What friends does Lothran have in the Imperial City? Just curious.

Loredas, First Seed 2

Days Passed: 188

IPB Image

When Renee Gade III woke up on this day, it was cold and foggy, and she was only wearing her flimsy Xena armor. She quickly changed into her Imperial armor suit, got the others ready to go. Made it back home by mid-morning, and by noon was finely dressed, selling some things she found in the markets, with the whole party present.

Early afternoon: Jensine told them a "red-haired lady" was curious to know if any adventurers would be around* for hire, and (long story short) Renee is to go to Fort Homestead to confront a marauder/merchant there who has been extorting money from Delos Fandas of The Feed Bag.

After picking up this quest from Jensine, and meeting the red-haired lady, it was time to go to the spa for hours. SOAK! Then they went to visit Seridur's place, once it began getting dark. By the time they left, Seridur had refused to believe Roland is not a vampire, so RG3 decided to have a look in Seridur's house the next day (during daylight) to see if he's in there sleeping. If Seridur has a habit of sleeping during the day, wouldn't it seem he'd be more likely to be one of those damned undead? Hmm...

Rain began falling late in the night, and the sky got cold.

* Test Quest 11--In this one, I experimented with Escort packages (like when Jollring escorts us up the stairs to see Umbacano). The red-haired lady mentioned in this update wanted to hire RG3 and her followers, but she wanted Renee to follow her to a quieter corner of The Feed Bag. You folks wouldn't believe how complicated it is to get this sort of thing to work!

There´s a handful of people he gets along with like Roderic, Ida Vlinorman, S´rathad, Algot the Northerner, Methredel and Dynari Amnis. But he also likes to speak with almost anyone he´s had a history with smile.gif

Sun's Dawn 27, 4th Era 21

Days Passed: 185

Pleasant morning. The party has been getting along mostly, which is nice.

Sleeping outside may not have been a great idea though. She originally did this so the single bed would not need to be shared by her, and also to get away from the constant chatter inside Roxey Inn.

But a vampire visited Renee in the night, and infected her with polypyric hemophilia. Easily cured since she has some mandrake, but now RG3 is on a roll for Barren Cave. The vamps there will pay!

But first, Roland Jenseric's cabin.

Long story short: there's no way Roland could be a vampire. He was greeted while awake in his cabin, with sunlight streaming through the windows. Roland explained that Seridur's really the vampire, which makes sense since he only wants to meet at night.

Went to Barren Cave and took care of most of the vamps in there. The final one was toughest, and mostly because when she followed RG3 out of the cave, it was getting dark, meaning that this vamp's health would not fall due to sunlight.* RG3 almost died.

But now it is late night at Cheydinhal Bridge Inn. Renee has healed herself from vampire's sickness again at the chapel, and is about to go to sleep.

* Maskar's has a cool feature which makes NPC vampires die quicker if they're under sunlight

I had no idea you could be visited by a vampire sleeping outside the Roxey! That is Awesome! Your modded game is so much more exciting than the vanilla game, so I wondered if this was something you added or in the vanilla? Either way, I LOVE it !!!!

RG3 almost died.

Is she strictly DiD?

Yes, and that was one heck of a close call!

Although I wrote this update maybe a month ago, I still remember it. RG3 had left her entire party outside the cave (to prevent them from going nuts in there, running amok). Then RG3 would go in, try to kill a vampire while inside the place, but sometimes they are simply too powerful, because they are in their own lair. Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul makes them more powerful if it's dark, you see.

But if they get lured outside, they'll now begin losing health, as long as it's daylight. ph34r.gif Problem was, that very last vamp ... she lured it out while the sun was already down. And so even though the rest of her party was fighting the thing, the vampire itself kept focusing on RG3, which made it tough to heal her because she's running the entire time. panic.gif

This is AWESOME !!!!! Really wish you had a video diary of this!

Lothran has just spent a nice evening in the Imperial City. Visiting friends and enjoying the city has been on the agenda and come late evening he booked a room at the hotel in Talos Plaza. It was nice and quiet in the lounge where he sat down for a moment before going to bed. No disturbances whatsoever.

He has just woken up and is putting his boots on and is about to go pay a visit to Umbacano´s home to look at the statues.

