Okay, I don't know if anyone else noticed this yet - but they now have a slot for buying "Containers" and "Tools" in the Guild Stores!!!! WOO HOO !!!!!!

And something else new I saw, but can't remember - will be back to post it when I do!

Okay, here is something else new: The Wiki page for furniture crafting! So if this is correct, we will not have to have a new skill line/spend skill points on a new crafting skill line to make them !!! WHEW !!!! Thank goodness!!!!

And Decorations:

That's just speculation at the moment. All we know is that we will be able to craft some furniture - the specifics are still a secret.

I'd be surprised if they introduced a whole new skill line for it. It'd make no sense.

Nice, thanks!

I'm curious to see how crafting furnishings will work. They already have the racial motif system in place for equipment crafting, so I can see how it would make sense to tie into that. If they did furnishings for every other motif that have already published, that would be a whole lot of different curtains! laugh.gif

Gotta be careful what you read on the wiki mALX tongue.gif Unless you can find a direct link and/or quote from a Zenimax dev, don't believe what you read.

I love the Redguard furnishings best. Auridon has some okay stuff too, but I don't know what racial style it is.

http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/ne...es-crown-crates

Crown crates are coming on Thursday (So that's the 1st?).

"Hey Hazmick, what's a crown crate?"

Crown Crates are purchased through the Crown Store, and contain a randomized selection of useful consumables and collectibles that are valued more than the price of a single crate. In addition, they also offer a chance to obtain unique cosmetic items, pets, or mounts. Crown Crates include new and exclusive items, as well as some items you might have missed in previous limited time offers. Each Crown Crate is associated with a special “Season" that will include uniquely themed items, and will be cycled quarterly. The first theme will be 'Storm Atronach'.

You can purchase a single Crown Crate for 400 crowns, four Crates for 1500 crowns, or 15 Crates for 5000 crowns.

You can probably imagine the look on Haa-Rei's face when he saw that Storm Atronach Guar mount. By The Hist!

GAAAAAAAH !!!!!! And I saw the new Camel for December already, it is gorgeous !!!! I want one of them too! (but not as much as the Palomino, lol.)

mALX
I've been watching the (hundreds of) Youtube vids regarding these Crown Crates and how many gems you get out of each to buy the items you do want with. It doesn't look good at all.

1st = you have to buy 4 crates and turn what they don't make you keep into gems to get enough gems to buy the cheapest item they have for sale; which is priced at 16 gems. (you get about 5 gems per crate if you sell back everything you can to them for gems)

2nd = the drop rate of high level items was so rare that one man bought 100 crates and didn't get a single mount; (but did get the cute black mask bear dog I want plus one memento) but another girl who didn't buy hers in one lump but over an 8 day stretch got one mount on day 7 (Senche Tiger) and another on day 8 (the Atronach Horse). Plus on day 8 she got the Senche Cub pet.

Both of them got numerous hairstyles and body/face markings for Khajiit & Argonian characters (though neither had them for any of their characters); both got numerous hats that made their characters look bald; both got numerous soul gems/potions/and speed/capacity/stamina points to spend at the stables. Both got numerous Crown stones.

The guy who bought all his in one lump got ONLY the same two costumes repeatedly and no others; but the girl who spread hers out over 8 days got several different costumes on different days (only one was adorable).

So it does seem that buying one to a few crates a day may be a better strategy. (buy one, open it, if you don't get what you want buy another?) Like maybe by the 3rd crate if you are licked, realize you need to come back another day and stop buying them that day? Like maybe they are randomly filled with items by day, and the next day would be different items? I don't know.

I don't know if the results are random by when you buy them or when you open them; like maybe you could buy the 4 crate discounted price and then just open one per day? I don't know it depends on when Zenimax has the random set up; on open or on purchase.

Anytime a collectible item was repeated the player got gems instead of the item (because you can only have one in your collections due to them being by Player, not by character).

Example: cheap items like hats or body/face markings gave 3 gems; armor or costumes gave 5; and mounts or pets if repeated gave 33 gems.

From what the girl who bought over 8 days said, you can't just sell back the collectibles you don't want or can't use like all the Argonian hair styles - you are stuck with what you get on those and can only hope a repeat nets you gems.

Does not sound like a good investment to me, but I do see me getting hooked on opening unknown crates so will be staying away from them like I stay away from the "Unknown Armor" crates at the Merchants, laugh.gif

Acadian
Thanks, mALX. That just confirms my already easy choice to have nothing to do with the crates. I would be happy to buy quite a few of the crate items outright at the crown store. That is not how it is set up though so I'll give crown crates a pass.

TheCheshireKhajiit
Yep, these crates sound like a money sink. No thanks.
hazmick
Yeah it sounds like the crown crates in ESO work exactly the same as loot crates in Overwatch. Sometimes RNG is kind and you'll get a cool item, but when you don't get what you want it feels like a waste of money.

It's just another stream of revenue for Zenimax, and a cool little optional purchase for those that want it. Haa-Rei would love a storm atronach guar, but I never have much luck with this sort of thing so I'm not going to bother (and not having ESO+ anymore means that crowns are tight).

Thanks for the info, mALX.
Grits
Thanks for the info, mALX!

