Nothing much going on in Joan of Arkay's game either. She got out of jail, and about to complete a rather uneventful trip from Chorrol to Skingrad. Just a couple stray bandits, four imps, and lots of generic, streamlined, dumbed-down Xbox scenery along the way. (ha ha I'm joking. I love my generic, streamlined games).

It is rather fun being with Joan because she blends Destruction with Blade, yet she's not truly a Spellsword, she is more like a holy battlemage. Yet, she's not really a paladin, either.

I'm not sure if she is going to Kvatch or not. We shall see.

mirocu, nice to see Lothie settled into his winter routine. Hunt a few goblins, sell a bit of loot, tip a few ales.

Renee, I can imagine how fun playing Joan is. Blade plus destruction simply fascinates Buffy since she is pretty much clueless at both those skills.

But she can cool down an ale and start a cooking fire....

That is true. A basic familiarity with all the magic schools was necessary for Buffy to complete her University studies. She took the 'Cooking with Destruction Magic' class to meet that requirement - and barely passed it.

Joan of Arkay is calmly exploring Skingrad. Nothing much happening in her game, except a crazy Bosmer showed up as soon as she entered town, and demanded she show up behind the town's chapel at midnight. She gets the feeling that nothing good can come from this, so she's going to ignore him. She saw some Redguard speaking to this elf the next day anyways.

She spend Sundas (the entire day) in chapel, and on Morndas she did a service for the town of Skingrad, and rid the bandits located just across the road from this town.

Renee Gade III is in Sutch. She is supposed to be looking for some lost item in Vorando, but she wound up getting sick with pre-vampirism, did not have any Cure Disease potions, and so she was forced to walk to Sutch, where she has healed herself at the chapel in this upstart town.

RG3 currently travels with Gabrielle (who is absolutely useless, other than as a friend & pretty face), Felrika (who got a little snippy with Renee, until Renee remembered to give this Nord some gold), and Bree. Bree is a blonde archer who does what she is supposed to do, and never talks back.

There was a fifth member to RG3's party, a male archer, but the guy disappeared. CM Partners seems to work best with a group of 4 anyways.

As for Lothran, it´s been rather quiet about him but not because of inactivity. He has been doing stuff but nothing that needs to be reported about. I could mention though he´s started another shift now and after having pulled the graveyard at the north gate he´s currently resting in the guard quarters

Long overdone greetings to you all, my friends. So much has occulated in my life since the last time I bemused myself to speak. I will endanger to regulate you all with the tails of my resistance. That said, I must first numbly ask for your indigence... it is a yarn too long to be obscured in one sitting. I sublimate that without knowing what traverses will again requite me the use of Volendrung, and without being able to predilect how long any such absess will be, I find myself a prawn to the predicates of fate.

That said, Malacath has seen fit to besmirch upon me his favor. Volendrung is mine to yield and, after our mutable decision to enter into an extremity-long courtesan, the fair Mazoga and I have accumulated into a state of parsimony... she is finally all mine! Our marriage celibacy lasted nearly a fortright, and was attenuated by friends from near and far. Very special gratuities go out to our dear friends Buffy, Maxical, Teresa and Julian for journaling all the way down to Leyawiin to celibate with us in this most happy time. Things have grown quiet here in Leyawiin now that Julian has conjured the daedra. The times that I have been bemused to bring Volendrung to bare have been few and far-afield. Renee Gade III is in the Great Forest, looking for a band of bandits who stole a cuirass owned by Methredhel. She's got 3 companions with her lately: her Nord friend Felrika, a dark elf archer named Jada, and a new companion... a ghostly-looking Breton.

I'm sticking with RG3 for awhile, giving Lady Saga a break.

And this was it! Lothran spent the day visiting the shops and talked to his friends. And come evening, one more mead at the Tap and Tack before the final night in his Bruma house bed because tomorrow morning he´s off to Chorrol!

Good to hear that RGIII and her gang are alive, well and exploring the forest.

Lothran will be headed for Chorrol! That must be a signal that spring is here!

Yup! Three and a half months of winter are over and now it´s time for green and lush!

For the record, I gamed with Renee Gade III last night. She is somewhere in the Colovian Highlands. She's become a bounty hunter, and so she and her gang are looking for some thief or something.

I hope Ms. Gade III and her posse take it easy so they don´t attack Lothran assuming he´s a bandit. He´s soon to be in that area...

I actually loaded up a new character I had made last summer, a Dark Elf vampire in the Dark Brotherhood and was playing him. It was fun, I get so sucked into Oblivion and just enjoy it. I can truly enjoy vanilla Oblivion perfectly, not so much with Skyrim, there is just something majestic and mystic about Oblivion.

