Lothran has just visited Ancotar and helped him slay some invisible animals. He also read the book "The Doors to Oblivion" again, another annual tradition.

Last night was spent inside Fingerbowl Cave. Quite a lot of undead becoming fulldead, plus some necrodudes.

Days Passed: 66

Joan of Arkay left Battlehorn Castle, and began walking toward Chorrol, completely forgetting that she doesn't have to walk anymore, now that she's got herself a paint horse. XD

Joan is a generally questless character so far, but she's looking for something to do, and so I looked back at all the DLC I bought a few years ago and realized I've never done Mehrunes Razor, or Deepscorn Hollow. These two seem like they'd be perfect for Joanie to look into. wink.gif

----------------------------------------------

Phon: I like how you describe goblins not as goblins, but as green, scrawny things, as though Kallis doesn't know what they are.

mirocu: one of these days you should make an entire Lothran schedule. Like, put down all his habits. Put them on your thread over at fanfic. I'd be fascinated to see his 'schedule' all at once.

Acadian
Phon – I think those scrawny green things are primitive cave mer. Just look at their ears!

Mirocu – Ahhh. Won’t be long before all the little Brumites can sleep easier at night.

Renee – I think you’ll enjoy Mehrunes Razor – it's a massive dungeon crawl and very fun.

Maybe I´ll do that tongue.gif

Ugh, today was a nightmare. Kept getting CTDs again and again and again etc. I suspect it had something to do with a legion rider entering the cell, or spawning because Lothran waited an hour twice and there was always one of them there afterwards. Dunno.

I hope it doesn´t do that anymore now, it was virtually unplayable sad.gif

That's weird, it's not like you have a thousand mods or whatever.

Cold, rainy day. Left Cheydinhal about mid-morning and headed toward the Imperial City. Despite the weather, roads were quite busy with travellers.

By about noon, the deluge had not let up, and the party of three (Haili had not been located in Cheydinhal) voted to stop at the Roxey Inn. After lunch, everybody wanted to go up the hill, to see if anyone bad had re-inhabited the cave above this inn. And yes, they had.

But it took an entire day to get in there. Renee noticed that Felrika's armor was getting too bashed up, and this led to a 6-hour smithing festival just getting prepared. By the time this was over, it was time to get some rest.

Mehrunes Razor was the first DLC I tried and I liked it, not only is the location where it takes place, interesting, but there's a compelling story behind it as well.

Deepscorn Hollow is an interesting place to explore. I had one character that briefly used it as home. I'm curious what will Joan's "reaction" to the place be.

Quick update:
Kallis is continuing to journey east and south from the Imperial City to Bravil, although currently she's only recently left the immediate environs of Lake Rumare and the - (actually quite magnificent) - tower at the center of the capital still dominates the skyline.

Her journey, whilst now brisker than it was - (she's showing a marked reluctance to hang about, as it goes) - is nevertheless delayed at irregular points due to the necessity of gaining both money; "Septims", and repair hammers.
The theft of most of Kallis' belongings during her arrival in Anvil has left her actually quite short on funds, and prices in the Province are really quite high, added to the fact that most vendors clearly and openly view her with suspicion, to varying degrees.

It would be of little comfort to know that the woman she is ostensibly looking for also had similar issues. The difference between them is that, unlike the Princess, Kallis has no real qualms with regards to poking around in places, and ferreting out gold, nor indeed committing acts of burglary and theft of one sort or another - (it has been a part of her survival training, after all) - though that said, her one attempt in the IC ended unspectacularly when she discovered that the residents of the City have very little free cash - (or at least very little in their houses)...

It's frustrating but necessary, Cyrodiil has an overwhelmingly cash-based economy, more so than hers, and its a crumbling and faded place to boot, with very little to pick from. Much as she's more than capable of getting by on her own, if she needs to get anywhere constructive, it seems like she's going to need gold.

Lothran has now returned to his hometown of Bruma. It's been eight months but it's like he never left; everything is just as it ever was with the execption of his fireplace, but that has been lit now.

The road to Bruma offered some action this time. A Minotaur Lord and two bandits was on today's agenda and a fun break in the otherwise uneventful walk. The marauders down at Sercen and also the bandits inside the ruin offered some much needed exercise.

Lothran is now resting on a bench in the basement of his house. Next up he will unpack and organize all the things he brought with him from this year's excursions, fix what gear broke in the fights and pick out what weapons he will use on his first tour of the Jerall Mountains.

