Today presented Gunny and me with some challenge. Up at Roosevelt Academy we suddenly faced no less than seven (7) Deathclaws at once! blink.gif They were walking the road one after the other; looked quite funny laugh.gif
Fortunately we were down by the plaza so when they charged at us, after I had presented them with some complimentary lead, they were forced to almost a single file between the high wall and the building so at least we werenīt surrounded. Still, Gunny got destroyed and my health was quite downed.

Also, I had to resurrect three Outcasts and two Brotherhoods. The former killed by a Deathclaw and the latter ones by a Super Mutant Master at the Citadell. And I think in total I had to repair Gunny three times.

If there are any avid fans (like myself) of the New Vegas Bounties mod, the final installment will be released tomorrow, thus ending the trilogy which started back in 2010. I'm thinking of starting a new character just to play through all NVB mods again.

Anybody else got time off? Or kicking back while retired?

I will be on vacation during that time, but only because my birthday is November 1st. I'll wait until FO4 has been out a while, watch some You Tube vids. I'm not sure if I'll get FO4 or not, we'll see.

Cho Zenwahn is headed toward Vault 112, still following his father's footsteps. Really looking forward to this, because this is an area of the map he's never been yet. So many things to discover / places to explore.

I wonder if I have any Pipboy App updates for Cho? ... Cripes, I actually have four! I'll have to edit the next one, post it up later.

It sure is. Wish I still felt this way about Cyrodiil. Maybe I can get hypnotized, and have the hypnotist specifically erase any memories I have about TES4. That would be so grand.

That is so the truth! I still remember clearly the first time I ever played Oblivion; how everything felt so intriguing because I never knew what would happen next, what the game was capable of. I remember trying to get rid of those notes in Glathir's basement because I was afraid if the guards saw them they would connect me as his "helper," rollinglaugh.gif

Everything there was killing me the first time I went; every enemy there felt overpowered compared to the vanilla Fallout game - and installing it loaded those tougher enemies into the whole game, replacing the regular ghouls and super mutants with reavers and overlords.

It took a while to get used to those new stronger enemies; but if they are there right from the start you kind of get used to them from the start and they aren't such a shock to the system.

"We've all heard about Blondie.

The rumors.

The legends.

The lies.

Supposedly she was a lowly courier traveling to New Vegas to deliver a package, but high roller Benny from the Strip shot her in her half-shaved head while she was dead drunk sleeping on the Goodsprings graveyard, because he badly wanted that package for himself. Then he had her buried on that same graveyard. Buried alive.

But Blondie rose from her grave.

And walked over the entire Mojave to return a headshot. However, unlike Benny, she didn't miss. If rumors are to be believed, she then threw Benny's severed head in a toilet and put a cigarette in his silenced mouth.

That's when we heard about Blondie for the first time - making a fuss like that, and in a middle of the Strip, can hardly go unnoticed.

But that was just the beginning. For some time there's been silence and nobody knew what happened to the vengeful courier until we heard rumors about a blond girl traveling the desert, making a living as a bounty hunter. An ex-ranger died, as did the notorious Fiend leader, not to mention the cannibal doctor and many, many others...all of them were without their forefingers and by then it was widely known that fingers serve as a proof of death for Randall's bounty hunting company. Word gets around quickly in the Mojave and these fingerless-victims had only thing in common - Blondie.

Something has gone wrong with the bounty hunting company which she worked for, her employer has been killed or kidnapped, details are not known to most of us. However, not long after, ALL members of a rival bounty hunting company, led by the nefarious Judge, were found slaughtered in their base. And when I say slaughtered, I mean slaughtered. There was a chainsaw at work, no doubt. Not to mention that the Judge's head was found atop his desk, a cigar in his mouth. Coincidence?

Know that - Blondie's out there, in the desert, shooting raiders, fiends, legionnaires, feral ghouls and anyone else dumb enough to try and kill her. A new bounty hunting office, sponsored by the NCR, lately opened its doors in Boulder City and I bet that we'll soon hear fresh bloody rumors about Blondie and that more people will lose their trigger fingers."

No, it just happened when I installed Point Lookout. Suddenly the super mutant spawns all had 2 overlords; and every ghoul spawn had a couple reavers.

If you have had Point Lookout installed from the start (as in the GOTY game) - you won't notice the difference because they are there from the start. But the first time I played Point Lookout was on the 360; I bought it as soon as it came out. As soon as I installed it; the first place I found a super mutant overlord was on that road just past the Citadel on my way to the boat dock for Point Lookout, iirc.

mirocu
Well, the thing is I have never had a single overlord and there has never been a reaver in my Capital Wasteland and I have the GoTY.. mellow.gif
mALX

Okay, I was wrong about it being Point Lookout that added them; the Overlords were added by Broken Steel; and both Broken Steel and Point Lookout added the Reavers.

Pipboy App ON. Date: Monday, 11.10.77, 2:33 AM

Just arrived at some sort of .. I don't know. Ruins, or something. There were some super mutants up ahead, and I started to take them with my rifle, but then somebody else shot them. Don't know who. But my Pipboy is indicating that there's some friendly folks up ahead. Well, it's good, that's good, I should say. I got the benefits of those super mutants. Each one had a rifle compatible to mine, and a box of ammo to go with it. Lucky, because my current rifle's about to fall apart. Break.

