That's the problem with creativity, sometimes you feel inspired, but then you go to write. And there's just nothing there.

But just in case that inspiration returned, I at least started with the html code (which is a pain in the wrist to set up in Cho stories).

Today I sold as much as I could at Tenpenny and then Gunny and I teleported to the Chryslus (or whatev) building from where we got up to the Bethesda ruins. After that we ran up to the dairy farm and Old Olney which was empty apart from one lone Deathclaw.
This session gave a lot of loot from foes killed by other foes which was neat. But I still haven't found a spare .44 revolver I could use to repair my Blackhawk with. They sure are rare.

Thanks. Didn't find one today either though. The shops down in Rivet City came up short, as did Moira.
Today we have been raiding the north part of the map. Got a good share of Talon armor and Deathclaw hands. We're currently outside one of those towers in the NW containing more Talon, and next session will have them collected as well.

For some reason, they asked Linda to figure out why some of their water supply keeps getting irradiated, maybe because they're too afraid to figure it out for themselves.

January has been wandering the Capital Wasteland for the last few days. It has been a long time since I have played FO3. I remembered that I need some points in Repair so I could fix the water pipes in Megaton. But I forgot that I would need at least a 25 in Explosives to disarm the bomb. So Jan was homeless for a long while while I ground her up to the next level, so I could put points in it.
I had also forgotten how your responses (and stats) to Moira determine the outcome of the Wasteland Survival Guide. I had to look it all up again to see how it all worked. I went with the generic response for one so far, the snide remark, and finally the tough option. The Tough book gives you a damage resistance bonus, so I think I will go with that from now on, Jan is very much a defender.
I have been using the Regulator and Compliance Regulator from New Vegas with her. I updated them with the Tesla Cannon projectile. They have been doing insanely more damage than I put in the Geck. I found it was the projectile itself. I had to make a new one, and reduce the Knockback effect on it. I put it to half a 10mm pistol. But they are still doing way more damage than they should. I have the Regulator set to do 12 points of damage, the same as a Laser Pistol. But in the game it says it does 57 damage. Which is just nuts.

Aw, Jan is homeless. Has she been sleeping in the Church of Atom quarters?
Funny thing about Moira Brown is she has a very Midwest accent, rather than a Maryland / mid-Atlantic one. I think I've mentioned this before. Beth should have known the difference!
Khajiit: Yes, Linda Hand does lend her hand quite a lot, or at least she tries to.

Some quests in New Vegas are really frickin' tough.
I did some gaming with her yesterday.. Since I'm writing a story with Vicious, I need to have someone who I can just game with. Linda has a bunch of stuff she can sell, and her food supply is getting low. So she might have to head back to Post 181 or Novac soon.

Jan slept in the Bethesda Ruins one night. She slept in Minefield another night. She never actually slept anywhere in Megaton.
I decided to go back and start over, since I had not gotten very far. The second time around things went smoother. She disarmed the bomb soon after entering Megaton, and now has a place to stay. Jan just finished clearing out Bethesda. She is now on her way to Minefield for Moira.
It might be that Moira was supposed to sound how she does. I believe she was a caravaneer when she was younger, and later settled down in Megaton. So she might originally be from the Detroit or Cleveland Wastelands.

Linda Hand is in Camp McReady. Trying to figure out how to get into the Vegas strip itself. She's found some NCR troops inside this one building, and there's a monorail, which we assume goes in and out of the Strip. But she can't access this monorail. They won't let her use it. If Linda intends to use the monorail to get to the Strip, she can of course join the NCR, but they must really "love her" to allow her to use it. There are other ways how to use it, but that'd be a too big spoiler.
I'd say ditch the monoraila and go search for the entrance yourself - or follow the quest marker.

Thanks for your attention, everyone.

Still have not found a gate into the Vegas strip, however this no longer matters. Linda has become
incredibly busy in yesterday's gaming session.
In fact, there is a LOT to do in this game, right? It's surprising and overwhelming, but in good ways. So right now, she has not officially joined NCR, but she is doing some work for them. Lending her hand to rat out some fiends near Vault 3, trying to figure out who is stealing from Camp McCarran, and so on. I mean, it's suddenly a list of nearly a dozen things. I love it!
Lopov
Sep 8 2020, 03:37 PM
Camp McCarran is packed with quests, marked and unmarked. It's packed with a handful of interesting characters too. And if you're walking all the time (like me), it takes a really long time to get from one point to another, so you're bound to be in that place for quite a long time - with trips out, like to Vault 3, for instance.

Lol that’s funny! I’m a little surprised BGS didn’t plan for that scenario. They are usually pretty good with details like this.
Speaking of small details, I discovered something the other day that I thought was kinda neat. At your 10th birthday party, after “Old Lady Palmer“ gives you the sweet roll, Andy destroys your cake and then Butch demands you hand over the sweet roll in a call back to Morrowind’s CharGen. I never thought about eating the sweet roll immediately after receiving it until the other day, so I did. Andy proceeded to destroy the cake and Butch still demanded the sweet roll, but I was able to tell him I ate it. He was still mad, saying that he loves her sweet rolls, and then is just like “stay out of my way”. Just a small thing that I thought was kinda neat.

Yeah he is talking to a security officer. The officer cheerfully asks him if he had a good time, and the Oveerseer responds that he “only went because Amata is friends with the brat”. He then tells the officer (in an annoyed tone) to give the party a little more time and go and break it up and get everyone back to work.

I don't remember it anymore in the details, but there's also a subtle hint before the final tutorial quest, that James came to the vault later, and that the player was born outside. I think that it happens during a dialogue with some NPC at the birthday party.

I think I remember that dialogue between the Overseer and the security guard. But I am not sure. I have done the tutorial so many times that I probably have. But most of it was so long ago that it is kind of a blur.
I do recall there is a point in the tutorial where you can say to Dad something like "But everyone is born in the Vault, aren't they?" I forget the exact line, or his reply however. I think he says something like: "That is what the Overseer tells us."
TheCheshireKhajiit
Sep 13 2020, 10:53 PM
Also at the 10th birthday party, “Old Lady Palmer” almost lets slip that you and James came to the Vault from the outside but she catches herself before she does. She says something like “10 years old. My my. I can remember when your daddy came and... Oh listen to me ramble!”. She then quickly changes the subject to the sweet roll she baked for you.

FO1 does not really have a tutorial, at least not as we know them. You get a small cutscene of the Overseer telling you to get the water chip, and then you are kicked out into a cave system filled with rats. You fight your way through the rats, and then emerge into the game world. There really was not anything special to it. Unless I am misremembering. It has been a very long time since I played it. I cannot even remember Fallout 2 at all.
Lopov
Sep 15 2020, 06:34 PM
SubRosa is right, FO1 doesn't have a tutorial of any kind. Those rats can be difficult if chosen skills are mostly intelligence / science-oriented.
FO2 has a sort of tutorial. The game starts off in Arroyo, a small settlement, and the PC is one of the tribals. You must undergo some sort of a rite and at the end you're rewarded with a Vault 13 suit. You have to kill some ants during that trial and avoid / disable some traps IIRC. After it's over, you're back to your home village and you can leave.
