Diamandis: How do you simulate delivering food? Just curious.

QUOTE(ImperialSnob @ Jun 16 2013, 01:55 PM) *

I'm going to only post here from now on with my new charcter.

Beth admins have annoyed me(not allowing NPC Convo threads all of a sudden, not allowing What are you listening to threads, etc)

It's a shame they don't allow the Conversation threads. They attracted a lot more people over there, a lot more randomness. I still don't understand why they're labeled as "spam" if they are genuinely part of the game. If they are spam, why aren't "Favorite NPC", "What I miss about Oblivion", and other such repeating threads also not considered spam?

Jack sounds interesting.

I offer them a coin, pretending that she's actually offering food, then I eat the food I've given, as if I've actually handed the beggar the food.
Acadian
Oh, that's kind of the same kind of thing we do to simulate feeding Superian (Buffy's mare). The elf carries food just for the horse:

Oats - we have oats instead of rice in our game.
Apples.
Carrots.
Beer - it's grain based after all, most horses do indeed like it and one beer as an occasional treat for an 1100 pound horse is no harm at all.

So for dinner, in addition to perhaps crunching through some bread, cheese and fresh crab, Buffy also has to 'eat' horse laugh.gif food!

BTW, Buffy's down in the bowels of Beldaburo hunting conjurdudes at the moment. She just passed through 2400 hours of game play a couple days ago. It just never gets old! happy.gif

Lady Saga is in a place called Dasek Moor. She is not very well equipped yet, carrying just an iron bow, and wearing only leather boots and an iron helmet. No other armor, though--instead, she wears a burlap vest matched with some sack cloth pants. blink.gif She is also poor magically: over the years she's forgotten most of her Cyrodiilic spells, even something so simple as a Light spell! .... but she's exploring this place anyways. I (and she) have confidence that if anything gets too risky, we'll just bail.

She is making her way slowly to Skingrad, and will do the Mage's Guild requirement there. Not long after arriving in Valenwood in the Year 434, Erthor decided he didn't like the home of the Bosmer very much, and decided to return to Cyrodiil.

Saga wonders where he might be hiding.

Sounds like Lady Saga's making her way from Anvil to Skingrad. Hope the Anvil recommendation went well? Is/did she stop at the Kvatch encampment at all? Bailing if Dasek Moor gets too hard is a good idea. Extra loot's not worth risking her sack cloth pants for. tongue.gif

Good luck with Erthor. He's adorable!

Buffy just spent some time visiting Morcant (a hospitable and wise witch from Teresa Fiction) at her cottage by the waterfall near the road approaching Cheydinhal. Morcant has a fabulous way with animals and Buffy was comfortable leaving Superian in her care while clearing the nearby vampire cave of its denizens. She's just recovered her mare and is continuing on to Cheydinhal.

Did Morcant mention Lothran? It is now long since he set foot inside her little cottage but he has never forgotten about her. Thanks to her he now has the ability to summon wonderful forest creatures instead of those pesky undead wacko.gif

Sadly, she did not. But I suspect that Morcant is a master of discretion and likely loathe to share the names of her clientele. Buffy's summoning spells were learned elsewhere, but she loves to bring flowers to Morcant and her wolf. Oh, and Morcant not only watches Superian sometimes but lets Buffy use her alchemy equipment (top of the line alchemy gear is quite fragile so Buffy doesn't lug it around in her saddlebags).
Renee
mirocu: you are right, she needs to relearn the things she has forgotten. In her previous game, she had Conjuration as a Major. It was a school I thought she might use only occasionally, but as the world around her started to change, I realized I wanted her to Conjure more and more. I don't like the way the game levels up super-fast, so she would only conjure stuff when absolutely necessary.

Saga also got kicked out of the Mage's Guild in 433, and I always wondered if she might have been a better adventurer if she had Spell Creation on her side.

In this later incarnation of Saga, Conjuration is now a Minor, and I plan on being a lot more careful with her, so she doesn't get kicked out of the MG this time.

It did go well, except one of the battlemages accidentally hit an Imperial Patrol who just happened to be riding by. This Imperial fought and killed both the battlemages!

She walked by it, but did not go up there. It's just a burned out shell of a town in her game, I'm RPing that it's already the Fourth Era during this playthrough with my elf.

Hey what year is it in your games, Acadian and mirocu?

