Deeno obtained the last special key, wanted by Mr. Crowley. Though Jeff Strayer was already deceased, his son Ted had the required key. And as soon as the boy handed the key to Deeno and turned his back around, "Snake Eyes" shot him in the back. indifferent.gif

While staying in Rivet City, Deeno also tracked down the missing android. He effectively carried out a malicious plan - first he convinced Harkness that he'll help him against Zimmer so Harkness gave him his expensive rifle to deal with Zimmer. Then Deeno turned Harkness in to Zimmer but as Zimmer was leading Harkness out of the Rivet City, he ambushed them at the stairwell, killed Zimmer, his bodyguard Armitage and lastly Harkness. Then he took Harkness' security uniform and a key of the Rivet City Armory. So now "Snake Eyes" has a new outfit and an expensive rifle which he'll gladly sell for lots of caps.

Einar is playing the hand he was dealt. I like the choice of words there, and through the rest of it. It sounds like Einar is a rambling, gambling man. goodjob.gif

Yeah, this is what I like too. I like the uncertainty with Einar's situation. He doesn't seem to know who to trust yet, if anybody.

OMG, I have never made it to rob the RC armory! I've gotten inside, but never survived long enough to get out of there with anything worthwhile! I want to hear every detail of that mission! (please?)

For some reason I can't explain, I had at one point stopped doing the Chryslus building. Well, I did it yesterday and was stunned at the amount of loot in that place! l Unfortunately, the reason I stopped doing it became clear soon enough. That place is never ending! I was praying to find an end to it long before I did, and when I finally got out I had to exit the game and give myself a break, laugh.gif

But boy is there a ton of loot in there! So I have about 5 misc and side quests left to do before there will be nothing more to do but the main questlline. (Actually, there are a few more than that, but I think I wasn't wanting to do a couple of them.

But when they are done, I have the choice of furthering the main questline or doing some DLC; not really sure which I'll do. I sure do love it when the Enclave starts swarming everywhere; but ... hate the Dr. Li and Daddy stuff. (which is why I've been dragging my feet on that).

Winter Wolf
Deeno has shot another person in the back. Ha! You would think that a man without serpent eyes would give a person a reason to pause. Too many trusting people in this world. laugh.gif

Chryslus is so bad that even the gnomes there hold up 'help' signs. Lol.

That is the one thing that Fallout 3 does better than 4. I love the huge interior cells and those epic long battles with Muties and Sentry Bots. In the same way I also enjoy Oblivion more than Skyrim interior cells. It is like Beth is giving us more content these days but less detail.

Once you get inside the Statesman, you can't escape without togging clipping and floating up above the bed you first enter at; or doing Reilly's quest.

I have also wanted to get out of there, it gets claustrophobic after a while.

Lopov
@Renee - why does Deeno's poster look "almost real"? It is real. bigsmile.gif

@mALX - he didn't rob the armory yet, he just took its key and will take a look inside the next time he's in Rivet City. I don't really remember the Chryslus Building, it's been years since I've been there. I'm thinking of advancing the MQ in Deeno's game so that the Enclave will arrive. Deeno's not from Vault 101, I used a custom start for him so the only way to spawn them in his game is to use the console to advance the MQ unless I find some mod that does it.

@Winter Wolf - he has quite a silver tongue, especially when it comes to ladies [Lady Killer Perk]. But he made sure to kill Ted on the flight deck, away from prying eyes and ears. All they heard was "just another gunshot".

@mirocu - Deeno is my meanest character in the Capital DC. I'm curious how far will he make it, he's strictly Dead-Is-Dead. He almost died only once so far and that was when he was swimming in the broken bow of Rivet City and couldn't find a way out. Regarding the Statesman Hotel - once you complete Reilly's quest, you can use the elevator to freely move between the lobby and upper floors, however, you can't exit the hotel via the broken tower connecting the hotel and the hospital.

Yeah, even if you make it to the roof you can't fast travel from there; so you are stuck completing that quest - it is about the only thing I don't like about that quest; forced to go through it in one gulp.

Well, I finally realized why I couldn't go back out that place where you enter on that broken radio tower bridge, it is because you have to drop down into the hotel.

So when I wanted a break from that hotel; I went back to that bed, toggled clipping, and floated back up into that area where the radio bridge ends in the hotel side; then save and exit the game, come back fresh another time, laugh.gif

It is kind of like Mothership Zeta; in that once you start you are in for the long haul.

mirocu
The real problem begins when you want to re-explore and forget that you canīt get out because the quest is already over laugh.gif
Lopov
But you can get out because the elevator works and you can travel between the roof and the lobby. Unless there's some glitch in the un-patched game which disables the elevator in the base game after the quest is over. I never had any problems in the Statesman, though. smile.gif

No, the elevator is broken till you fix it in the Reilly quest. Before then you are stuck in that hotel. I somehow had the Rangers turn on me one game, and it blocked them from doing the quest. I was stuck - ended up starting a new game because that was before SubRosa told me about toggling clipping.