But anyway, I'm finally doing it. Looking for my father, that is. Getting a late start, but I think the old man is okay. He's tougher than he looks. Now that I know where he is, there shouldn't be much problem finding him, as long as my Pipboy keeps working.

unidentified female voice: Look, I don't know who you are, but you don't belong here. The super mutants have overrun our brothers at the galaxy news radio building, and we're headed there to back them up.

Wait. Damn [censored], let me explain.

unidentified female voice: You can tag along if you want, but keep your head down. Try not to do anything stupid.

What? You want me to tag along, while you do all the work? Suits me fine. Who the hell are you, anyways?

unidentified female voice: I'm sentinel lions of the lion's pride.

Her name is Sentinel Lions, Pipboy app.

unidentifed female voice, now identified as Sentinel Lions: What?

Ahh, um...

Sentinel Lions: I'm on your side, at least I hope so.

Sure you are, I can see that. I mean my Pipboy is seeing that... I mean. Uhh. So Galaxy News Radio is somewhere nearby, eh?

Sentinel Lions: There aren't a lot of safe places in the ruins right now. But the Galaxy News Radio building is sort of our safe place in the storm. Unfortunately, the building's been hit pretty hard lately. We're backup. So if there are no more questions, we really need to move out.

Hey, don't let me stop you. Let's rock 'n' roll.

And look at the arsenal on the king. A pistol. Rounds of ammo, including energy cells. A sack full of bottle caps. Four grenades, a missile, and a missile launcher. Oh boy. I'd better hide all this stuff away somewhere safe. Looks like I won't be hurting for weaponry anytime soon. Break.

Now, time to find my father. Wish me luck.

I laughed out loud when I read this. Brilliant!

Behemoths are fantastic fun. I remember my first battle with one away from GNR. I opened the cage and POW, the sucker jumped me from behind. Lucky Dogmeat came to the rescue and gave his life on my behalf. Unfortunately the little guy could not survive the 16th hit from the fire hydrant and finally succumbed, disappearing slowly to that big doghouse in the sky.

After 2 minutes of combat I managed to kill the Behemoth. And brought my fav guy back with the puppies perk. smile.gif

I wonder how Beth will change things up this time. Creatures should not just be bullet sponges at high level, but have different methods of attack. It would be cool to see Albinos try to pick you up in their claws before they wack you with their stingers. Sure would make combat fun!

The picking up thing - there are a few enemies in ESO that do that, and it is scary as heck because you can't fight it or them while being held; and are most def receiving damage the whole time they have you in the air! Thank goodness it only lasts 5-8 seconds. When you break free from one of them, you better give it all you got before you get picked up again.

I would like to see ghouls hidden behind bathroom stall doors, to pop out at you when you open the stall door or as you are passing the door for it to fly open and a ghoul lunge out. (scare the crap out of you).

The ghoul idea is great! Yeah, more immersion like that would be so neat.

Just for info. What price are you folks hoping to pick up FO4 for? In Australia I see that Big W has the game for $69 and the Prima guide for another $20. That is probably the best deal from a shop I can find. Online from overseas would of course be cheaper again.

Normal games sell for around $78 here.

New games in America (in the D.C. area) have been hovering around $64.00 for years now, but I think this next generation might finally bump past this mark.

I can remember back in the 1980s, buying some Atari games for somewhere around $40.00. Which seems sort of funny to me, because $40.00 to $64.00 isn't really that much, inflation-wise, considering 30+ years have passed.

RE: the BOLDed section above: Geez that ghoul you described used to be my boss!

On the game = I paid 59.99 for the game in pre-order; so you may as well say 60.00. Add taxes and the 11.00 I paid to rush it to me on wings; it totaled at just under 75.00 American dollars.

Lopov
I'll be like mirocu, I won't play FO4. Not because of Steam but because my laptop can't handle it with only 4 GB of RAM. At first I was saddened but when I read that the protagonist is voiced and that even more background is forced upon you compared to FO3 and FNV, I began doubting that FO4 would be that appealing for my tastes.
SubRosa
What are Fallout 4 requirements? Okay, now I have to look it up.

CODE
Minimum
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent

Recommended
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent

Does this mean the game is actually coded in 64 bit? It must be if they expect you to use 8gig of ram. Not to mention Win 7+. I feel your pain with an older system Lopov. But I have to say, it is about time that developers started making 64 bit games and taking advantage of the extra resources they can use. After all, it has been 6 years since we have had a 64-bit OS (I am not counting Vista, just 64-bit Win 7).

30 gig of hard drive space? That is going to be a loong download. Especially for those folks buying on Day One (No one is going to be using the Internet at mALX's house that day!) Though I suppose they might allow pre-Day One downloads like Gog did with Witcher 3, and only have one little piece left you need to download on release day.
ghastley
There was a 64-bit version of Win XP, too.
mirocu
Maybe we could use a Fallout 4 thread for this? Seems to be lots to talk about smile.gif
Winter Wolf
Thanks for the replies on the dollar price. I always had an impression that we in Oz land paid heaps more than the States for games. I see that it is not too far different. The price, no matter what, is still cheap considering it is 3 or 4 years worth of work by Beth.

30-40 gig install is standard these days. That is why I still prefer to grab the 'old' disc version of the game instead of a download. I would not be able to play the game until December if I had to download. Lol.

Just finished a stealth raid on the islandīs western parts. Found a few critters I hadnīt shot at yet, but I really have run out of things to do* so Iīm currently back on the Dutchess about to head home.

*Well, I could follow up on a few quests but they donīt interest me much.