After this questline is finished, Maxical always went and "visited" the statues too. After that she could see them anytime she wanted in her own home, lol.

Well, the first time I played it through was on the XBox 360; and I did lose out on some of the pay for the statues in that one because (like you) I followed that second questline through thinking I could still continue the first.

Then my 360 got the RROD, and the store gave me a whole new XBox in replacement, so I had to start the game over from scratch on the new machine. My first character had like 9,000 hours on her game when that happened! verysad.gif

Anyway, that happened again after they extended the RROD repair/replacement policy; so I had to restart a third time. By then, I kind of had really started enjoying running those early quests again, so I started making a new game every time she reached the end of having done everything.

With all those restarts, I kind of knew in advance to turn in all the statues before finishing that other quest, lol. I also learned to get both crowns, and give him the real crown. Wow, what a fight; and Maxical ended up with both crowns and the staff of Nenalata = great ending to both quests; and even better when she retrieved them later and used them to decorate her own Skingrad home.

Renee
mirocu: Oh that's cool. He has people he goes and talks to. I don't know this stuff since you don't write stories. (hint, hint)

mALX: There are two mods affecting vampire stuff in RG3's game: Vampire Hunting and Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul. Vampire Hunting basically extends the Virtuous Blood questline by 100x! Maskar's affects the actual vampire gameplay.... like they cannot stay outside too long in sunlight, or they'll roast. I am not sure which one of these mods caused her to get bitten though. indifferent.gif But it happens more easily if she sleeps outside.

I appreciate your kind words, but there's no way I'd put my stuff on Nexus. I will share amongst friends though. If you ever play Oblivion again, I can easily write you (or anyone else) a quest which centers around your character.

I forgot to mention though--in Test Quest 11 I also experimented with putting the 'kill' command into a script. So when RG3 meets the guy she's supposed to confront, he immediately goes into shock and has a heart attack. blink.gif I thought this was a more creative way to do things, rather than the usual "pwn" an enemy would receive. I will post some screenies of this later, perhaps. smile.gif

Sundas, First Seed 3

Days Passed: 189.

Foggy and cold outside, but also daytime. Renee grabbed Fel, then put on her Imperial armor. Headed back to Seridur's place and barged her way inside. Hmm. Seridur was asleep, right in the middle of the day. And he had nothing to say (after Renee awoke him) about his habit of day-sleeping. Both Renee and Fel had their suspicions, but there was nothing they could do though. He may be guilty, but they hadn't any evidence to just attack the guy, just for sleeping during the day.

After going back to visit Roland's place, and seeing he was not home, Fel reminded Renee that she's supposed to go talk to Phintias, over at First Edition Books.

IPB Image

Phintias did indeed have some info on Seridur, but would only divulge this after some sweet-talk, charming, and finally, gold. After this, he told them that Seridur would sometimes go to a place called Memorial Cave. Which is where the party will head eventually, after going to Fort Homestead to deal with the extortion guy.

Renee also got up her courage to ask the Redguard about her mother, Renee Gade II*, and amazingly, Phintias is the first she's spoken to who knows this name. Many more knew of her famous grandmother, Renee Gade the first, who'd killed Jagar Tharn nearly 3/4 of a century earlier, and Dyan phor a'Cauz (the usurper of Umaril the Unfeathered).

Phintias recommended that Renee & friends head up to Bruma, where he told them Dyan still lived, retired for over 20 years now. Phintias also advised Renee to try speaking to either of the innkeepers about Dyan, about where to find her. "If Dyan is like other Nords, she'll be visiting the taverns regularly, right?" Phintias pontificated.

Late in the day Renee returned to Maple Cottage, to gather Syssi and Gabs. Time to head south, to Fort Homestead. But but by the time everybody was ready it was getting dark outside, and the fog had rolled in, really thick and cold. Not a conducive environment for those who were trying their best to see enemies, before enemies saw them.

They got as far as Wawnet Inn, before calling it a night.

* Asking merchants (especially book-sellers) any info about her mother prompts the "Main Quest" in Renee Gade III's game. wink.gif And I'm going to make a very rare book (maybe it'll have a less-than-1% chance to show up in loot if I can figure how to make this work), about what happened during Knights of the Nine. It will mostly describe how Dyan's role during KotN, but will only mention Renee's mom once.
Lopov
I like Renee's search to learn more of her mother's past. Nice touch that Phintias directed her to retired Dyan. I assume you'll actually add modded Dyan in Renee's game?

