One thing I noticed about Point Lookout, when you arrive there the game does a cinematic from onboard the ship, giving you a view from on deck as you sail in. It is exactly like how you arrive in Solsthiem in the Dragonborn dlc for Skyrim. So that is one more thing
Skyrim inherited from Fallout 3.

I've experiment a bit over the years to find a way to make Point Lookout-Mothership Z feel more like the main game. Very is no doubt that the enemies are bullet sponges there, Beth always go slightly mad when it come to the end of a game's run.
For me I drop the difficult setting down to easy and only allow my character to have no more than half his maximum hit points. Add a few hardcore rules like limited ammo, weapons and stimpaks and the dlc feels spot on to me. I guess this is more for console games though, mods on PC can do anything, of course!
I started this because I love my Terrible Shotgun so much and hate the fact it (and most other weapons) are useless down there.

I LOVE the Terrible! The three guns that are my absolute favorites to carry in game: Blackhawk; A3-21; and the Terrible.
But speaking of Point Lookout - even these three can't take down the enemy in Point Lookout, I ended up grabbing up some local weapons because mine weren't getting anywhere against the locals. That is one tough DLC!

Molly has explored most of Point Lookout now. She started by heading west along the beach, then worked her way back east through the swamps. Early on she met Obidiah Blackhall and agreed to get the Necronomicon Krivbeknih for him. Marcella turned up afterward and warned Molly to destroy the book instead. Today Molly found the Ritual Site where the swampers had the Krivbeknih. Lots of killing ensued. Afterward Molly took the book back to Marcella, only to find her murdered by thugs. More killing ensued, and now Obidiah sleeps with the fishes. Molly still has the Krivbeknih, and plans to do away with it once she gets back to the Capital Wasteland.
But before then she still has some unfinished business in Point Lookout. She has learned that there is a downed sub somewhere offshore thanks to all the clues Molly chased down from the Chinese spies sent to destroy it before the nukes started to fly. Molly has already done a lot of swimming looking for it off the east coast. So far no luck. She did find some neat goodies. In fact, every buoy off the eastern coast has something on the bottom underneath it.
Of course once the submarine is found, Molly still has Calvert Mansion to look into, and the Ark and Dove Cathedral.

I love the Gauss, but reloading every 2 shots can leave you with your butt hanging out if you don't have Blackhawk on hotkey.

I love the gauss too. I built my Winter Soldier Cailleach around it. But it has some bugs, like not doing the full damage in VATS.
This mod fixes that. I combined it with
Gauss DX, which gives it better visuals. But one that doesn't get fixed is that sometimes your bullet will pass right through a target without doing anything. Which certainly makes things interesting!

Great day today. Ben was travelling over to Rockopolis to grab the Bobble head when the Firelance Event happened in the sky above. Woohoo!! On every playthrough for me it has either occurred in the first 40 hours or I have had to wait for a bloody long time. This time it was 265h.
I had a great view of it in the twilight sky, the explosion ripped from south to north and smashed down into the rocks right outside Rockopolis. Scampering around I found 19 cells but no Firelance.

Thinking quickly Ben quickly traveled back to 101 and called a certain puppy to help out. The little guy coughed up both the gun and the other cells. It had fallen just under the edge of a patch of grass and I couldn't see it.
The only trouble was that 3 Albino Scorps and 1 Yao Guai kept attacking Ben while he was searching!

My Firelance Event actually happened close to where the small spaceship is, not far from a building with three chimneys. At the time I didnīt know what it was, I thought it was just some guys fighting with big guns or something even though I knew about this event. Never found the gun when I returned there, even with Dogmeat. Not that it was a big loss as anything with flying astro ba***rds doesnīt belong in the Fallout universe for me. Plus I donīt like energy weapons so there you go..

But funny thing, I think it happen well beyond 300 hours in my game

My first Firelance was the same a Mirocu's. I heard a big boom, and just assumed it was a raider with a missile launcher. I was walking around afterward looking for what I thought was the raiders, when I found the alien power cells strewn about, and eventually I stumbled upon the gun. WTF? I thought, and went to look it up on the wiki.
Most of my games it never happens at all. In years of playing on and off, I think the Firelance has only happened twice.
mALX
Mar 7 2015, 05:01 PM
On the 360 I used to travel to the NW corner of the map early in game and got Firelance there every time on that road that runs east to west toward the Satcom Array there (just north of the power station). Since I just got the PC game this is my first run on it - Firelance went off near Fairfax, landed around a bunch of tall buildings. Only a small amount of ammo found and no Firelance, and this time I never heard the explosion, so I'm wondering if it took place at some other time when I was near Fairfax and all but that few ammo is all that is left from the world resetting.

