Acadian: It took a long time, mods, and lot of work to get Hecate looking so good. Vanilla F4 is a tough game to make good faces in.


Lopov: I think Hecate probably ate what was bugging her later that night...

The cool thing about those nuke-armed mutants is that if you do shoot the nuke, it blows up prematurely. It is really spectacular. But if they reach you, they blow it up themselves, and take you with them.


King Coin: I love blowing up those suiciders. Besides the great explosion, they are guaranteed sources of nuclear material afterward.

Acadian: I wish Hecate was telekinetic. The can of water was literally just floating there in mid air. Got to love Bethesda games.

The funny thing is, that super mutant did fall right on top of her! Ewww!


Lopov: I often see things in mid-air in Beth games. I think what might happen is that there is supposed to be something like a table or crate beneath the floating item, which just does not get rendered by some glitch. But the item that sat atop it was still put in the game. Or it is just the physics engine being wonky - it is called Havok after all...

The Screening sign is pretty common in the Boston vaults. A lot of them are broken down into sections, to accept newly-arrived vault dwellers, screening being the first, and so on.

The Super Mutants are about the same. I have been having issues with them because of the mods I used to replace the vanilla pipe guns and rifles. Afterward I gave them AK-74s and Hunting Rifles. For some reason Super Mutants can only use certain weapons, and they won't use the ones I gave them. So even though they had these rifles in their inventories, they would always attack me with their bare fists. I finally changed their leveled lists to give them Laser Rifles and Miniguns, which I saw they use at high levels. Now they use them at all levels, and they are really dangerous!

Lopov: They really changed Power Armor in F4. It is a lot more powerful, and imposing. It feels like you are in a tank, which you really are. Power armor is the future tanks.

Hecate was out killing, so she had her serious face on when she was Lopov'ed. Maybe she will have a happier one in the future.

I created two new guns with the assets from Modern Firearms, Hecate was kind enough to model them.
The HK416 (a 5.56 assault rifle, as opposed to her 417, which is a 7.62 DMR/Battle Rifle)

An AR15, I used three different company's receivers for it.

This one has a Nevada Custom Guns receiver (I also have Knights Armament and Smith & Wesson M&P receivers)

Are behemoths as unique in the Commonwealth as they are in the Capital Wasteland or do they appear on leveled lists? At a first glance I thought that Hecate is wielding the hydrant in the first pic.

Acadian: As I recall, a bottlecap mine came in handy against fire-hydrant boy. So did a Deathclaw. It was kind of a team effort, and Hecate was the last sniper standing.

I imagine you are familiar with Nevada Custom Guns. The factory must be right around the corner, in the Tops Casino!


Lopov: The behemoths are all unique in Fallout 4. There are only a handful. One is in a car henge west of downtown Boston. That one Hecate killed in that pic is outside an old factory at the extreme west edge of the map. Another is in the swan pond in Boston Common - it is named Swan and wears the parts of swan-shaped boats as armor. There are a handful of others, but I forget where.

Everyone in Fallout is well-armed, or dead. I like the Walther. It has excellent textures, has some good sounds, and it comes in black!

Lopov: The Sentrybots have 3 legs, and the PA only 2. That is about all the difference!

The Ranger Mask comes with the eye lenses clear by default. There are some addons that you use for it to give it things like glowng red eyes. But I prefer being able to see Annie's own eyes instead.



Acadian: And Hecate (who took that shot) does not even have the Bloody Mess perk...

Acadian: I love the revolver, but do not have a lot of opportunity to use it. Annie only pulls it out for the really big baddies, since it does about 3 times more damage per shot than her AR15.

I was only 1 year old when All Along The Watchtower came out. But I heard it plenty of times growing up in the 70s.

In New Vegas you'd almost need a mod to make them less dangerous.

Lopov: Raider Bosses often wear Power Armor in Fallout 4. There is even a Raider version of the PA just for them.

Eventually you get so high level in all the games that Deathclaws just are not a challenge anymore. Their health and stats are static, so they don't get better as you do. Even in FONV. In fact, I think it happens sooner in New Vegas because it has armor piercing ammo that completely negates a Deathclaw's armor. Plus there are tons of super-weapons in that game. After a while, Deathclaw hunting becomes boring. Deadlier Deathclaws (the mod I am using), makes them level up with you, and has more varieties of them. I think the Chameleon Deathclaw actually does turn invisible too. Thankfully I have not run into one of those yet.

Annie was wearing a suit of T-60 Power armor (one of the better ones in F4, only the X01 model is better), when she ran into one of the new Deathclaws. It literally threw her around, and almost killed her. As it was it destroyed a couple pieces of her armor. Much more of a challenge!

Lopov: The green deathclaws are a sub-variety of Deathclaw. I think they are called Glowing Deathclaws, they are more irradiated, and more deadly than the standard kind.

I know it looks like a police hat, but that was really a postal hat Annie was wearing. If you look really close you can see the horseman logo of the Fallout world's postal service on the badge part.

I don't think I will try the MQ with any of my characters anymore. Unless maybe I try doing the Institute path with Loviatar at some point.





Acadian: I don't think Barlow is a relative. But I never did work up her background...

I definitely like the sleek dark armor with the bewbvertisements as opposed to the ‘armor that ate Hecate’. Wow, cool dog – does it belong to a Spriggan? Nice trailer! Sanford and his sons got nothing on you, Hecate!

Acadian: The Armor That Ate Hecate does have its advantages. It has the armor plate of a battleship, near invulnerability to radiation, and complete immunity from fall damage (it is a lot of fun to jump off of skyscrapers!). That said, Hecate prefers her Nascar armor for general exploring. The ATAH only comes out for special occasions.

I think that dog might be a Spriggan's. Or maybe a super-mutant. It is highly irradiated. But what's a few rads when someone's a good boy!

The underwater areas in F4 are pretty cool. There is a lot of stuff down there, including things you can loot (not to mention Chinese submarines). Sadly we still cannot fight underwater like we could in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Bethesda really outdid themselves with the intricacy of the world and its buildings. They have never made a setting as vertical as this (with numerous levels going up in the same place that you can explore).

I have learned more about Boston playing this game than in my entire life beforehand!


With my new install of the game, I decided to start afresh with a new(ish) character and try the main quest once more.