I didn't know that you can talk to Seridur about Roland. I guess my characters always headed straight to Phintias and then to the Memorial Cave.
Acadian
Gosh, Renee. Seems like you've done a wonderful job of customizing your game just for you. How neat to incorporate the histories of some of your other characters into things. Oh, and great to hear about Maple Cottage and Gabs as well. tongue.gif
Renee
Acadian: Yes, Maple Cottage is her main home. smile.gif It is added by the lovely and talented Emma.

Lopov: There are several ways to do the Virtuous Blood questline. Even if we attack & kill the guy, I believe this will shortcut the entire quest so that .... well, this isn't the spoilers section. huh.gif And yes, I believe Dyan is already up in Bruma, complete with her own schedule. She lives in the Player House up there, since she was the only one who bought this house back in my PS3 days.

Time for one of the shortest updates ever. The next one will be longer because it'll have pictures, but I don't feel like dealing with imgur tonight.

Tirdas, First Seed 5

Days Passed: 191

Location: Pell's Gate, friend.

Pleasant skies outside, and also it's warmer. Overnight, most of Cyrodiil bloomed into spring!* Party went across the way to Fort Homestead, to find the guy who's responsible for the troubles in the Market District, this 'Cork Nuts' guy. Took Syssi and Fel, but left Gabrielle behind with the usual instructions: DO NOT follow us. Just like on the Xena show, the Gabrielle NPC can be too much to handle sometimes. She also doesn't get along too well with the other followers, and sometimes prefers to hide behind Renee during fights.

The siege into Homestead went well. Took care of the baddies in there, and found Cork Nuts the extorter guy, who suffered some sort of complications right before our eyes, without even touching him.

On this day, Syssi mysteriously vanished, just after leaving Fort Homestead. No way to get her back, and Renee did search for her rather extensively. Maybe she just didn't enjoy being with the group.

Next? They'll head to Memorial Cave, where Seridur is rumored to be hiding.

*Betty's Springtime Overhaul

--------------------------------------------------

And here are the details to Test Quest 11: The Extorter. Jensine often has her ears open, and tends to pick up work for Renee & her party

This time, it's a red-haired lady named Miss Terri, who has a job them.

But she wants to find a quieter area of The Feed Bag first. (this is a rather complicated bit of scripting called an Escort package. Basically, the NPC leads our t00n to another location. Sounds easy but damn, it's not. I experimented with this so I could make stuff happen a certain way in Sarah's game).

Miss Terri explains that an "extorter" has been illegally bullying shopkeepers into giving him money on the side. This man is known as "Cork Nuts", and Terri knows what's going on because she happens to be a farmer who sells her wares, especially to Delas Fandas. She overheard a conversation between Fandas and Cork Nuts, in which Cork Nuts demanded some money, or whatever. Because of the extortion, merchants are eventually going to be forced to raise prices, meaning that the farmers will probably get less!

This extorter guy stays in Fort Homestead, but when Renee goes to confront the guy, something unexpected happens.

Nooo! Oh well. Guess we've got some good news now, for merchants back in the Imperial City. See ya in Sovengarde, Cork Nuts.

He was just about to break the Siege of Kvatch when I decided it was time for bed. smile.gif
Decrepit
Mid-Year 7, 3E436: 6:35am

My decrepit avatar, his ward and Wolfgang are about to exit Weye Manor, reclaim their mounts and Groucho, ride to the Imperial City, grab assignments, down a lite breakfast, and begin a patrol of the Silver to Bruma.

Almost the entirety of their preceding afternoon and evening was something of a downer, redeemed only at its very end. The problem? Too much downtime. They returned home from Chorrol late morning with no idea how to spend to rest of the day. Following a quick lunch at Wawnet Inn Vil mentioned wanting to "go to the Waterfront and look at the ships". They did. Meh. They watched a fight in the Arena, my avatar winning 100 Septims betting on Blue. Meh. (He finds fighting for sport distasteful in any case. It's extraordinarily rare for him to visit the IC Arena. Kvatch Arena is another matter, but that's a separate topic.) That done, still early afternoon, they opted to go for a swim in Lake Rumare. Only, they'd barely entered to water when a thunderstorm moved in. Lightning strikes galore. Fearing electrocution they returned to beach posthaste and called it quits.