He meant the elevator works after the quest is done, but if it does Iīm sure I would have discovered that or maybe I simply didnīt think of it this time. Iīm pretty sure I have gotten out at other times after the quest so there must be something to it and I just missed it.

Yes, the elevator works fine the rest of the game after it is fixed during that quest.

I'm starting to get nostalgic for Fallout 3 now...

I've had to put New Vegas on hold. I got as far as Nipton, and something about that place has just utterly killed the mood for me. I think Einar's kind of freaked out by it, and wants out.

Whatever the reason, the game just isn't any fun for me right now sad.gif

Nipton is most def mood changing; and is one of the reasons I avoid main questllines till I've explored thoroughly. But Nellis Air Force Base and Vegasl; Black Mountain and the Deathclaw Promentary; etc. - they kind of make a balance from the horrors of Nipton and that highy radiated SE airport where SubRosa's Molly Hatchet found her axe.

New Vegas is well worth the playthrough and exploration imho.

I had to go back one time for the sheet music (for Agatha) that I forgot to get on that roof top; or I would never have thought about whether it worked or not. I just wan't going to fight my way through the hospital and all those floors again if I didn't have to, so thought I'd check the lobby first. Elevator works fine once that guy fixes it in that quest.

I've played through the game once, I went independent, but I guess I must have bullrushed it. Playing it with a proper character just seems to have made Nipton a whole lot worse. IT's one of the reasons I deleted the update I wrote yesterday. I was kind of thrown by Nipton, and really half-arsed it. And to be honet, I'm dreading writing Einar's log that mentions Nipton, just because it's going to be so damn heavy.

One of the main problems I've had with Einar is that he simply couldn't go exploring. Partly because it was a little out of character for him, but mostly because it wasn't until Nipton that he could get hold of a laser rifle, so he was running on a major gear limitation. Up until then the best he could do was a plasma pistol.

At this point I'm kinda wishing I still had Fallout 3. kvright.gif

After leaving Rivet City, "Snake Eyes" Deeno was slowly heading back to the Tenpenny Tower when his PipBoy caught a transmission from Outcasts, calling their brothers for help. Curious about what's going on and eager to earn some caps, Deeno headed to the Outcast Outpost at Bailey's Crossroads and agreed to complete the simulation of the liberation of Alaska which was the only way to gain access to the Pre-War armory. Of course, he first made sure that he'll get paid and Protector McGraw promised to give him lots of loot from the armory once it's unlocked.

After completing the simulation and dealing with some traitorous Outcasts, Deeno found out that there's not much of interest in the armory, especially not the white tin can, also known as advanced winterized T-51B Power Armor, wet dreams of many adventurers but not of of Deeno. But then he spotted the Crimson Dragoon Armor, which he recognized from being worn by Chinese snipers in the sim and Deeno's dreams fulfilled as well.

He stayed on friendly terms with Protector McGraw and Specialist Olin, the latter promised to repair his stuff for free in the future. I believe something more may have happened between Deeno and Olin but whatever it was, it happened while I wasn't watching.
Callidus Thorn
Well, I tried firing up New Vegas again...

No good. It's still no fun. There's just something missing.

I've deleted Einar's save files. I think I'll look into picking up Fallout 3 and the expansions, minus Mothership Zeta of course.

Or maybe I'll try another tech-junkie character and "stumble" across the Brotherhood of Steel early on.
Renee
yeah, you should try Fallout 3. Go for it, CT.

After four years of enslavement Tina Keyes managed to escape from the hell at Paradise Falls. But two days later she wondered whether that was a curse or a blessing. Attacked by vicious dogs and raiders at the Drowned Devil's Crossing Tina barely survived the fight, only to be greeted by a minigun-wielding Super Mutant Brute a distance south of the afore-mentioned crossing. And while she managed to outrun the mutant by running back north, she witnessed a deathclaw slaughtering three wastelanders right outside the WKML Broadcast Station. It doesn't end here - after trying to find shelter in the collapsed church to the west, some sniper opened fire on her and Tina once again avoided death by sheer luck.

