Yeah, he does look good right? Butch did a great job!

I don't know if we can recruit Butch or not. He'd proably not last very long, if so. I mean, if a toughie like Star Paladin Cross eventually got pwned, even after wearing her full Citadel armor, a hairdresser seems like he'd be best left in Megaton.

Lopov
I checked, you can recruit him but not in the vault. I won't tell you where, Renee, maybe you'd consider it a spoiler. He can give you haircut anytime if you recruit him, though.

I might do the MQ in FNV with Mit. It's been years since I actually completed the MQ and since Mit seems to be inclined towards the NCR, he might support them, that's the only path which I yet haven't "walked".

Wow, the NCR was the first route I tried when doing the NV MQ, with Annie Ley Oak. The Yes Man/Independent (after killing House) route was the second time with Hecate. The working for House and Legion routes I have never taken, and probably never will.
Lopov
I completed the MQ three times but that was in the same year as the game was released, and then I haven't touched it ever since.

My first one was Independent with my first character Dyvanche.

My second one was the Legion with Huang Lee, that wasn't a real roleplay, I was mostly interested in seeing some events (like assassination of Kimball and blowing up the monorail) from the other perspective.

My third one was House with Sylvia, she was evil but loyal to the one who paid the most, and that was House. Her karma was so bad that even House remarked something like "he's getting afraid of her and he's happy to have her on his side".

Maybe Mit will do the NCR side. Maybe.

Lopov
Today I found out that if you cripple brahmin's head(s), the on-screen message is very accurate and actually says Brahmin heads crippled, instead of saying just "head" as it does with other one-headed beings. laugh.gif
SubRosa
But wouldn't you cripple only one head, and not both? Unless you are using something like explosives...
Lopov
Maybe if one head is crippled, the other one can't think straight too.

There is a MQ?

I know, I know. Old joke tongue.gif

I encountered Anne for the first time today. She only appears if you doom the Sharecropper farms by releasing radiation and instead saving lives of trapped vault dwellers. Since Mit saved the dwellers, this triggered Anne's appearance in Boulder City.

Wow, I've never known about Anne!

Lol. Some guys meet all the girls tongue.gif

As for me I´m currently staying in my hotel room at Rivet City. About to depart to the infamous Point Lookout, a.k.a Renee country biggrin.gif

Misa was working her way to Minefield the last time I played.

A couple weeks ago, when ESO was offline for maintenance, lol.

I have always saved the Vault Dwellers, but I don't think I ever saw Anne. I probably visited Boulder City in pursuit of the Khans before doing that Vault, and just never went back to Boulder City. There is not much there.
mirocu
I have entered Renee country and I just left the amusement park that is Turtledove Detention Camp. Just before I left I resurrected all the sentry bots so next time I visit I can look forward to some fireworks between them and the ghouls biggrin.gif
Lopov
Don't bots there respawn on their own?
mirocu
No, they don´t. Thankfully I have the console biggrin.gif
Lopov
Then I must use some mod that resurrects them. When Ally was there the last time, they were alive and kicking. Unless they were resurrected by mirocu first. wink.gif

It's official - Mit will participate in the war in the Mojave Wasteland, supporting the NCR. He's already performing preparatory tasks for Col. Cassandra Moore which eventually lead to the final battle with the Caesar's Legion. Calm and friendly, Mit prefers to use a diplomatic approach when possible. As such he convinced Boomers to support the NCR by fulfilling their dreams of flying again, he helped the Great Khans and advised them to restore their own glory elsewhere instead of endlessly warring with the NCR, without spilling blood he made sure that Omertas won't support Caesar's Legion and as the first man in history he achieved that the NCR and the Brotherhood of Steel signed a peace treaty, ending a long-lasting period of conflicts and battles.
SubRosa
Mit has been a busy diplomat! Did he get the BOS on board all on his own, or did he enlist the help of Veronica first? (she makes dealing them them a lot easier).

Lopov
On his own. By the time he established first contact with the BoS, he already found 2/3 holotapes of their missing scouts. After finding the third one, he was tasked with another quest that required him to bring various pre-war equipment to the BoS HQ and since he's been to many vaults before, he had all but one required item. So after delivering the last one he was given an option to sign a treaty between the NCR and the BoS.

