Next major update/patch will include changes to racials. Here's ZOS current plan that they expect to introduce into the PTS for Elsweyr I guess.

https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/di...or-update-21/p1

It looked like most of the changes were replacing percentages with fixed numbers, so they remained static. A few items like Bosmer getting better detection in place of their own stealth, but nothing looked game-changing. To me, anyway. The min-maxers living on the edge will find plenty.
Acadian
I agree. Most of the racial changes are minor nibbling around the edges. They don't address the fact that race selection encourages channeling characters into either stamina or magicka creating a division between performance players and roleplayers. ESO provides that gender choice is purely cosmetic; I'd like to see the same for race choice.
Grits
Agreed. I’d be happier with a handful of race-specific emotes than the current system. As long as PvP is part of the game, race shouldn’t provide a competitive advantage.

You want to eliminate the innate Race bonuses? Oh no, I can't agree with you on that.

There has always been certain attributes to each race that helped us choose our characters by either innate ability or appearance; and I have always loved that.

I had to really think if I was willing to give up a little bit of prowess to keep the looks I wanted my character to have; or even take on a character I'd never played before to gain expertise in an ability = love that it makes me think carefully about my choices and not just (leap on the prettiest and still have it all type thing).

I think that is a good thing. I wouldn't want the characters to be just identical plugs = not to mention it would eliminate all the Lore built into the races throughout all the Elder Scrolls games and stories.

Unless I misunderstood what you meant here; and if that is the case = "Er...never mind..." laugh.gif

I mean, the racial differences are largely a gameplay thing and even then they aren't exactly consistent. (Especially in earlier games where attributes were a thing, the distribution was all over the place depending on the game you played)

Within the lore it's not as cut and dry as racial bonuses would have you believe. Even the notes on the passive changes state that the people of Tamriel (if one could talk to them) may not agree entirely with the assessment.

I get wanting to have racial choice be meaningful in a gameplay sense, but having them impose on roleplay and sometimes even contradicting lore by itself (as racial bonuses do to some extent no matter the game) is never a good thing imo. It should have been closer to previous games where it's more of a factor when you start out but evens out regardless of race near the end.
ghastley
Race and class are unlike the other skill lines in that you have to choose between alternatives, at the start of the game. I think that bundling three lines into one choice as "class" was a mistake, making it much harder to change later, and that race needed morphs, and active skills, to allow more development.

But that kind of change is way too radical for this late. Too many players would have too much to change, and what they're doing is about as much as they can.

Race can't be totally neutral. Khajiit have claws. Argonians are amphibious. Redguards, Nords, Dunmer have adapted to their homeland environments. Elves live longer, and that presumably brings some metabolic differences. However, those should be relatively minor, compared to training skills in-play. Just enough to start you along a chosen path, rather than block you from any.

I was hoping that more skill lines would be introduced to dilute the effect of the class bundles. If you could get equivalent abilities outside class, then the fact that it governs three whole lines is less restrictive. But they've added Warden, and now Necromancer is coming. Those could have been additions, instead of start-up options.

Acadian
There is certainly more than my own way of looking at this and differing opinions are fine. smile.gif I think what drives me is a bit of resentment that ESO is trying to say that even though you are The Chosen One to save Nirn and the most special/unique being on the planet, there can be no such thing as a Bosmer who is gifted with magical aptitude. ESO doesn't channel characters into certain roles/skills/abilities (like stamina vs magicka) based on gender choice and I would like that same freedom and flexibility applied to race choice.

The good news is that, as a mage, Buffy's race has and will continue provide her two benefits:
1. She remains 'Best in Slot' for Cute.
2. She can block better than most mages.
That said, I'm not sure how deeply those scant benefits are tied to Bosmer lore. tongue.gif
Grits
I love the differences between the races in the single player games, but in ESO’s PvP the Khajiit, Nords, and Bosmer are just other players. To me the best thing would be splitting the game so that PvP and the various flavors of PvE don’t dilute each other the way they do now.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Khajiit does not play PvP so he plays whatever kind of character he wants. If a character can perform his/her role sufficiently in the rare dungeon romp, then that’s good enough for this one.

Bold: Like they did with the Psijic lines; something everyone who wanted to could tap into with their already established characters. I def agree to that!

Same, tbh. I'm going to keep doing what I want regardless of the changes. Helped by the fact that I don't do any harder content, ever. This sort of thing will always be messy, regardless if it's an MMO or not. (especially if it isn't an mmo lol)

As a storyteller, I've always been about character conflicts - a toon choosing a path not typical of her race or class or size or whatever (even gender).

Like Julian studying Magic and joining the Mages Guild in spite of the Redguard's traditional distaste for magic (but not spirituality, which is somewhat different, though difficult to define . . . ) as I'm sure you recall from her Oblivion days.

And I am having tremendous fun playing my little Bosmer with a sword and board, even though her racial passives say she should be better with DW/bow or whatever the TESO lore says. And my Orc Maz is a surprisingly effective healer, though not on the same scale as Acadian's Dame Buffy.

