As a total novice to guild banks, I learned something today. If I put in a stack of 3 Nord motif books, somebody else puts in a single Nord motif book, and yet somebody else puts in a stack of, say, 4 Nord motif books, all of that takes up 3 bank slots - no autostacking! That looked odd to me so I looked for a 'stack' command for the bank and there is none. So I took all the various size stacks of motif books, food and crafting recipes that were the same but in different slots and put them in Buffy's inventory. Then we used the 'stack' command for our inventory. Then put the much fewer but larger stacks back in our guild bank. The happy result was that our guild bank went from 117/500 slots in use to 95/500 slots in use.
Lesson for me is, when adding stackable items and there are already items of the same kind in there, take out like all items, consolidate (stack) all in Buffy's inventory, then return all in one tidy stack to the guild bank.
That is a known flaw, there is a name for what you have to do (pulling them all out; stacking them; then putting them all back in to consolidate them) - something like "Twiddling the Guild Bank" or something. I don't think that is the name, but I've been asked to do it before for SneakyBo - just can't remember what they called it.
The only concern about that is: Make sure BEFORE pulling out any Materials or Fishing Supplies that you LOCK YOUR CRAFT BAG!
(Go to "Settings," "Gameplay," "Auto-add to Craft Bag" =
turn it off. Otherwise it will add all the Guild bank mats and fishing supplies in with your own in your Craft Bag).
If you forget this step and take all the materials by accident, you can always find out exactly what you withdrew by going to "Guilds," "History," "Bank," "Withdrawal;" find out exactly the amount of and each item you withdrew, (and pull just that amount from your Craft Bag to deposit back into the bank).
(Of course, we don't have to worry about this for our Guild Bank because it is being used for "Open Exchange")
Something else about Guild Banks that I learned through working for SneakyBo =
With most Guild banks you
can split a stack you are depositing, but
not split it as you are withdrawing it from the Guild Bank.
So if you want one of a recipe and there are 4 in the bank; pull all 4 out, then switch to "Deposit" and use "Split Stack" to put just 3 back.
I don't know why Guild banks don't let you split stack on a withdrawal; but it is another quirk more than one of them have.
They have add-ons that help you work with your Guild bank, but some of them tend to drag down your gameplay by overtaking your chat box with a glut of useless obsessive data/info that not even the Guildmaster needs to have streamed throughout the game. You are better off without them and just learning to work with/around the Guild bank flaws.