All is as it should be smile.gif

Phon: What is she going to do for gold?

-------------------
Tirdas, First Seed 12

Days Passed: 198

Slept all night, got up at about 8 o'clock. Roxey Inn was a necessity, because the Requisition Agent inside Cheydinhal had not had any Bandit writs. Which means no fresh gold to spend. Renee had had to sell Malene a semi-expensive potion, just to have money to stay at the Roxey.

Moss Rock Cavern was taken down quickly, with Renee, Fel, and Jada working as a well-oiled team. Two fighters and an archer, basically, surprsing the few necromancers and undead still living in this cave. Most of these necroguys & necrogals were downed within mere seconds...Renee and her followers being very good at blitz-attacks by now.

The day outside was lukewarm, as they finally headed toward the Imperial City, and got there late afternoon. Slept four hours, then headed toward Seridur's house to meet Roland and the others. Roland gave RG3 her reward: a ring called the *edited... no spoilers here*, which would reflect 25% of spells, and resist disease 35%. Very good. Since Renee is in need of gold though, looks like she'll have to raid her bank account, since she hasn't got enough on her person, and nothing important to sell.

Lothran enjoyed a nice afternoon killing a couple of goblin shamans outside Plundered Mine and in the evening he conducted business with Olav as well as checking up on things in town in general.
A bit of a surprise when he sorted out the stuff he brought with him; there were quite a few Frost things he hasn´t collected before.

And Lothran is now armed with Snowflake once again happy.gif

My decrepit avatar and Vilja stand in Newlands Lodge, Cheydinhal, where they just delivered the last of two shipping commissions to that city. They will, in all likelihood, lunch in the lodge before returning to Weye.

Their patrol of the Silver to Bruma went well. They encountered two ogres and three bears en route. None posed much of a challenge. My avatar brought down both ogres at distance via archery. Bears were dealt with up close and personal. Once in Bruma they delivered two packages, devoured a quick meal at Jewell View, grabbed new transport assignments and hit the road for Cheydinhal. Departing Bruma mid afternoon as they did, my avatar knew they'd not complete the trip in one continuous ride. This proved the case. As planned, they slept that night at the three-tent campsite a stone's thrown from Sedor. They woke circa 0530 next morning and continued on, arriving at their destination mid/late morning.

*note: I switched Timescale to 20 during this session as per the Timescale thread, my attempt to make Cyrodiil seem bigger

Deep into the night after spending time at Roland's place, Renee, Gabs, and Fel were all returning home. A strange man was standing on the path toward Maple Cottage. After greeting this man, immediately Renee could see his red eyes. He seemed cordial enough, but she sensed his true nature. A vampire standing just outside the Imperial City gate? That will not do.

A fight did ensue after a short conversation, and this fight took perhaps an hour to finish. Renee was able to grab her two flaming swords (horse was nearby), but was not wearing her armor at the time of this attack, and had to run inside the Imperial City for help.

But the good news: now she had her first batch of vampire dust to sell to Roland. Later on she found some additional dead bodies in the Talos Plaza district, all of these fallen vampires--so now she had 4 dust batches to sell.

Went home for a few hours' sleep, then got dressed and headed back into the town. Spent most of the day getting stuff repaired, buying & selling, getting a new steel cuirass for Fel, and finally taking a long soak in the market's bathhouse.

Nightfall now. Walked to Seridur's place, where Roland's promise of gold gold gold was proved to be true. He gave Renee 250 gold for each dust batch she provided, for a total of a THOUSAND, just like that. Now she'd have to return to the bank, just to put some extra money back.

Note 2: I changed the amount of money Roland gives in the CS too. Instead of 250, now it's only 100. I just can't see those guys in the Order having THAT much money to award.

Lopov
So Renee has her swords on the horse as she's traveling? Or does she wield a non-flaming sword by default?
mirocu
@Decrepit - Weird there were things left for the avatar and Vilja to clear up on the Silver, considering Lothran just took care of that laugh.gif

@Renee - A good change I think from 250 to 100. Especially when you think about how many vamps there are in Cyrodiil, the Order would declare bankruptcy in a few days! rollinglaugh.gif

Briefly, Kallis ended up in a cave system just along from Pell's Gate, it was filled some extremely strange creatures - well, aside from the imps, which were similar to servant creatures in her land.
Glowing balls of light, that set the hairs at the back of her neck a-tingle, and a strange spider-like thing with the body of man, and yet not a man. It was covered in some kind of waxy secretion, and hissed when she shot it

Everything really does seem as if it is trying to kill her.