It is in those conflicts that great stories lie, IMHO. So whatever ZOS does with racial passives, I don't care. I will continue playing my crew the way they want to play.

Baron Loredas is a Redguard and he’s a Necromancer! Well technically he’s a lvl 3 Sorc bank mule atm, but we’ve been waiting to level him in case they ever decided to make a Necro class. He’ll soon get his chance to start for real!
Grits
My issue with putting combat elements in the racial passives is that inevitably they will change for the purpose of balance. To me the character’s race is what they are, not who they are. Who they are will evolve, so the game design changes are easier to absorb as a natural part of their life. Changing what they are makes no sense to me.

I guess we have one more Mayhem morning to collect tickets? Jerric has a quest ready to turn in, so hopefully that will work. I’ve enjoyed this festival way more than I would have thought, and would not have joined in if not for the tickets.

I want to try the Necromancer class but I have no ideas yet, which is a very strange feeling! I’ll have to buy a character slot unless Lleduri agrees to bow out. I thought about making her a vampire, but I’m just not interested enough to put the time in. It’s a tough call because she has amassed a great wardrobe. tongue.gif

Pit Fighting promoter Crottus “Thumbs-Down” Lycus built this private arena atop the haunted ruins of Molavar because the land was cheap, and what could go wrong? He vanished mysteriously some time ago, and now his unique Arena Home is back on the market. This remarkable home includes levers that activate various environmental hazards in the middle of the arena. These hazards include lightning, fire blasts and spinning blades, each with their own distinct properties and behaviors.

How can you pass it up if it is named Lycus and is an Arena? That is like fate!!!! Someone read your story and loved it is my guess!

Yeesh, isn't this the first time we see Namira in ESO? I wonder if it's just for completion or because she's gonna be relevant soon.

Anyways, Wrathstone is on the PTS and the preview is up. As well as patch notes.

tbh the things I'm most interested in are the writ changes (particularly the material crates) the updated Jester's Festival, and the prologue quest(s) for Elsweyr. I'm glad they reference Numidium being stationed in the Halls of Colossus

Acadian
DK, do you mean things that used to be sold in the crown store that you don't have but want and wish they'd come back to the crown store?

If so, the only thing I can think of might be the white version of Buffy's fennec fox, Kitsune.
Darkness Eternal
Yes that’s what I meant. Items once sold that are now discontinued.

There’s something interesting about that.

The Palomino Horse!

The Palomino Horse is in the Storm Atronach crates which are in the store right now. Forty Crown Gems for the horse.

I'd like a return of the Dapple Grey Palfrey. I wish they would bring back the old horse model for the new horse colors.

Wow, only 40 gems? I need to go look and see if I have the gems!

I agree with both you and Acadian; I liked the fatter rumped horses. The gorgeous face on the blanket Appaloosa I bought for 1800 crowns last year can't make up for the fact that the horse has a bone for a tail (no hair on its tail like the old models had) = and has an extremely high bone across the top of its rump that becomes the bone tail! When you ride the horse, the only thing you see is that bone and the bone for a tail! It is like they took a skeleton of a horse to make the model; but didn't look at an actual picture of a horse's rump when they made the new models!

(whereas Puffy the Imperial White horse; Archie the Piebald Destrier; and Oreo the chunky Black horse with the white main and tail = their heads might not look as nice as the new ones; but who sees their faces when you are riding them? You see their rumps; and those models had perfect hindquarters = and tails with hair on them!

So yeah; bring back the old model = or stick the new prettier faces on the old well made hind ends!

Darkness Eternal
I was telling Acadian about some crown items. If they’re not on the store and you REALLY want them, send a message to Zeninax customer support. I’ve heard this from someone on Reddit and also on the official forums that they can give you the items if you have the crowns. Depending on the individual, of course.

Oh, that is Awesome! I didn't know that!

I always found that sort of thing to be...sketchy. I remember a while back someone did it and I think the ZOS person might have ended up having to make a public statement that it's NOT something that you can do regularly. It's not something I'd do because it would get someone in trouble. Y'know, that sort of thing.

Anyways, I DO wish the Chef and Blacksmith outfit would come back. And that there were equivalents for the other professions
ghastley
I suspect that the exceptions only happen when ZOS screwed up, and they're trying to make good on a mistake. I doubt that they'd want a back-door market, even at full price.

I grabbed a Palomino, too. Good thing I had enough gems. Blossom will riding that one. The only characters left that use the level-up reward horse are Taminwe and Cat Man Dhou. Neither has expressed any hankering for another mount yet.

I don't have enough gems; but = that isn't the Palomino I wanted. It is pale colored; and the one I loved was very dark golden Palomino. They only had it up for a short time; and I should have bought it (but didn't). Then they gave it away with one of their Collector's Editions; and I haven't seen it available since.