With several hours remaining before supper they returned to the Manor where my avatar took a two hour nap. Meh. (He wasn't sleepy, but what else was there to do?)

Supper didn't improve matters. The Wawnet was pitifully short on foofstuffs. It stocked none of my avatar's preferred exotic booze, so that he had to settle for no-name mead. The only solid food fit to eat was a slice of boar, forcing him to dig into his pack and provide the rest himself. They'd have been better off enjoying a quiet, intimate meal at home.

Dining, such as it was, out of the way, with an hour remaining before bedtime, they exited the Wawnet to a gorgeous crystal-clear night sky, in the midst of a meteor shower! They capped their evening strolling around Weye Village, eyes glued to the sky. Back home, my avatar bid Vil goodnight, retired to his private third-floor balcony, watched the meteor shower another thirty minutes, re-entered the Manor, and called it a day.

Not much to say about their visit to Chorrol. It went as well as most such visits go. I will say that my avatar was pleasantly surprised by the number of trip needed to transfer goods from Groucho to their Second-Hand Sales Shoppe coffers. He hadn't realized Groucho carried so much loot, what with them not having cleansed Rockmilk during their recent Leyawiin patrol. (An excellent cleansing of Rockmilk occurred as part of the Leyawiin patrol that had to be scrapped due to corrupt saves. I didn't have the heart to watch him go through that again, knowing that, whatever happened, it could not equal the deleted save(s).)

Enough talk. Time for another Renee Gade III update. Last we saw, she and her gang were in Fort Homestead. Now where are they?

-----------

Turdas, First Seed 6

The party stays overnight at Fort Alessia*, after ridding the outlaws who moved in (yet again), of course. The sky is cold and rainy the next day. Back to winter weather, despite flowers being everywhere. The party heads across the bridge which spans the north end of the Niben River, and then heads inland, looking for Memorial Cave, but the weather makes it hard to explore.

Party arrives to a small village named Wickmere Farm, and unfortunately, there is no inn here, but there is a manor which it seems Gabrielle can wait in. It's hard to say what time it is but then the rain stops. And it's definitely early morning, before 9 o'clock.

Ironically, Renee needed help to take down most of the vamps inside of Memorial. She left Fel outside, and if things got too tough in the cave (which they frequently did) RG3 would go running outside, where now she had some help. But then she began using her Bane of Kvatch sword, which was much more effective against vamps than the claymore of shocking she'd been using. The Bane of Kvatch uses fire damage, you see, and its magic is much more powerful against vamps because of this.

Seridur himself was not much trouble at all. He fell after 2 or 3 swings from her bigger sword, and then another two blows from the Bane of Kvatch (which is a 1-handed sword, she switches between two and one-handed frequently) did him in. Now the party's headed back to Pell's Gate.

* Renee ascended to Level 11 after waking up, and I dumped +3 in IQ, +3 into AG, and +5 into Speed. She can stand to be a little faster.

See, you don't have the same little "rules" that I have, mirocu. If Kahreem lives on the Marie Elena, that means none of my others will do this, unless I make a guy or gal who lives years ahead or before Kahreem, and he's not around.

Can't really implement that rule, considering Kahreem is not my character wink.gif

Interesting update btw. It's been years since Lothran did the Memorial quest and I vaguely recall what happened. I think he was still quite young back then and I might have been a tad worried about his safety, but he pulled through alright.

Apart from spending some time on said galleon, Lothran has wandered the City and also watched a couple of fights in the Arena. One win and one loss so no biggie.
Evening was spent at the waterfront and the Bloated Float and when midnight was upon Cyrodiil, Lothran chatted a bit with Armand about the various Fences available. Other than this, nothing major happened.

Edit: Forgot to mention disarming Lothran´s eighth Abomb smile.gif

Glad Renee managed those vampires okay in the end. Let 'em burn! evillol.gif

I wasn't suggesting that you do implement this rule, in fact, there is no rule for you, since Lothran is your only character, he can live wherever he wants.