I'm also skipping the Crown Crate mini-game. I'm very interested in some of the items they offer, but not at all interested in gambling for them. A straight-up cash transaction works for me. As awesome as the December Crown Store looks like it will be, they will make a bundle from me anyway!

mALX

If they made them purchase-able with in game gold I'd be there, but I'm not wasting real money on them.

It's like those damn lunchboxes in Fallout Shelter. Most of the time you get nothing special.

Well, I can't disagree with you. What I meant I guess is that I like the palamino horse and kind of like one or two of the wizard hats. Maybe another item or two like a blue nixad pet. Player housing info is finally here!

Some highlights:

Player housing is called 'Homestead'. It will arrive in February 2017 on all platforms.

"Homestead, included free with ESO's next major game update, introduces the long-anticipated player housing system. It also includes furniture crafting and robust home decoration options. With nearly 40 unique homes to choose from and over 2,000 individual decorative and furniture options..."

"Homes are styled after the game's 10 playable races, and they come in furnished or unfurnished versions. In general, you can purchase any homes you like, regardless of your character's race or alliance. The exception is Imperial-style homes, purchase of which requires that you own the Imperial Edition of ESO."

"All the homes available when Homestead launches will be located in ESO's base zones – not in DLC zones"

"...nearly all homes will be available for purchase via in-game gold. All unfurnished homes that you can purchase for in-game gold will also be available for purchase with crowns. If you prefer your home to be move-in ready and decorated by some of Tamriel's best interior designers, you can purchase the fully furnished version of any home in the Crown Store."

"Furniture and decorative items can be crafted using the existing trade skills, purchased via gold from merchants throughout Tamriel, or bought with crowns in the Crown Store. Most decoration items will be available both in the Crown Store and via in-game merchants for gold."

"Houses are instanced, so you don't have to worry about racing to grab the perfect spot of land"

Exciting stuff! happy.gif

Buffy was strangely pleased to hear this. I know that all she wants in a home is a bedroll under the stars by her mare or the temporary use of a guild or inn room when in town so I wondered why. She explained how she looks forward to visiting her friends - who it sounds like will all have homes! tongue.gif
TheCheshireKhajiit

Khajiit has come into this game at the right time it seems!

So does this mean we can store stuff at the house instead of the having to use the bank? Also, will we be able to invite other players into our homes for a mad tea party?!!
hazmick
Doesn't say anything about storage, so probably not, but yes you can invite friends to visit - even when you're offline.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Oh ok, so the chests, armoires, and what not are static items? That's going to drive Khajiit crazy...er ( tongue.gif ), but still it will be good to have a house!

Definitely! Function is always preferable to static, in Khajiit's opinion.

Just watched the little video. That Redguard house looks awesome! Also the Khajiit house looks like it has some Asian influences in its design (though this one doesn't really approve of the Khajiit in the video letting reptiles wander around in his home tongue.gif).

Oh my gosh, yay! I love that you will have to have done some quests in the area to be able to purchase some of the houses. That answers my "Who wants to live in a plague town?" question.

I'm happy that there will be in-game gold as well as Crown options to buy some of the same things. Some people (me!) enjoy all of the gathering and fiddling that goes into making stuff and saving up gold. Others don't have the time or inclination. This way we all can enjoy Homestead.

Also I had been thinking that some of the trophies and achievements that you earn could make cool decorations. Awesome that there are items you can use which will be linked to what you have done in game. The trophy house mods are hugely popular in Skyrim. Not my thing, but they will make a lot of players happy.

Ohmygosh!!! Books!!! Crafting stations!!! MOUNTS AND PETS!!! What's next, NPCs of your other characters?! This is so awesome!!!

The options for inviting other players look fantastic for easy visiting. Way better than I had hoped. Just be warned you might find Jerric in the Nord home naked in that pile of sweetrolls. tongue.gif

I get the feeling it will be like in Skyrim where you had to do five nice things for the neighbors to become Thane; only here it is just to buy into the neighborhood. I loved doing those quests more than I loved being "Thane," I just wanted the houses, lol.

Oh, as soon as I saw the ton of food in that Nord house my mind flew to Jerric eating it, lol. I pictured every single place in his story where food and Jerric came together! rollinglaugh.gif

I've learned that if they have a lock on the door, there is ALWAYS someone inside to catch you breaking in. And they don't give you a lot of time to view their decor before you better leave or else.

Okay, so I'm confused.

First off, I decided to check out the Crown Crate thingy. Not go bat-s*** crazy, just dip my toe in the water, so to speak.

I bought a SINGLE crown crate from the store.

Now I can't figure out for the life of me or my toons how to get to it? Where the heck is it? I get a tip to click on F3 for crown crates, but then nothing shows up on screen.

So I have no idea what junk I just got . . .

Just how are these supposed to show up? In your inventory? (like the writs)

In your collectibles? Like the DLC's and mounts and pets?

What??
Acadian
Though I didn't have (and still don't) have any crown crates, I was curious when they first came out. Up top in any of your menus (next to the Crown Store icon is a new icon for crates. If you click on that, a Kahjiit will magically appear in front of you and you can talk to him about opening any crates you own.
haute ecole rider
Yeah, and I saw that button, but NO KHAJIIT!!!

Ugh!

And I contacted support about the forum invite (none received), and only got a survey from them. So still waiting . . .