Buffy's game shows Frost Fall 17, 3E435. Couple caveats:

1. This is our second play through. We had to restart her at 1000 hours. So her current game only reflects the subsequent 1450 hours (that's how we get her total play time of 2450 hours). So, if it was all one play through, I'd expect closer to 3E437 or so.

2. We have our time scale set to 12 instead of the default 30. This means time passes at just under half the vanilla rate. If our two play throughs were continuous and we ran at a time scale of 30, I suppose we might have had a date by now of perhaps 3E441 or so.

I need to learn how to do that - time races by in my game, it is really way too fast.

It takes using the PC command console:

XX is the desired timescale (default is 30, where 30 minutes in game = 1 minute your time). Hit enter of course after typing in the above command.

What timescale folks tend to favor depends. I like 12. When the question, 'What timescale do you use?' gets asked on the BethSoft forums, the consensus among those who change it always trends toward 10-12.

Oddly enough, a slower timescale can make the world seem physically smaller. In response, we travel rather slowly and stop often to pick flowers, chase butterflies, play in the water or just stalk & shoot baddies. Using a time scale of 12 and dawdling while traveling works just right for us. It takes from about sunrise to sunset to travel from one city to the next if we don't stop to actually clear any dungeons. That is, about one hour of play. YMMV of course. tongue.gif

This is what I would expect. I imagine that with a slower timescale, I could walk my character from one end of Cyodiil to another (and back) and it would be daylight the entire time. And even with the default timescale, the longer I play this game it does indeed feel smaller than when I first started in 2008.

I think the 'solution' to this might be to go back to one of the linear games I used to play. Ya know....the games that don't let you go anywhere except for a very limited pathway. If I force myself to play Crusaders of Might and Magic or Legends of Dragoon or Champions of Norrath for a month, and then switch back to TES4, I bet I would get that awesomely massive experiece I used to feel back in the day.

Renee, as you well know, tmar's character, Baa, has a continuous game of just over 2400 hours. And his game time scale is the fast default of 30. We had this chat over on BethSoft at one point and I seem to recall Baa's in game date to be around 3E441. Based their length of play and timescale, that sounds about right.

We just ignore that lore assumes the MQ was completed in 3E433 which triggered 4E1. laugh.gif

Lady Saga is still in Skingrad. She is about to go find Erthor. I wrote it all up last night, but my Internet went out before I could save.

indifferent.gif

On a brighter note, that's beautiful you fixed your PC. If it were me, I would have come to you all, crying! HELP!

Acadian
Renee, let me know if Lady Saga decides to have Erthor tag along with her as a follower. He's essential until the end of the quest and, as a sorcerer, has a nice set of summon spells and is always two levels above the player. He's one of our fave vanilla followers for the reasons I just listed, along with the bonus that Buffy doesn't have to crane her neck up to talk to him. tongue.gif
Renee
It's up to her. Erthor tagged along (reluctantly) in the past but Saga eventually got sick of him and his whining, so she left him at Shetcombe Farm. laugh.gif When she went back to Valenwood, she wound up bringing him along.

I am gonna RP it that Erthor left Valenwood long before she made her return to Cyrodiil. Now that Saga is back in Cyrodiil, she wonders if Erthor has returned to his old tricks. wink.gif But yeah, it's up to her. I have no idea if she's gonna have him tag along again, or if she will just return him to Skingrad. Probably the latter.

I am wondering as I write this if any of the DLC I bought includes any followers. Don't answer this! I wanna find out on my own.

Skingrad, nighttime

Lothran left the Fighters Guild guildhall to stroll down Skingradīs streets in the night. It was a calm night, everything at peace. Then, as he was approaching the chapel he saw a familiar figure at the cemetary. The figure seemed to be working with a rake...

It was Gaston Surilie! ohmy.gif Gaston was literally working the graveyard shift! huh.gif rollinglaugh.gif

(never seen this before, didnīt know he could go there to work)

After that, Lothran felt like leaving Skingrad and head for Anvil again. He stopped by Shardrock to help tending the sheep and talk to Thorley. In the middle of the night, Targetfinder crushed some goblin skulls...