Anyways, my character just finished "Whodunit?" I believe, probably my favorite quest ever in TES.

As for Lothie, he´s currently sitting in Wawnet Inn. He´s been doing some business in the Imperial City, dropped some stuff in his shack and now he´s ready to go back to Chorrol and the Highlands

Huh. The day Lothran left Bruma, that was the first nice springlike day we had here IRL!

To continue in this vein: Julian and I are testing our favorite OB build with the new GPU. We are repeating the MQ as part of our testing process, and enjoying revisiting OHDH again.

So far we have installed texture mods, and body replacers - both male and female (hey, we're equal opportunity here!). Next will be the two big overhauls - COBL and TIE. I'm being careful by making backups of each stage of the way, so if something goes sour, I can easily backtrack. I'm using MOM for this, as it's simple to set up and easy to manage.

Enough of the background. Today Julian and I are headed to Cheydinhal to look for the Shrine of Marooned Dragon. It's late afternoon, and we just passed two random Oblivion Gates. As they're set well back from the road, Julian didn't do anything with them. But it's a bit dismaying to see two of them already, just from bringing Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple!

Rider, that has to be great fun reliving Julian's adventures anew! I expect it has been long enough that it feels familiar but very fresh again.

It is great to hear that old habits do indeed die hard. Excellent news that Julian is once again traveling Cyrodiil.

Lothran has arrived in Skingrad to enjoy the cheese, wines and tomatoes and not to mention the scenery

I'm with you, mirocu. That area between Chorrol and Skingrad is beautiful forest, and always calls for a visit to the Sisters of Gottlesfont Priory.

Had a very nice session tonight

Lothran is wandering the area north-northwest of Skingrad. He made it to Echo Mine which he hasn´t explored before and so he did that. Then he wandered to a nearby fort and explored that one too. Both were quite small and didn´t take long, but then he noticed an Ayleid ruin that could potentially contain a statue. It didn´t, but it was a nice crawl anyway

After all that, plus some bandit/ogre battles, he visited and coronated the Jemane brothers, the residents at Brindle Home and the sisters at Gottlesfront Priory. And now he´s currently outside the Ayleid ruin close to Weatherleah and is about to enter it..

Julian is in the process of returning the Mages Staff to Ardaline in Bravil. She has the Wabbajack for Martin. Yup, she's at Chapter 14.7 in OHDH! We enjoy playing through this story (with minor variations, such as those introduced by new - to us - mods) every time we restart the game in the prison. I keep the alternative starts for other characters.

He needs to un-rust himself after his winter hibernation


In fact, tonight he decided to give Buffy´s stomach a break by getting rid of a few vampires at Bloodcrust Cavern. He went in and threw an AOE spell, then he ran out and thusly lured the vampires out in the sun

And now he´s resting at the Fighters Guild, listening to the gossip of his fellow guildmates

mirocu - I think Rider will tell you that OHDH is the name of Julian's fan fiction (Old Habits Die Hard). The link to Rider's wonderful fiction work is in her sig. Thanks to Lothie for taking out the trash some of those vampires and helping to keep Skingrad a bit more cramp-free for Buffy the Slayer. I hope he enjoys his time in Skingrad. He deserves to rest up there and enjoy the wine and cheese for at least a couple days.

'rocu, Acadian is right. You mean to tell me you haven't read OHDH yet?? I thought you were one of Julian's readers, but I guess I'm mistaken.

In any case, Julian is moving on. She is heading off to Cheydinhal to start her Grand Circuit of Cyrodiil, having closed the Bruma Gate with Burd, Bor and Soren.

Before doing this quest, I finally figured out Bor and Soren's Form IDs in the CS. Imagine my surprise to find both are Imperial (in OHDH Bor is Nord, and Soren is Redguard - just seemed that way because of their names). So I "fixed" them to better match the story, and made 'em both essential too. I really enjoyed the quest so much more knowing that they are "Bor" and "Soren" instead of the generic "Bruma Guard."

In Oblivion, all guards are Imperial, as the guard dialog is only recorded for that race. I wanted to create Nord guards for my Falkreath mod, but couldn't. You've probably struck them dumb (or you'll get the dreaded "I HAVE NO GREETING"! - that's only if they have cause to speak first, such as when they'd normally call you criminal scum.)

Unique characters like Byrd have dialog all their own, and don't inherit the generic guard stuff.

And the real-life Soren's I know are Danish.

Oh, I noticed that these two lost their voices when I played through the quest. But their dialog still showed up in the subtitles, so I'm cool with that glitch. It's not immersion-breaking for me.