Acadian: yeah, I love fighting vamps!

Kallis is in a fort just to the north of the ravine along which - she has been informed - the Strid River flows. There's a spur heading further into the southern land nearly opposite, or thereabouts. The province to the south is called "Valenwood", where there are Elves. The person who supplied her with this information, at Brina Cross, appeared to feel that Kallis would be interested - (on account of her having "pointy ears") - more so than the fact that this cross country route would be a quicker way of getting to Bravil where, apparently, she might find some further information relating to Eilidh - (she's assuming it's Eilidh, although there is some confusion on this point).

In the meantime, she appears to have declared her own private war on Necromancers. Necromancy in Cyrodiil may very well be frowned upon by the Mage's Guild and of dubious legality outside of it, but in Kallis' world it's regarded as a offence directly against the Gods themselves and must therefore be ruthlessly stamped out, wherever it is found - and that includes here in Cyrodiil - hence her primary mission is being somewhat delayed by, umm, "scope creep"...

It's still raining.

Lothran is now in Aleswell. He set off in the early morning and by midday he reached this outpost and its amazing view over the Imperial City. Evening is rolling in and soon he will trudge through the nearby Fingerbowl Cave to see if there is anything to collect smile.gif

@Phon - So nice to see you back in action again! And I´m glad Kallis is helping Lothie rooting out those pesky necrodudes. Vamps are bad enough but necros deal in true abomination against all that is holy.

I hope she finds the info she´s looking for about Princess Grumpy laugh.gif

Phon, so nice that Kallis is hunting those nasty black-robes. Valenwood? Yup, c'mon down - green grasses, cool waters and there be elves here! wink.gif

Mirocu - I can now feel confident that autumn has officially arrived. I hope Lothie got a chance to say g'day to Kahreem as the latter raced by on his stolen bay. Onward to Bruma! biggrin.gif

Well, it was either him or a Courier. But I don´t think Couriers usually have soldiers after them... biggrin.gif

On a real life note, it's really good to be back actually. I've never met any of you and you've never met me, but this feels like such an enduring forum and everyone's so friendly that regardless of the game - (which it turns out I can't put down, at least not permanently) - it's a great place to be. smile.gif

Phon, where in oblivion have you been? biggrin.gif Good to see you. Kallis sounds like she's got a job to do for sure. Necromancers, yicch, hate the things.

mirocu: has Lothran taken care of the 'problem' in Aleswell?

I have another RG3 shortie for today.

Fredas, First Seed 8

Days Passed: 194
Level: 11

The party returns to the Imperial City, where there's plenty to do, on this breezy, pleasant day. Buying & selling, the spa, and going to the Feed Bag, to let Delos know he won't be extorted anymore. He tried to play dumb, acting like he had no idea who Cork Nuts (the guy who was extorting him) is, but slipped up. But it turned out okay. In the end he was grateful, and there was free beers for all pretty soon.

The only blunder was Roland Jenseric, who everybody thought would be back in the Imperial City, but apparently he's still at his cabin. So this is where everybody heads next.

How nice for ms Gade the Third to have free beer now. Just don´t drink and ride! wink.gif

We have been... Absent...
However we are now all back and things are moving once again, and apace, at that...
-X-

Having navigated her way along the course of the river, including a spot of impromptu rock climbing, up and over a waterfall, that plunged hissing and rushing into the heady depths of the river valley, Kallis arrived at the outskirts of Skingrad.

Having been walking all night she opted to park herself at a convenient campsite - (VERY recently vacated by bandits) - and sleep a few hours before moving on into the town proper.

And here's where things start to get a little weird.
Regardless of the approaches of a strange individual who goes by the name of "Glarthir", who wanted to meet her somewhere at midnight - (because of course, she's really THAT stupid) - about whom no one will tell her - (she's rapidly forming some very firm opinions about the population of Cyrodiil, and they aren't all that positive, for the most part) - the people in Skingrad are acting oddly around her.

kallis is aware that she looks different, or at least unusual in a different way - (allowing for the orcs and the Kats, and the lizard-things) - and that she speaks with a strange accent, and is wearing odd armor, but that's not the point somehow - the people here are acting as if they've seen her, or someone like her, before; but none of them are talking.
The landlady of the West Weald Inn seemed particularly unfriendly when approached. Had kallis not already got wind of the locals' familiarity with a woman dressed like her, back when she was in Anvil and then at Brina Cross, she'd have put it down to the usual suspicions of the locals, but there is a jigsaw here, and she appears to be being handed some very odd-shaped pieces.