She's now back in the inn at Pell's Gate, waiting for the rain to stop, before continuing her journey, increasingly though she doesn't think she'll much more than shadows in Bravil...
Renee
Lopov: At that moment, she was probably wearing town clothes, probably one of her silly dresses. biggrin.gif No weapon either. One of the horse mods I have allows the horse to carry equipment, so her bay has lots of stuff. Food, potions, alcohol, water, scrolls, backup armor sets, and usually about a dozen swords. The only thing is, this horse is used mostly as a pack mule; she rarely rides it because I figure it's covered with gear. biggrin.gif

mirocu: Is Lothran pretty much set with money? Is he wealthy? I figure he is after all this time. It's hard for one of mine to get wealthy, mods or vanilla, but the thing is one of my vampire-hunters on PS3 or Xbox would be getting really rich by now, with not much to spend it on. laugh.gif Something I've always wanted to change.

Acadian: Buffy never joined the Order of Virtuous Blood? I figure she'd like them!

Phon: Yeah I know the feeling. Everything's trying to kill me! panic.gif

Turdas, First Seed 14

Days Passed: 200

Slept until mid-morning, then headed toward Goddess Store, to get a couple swords re-enchanted, including the all-important vampire-slaying Bane of Kvatch. The Bane sword requires a lot of money to get it re-enchanted though--just over 3,000 at the moment. Renee was awarded this sword after being granted some sort of title in Kvatch. At the time, she had no use for it--it could cut a normal man down in a blow or two. No challenge. But now there's some sort of vampire siege going on, the Bane now is proving its worth! As long as she can afford to keep it enchanted, that is.

Day was pleasant outside. Not too cold or warm. After getting back home, RG3 decided to take off with Fel and Jada and Gabs. Everybody. Headed to the inn in Weye for a late afternoon lunch (early dinner), and then spent the night at Aleswell Inn.

NOTE: after stopping in Wawnet Inn and speaking to Nerussa, Renee got to talking on her "Weye" topic, and apparently Nerussa is a huge gossip about a variety of NPCs who have passed through. At present I don't know any of these names, but we can check in the future.

Since Aleswell was crowded, Renee and Fel slept outside. Fel apparently killed a vampire while Renee slept. She had a vampire "dream", and then when her sleep session ended, there was a message saying "Polyporic Hemophilia removed". indifferent.gif

Kallis has finally reached Bravil, though she hasn't entered the town yet.
It's turning towards evening now and she's been looking for somewhere outside of the town to rest up before crossing the bridge in the morning.
She doesn't know what she'll find, but judging by the looks of things outside the place, it's doubtful she'll find much that's prosperous.

Meanwhile, she's found another of those ancient marble ruins to search through - this one full of mystery lights, tree-women, and other exotica...

-------------
Ok, so now, there's gonna be a short gap wherein yours truly has to do a bit of fiddling about in the CS to sort out Bravil for the purposes of the story...!
On the other hand it'll allow me to continue Niamh and Lucy's story as well...

Daggerfall Silanu is still in Daggerfall, levelling up until she can go look for Nulfaga, by doing random Mages and Fighters quests.

Morrowind Silanu is in Ebonhart, where she's just done all of the lay healer quests at once, and got a few promotions.

Skyrim Silanu (who is Archmage already) is back in Whiterun doing some shopping.

Oblivion Silanu has just finished the Mages Guild Recommendations, so she's enchanting her Riding Crop to make it extra-tingly! She has Shock damage and Weakness to shock on it, so we'll see how that stacks up (pun intended).

Weye, Cyrodiil, Turdas, Mid-Year 10, 3E436, 5:55am. My decrepit avatar, clad in Champion's leg armor, chest and back plates, sturdy leather boots, glass arrow filled quiver on back, stands at Weye Manor foyer entrance door, about to exit the premises and walk to the Imperial City to gather shipping and patrol assignments for the gang's imminent journey to Bravil, final stop of their current road patrol circuit. He will visit the capitol on his own, allowing his ward to sleep in and breakfast at her leisure . . . so long as she is ready to head out on his return.

