HOLY COW! A place in Cyrodiil you've never cleared in all these years you've been playing? That is kind of cool that you are still able to find new things in the game, though. But WOW! Still kind of shocking!

This one which is just beside the road has been ignored simply because when Lothran has passed it he has been on his way somewhere and didn´t fancy a dive atm. Same reason every time for soon to be ten years now. Thankfully I broke the spell before the anniversary biggrin.gif

I went for years without exploring Fort Chalman; I think I did it in 2009 for the first time.

Renee
OH yeah, the map. Forgot about the local map, it's been so long since I've used it. I also forgot the game also tells us "You have just discovered X".

Kahreem of Weet is still in Bravil. He finally managed to shake the guard that had been chasing him all across the forest, and since his bounty is below 500, he can't get busted unless he directly speaks to a guard. He just ascended to Level 10. I put +2 in Agility, Intelligence, and Personality.
Andrea
So I've decided to return to Oblivion. I recently purchased it during the steam sale and for a while I've been all nostalgic about Jessika (my character). I re-read my fanfic here (Jess of Valor) and I feel I want to return to her.

Now just gotta wait to download it!
Acadian
Renee, something would be wrong if there was not a guard chasing Kahreem. wink.gif

Andrea, returning to Jess sounds like fun! Quite a few of us remain unhappy about the 200 year silliness between Oblivion and Skyrim - especially when you want to play the same character in both games. Some of us simply ignore it and walk across the border. Others rp that the border is closed but use something like a secret Pale Pass tunnel. In Buffy's case, we had to imagineer time travel for her. tongue.gif

It can, but the re-entry is rough.

Well, Superian can manage the 88 mph, and Buffy can manage the 1.21 gigawatts of magicka. The problem is pulling both off at the same time, given Buffy's inability to cast from the saddle. wink.gif

Tie a long pole to the saddle that has a hook on the end; string a wire between two trees; and have a shock mage spawn under the wire and shoot stormcall at her as she charges at them, laugh.gif

As for Lothran he´s still somewhere in the Nibenay Basin. He´s really taken a shine on living in the wilderness and has avoided the comforts of towns for quite some time now smile.gif
Acadian
Are you sure the Nordic Dunmer doesn't have just a bit of wood elf in his blood? Or perhaps he's just spent lots of time with one. happy.gif

Regardless, I know he can pitch a tent wherever he wants and can conjure up forest friends to keep him company and even fight for him.

I´m sure all the time spent with Buffy had an effect on him laugh.gif

And yeah, that tent is a blessing for when he´s out and about smile.gif

So I've been modding the life out of oblivion before I began with Jessika's journey. Better cities, natural environments, landscape additions, and quarts texture pack. Now Cyrodiil looks even more beautiful.

I added character overhaul for Jessica's face but it's not growing on me.

Hopefully I'll start updating soon! Maybe even continue Jess of Valor.
Acadian
Andrea, glad your game is looking good. Hopefully, with a bit of tweaking, Jessika will come out to your liking. I look forward to seeing some more fiction from you - be it an Oblivion or Skyrim story. smile.gif

Lothran is currenly eating breakfast at Luthor´s establishment. A nice, relaxing walk from the Red Ring road (east side) southwards to Pell´s Gate with the occasional bandit fight took him to the Great City. Awaiting shops to open, Lothran will then once again walk towards Bravil and Leyawiin.

This was one of those amazing sessions where no action was needed and it was just a pleasure to walk and gawk smile.gif
Acadian
Lothie's all set to go shopping! Buffy's jealous. tongue.gif

Well, my last character died off. He was inspired by a character in a series of books, and when I burned out on those it pretty much took my character with them.

But, after thinking that it might be fun to play a Breton Sorcerer born under the Apprentice, one turned up!

Pic 1
Pic 2

Kazimir Dayton, something of an oddball really. I originally took his name out of the strategy guide, so he was named Casamir Donat, but he objected so strenuously to that that I felt compelled to restart the tutorial to get his name right. And when the box popped up telling me that I needed a weapon, he scoffed and retorted "Magic is my weapon!", and backed that up by flaring his way through the tutorial. I think he might also be my first character to use a mix of armour; he seems to favour heavy armour for his upper body and light armour for his legs and feet. Leather boots and greaves with a steel cuirass and iron gauntlets actually looks pretty good though, so he might be onto something there.

He's currently just gotten off the boat in Anvil, early in the morning after the Emperor's assassination, which is something of a surprise for him. When he'd turned in for the night he'd been heading to the Imperial City. laugh.gif
Acadian
Welcome to Kazimir! A Breton sorcerer sounds both effective and fun. Let us know how he goes! smile.gif

Wow, I have never been able to create a male character who looked that good in Oblivion. He looks familiar, like an actor I know, but I cannot put a name to the face.

It is even better how he turned out. When a character speaks that loud and clear to you about who and what they are, you are on to something good. One of the reasons I like going through the tutorial dungeon in Oblivion is that it gives me a chance to get to know my character, and find out what they like and what they don't.

Have you seen Thorney's Dunmer males? He is a genius with those slide bars on Character Creation.

He really looks great as do most of your other characters, CT. And just like others, I'm sure that Kazimir will join the Mages Guild. wink.gif

I'm glad his surname isn't Donat else that'd make me giggle when I'd read it, Donat is a brand name of a purgative in Slovenia, the best friend of some of my older patients. bigsmile.gif

And another piece of information: name Kazimir is fairly common in our parts among elderly, it consists of two words "kazi + mir", kazi is derived from the verb "kaziti" which means to disturb / to spoil while "mir" means peace, so Kazimir means something like "disturber of peace". I'm sure that your Kazimir won't disturb any peace, though.