Anvil, dusk

Lothran is currently in Benirus Manor by the fireplace. He took an unusual way to Anvil this time. From Shardrock he headed straight west until he hit Brena River which seperates the lower part of south-west Cyrodiil from Hammerfell. Upon meeting the river, he simply slipped on a waterwalking ring and wandered along the river down to the Abecean Sea from where he jumped across the scattered little islands until Anvil was in sight.

The Flowing Bowl had the honor of housing Lothran for a moment, as well as The Foīcīsle. Come morning, a slow and wonderful day at the coastal Town awaits the Dunmer happy.gif

As instructed, Lothran said hi to Sparky from Buffy, and then went on his merry way out into Anvil county. Tīwas a lovely day, sun was out and all was still.
Except... There was some ruckus over at the Ayleid ruin Garglas Agea. Upon further inspection it turned to be a Black Horse Courier lady, chased by an X-dude! ohmy.gif The X-dude also had a Clannfer summoned and they had trapped the poor courier lady by the ruinīs entrance! This called for - tatatadaaaaa! -Lothran! biggrin.gif

The Dunmer quickly summoned his trusty Spriggan friend to assist, and with Targetfinder in his hand he charged the foul daedra head-on! With the new threat bestowed upon them, the daedra turned to face their potential death sentence.
Needless to say, the courier and her horse were soon free to run away, eager to do their duty delivering the news from the people to the people! happy.gif

Lothran also had the pleasure to say hi to Alawen who was hunting deer this day. She must be out of shape because she needed many arrows to take down even one of them wink.gif
Acadian
Aww, thanks for saying hi to little Sparky. Oh, and Alawen too! Perhaps she was just target practicing with the deer? wink.gif

Gosh, Lothran is so brave! Buffy always tries to save her Sisters of the Black Horse as well, but has never even seen an X-man (she's forever 19, you know). Just the clannfear would have been scary enough! tongue.gif

Ha ha biggrin.gif
See I don't always write story-based updates, sometimes I just like to pop in with a quick one-liner...

Ok so:
Niamh is currently heading back to Chorrol for some R & R after having been involved in some Vampire Cleansing. Handily her once fear of them has transformed into a deep-seated and abiding hatred, and anyone who knows her will know that Niamh is not a woman who hides her emotions...

Add to this the mystery surrounding old man Vando, so say "Great Vampire Hunter", and his cute, if rather over-enthusiastic daughter - (Don't worry Luciana, Niamh is a changed elf) - and things are getting quite interesting...

Lothran has left the build... ehm, Anvil biggrin.gif and is currently resting his legs at Brina Cross Inn. His goal is the Imperial City to offload some trinkets, and then itīs off to Bravil and possibly Leyawiin smile.gif
The night was mostly spent inside Fort Strand. A bit unusual, considering the Dunmer practically never do dungeons anymore. And this one was already discovered and picked clean!

I think heīs trying to tell me something wink.gif

So Niamh is heading slowly back to the IC, and Vando's daughter, but before all of that she's decided she really needs to get back home to Bravil and Luciana, to whom she has not even spoken for what seems like weeks now - (bless) - on the way though, she stopped at Tona's and picked up a couple of interesting new tattoos, a symbol of her gender, the sun and one of the moons...
The third, a small Elven leaf, is a symbol of her heritage because a girl needs, in the end, to be proud of her heritage. Changing times indeed...

And no, you can't see that one - at least not on here - because your humble narrator will get at the very least told off by the mods...

Later,
She stopped partway at Red Rose Manor, whose own ghosts have long since gone; the building now a neutral space, ready to be inhabited once again. Maybe she'll bring Looch here.
Maybe.
She spent a day and a night there, sorting through some of the things that were left, swimming in the pool.
The day was more restful than the night though and she was disturbed by dreams of vampires and in the morning an attack of the "Vampire's Disease" laid her low for a couple of hours, until the spell she wove took proper hold.

She resolved then to head straight to the IC, and Kendrel - she at least deserved some help before Niamh's own needs were attended to.
So she took the short trip there, stopping only to drop off and pick up some things from the waterfront - (she's not planning on staying there again any time soon) - and to drop off a letter with the local couriers to Looch, letting her know she'll be back soon and that she'll be a few days longer at most ...amongst other things... wub.gif .

To cut a long story short, things went as well as perhaps could be expected, concerning Kendrel; and now, after a (very) brief stop to drop off dust at the Order, she reallt is off back home, to Looch and some well-deserved "R & R"...