He felt bad for killing House, though. He's not an assassin in any way and he was disappointed that there wasn't any other solution possible. But he hopes it'll serve a good cause in the end.

Oh there was another instance where his diplomatic approach didn't fully work - the Omertas. His Speech is high but it wasn't high enough to get Big Sal and Nero on his side so a shootout followed. Then Cachino took over the Omertas.

P.S.
I don't know who voiced Big Sal but IMO he has the best voice in the game.
mirocu
So. I guess the House doesn´t always win then after all wink.gif

Been running around Lookout yet again though less and less to do each time I visit. Not much to fight and basically nothing more to find now except unmarked locations. If I can bother tongue.gif
Lopov
Have you found Ruzka?
mirocu
Funnily enough I just read about her in the wiki. And no, haven´t found her or the T-Rex. May go look for them next session smile.gif
Lopov
Well I haven't found her either. Neither with Ally or with any previous character I've been to Point Lookout and I think I searched the place quite extensively. At some point I was so 'desperate' that I checked her location on the Wiki but fortunately I forgot of it by now. bigsmile.gif I want to find her on my own even if it'll be in 2030.

I found the T-Rex, though. By pure luck.
SubRosa
I found them both. Having borders disabled helps immensely with finding Ruzka. The T-Rex was just a matter of being thorough.

Thorough and lots of Rad-X.

So, fired up Fallout 3 again recently. Had one aborted run using energy weapons which ended in the prelude to a low-ammo/low-damage death spiral. So I restarted using small guns, with the intent of switching to energy weapons later.

So far Avner is massacring pretty much everything that tries to kill him, with the help of a reasonable chunk of luck. The first weapon he found after leaving the Vault is one of my favourites, the scoped .44 Magnum. Sod all ammo for it, but being able to scope ahead is handy, and as it turns out it can really wreck the Enclave soldier who pops up near the super duper mart.

He's about to head up to Minefield for Moira, then has to try and find James and tell him that his son is dead.

I have to say, I'm somewhat surprised by just how much easier the game is early on when not restricted to a laser pistol. By comparison the hunting rifle is a damned cannon! laugh.gif
mirocu
Glad you didn´t give up on Fallout 3, Thorny. It certainly is worth playing I´d say smile.gif

But has the Enclave turned up so soon? Don´t you have to advance the MQ a bit more first?
Renee
Hunting rifles are really good weapons to have when low-leveled. :gun: You got lucky finding a .44 so early--only thing is I bet it's not in very good condition, eh?

One of the quirks of Broken Steel is that it causes Enclave soldiers to show up early in a few places.

Yeah, the thing was in bad shape(and still only has about 15 rounds for it), but Avner* had lugged plenty out of Vault 101 to sell to cover the repairs, including every set of security armour he came across. That was a long walk to Megaton laugh.gif

*Forgot to mention this earlier, but bonus points to anyone who gets the reference wink.gif

I know how tedious it can be being forced to walk somewhere instead of running tongue.gif

Can´t claim any bonus points, btw. No idea what it refers to kvleft.gif

Callidus Thorn
Avner fell through the door, bit back a scream as he landed on his wounded shoulder, and kicked the door shut.

Moira is going to pay for this.

The mine's he'd been expecting.

The lunatic with a sniper rifle and a taste for blowing up cars, that was new.

Avner reached into one of the pouches he'd had Crow attach to his leather armour and pulled out a pair of stimpacks, and jabbed them into his right shoulder. He screamed as the drugs burned into his wounded arm and blacked out.

Avner wasn't sure how much time had passed when he awoke, but it was still light outside, so it had either been minutes or a day. He hoped it was the former, for Dogmeat's sake. Having already had one owner die that day, Avner wasn't sure how long Dogmeat would wait for him. He tested the movement in his right armour, finding it stiff but functional, and checked his weapons. All fully loaded.