That pretty much the reason I always take every character through the tutorial, if even if my character's going to start somewhere else, just to find out how they're different. I don't know if I've had one respond to one of the tutorial's pop up boxes though, so that's kind of fun laugh.gif

Bravil, ca 7PM

Lothran and I have been to Bravil a few times already this summer, but we´ve never really hung around. We´ve always moved on to Skingrad and Cheydinhal and the forests. Now it feels like we´re here to stay and reacquaint ourselves with the area. It´s like meeting an old buddy; although you know them very well you have to update yourselves and sort of get in sync again.

I left Lothran on his chair by the fireplace. What happens next is anyone´s guess but I think getting into the spirit of Bravil is a safe bet. Take that for what you will smile.gif

Well, so much for Kazimir...

He was doing the Anvil Mages Guild quest, since he started out in Anvil. But things went a little differently than usual Caminalda was waiting in the road for him, rather than dashing out from beside the road. Kazimir immediately used one of the frost shell scrolls, mindful of Carahil's warning. The Battlemages came charging in, one of them hurling a lightning bolt that missed spectacularly. Then Caminalda hurled a lightning bolt at Kazimir.

That rather set the tone for the fight. Two of those lightning bolts were almost enough to kill Kazimir, with his 50% weakness to magic, the Battlemages were unable to catch up to Caminalda, who refused to be distracted from her dogged pursuit of the backpedaling Kazimir. I don't think she even tried attacking either of them. The summoned critters were no faster than the Battlemages, between the two Battlemages a grand total of two spells were cast, both lightning bolts that missed by some margin(the second came closer to hitting Kazimir than Caminalda!), and Kazimir's flare simply couldn't do enough damage.

The only frost spell Caminalda actually used was the one that killed Kazimir, after his frost shell scroll had worn off.

I'm thinking that there wasn't anything I could actually have done to stop Kazimir dying, to be honest. With Caminalda throwing lightning bolts around turning and running was out of the question, especially with Kazimir's low speed. The Battlemages weren't contributing anything to the fight, since Caminalda just ignored them in favour of Kazimir, who had to keep moving to try and dodge lightning bolts, but couldn't get the distance to do a decent job of it.

Sorry, CT. That can be a tough fight for a low level mage. Caminalda brought Buffy to her knees, then unconsciousness before the battlemages saved the day. Sounds like Kaz had particularly bad luck though. I've also heard of a Legion rider showing up, getting confused and attacking the battlemages! wacko.gif tongue.gif

I've seen that happen a couple of times, and it is kind of amusing.

But I've never seen the quest play out the way it did. Normally Caminalda turns to fight the Battlemages from time to time, giving my character some breathing room while the Battlemages rough her up. And I don't recall seeing Caminalda use lightning bolts before, I guess using the scrolls Carahil hands out is actually a bad idea.
Lopov
@mirocu - maybe Lothran can get acquainted with interiors of Bravil, so his thieving skills won't get too rusty. wink.gif

For me, Caminalda usually summons a ghost, and the battlemages both go for that, with their unenchanted steel weapons. whistling.gif

She always hit me with frost spells, so I started having Maxical drink a potion of frost resistance before that fight.

(technically, she drinks the "Philter of Frostward" because when S'Drassa gives it to her for that quest, she duplicates the 3 bottles he gives her so she has enough to find all the tears; and whatever is leftover gets used in this quest).

Really odd she would cast lightning bolts, I never heard of her doing that before! (and yeah, she always conjures that ghost too).

You know, I've never used those scrolls before, I wonder if they trigger a higher level attack on the player?

Renee
Callidus you are hard core. Dedication to a tee, with the dead-is-dead stuff. What level was Kazi? Maybe the Caminalda only uses lightning bolts once you get over a certain level.

Looking around the UESPWiki, Caminalda has Battlemage spells, which can include a leveled shock spell. Presumably that was as powerful as the leveled frost spell she's given for the quest. Combine that with the healing spell she seemed to have and it looks like I just hit a perfect storm of bad luck.

I don't know that I can play any other way at this point. I started out playing dead-is-dead in another game, imitating someone who wrote some rather good fanfics of his efforts. I guess I kind of connect the two; every character has their story, and It's not my place to meddle with that. Otherwise they're not really characters anymore.

At least, I think that's how it works for me.

He was only level one. It was literally his first day in Cyrodiil.

I couldn't have killed him off quicker if I'd tried embarrased.gif

I think it might come down to what spells Caminalda's given. There's not much difference in the cost between frost and shock, so it might have just been that she'd been randomly assigned one and with the frost shield spell active it was the most efficient.

But then, since no-one seems to have seen her do this before, it might have just been a glitch. I did think it was kind of odd when she was just waiting in the middle of the road, but didn't really attach any significance to it.

I have had some rather Awesome glitches that were just plain weird as heck happen to me in Oblivion. One game, no one's bodies disappeared; instead they were all hanging in the air low to the ground as if they were crucified on crosses - very eeried looking; and as the game went on more and more bodies since they were respawning like that every time I turned the game on!

Another time, Maxical was a vampire and died in a relatively easy fight due to sun damage - but she didn't die. She fell to the ground in the death pose, but I could move her dead body across the ground and fast travel it. And even shutting the game off and starting it up again she would be dead, but I could move her around. All she could see was everyone's feet. (which is how she ended up dying but remaining in the story in my fic story over at the BGSF)