Backtracking to where we left off last report, we find my avatar and Vilja lunching in Newlands Lodge, Cheydinhal, reclaiming their beasts, riding the Blue to Weye, taking an afternoon swim in Lake Rumare, visiting the Imperial City Waterfront District, requesting a Gold Horse Courier shipping assignment, shopping in the Market District, eating a formal dinner at Temple District All-Saints Inn, accepting a Merchants Guild shipping assignment, and returning to Weye, where my avatar bid his ward goodnight and went straight to his bed, pausing only long enough to change into a comfy robe.

Waking circa 0530, Mid Year 9, my avatar slipped on comfortable shoes and hood, and broke fast on his private third floor balcony. He then re-entered the Manor, changed into Champion's leg armor, chest and back plates, quiver, and hood (retained), stuck his nose in Vil's bedroom long enough to light its fireplace, walked to White Gold Tower, helped Tower guards battle an invading bandit, accepted a looted glass shield and several Welkynd Stones for his assistance during the fight, entered the Department of Security, swapped leather boots for metal footwear, donned Champion's helm and gauntlets, accepted a road patrol assignment, returned to Weye Manor, collected his ward from the manor's dining room where she had been enjoying breakfast with the staff, put Wolfgang on notice, exited the building, claimed their mounts and Groucho (stowing Tower loot in one of Groucho's packs) and hit the road for Skingrad.

The patrol itself went well. Fine weather. Pleasing roadside scenery. As is their norm, they stopped en route at Ceyatatar to rid its grounds of any miscreants. A Frost Atronach was spotted at distance atop the ruin, an outcast mage close by. The Atronach was disposed of via archery. The mage stood by apparently oblivious to it all. The gang snuck forward to confront the fellow. (I remind you that my avatar's modus operandi with humanoid foes is to allow them first strike should they choose not to flee. He will NOT pepper them with arrows unaware, but only once they acknowledge his presence and initiate hostile intent.) The gang cautiously continued on until very near the mage, who by then looked as though he wanted to escape but could find no path that didn't draw himself to them. As they climbed the steps that would bring them face to face with the foe, Vilja was suddenly and unexpectedly spell blasted from behind. Turns out the mage to their front was a decoy to allow his partner to get the drop on them. Not that it mattered. My avatar quickly reversed himself, rushing the rearward mage, while Vil and Wolfgang ran forward and attacked the decoy. Both villains were soon lying in a pool of their own blood. Both were checked for loot, netting a few decently valued potions and one nice dagger. As for the Gold itself, its numerous reprobates, all bestial, were brought down at distance by archery, several at considerable range.

At Skingrad, they first visited the Vineyard to doublecheck with Tamika as to where her current wine consignment is to be delivered. (Brina Cross Inn.) They next tracked down the city's Gold Horse Courier agent, who was not on duty but instead lunching at Two Sisters Lodge. That package delivered they themselves trudged to West Weald Inn, there to turn in a second shipment to a Merchants Guild representative and down a not-overly-hasty but not-quite-leisurely repast. Meal consumed, my avatar changed metal footwear for leather boots but elected to forgo gloves and helm, having jettisoned them just prior to eating. (His thought was that, with the Gold having been cleansed, full armour was not essential. They then exited first the Inn, then the City, claimed their beasts and began the trek home.

Nothing untoward happened en route, except for a stone atronach who materialized seeming out of nowhere. My avatar attempted to bring it down by archery. It proved too close, though he managed one solid hit before entering melee. The ensuing struggle ended quickly enough, Wolfgang and Groucho taking minor damage, which my avatar healed on the spot (as he always does in these situations). They arrived home in time for my avatar to gobble down an evening snack before calling it a day.

Waking a tad before 0600 he again slipped on comfy shoes and hood and breakfasted on his third floor balcony. (And yes, he remained in the robe he wore to bed. Get your mind out of the gutter.) That done he re-entered the manor, changed into travel gear virtually indentical to that worn the day before, again checked in on Vilja, letting her sleep in, and as mentioned at the very beginning, is about to leave home and walk to IC to gather assignments.

Cool morning with the threat of rain. After stopping at Roxey Inn for breakfast (since the Aleswell is too asinine to offer any) Renee decided to leave Gabrielle behind here. "Don't follow us, you'll be sorry." ... for their next destination would be Barren Cave.

By mid-day, the sky had gone cloudy and dark. Even if Renee managed to lure any vampires outside, they'd be harder to kill than if it were sunny. So she decided to stop by Roland Jenseric's cabin, which was empty.