What she still can't figure out is whether they are alluding to Eilidh, or someone else.
Consider the facts:
1. Eilidh had a shock of bright gingery-red hair, which no one has mentioned.
2. To the best of Kallis' knowledge, Eilidh never had the kind of armor that Kallis has - and yet this HAS been mentioned.
3. Back in Brina, one of the people she interrogated asked specifically mentioned the other woman's dark eyes, only to be corrected by another, who pointed out that she was certain that this person had "shining silver" eyes. Eilidh had neither, she had green eyes, much like Kallis...

It's all very puzzling, and, determined to ponder on these facts awhile, Kallis retreats to the sanctuary of the cathedral. She, along with most of her people, turns frequently to religion in times of crisis, if only for peace and focus. Like many of her people also, she's not that fussed which religion it is, just That It Is.
And so we leave her for the moment, contemplating, in Skingrad's fine cathedral...

Phon - Poor Kallis is encountering the difficulties of traveling in her kinsmer's wake. . . .

She is indeed; the frustrating thing is she almost feels as if she keeps entering a room just as the person she's looking for has left through another door, and yet at the same time she's no longer quite sure that the person she's following is, in fact, who she - Kallis - thinks she is following.

The locals' doltish, tight-lipped behavior doesn't help any, nor as I said does their somewhat strange attitude towards her, stranger even than she would have expected...

Still even she would have to admit the scenery is quite pleasant, if somewhat off the point.

Oh yeah, and it's still raining...

QUOTE(Decrepit @ Nov 10 2016, 10:19 AM) *

Love the memory this one brings with it = of your Decrepit Avatar's inner thoughts about Nerussa, lol. (which, by the way = also brings up memories of SubRosa's Teresa!)

Kallis has left Skingrad and has been journeying for much of the late afternoon and on into the night.
It's been a curious journey, not least for introducing her to some of Cyrodiil's other denizens, about whom she's been largely uninformed - (Military intelligence in her country is mostly based on specifics, with little in the way of peripheral information, it's a failing, in her opinion, but even she would not dare question it).

From Skingrad, she crossed the Vinefields and traveled across country aways before picking the eastward road back up, having had enough of the rougher ground. Not too far along she came upon an old mine, sealed up by a tatty-looking door composed of rough-hewn planks.

She would potentially have passed it by, however a couple of things drew her attention, namely the skeletons lying just beyond the threshold, the pointed sticks upon which had been placed numerous skulls, and the fact that she was nearly attacked by a bear, which incident gave her pause in the first place.

Intrigued, despite herself, she found upon investigation that the door was unlocked, and so pushed her way inside. It was indeed a mine as it turned out, abandoned by miners, but now it seemed, inhabited by what appeared to be tiny green scrawny things, who crawled in and out of its tunnels in abundance. Curious as to what they were, Kallis, once she had finished with them, took the opportunity to perform an impromptu dissection. It proved nothing, other than the fact that they smelt just as bad inside as anything else did when its lights were exposed to the air.
She took their totem, though.

Upon leaving the mine, she continued eastwards into the deepning shadows of evening, beneath the ever-present clouds, sticking more or less to the trackway, overshadowed as it was by trees and lined with old ruins, encroached upon by the forest from either side.
It was here that she came across another of Cyrodiil's peculiar residents; a female figure who at first she thought was wearing a suit and headdress made entirely of leaves and plant life. It was stalking across the road ahead of her, followed by a bear which stuck close against it as a dog might to its master.

Kallis had the distinct sense the creature was less-than-friendly, and made the first move, quickly and silently. Upon closer investigation she found the creature was in fact made of leaves and bark and all manner of other assorted growing things. It was quite beautiful in its way and subsequently, upon discovering a number of them creeping amongst the trees, she resolved to avoid them, rather than kill them - (mostly).

Last I saw of her, she was still on the track, looking now for an inn or somewhere to rest up, the forest alive around her, full of mystery in the darkness.
