Acadian: Buffy is lucky. Many of my characters are the in your face with a sword type - like Hervor and Persephone - so they inevitably get between the bad guys and Serana's ice cannon. A rather, uncomfortable place to be!

The DC pic was my favorite of that last bunch. It gives a good look at the modern DC ruins, especially the Mall, which is not a World War I-esque trench affair.


mALX: That is Dr Leskos' lab coat that Hecate is wearing. All of my characters hondle with him so he adds it to the reward for dealing with the Ant Queen's Guardians. It gives a +10 to Science, which is really handy in the early game.

Hecate is posed with the clipboard with that poses mod, that gives you the names of all the vanilla idle poses. That one is called Loose ScientistInspectTerminalA

Those are the same face textures as a the mod I sent you a while back. Her hair is from Hair Pack

The Behemoth took a couple of nukes to put down. I think three in all. I got that double explosion when a car exploded at the same time as the last nuke. I love how that turned out!

There is a barrier there so you cannot get up on the ledge in the Washington Monument pic. I had to use TCL to get there, pose her, go out of TFC to move her, then use TFC again to take the picture. That was not an easy one to take!

Wow, so that simulator thing takes you a virtual pre-holocaust virtual reality? How cool it must be in that environment to retreat to a touch of Leave it Beaver or Father Knows best. And a chance to see ‘Little Hecate’.

Tranquility Lane is one of the neater places in the game. Like you said, a little slice of Idealized America. It is a nice little preview of what we will see in the beginning of Fallout 4, which starts at the very beginning of the Great War.

Two things really stand out here:

In the first picture, Hecate is visibly pissed and I can see why - Hecate invents the lab geek white coat & heels look and now every woman and her sister seems to be wearing it!

The other thing that really stands out here is how her dad died - so very reminiscent of Mr Spock. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

The vet in me spotted the black-and-white canine in the background of the last pic right away. I want to see more of it! Husky? Alaskan Malamute? A re-skinned Skinned Hound?

Acadian: One reason Hecate decided to keep her recon armor on was that everyone else was wearing lab coats! At least this way she is unique...

Daddy James does go out the hero's death, preventing the purifier from falling into the Enclave's clutches. Or at least preventing them from being able to use it, which is just as good.


haute ecole rider: That dog is Dogmeat. He is the only animal companion you can gain in the game. My characters usually leave him at home in Megaton. But there is a bug in quest Hecate was doing that tends to automatically summon followers to your side.

I did even notice the two cinderblocks weighing down the skeleton's feet at first. It was only afterward when I was looking at the pic that I realized someone gave that poor fellow a long walk off a short pier.

Yes, on that lair on the highway - if Daddy James wasn't essential I'd have lost him a few times at that overpass between the missile launcher/sheer number of raiders/and the Mark IV turret, lol. I actually love that stop, but it is a lot easier to sneak up on them than to come trotting through the middle of them like Daddy James does, lol.



This is one of my absolute favorite dungeon crawls in the game from beginning at Little Lamplight all the way to the implosion at the end outside Raven Rock!

How did you get Falkes to meet you at the gate? That is such a better solution than having him beard you while the place is exploding and making you miss it all!


I was going to joke with you about Hecate bringing Eden flowers, lol.


Love the Deathclaw touch, but can't help wishing they had him in the earlier places before the Secruitrons are helping you, lol. Let him rampage through the science labs, lol.

mALX: That is exactly what Dad did with that Raider Lair. He walked right down the middle of it! I was just facepalming the entire time.

Fawkes was just standing there at the gate outside Raven Rock. I ran forward, and the next thing I knew he was forcing me into conversation. I got out of it quick enough to get some pictures though.

I was thinking that same thing about the Deathclaw in Raven Rock. It would have been a lot of fun to turn him loose in the labs, with all those Enclave scientists and soldiers in there.


Acadian: That is one of the few places in the game where you can loose a Deathclaw without having it attack you. Or at least it has never done that in any of my playthroughs. So I just love setting it off on a rampage. They are one of the coolest critters I have ever seen in a game.

I think the Solstheim version is the post-explosion Raven Rock from FO3...

Oh man, I know it is impossible to catch the full effect - car pieces flying through the air, Helicopters crashing around you, the explosions shaking the ground beneath you - that scene is spectacular !!!!! But you came as close as possible here, this is the closest I've seen any snapshot come to the excitement of that moment !!!

Seeing that statue as I died the first time I played (before Broken Steel came out and brings you back to life) - that scene was overwhelming to watch as you slid down and saw that statue fading away, then realized you had died - HUGE scene !!!! So glad you captured that scene! It was an emotional moment, at least for me it was.

Acadian: In the Broken Steel expansion, the members of the Brotherhood start referring to you as Sir Knight. Paladin, Knight, etc... are their actual ranks.