Today Lothran went outside the city gates and wandered about the immediate area. Some bandits were killed by Capstone Cave and later the elf escorted Honmund when he went to collect more Clouded Funnel cap. He had 322 samples on him before collecting more today and when the season is over, I plan to have Lothran check the number again to see how many he collects on one season. Weye Manor, Cyrodiil, Fredas, Mid-Year 11, 3D436, 6:25am. My decrepit avatar stands at bedside clad in the robe he slept in. He contemplates how the gang will spend their day. Their most logical option is to patrol the Gold to Anvil. Or he and Vil might instead cleanse the Imperial City sewers. Or they might devote the day to searching a cave off the Green Road between Pell's Gate and Inn of Ill Omen in hope of finding another ever-elusive chalice. Set in his ways as my avatar tends to be, I'm betting on the first choice. But it's not my call.

My avatar's visit to the Imperial City to gather assignments and subsequent journey to Bravil and back again differed from countless other such trips only in detail. He at one point thought they might need to spend the night at their property in Faregyl Village rather than press on to Weye, but this proved needless. It goes without saying (but I'm gonna say it anyhow) that upon arrival in Bravil they were awarded a 500 gold bonus for having completed another patrol circuit.

That morning he had all but settled on a patrol of the Gold to Anvil, and was about visit the Imperial City to gather assignments for said trip when, much to my surprise, he had a change of heart. He made an abrupt about face, returned to the second floor, roused Vilja (No . . . NOT aroused . . . come on now!) and informed her that they were heading to Charcoal Cave posthaste. They stuck their heads in Wawnet Inn long enough to break fast, claimed their beasts (except Wolfgang, who would remain in the Manor), and rode Red Ring and the Green to their destination. (Not much to say about the ride, that stretch of roads having but cleared of miscreants only the day prior.) As to the cave itself, their work was sloppy, especially early on. It's to be expected I suppose. They have not cleared a dungeon together in ever so long. (I remind you that my avatar's periodic cleansing of Rockmilk are almost the only activity he performs solo.) They survived it, which is good enough. Amassed a decent but not exceptional amount of loot, including several valuable pieces. No enchanted chalice, but it was always a long-shot at best. The ride home was uneventful. My avatar ate supper in front of the Manor foyer fireplace, bid his ward goodnight, and retired to his third floor private bedroom, where this missive began.

I s'pose there isn't a log for how many circuits you have completed, Decrepit?
Alas no. I too would have liked its inclusion.

Renee – It was a dark and stormy day when Renee was hunting vampires. . . .

Phon – Niamh has certainly left a wake of memories in Cyrodiil – as Luciana and, now, Kallis can attest.

Mirocu – I’m glad Lothie’s first Plundered run of the winter worked well. Even more pleased that the old warlock keeps managing to make Buffy’s modest Snowflake an effective weapon – just one of many reasons a piece of her heart will always belong to him.

Decrepit – When your avatar is on patrol or resting at his manor in Weye, it just seems like all is well in Cyrodiil.

Today while clearing out Capstone Cave, Lothran found yet another Khajiit bandit who did not attack him and instead could be manipulated to be even more friendly towards him. All good and well if it wasn´t for the fact she was the only one who had a Glass Warhammer, the item Lothran is missing in his Glass collection, and now when he found one he couldn´t get it! tongue.gif

Cool, I like this a lot. I like it when several people are writing.

Loredas, First Seed 16, early morning

Days Passed: 202

The morning is cold, frost has formed on the grass and trees*, and fog hangs in the air since it rained last night. Party arrives to Barren Cave by late morning, and by mid-afternoon, six vampires had been lured out and killed by Renee Gade III. The sun was now out by now, yet the vampires of Barren Cave would go mad with rage that they couldn't just kill the intruder who'd kept piercing their lair. And once outside, they'd face not just the sun, but two extra enemies to fight.

But soon it was getting dark, and there were still some vamps in there. The party would spend the night in Cheydinhal, except that Felrika was nowhere to be seen! Renee decided to just take her horse and Jada into town anyway. Fel's a big girl. Turns out, she had wandered slightly away from where the rest of the party was. Renee managed to find her the next morning, standing slightly south of the road, across from Barren Cave. She'd been out there all night, apparently.

*this seems to be an effect of All Natural's closest fog option, whatever it's called. It makes the grass look covered in frost. I'd post pictures but I'm too lazy tonight.