She was alone in the wastes, wearing a ragged settler outfit, an almost useless nail board, not to mention the tightly clenched slave collar on her neck, which despite being deactivated, caused her constant pain. Realizing that she'll soon fall as another victim of the wastes, unless she does something, she sneaked back to the WKML Broadcast Station and picked up a hunting rifle, which belonged to one of the deathclaw's victims. Thanks to the PipBoy on her left hand, which she managed to grab on her way out of Paradise Falls, she found out that the deathclaw was badly wounded from the fight.

A few gunshots and Tina brought the once ferocious beast down. Fortunately she still didn't forget how to shoot from her pre-slavery life, when she made a living as a caravaneer. With the deathclaw dead, she could finally enter a rather safe hideout inside the Radio Tower Complex, and after eating some raw dog meat, she fell asleep, firmly clenching the rifle, in case anyone tried to surprise her during the night. Perhaps escape from the paradise wasn't a curse after all.
SubRosa
Welcome to the Capital Wasteland Tina! Hopefully one day she will return to Paradise, and it will Fall...
mirocu
Yeah, I can definitely see Tina coming back to Paradise Falls. But it will not be as a slave, and not without a minigun.... biggrin.gif
Callidus Thorn
Well, got my character Avner started in Fallout 3. And I've already learned that I'm not playing this game DiD(Difficulty on hard). And that I really need to remember to save. He cleared out the Super Duper Mart easily enough, despite having only a 10mm pistol, but on the way back, at night, got jumped by that Enclave bugger added by Broken Steel, I think?
SubRosa
Broken Steel Early Enclave Fix will stop that Enclave guy from spawning at the farm, and the others who appear too early because of Broken Steel. Unless you like getting that powered armor early! wink.gif

I love getting those early Enclave surprises! They are usually at their known spawn points anyway, but it is such a nice surprise to get attacked early on (and like you said = the power armor!).

At early points in the game, it is nice to have it to sell, even if you can't wear it yet. (But thankfully, with the Anchorage DLC you can get your power armor training without having to do the main questline or break your game by going off map to get into the Citadel first - been there/done that, laugh.gif ).

Callidus Thorn
As an unrepentant consolite, and therefore bereft of mods, my fix is to take them out during the day. I remember them being a little tricky, but beatable. Unfortunately, on Avner's way down to the Super Duper Mart, the bugger wasn't there. Instead of an Enclave Soldier, Avner was attacked by a pair of angry brahmin, bizarrely enough laugh.gif

Lopov: What sort of backstory has Tina got so far? WE know she is a slave (that's what WE know), but what else have you learned?

Callidus Thorn
Well, Avner's been busy, albeit briefly.

He's level four, has a hunting rifle and an assault rifle, both in pretty good condition, after raiding the Super Duper Mart. He's also got a suit of combat armour. He thought he was buying a cheap, battered set, but it somehow turned out to be in perfect condition? huh.gif No idea what happened there, might have to dump it or something. At one point he ate some strange meat given to him by some passing hunters, which I've just looked up on the wiki ohmy.gif

He's now faced with a choice between going after his friend Mary(Who left the Vault looking for her father, Doc James), or go up to Minefield for Moira.

Lopov: What sort of backstory has Tina got so far? WE know she is a slave (that's what WE know), but what else have you learned?
I don't know so much about her yet. She lived a rather ordinary life, making a living as a caravaneer way north of the Capital Wasteland. Her father was the caravan leader while Tina served as its scout and protector, that's why she's skilled with guns and she's good at remaining unnoticed.

One night they were captured by slavers, all men were killed on the spot while all women were enslaved and brought to Paradise Falls. Tina was "assigned" as Forty's personal sex slave so she has the best intentions to return the favor and smash him to smithereens one day.

She's rather distrustful (no wonder), cautious in combat and if the battle gets too tough, she escapes without a second thought, only to return later when she regained strength. Overall, she's a good-aligned character, though four years of enslavement made her rather harsh.

--

In other news, Tina found coordinates to some place called Oasis on the Drifter's corpse. She doesn't know what this is exactly but since she's a complete stranger in the Capital Wasteland, the location is as good as any. After finding some rather well preserved combat armor in an abandoned tent roughly northeast of the Mason Dixon Salvage, she's now on a way to the Oasis. Now she carries two weapons on her back and one at her belt:

-a hunting rifle, her primary weapon for long-range combat

-a combat shotgun, about to break very soon but she cleared most mutants of the Mason Dixon Salvage thanks to it

-a scoped .44 magnum which she found in a locked safe in some truck.

The more the deactivated slave collar on her neck reminds Tina of Paradise Falls each time she swallows, the more she's determined to survive in the harsh wasteland.

