What is PTS?

PTS = Public Test Server. I know almost nothing else about it. I get the impression that Zenimax runs things on there for a time for players to test before they go full scale on the big servers. Don't know anything else though like how you would try to play there or such.

Correct. Updates are put on the PTS for people to test out before they get released to the full game (usually a month before). Players are given a high level character so they can better test the game out, and the PTS is wiped clean every so often so none of your progress in there matters (because it's just for testing).

To access it, go to the settings in the game's launcher and tick the box that says 'Show Public Test Environment'. This should make the PTS appear in your list of servers. Click on it there to install it and you're good to go.

So do they give you enough gold (or a way around gold) to buy a house?

Not sure. I'd assume so, since this PTS update is partially designed to test out housing.

I don't use the PTS myself since it's another huge download on top of ESO's already substantial size.

Some thoughts on housing:
Why on earth would you want other players to be able to decorate your house?
It says other players are not allowed to take anything from your house. Does this mean storage of items?

1. You might share the house with other players - a partner for instance, or a guild.
2. Not sure, but I'd assume it means furniture and stuff.

Well that makes sense. This one hadn't considered that angle of it.

(1) They said that you can hire yourself out as a decorator and charge other players for your services if you know how to craft the furniture and they don't. Also, say you go into someone's house just like yours, but their furniture is completely awesome and makes their house look much better than yours. So you negotiate them coming to your house and doing the same thing for you.

You name them as your Decorator so the game knows they have your permission to touch stuff. They can't take anything, only put stuff in or move stuff around.


(2) Say if I see a wall hanging in your house or a trophy you have earned, etc - I can't wait till your back is turned and slip it into my armor and heft it out of there, (I am in the TG, you know, )

People would actually pay us for that?

Anyways, turns out there's even more news a-comin. I really hope it's the datamined Warden class they may or may not have teased. (Well, they specifically said Frost magic was getting some love in the future, so I'm assuming it's the Warden class they're referring to)

Well, yesterday I was so excited about this that I got on the game just to break into houses and get decorating examples to think about. I was on TS with my friends from one of my trading guilds - one of whom was actually a Beta tester for ESO the year before its original release.

He got a bunch of stuff for beta testing the game, one of them is those little monkeys you see behind some players - only the beta testers got those. So if we beta test the houses, we might get some nice pet or costume that won't be available to others too!

He said that they will probably make us pay like one Crown or some nominal amount of gold for the houses on the PTS; but it will not carry over to the regular server. Everything we do on the PTS gets wiped out when it is pulled away when testing is complete; so you will def have to re-buy your house at the end, re-set it up, etc.

I can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!

A new class?!!

I tried searching for the post on reddit, but couldn't find it.

Keep in mind this is all speculation based on both a reddit post from one of the developers (an answer he gave to someone who asked whether Frost magic was getting some love in the future, along the lines of "we have something planned") and datamining that found some of the skill lines from the alpha's cut Warden class (which includes a Frost skill line to match the Sorcerer and Dragonknight's Shock and Fire lines) re-introduced in a recent update.

The general consensus is that the Warden class may be implemented soon.Here's hoping.

Frost Warden sounds great. Something with frost magic and nature summoning would be my fondest wish for a class. Jerric is not prone to jealousy, but when he sees NPCs with their frost walls and sabre cat spells, he has to kill them harder.

A nature summoning class would be my ideal class. Something like the enemy Hunters that are already in the game. They always remind me of the Ranger class from Guild Wars 2.

Frost magic is pretty cool too though. Pun intended.

They usually release on PTS a month before making the update live.

Anyways, I'm glad they went and revealed the price of the houses right away. Looks like the Medium houses will be right in my price bracket, but with a bit more saving I can get the Large houses instead.

Buying the manors may be a goal in the future but honestly I don't know what the characters would do with that much space. The titles would be nice, though I can't imagine living near an active volcano would be appealing. But then a bunch of those homes' original inhabitants died of the Knahaten Flu so...

Also I love that Mistveil Keep can become a player home.

I thought they were a lot lower than what I thought they would be for the medium & small houses. If we craft our own furniture, we could afford a few of them. I wonder how much the furniture will be to buy (because a recipe is 250; one carrot is 150; and a horse is 42,000 - so how much is a couch? Kind of glad the houses are as low as they are. I thought they would be higher.