Weye, Cyrodiil, Sundas, Mid-Year 13, 3E436, 6.28pm. My decrepit avatar, his ward and their wolf have just entered the Manor, ending a two-day excursion that saw them ride the Gold from Weye to Anvil and back again. They will most likely change into comfy clothes and end their day with a meal at Wawnet Inn followed by an evening swim in Lake Rumare, time allowing.

We last observed my avatar standing bedside in his third floor private quarters, debating whether to call it an early evening or spend the hour remaining until his accustomed bedtime observing Cyrodill's night sky from his balcony. In the end he split the different, watching the sky 30min, then hitting the sack.

Up at 05:30am next morning, he broke fast on the balcony, changed into travel attire, walked to White-Gold Tower, helped Tower guards battle invading bandits (and one goblin), grabbed a patrol assignment at the Department of Justice, left White-Gold, solicited a Skingrad delivery assignment from the Merchants Guild, accepted a Gold Horse Courier Anvil shipping commission, returned to Weye, gathered the gang, and headed out on patrol.

The ride between Weye and Skingrad was blessedly uneventful, they having rid that section of miscreants only days prior. Fine weather too! In Skingrad they delivered their Merchants Guild package, exchanging it for an Anvil consignment. They paused from a quick meal at West Weald before continuing on.

This proved not so quick as my avatar hoped. When asked, Vil swore she was not hungry. My avatar therefore ordered food for himself and set down to munch. Vilja seated herself on the opposite end of the room. My avatar had all but finished his repast when his ward began to complain of being hungry. Cursing under his breath he approached her, asking once again if she wanted something to eat. The response . . . “Yes, I'm starving!” Much as he dislikes needless delay while on official duty, their tasks were 'not' time sensitive. He had the good grace to allow her a meal, while he sat nearby twiddling his thumbs, eager to be on his way.

Sated, they departed the city, first checking with Tamika to verify that her current wine consignment was slated for Brina Inn . . . it was. They encountered surprisingly little peril between Skingrad and Anvil, which would come back to haunt them during the return trip next day. The ride was interrupted only by those few miscreants they did encounter, and stops at Gottshaw Inn to gather taxes-due and Brina for Tamika wine delivery. Additionally, after helping a Kvatch County West Tower guard defeat a rampaging ogre, he noticed that most of her armor had been badly damaged or broken during the struggle. Repairs were performed before the gang resumed their westward trek.

As things turned out, they entered Anvil as chapel bells rang 10pm. My avatar paused at the gate long enough to pay the guard on duty three weeks additional rent, decided it was a bit late in the day to deliver shipments, walked to Benirus Manor, changed into robe, downed a late-night snack sitting in front of the foyer fireplace, bid Vil goodnight, and went straight to bed.

Up again circa 6:30am, he dressed in travel attire, roused Vil, delivered their Gold-Horse Courier shipment, delivered the Merchants Guild shipment, breakfasted at The Count's Arms and departed the city. No longer on official patrol duty they were at liberty to take the shortcut trail between Anvil and the Gold Road Kvatch exit, shaving a not inconsiderable amount of time off their journey. (It was during this leg of their ride that my avatar demonstrated remarkably inept marksmanship during a confrontation with an ogre, not that it affected the outcome in the slightest.) As they reached the shortcut-trail / Gold intersection the previous day's lack of challenge caught up with them. There, they rode into an ongoing battle between an ogre and two patrolling legionnaires, who appeared to be assisting a merchant's hired guard. My avatar finished off the beast, by then very near death in any case. Only afterward did he notice an unaccounted for horse on the road nearby, its owner sprawled lifelessly at roadside.

They were assailed too frequently between there and Skingrad, for the most part by humanoids who had had the good common sense to remain hidden in the bushes as the gang rode by the day before. More disturbing, in almost every case those villains managed to get the drop on the gang by waiting until my avatar was scanning the opposite direction before rushing them from concealment roadside. Such tactics proved inadequate, beyond the gang requiring additional healings, Wolfgang and Arrowspeed in particular.

They stopped at Skingrad only long enough to accept payment from Tamika for their recent Brina wine delivery, and to grab a new wine consignment (to Bruma). My avatar suggested a meal break. Vil again declined. He, not being especially hungry himself, decided to press on.

The ride between Skingrad and Weye went smoothly save for one bestial encounter. Despite numerous unanticipated battles they made good time between Anvil and Weye, arriving home in ample time for a formal restaurant meal should they so choose, as mentioned at this report's beginning.