He'd barely made it out the door before he heard the first shot. Must have been minutes I was out for, or the shooter wouldn't still have been watching the door. The thought hadn't finished crossing his mind before the second shot rang out, ending in the harsh clink of metal on metal. Avner threw himself aside as the second shot struck the car, and was far enough away that when the third shot blew up the car he was clear of the blast.

He had no idea what the building the shooter was in had been, but now it was less than a skeleton. But even that was too much at that moment. If he was lucky, the shooter had lost sight of him with the explosion, and if he was really lucky he could get most of the way to the building before being spotted.

It wasn't a plan, but it was a close as he could get.

Avner made it to the building, reached the shelter of a wall and heard a masculine voice above curse. He smiled. Mouse becomes cat. He heard footsteps from above and behind, growing louder as they descended, and he waited. He heard the sound of footfalls changed as they started across rubble, and still he waited. He saw the shadow, and drew the scoped .44 Magnum from its holster. He saw the head poke around the corner.

He fired.

I b34t the MQ in FNV!

Mit Tsubishi supported the NCR in the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam and secured the Mojave Wasteland from invading Caesar's Legion. Awarded with a Golden Branch, the highest civilian decoration of the NCR, Mit was offered a position of a Mojave ambassador which he gladly accepted. For years he faithfully performed his job, acting as a calm and wise diplomat between the NCR and competing factions. Violence was used only as a last resort, mostly when Fiends or other savage raiders were in question. He married Sarah Weintraub, his love interest from the days when he was still a simple courier and soon little Mit joined them. They lived happily ever after.

Yup, Avner shot through, but didn't remain long laugh.gif

I'd intended to have him find Big Town on the way, but I've only ever found that place when lost, so I've no idea where it actually is rollinglaugh.gif

I've also found out why I was getting mauled when using a laser pistol. The difficulty was set on hard.

That's awesome, Lopov. 2 b34t3n g@m3$ in to w33k$! No seriously though, first me getting to the end of Arena, and now you finishing up New Vegas. :gun: :nuke:

I made a couple of mods to help playing an energy-based character in FO3. The first was one that lets you craft energy ammo from fission batteries. The second was one that improved the damage of energy weapons, to make them equal to small guns. I never put them on the Nexus, but I could email them or put them on Dropbox if you want to try them out.
Callidus Thorn
Thanks for the offer, but I play on the 360. sad.gif

I think I've got some setting on my 360 somewhere that sets the difficulty on first-person shooters to hard. I started playing one yesterday, Bioshock, and that had hard selected by default too.
mirocu
Today whilst roaming Lookout I came across some baddies at the Ritual Site. Was cautious but they still killed me once because of the time needed to reload during which I couldn´t open the Pip-Boy and apply Stimmies. Anyway, second attempt went better and when I checked one of the Creepers he had 50 handgrenades on him! Biggest stash I´ve ever seen! blink.gif

I found the named Yogi Bear but failed to locate the T-Rex, mainly because I have so little time before running out of air. Though I did get some goodies from the safe and other containers down below. Will prolly return home to the Wasteland soon as there´s nothing much else to do now.

Pretty much tongue.gif laugh.gif

Those Scrappers and Creepers etc are very lethal with their guns. Even if you run all around, their projectiles still hit you. I wish I had taken a Fat Man with me so I could have dropped a nuke in their midst tongue.gif
SubRosa
The Point Lookout tribals and swamp folk do an extra 35 points of damage with their attacks, which armor does not apply to. That is why they are so lethal. There is a mod that reverses that.
Lopov
I only had so powerful tribals on my 1st playthrough when I didn't yet know about mods. Since then I use the PL difficulty fix.
mirocu
So, today I simply ventured from the Lookout boardwalk and back to the Capital Wasteland. Walked all the way from the boat to Megaton with very little resistence. No vendors had any caps to barter with and I´m sorry to say I did not reach my goal for this year which was 500.000 caps. I´m short about 89.000 caps.
I have parked my character, helmet off, on a chair next to his chemistry set where he will be waiting for the next season to arrive.

And with that my Fallout season is over! Can´t believe it frankly, seems like only moments ago I was reclaiming my patrol routes. Oh, well. happy.gif

Thass awhl, fokes!