He got it off Crow, for the princely sum of 34 caps. Crow had several suits of combat armour, and Avner was going to buy them and repair one to get himself some better armour. But it glitched and the armour's in perfect condition, so a real bargain.

It's nice to have a glitch work in my favour for a change, but I'm guessing that much armour, this early in the game's going to make things fairly easy for him.

And I have to say, Avner's majorly jealous of Tina's scoped .44 magnum.

It depends. Her collar is locked with an imaginary very hard lock and Forty has the only key to it so if she manages to kill him one day, she might free herself. Another option is to increase her lockpick to 100 then she'll be able to unlock her collar.

Or she could go to the Mojave and get "Fisto" - have him return the favors to Forty, BWAAAHAAA !!!
IIRC there's another Fisto in the Capital Wasteland, it's a unique power fist. wink.gif

Lopov, I forgot to mention: about Deeno. I find it amusing that there was a 5,000 cap bounty on his head, but a stupid mirelurk is the one who finally got him. laugh.gif Guess that mirelurk's going to be rich.
Yeah, Three Dog just mentioned on the radio that some mirelurk hunter bought a suite in the Tenpenny Tower - must be the one that killed Deeno.

Tina made it to the Oasis and that's where she's going to stay for the time being. It feels good to be among friendly people no matter how loony they are.

So while she's there, I launched a new character, the one that should be more interesting to play than Tina, at least for me.

He's a hobo. I mean the Hobo. That's how he's called. bigsmile.gif

I was slightly drunk yesterday, we went for a drink after work and first we had one drink, then another one followed and so on...anyway, when I got home, I had this idea of a character in my head that won't do any quests and won't even go near settlements and I just had to let it loose. So I created him, then wrote a short intro and by the time I was done, it dawned. Today when I came back from work (I had an afternoon-evening shift so I could get some sleep in between), I corrected grammar mistakes in the intro but I left most of it as it was so the text is a little...odd. cool.gif Anyway, for those interested:

And on the following day at work, Lopov adviced people to stop drinking as itīs bad for their liver.

I believe the term is "irony" cool.gif
Lopov
Telling people in Slovenia to stop drinking is pointless, even most persistent doctors gave up years ago. cool.gif

The Hobo arrived to the Capital Wasteland from the west, close to Little Lamplight. He carries a big leather backpack on his back which hosts all kind of stuff, from the Hobo's lucky pool ball Nr. 13 to ample supply of .32 ammunition. The backpack comes with a folding mattress, a must-have for a tramp like the Hobo.

He wears a warm roving trader outfit and a hat of some Chinese General which he found years ago and has been proudly sitting atop his head ever since.

His weapon of choice is a classic hunting rifle, he also carries a spare .32 gun, a few mines and grenades, and a rusty lead pipe for minor nuisances like bloatflies.

He encountered a few Super Mutants on a brahmin killing spree and intervened. Unfortunately he managed to save only one Brahmin but at least all Super Mutants are dead. Then he climbed on a high wooden lookout tower from where he watches over the Brahmin in case more Super Mutants would come. Yes, the Hobo is an animal friend.

A hunting rifle? A hobo needs a shotgun!

HOLY CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

*mALX turns lights on all over house, even though it is noon and sunny out*

Lopov
I intended to give him a double-barreled shotgun as a main weapon but then I settled for a hunting rifle. When he finds some shotgun, he's probably going to use it, his backpack is big enough for lots of things.

Yesterday I played a little bit of my Fallout 3 Lich - Loviatar, and got her look and mod loadout sorted out. I decided that she is not actually a true undead like Persephone. Instead her Immortality Serum mutated her, but she is still technically alive. She can no longer breathe untainted air. So most of the time she needs a breath mask that filters in poisons. She can only breathe radioactive or toxic air. Likewise, she can only gain sustenance from irradiated water and human flesh. I created a mod that raises the cap on rad resistance that I will be using with her, so she should be completely immune to radiation.

She is kind of like a Toxic Shaman from Shadowrun, except she's a scientist instead of a shaman.

Now I am thinking about a lair for her to use. She won't be living in Megaton. I have a feeling it might not be around for too long in her game... I am not sure about living at Tenpenny Tower. Can you guy themes for the Tenpenny Suite like you can the Megaton House? Because she ought to have a mad scientist lair, with a few skulls and body parts tossed in for good measure.

Lopov: You were drunk when you created THE Hobo? blink.gif If it was me, I'd wind up falling over a table or something! No gaming would get accomplished.

SubRosa: Loviatar. That's the gal who we voted on awhile back, right? To see which outfit looks best on her?