Methinks Vilja is playing your avatar a prank with her "not hungry - oops, now I am!" thing. Lucky for her he is a patient man, but who knows for how long that will last? wink.gif

Level: 11

A busy day full of weapon repair, re-enchanting, and buying & selling. Cheydinhal's Requisition Agent bought two doom emblems from Renee Gade the renegade, giving a much-needed boost in gold, a thousand in all.

Heavy rain developed during the afternoon, but this cleared up as Renee was riding her horse alone, riding back to Barren Cave, looking for Felrika. She was found nearby. Apparently she'd gone running after some enemy guy, and gotten lost in forest to the south.

After locating Fel, the expedition luring more vampires out of Barren Cave was mostly successful, even though the entire party was not present. But again, it began to get dark (and also foggy) and there were still some left in there.

Hunting vampires with the timescale set to 20 (instead of 10), and with the Vampire Hunting mod active (which makes them tougher) is no easy task, folks. indifferent.gif

Headed back to Cheydinhal. The party would not have expected Barren Cave would turn into a 3-day expedition.

Mirocu, I think those Kittybandits are just intimidated by Lothran’s presence. biggrin.gif

Renee the Vampire Slayer! Wow, she and her gang are really mowing them down! Time to rest up now and sell some dust. smile.gif

Decrepit – Knowing your avatar and his posse are on patrol imparts a certain ‘all is right in Tamriel’ feeling of calmness. Heh, Vilja is simply asserting her gender-given right to change her mind – whenever and as often as she chooses. wink.gif

Kallis is in Leyawiin, still. She was at first simply going to leave after surveying the town its the unwieldy denizens as neither it nor they had at that point provided any clue that she might follow. It is a fact that she had gone to Leyawiin more from the point of view that Bogrum in Bravil had told her straight up to look to the northeast.

She did not believe him then and so went south instead, more out of spite in the face of his instructions than out of any real confidence that she might find anything. Eilidh never spent much time in Leyawiin, if any, although Kallis could not know that. Niamh however spread herself, metaphorically and more often than perhaps necessary, literally, throughout the province but equally, the people who knew her would not know to speak to Kallis and indeed as seemed to be the case with those who knew her, would not deign to speak of Niamh even if asked, something which was proving to be eminently frustrating, particularly since it had formed a major distraction to Kallis' primary mission.

So it was that, chasing two phantoms, Kallis walked right past at least one person could have given her some clue as to Niamh's eventual fate, and another who could have perhaps pointed her nearer to the Princess' whereabouts. As it happened, in the latter case sheer luck led her after much ducking and diving, to the hold of the Imperial star, a ship moored in Leyawiin's docks. Within the hold, in a small leather pouch lodged in the bilges, was a damp and mildewed parchment, all but illegible but which, after some study, was found by Kallis to mention both "a queer red-headed elf", with "emerald eyes"; and the Imperial City.

Its not much to go on, indeed practically nothing at all, but to a drowning woman even a single twig represents hope and so with that in mind Kallis says a silent prayer, rolls her piercing green eyes, and steels herself for the journey...

Orcrest, Elsweyr, Middas, Mid-Year 16, 3E436, 6:41pm. My decrepit avatar and his ward are about to exit Broken Jaw Inn, where they paused for supper, and resume their ride home. Should they not make good time on the road, they'll spend the night at their property in Faregyl Village.

This is an unanticipated travel route. Their original plan called for the gang to ride from Leyawiin to Corinthe, acquire a consignment of cheese, deliver said cheese to Border Watch, and return home via the Yellow as almost always happens following a Leyawiin road patrol. That hit a snag when the Corinthe cheese merchant announced that he had no trade consignments to sell them. That being the case it made no sense to backtrack through Leyawiin.

The day prior was devoted to my avatar's cleansing of Rockmilk. He berated himself for too frequent instances of sloppy melee technique, in particular not bringing his shield up in time for effective blocks, but all and all things didn't go badly. Much loot was pilfered though he was surprised at the scarcity of glass, normally found in abundance in the caves. This cleansing lasted somewhat longer than usual, enough so that he had to forgo a planned formal dinner with Vilja at Three Sisters. (They instead had a casual meal at Five Claws Lodge.)