Now Molly is back in the Wasteland. She still has the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. I was planning to use them for decorations back in the Megaton house. But they are still quest items, so the game won't allow me to drop them from my inventory. So I looks like the first stop will be Rivet City to sell them to the guy at the Capital Preservation Society.

Now that Molly is back in the Capital Wasteland, Molly made a trip out west to wrap up some old business from Point Lookout. She sneaked like a ninja through the Dunwich Building, and ninja'ed the ferals she found there. A Sneak of 100 + Melee Weapons of 100 = lots of quiet killings. She had picked up a Fat Man on the way out, and a few mini-nukes. So when she got to the obelisk at the bottom of things she had just the thing for the remaining ghouls. Only one Glowing One escaped the nuking, and he went down to Molly's hatchet. In the end, the Krivbeknih was no more.
Since she was out there, Molly did some bobblehead collecting. She stopped by the Yao-Guai Tunnels and Rockopolis before heading back east. On the way home she stopped in Tenpenny Tower to sell off her loot, and buy another bottlecap mine schematic. This makes the third one, so now she can make 3 mines at once. I have been hoarding my mine supplies for this. So when Molly got back to Megaton she hunkered down in front of the workbench. Now she has 144 bottlecap mines!

That is weird. I have never had a problem with them. You use them the same as any ordinary frag mine. You just put them down and they arm automatically. They make spectacular explosions, I think about 5 times the damage of an ordinary mine. So they are the best way to kill Deathclaws in the early game.

I'm going to have to try again - I lay them down outside of Big Town to stop those muties - nothing happened, no explosions. I even tried to shoot them and nothing happened. The muties came in and made us all their britches; I had to reload the previous save, find the town again, and this time laid out frag mines (which worked just fine).

Just make sure that you back up and keep the mine in a direct line between you and the enemy. It is quite easy for the creature to just miss it if it charges at you on a slightly different angle. Just yesterday I planted a normal frag mine on a corner and waited for the Mirelurk King to come around the rocks. It didn't go off so I had to use a shotty at close range. Checking the mine I still have no idea how he slipped past.

The old lady saying "There's more where this came from!" is priceless!
Molly made a second trip out west yesterday to collect more bobbleheads. Her first stop was Vault 106, which was already on her map thanks to her trip to Vault Tec HQ a while back. She heard Three Dog talking about raiders around Evergreen Mills, so she went to check it out.
Along the way she rescued a teddy bear from its shopping cart cages. Ooops! You know what that means. But thankfully Molly has plenty of bottlecap mines now. It only took about half a dozen to put the behemoth down. It never even got close to her.
Then it was on to Evergreen Mills. It started out a little weird. One of the traveling caravans was outside, and as Molly approached the merchant ran into Evergreen Mills. He got about halfway down the narrow canyon of the entrance when a raider started shooting at him, and he started shooting back. Molly joined in and dropped the raider with the Blackhawk. Then the merchant when back toward the entrance, and his brahamin came running down to take his place. More gunfire ensued, and the brahmin ran back out. Then the mercenary who guards the caravan came running in, shot a raider, and ran back out! I have never seen that before.
In any case, Molly put her stealth boys to use and sneaked in. She released the behemoth the raiders had corralled up, and sat back to watch the fun. It killed every raider it could reach, and in the end Molly had to finish it off with her axe. More chopping ensued inside. She let the raider trader live, since he said that while the others might want to kill her, he didn't have any problems trading. So Molly was able to sell off most of her raider loot to him. Which was actually rather convenient.
Now I am thinking it might be time to head north, and tackle the Wil Wheaton armory. Molly has a lockpick of 100 now, so she can get that door open down at the bottom.

Wow, that was some great combat details !!! What an exciting battle! Evergreen Mills is one of my favorite spots, but unless I could pickpocket the Terrible off the vendor raider - I'll never go through all that to do business with him; so usually just go in with a missile till everyone is dead and hunt for Smiling Jack's Terrible Shotgun when the smoke clears, lol.
I've never gone in through the front after the first tikme; usually climb down the rocks behind there and either drop down to the ledge and systematically clean those on the ledge (and the shacks) out; (giving myself a vantage point to shoot raiders from) or just drop down onto the top of the Bazaar building and snipe the place till no one is moving, lol.
You can release the behemoth from up there by shooting the generator out; and he can't reach you from up there.
Normally that makes for a scene like you had; with the begemoth killing off the raiders for the player - but if there is no combat first the behemoth just stands in his cage with the door open and doesn't run out attacking - that was disappointing to me till I realized his AI to rampage wouldn't be triggered till the Player reached a certain nearness to him.
So then I use the Stealth-boy and get close in to trigger him. Still nothing. I shot him and he just stood there. It was really disappointing; I'd never had that happen before. Then the teddy bear triggered behemoth didn't show up at all !!! Urk, not having a great time hunting behemoths this game, lol.