The day prior to that saw them patrol the Green to Leyawiin, with stops en route at Inn of Ill Omen to gather taxes-due and Bravil for package delivery and a meal. They arrived at their ultimate destination uncomfortably past my avatar's preferred bedtime. That being the case, he escorted his ward directly to her berth in the Mages Guild basement, backtracked to the Fighters Guild hall, and called it a day. Their two Leyawiin shipping consignments were not delivered until the following morning, before my avatar's departure for Rockmilk.

I suppose I should mention that, before departing Leyawiin on the 16th, Black Bows were delivered to the Count.

And yes, the evening before these adventures began my avatar and his ward were able to dine at the Wawnet and get in an evening swim in Lake Rumare before retiring to the Manor.

I LOVE gathering up the Black Bows and turning them in for the reward to the Count! Haven't been able to do it for years because the RockMilk bandits and marauders have stopped attacking Maxical for some reason. She can't fight them if they don't attack, so just ends up taking the loot in the trunk outside and inside Punkin's tent.

For Lothran it does, RG3 doesn't use destruction magic though. She has two flaming swords (one of them is 1-hanced and does 20 or 25 points of fire damage, the other one is a standard Claymore of Burning, only doing 5 pts. fire damage), but even this is not enough. Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul has a feature which slowly kills vamps if they're in sunlight, so this is why she often lures them out of their lairs. viking.gif Even so, it can still take awhile.

Cool, pleasant day. Clear skies. This time, Renee Gade decides to get to Barren Cave early. Brings the entire gang, and forgoes getting stuff repaired (which would slow them down several hours). She does stop by the castle though, to turn in an ancient vampire stone to the creepy-looking Requisition Agent for another 500 gold.

Got to Barren Cave before mid-day. It had warmed, and not many clouds in the sky. The entire area around the bottom of the stairs was littered with dead bodies by now, mortals and vampires.

This time, all the vampires of Barren Cave were taken care of, and Renee became sure that this is the cave which Roland was hinting about on the Blue Road. Roland had told her there had been "vampire attacks" on this road, but he hadn't specified where these vampires might be staying, you see.

Headed back to Imperial City after Barren Cave's leading undead had finally been lured out. The party then took the north road once again, and stayed overnight in Roxey Inn.

Imperial City Waterfront District, Cyrodiil, Fredas Mid-Year 18, 3E436, 8:45am. My decrepit avatar is about the exit the Gold Horse Courier, where he accepted the last of the day's three assignments, and return to Weye. There he will collect the gang and depart on patrol for Chorrol.

(He normally visits Gold Horse Courier last during these IC assignment runs. This morning his thoughts were elsewhere so that he did not recall the need to visit the Waterfront until standing before Talos District entrance gate. By then it made no sense to backtrack. In any case his route remains the same, just executed in a different sequence . . . or so he told himself.)

The day prior saw my avatar and is ward wake in their Faregyl Village property. They breakfasted in the village inn, rode the Green and Red Ring to IC, gathered new assignments and consumed a quick lunch, and set out on patrol to Cheydinhal. There they delivered packages and downed a casual supper at Newlands Lodge. Their original plan called for them to spend the night at Cheydinhal's Mages Guild. My avatar instead determined to return to Weye posthaste. They did so, riding beneath the stars, experiencing a brief meteor shower well into the ride. Arriving home some time past his preferred bedtime, he bid Vilja goodnight and went straight to his bed.

The portion of the day before that not covered in my previous report was devoted to their ride from Orcrest Elsweyr to Faregyl. That report mentions that my avatar hoped to reach Weye before calling it a day. Why he thought so is beyond me. Time of day they departed Orcrest, distance between there and Weye, my avatar's desire for a reasonably full night's sleep couple with a strong allegiance to regularity all but insured that they would hole up at Faregyl. Even I could see it.

(Their ride through Elsweyr saw much fine bow work by my avatar. Seldom did he need to draw blade and close on a foe. This to some extent lifted his spirits, largely ameliorating, in his mid, what he considers rather sloppy melee technique during a recent Rockmilk foray.)

Man o man I hope my avatar never finds himself in this situation!!!!!! Like yours, he will not harm "humanoids" who do not accost him. Them going "nice" would not only deprive him of Rockmilk but made road patrols largely ineffective. Without those patrols his life loses much of its meaning. Sure, he can fall back on tax gathering and package delivery. Those might sustain him for some brief (or not so brief?) time, but he considers them as supplements to add a bit of variety to his near-constant travels on behalf of the Empire.