I don't think it would be too unusual to see Liberty Prime in a Dwemer ruin! As long as it was a big one at least! Liberty Prime is the coolest thing in the game, and one of the all time great robots in gaming, fiction, film, you name it.


mALX: You recognized the birthday hat! I just had to keep that. And of course the teddy bears are a given.

I love following Liberty Prime in that big end battle. His lines are so awesome! And I did turn back to shoot down that Vertibird at the end! I am surprised you remembered that. I had forgotten all about it until I saw it go flying past Liberty Prime.

The ending is an emotional scene for me as well, when they go through your achievements, and the people whose lives you have touched. What really strikes me is how your literally follow in your father's footsteps, and die in the very same spot that he did.

What a neat story you show and tell here of Hecate and Liberty Prime on the march. Uh-oh. . . hell hath no fury like a girl who just lost her giant robot pal.

I didn't remember it, I saw it in this picture - in the background you can see the blades of a chopper rising off the ground and hovering at the end of the road where it meets the bridge:

This was such a great shot, because while you are seeing the victory of the burning helicopter on the ground; you are also seeing the danger lurking in the background! This screenshot just exemplifies the excitement of that battle to the Jefferson Memorial because of those two chopper blades in it! Excellent job for capturing the moment here!!!


The two shots that stand out the most to me the most in this set were Hecate running side by side with Liberty Prime and that spectacular Ground Zero shot! You nailed it entirely with this one shot, what a moment that was! - THIS is how crossing that bridge behind Liberty Prime looked to me the first time I played it; with the massive explosions from the helicopters and cars all around and parts flying everywhere (of course on a smaller scale because it wasn't enough to kill Liberty Prime in that battle).

That shot with Hecate and Liberty Prime - she somehow looks the same size as him in that screen, but it has to be a trick of the distance from the camera causing that because a few shots later you see the troops looking like ants around Liberty Prime's feet.

The epic battles in Fallout 3 were what set it apart from any other game I've ever played in my life; and you really captured the essence of that in this one screen so well!!!

All these shots are great, but that shot goes down as one of my all time favorites.

One thing I missed seeing ... is Hecate not going to climb over the hill behind Liberty Prime's severed head and find that unique gun off the map?

Now THAT I remember! I must have missed my footing a thousand times to get that gun and had to save and reload the whole way up to keep progressing, lol.



** EDIT - I missed a couple things = Hecate looks so sad when Liberty Prime is killed; and I felt that way when it happened too, so ... very apropos screen, I loved that!

The other was the Dunwich building shot - Urk! That place gives me the creeps! You gave a good impression of it in that shot, it is horrible!

Acadian: I felt the loss of Liberty Prime more keenly than Daddy James! Hecate has been going out of her way since to locate Enclave outposts and kill them all.


mALX: I didn't know there was a cheat to get that Liberty Prime gun until you just said it! I had no idea it even existed.

I love all the parts with Liberty Prime. He is one of the coolest robots ever.

If there is a unique gun in the game, I've gotten it even if it killed me trying - but I haven't played Broken Steel yet on the PC, that was just on the 360. I imagine on the PC you just have to toggle clipping to reach it - so much easier!

If I remember right, it is some kind of Tesla cannon that fires off regular missiles instead of the unique ammo for the Tesla cannon - but I'd have to check that out to be sure.

It is on top of the hill behind the head, a ways back off the map and laying on a table.


On the Old Olney shot - if you climb up to the top ledge of broken floors and work your way around you will find an easter egg with the teddy bear and gnome! I think it is in the SW corner as you enter the building, but ... not sure which direction the building is facing, so could be wrong.

The Tesla coil! The first time I saw it I was scared of getting eviscerated by it, lol.

Did you give Tanya that armor? How do you do that? She is so pretty, I'd love to be able to tap/nab that face in the char gen!

Can I ask you - on that mod, do you write down the codes for the poses you like best and keep the list nearby so you can use them in game? I have downloaded the mod with the playbook, but couldn't find any instructions on how to use the poses other than using console commands.


Great update, I had forgotten a lot about Broken Steel till seeing your screens! I need to go ahead and finish a game again, have not finished one out since I've been on the PC game; keep restarting new games.

I keep a list of all the poses I use most on a piece of paper I keep by the computer. Otherwise I would never remember them. All you have to do to use them is open the console and first use TFC to go into free camera mode. They won't work otherwise. Then type in the following:

player.playidle {posename}

It will automatically play the pose.

Using the TM command is good beforehand too, to remove the hud.

Most of the poses will play for a while, then your character will go back to normal. There are a few that never reset though, and you have to reload to get back to 'normal'. So always quicksave before you try a pose.

Doh! I forgot the picture of the gnome and teddy bear playing cards. I did find that spot!

Okay, that is what I kept wondering - whether there was a list you could access in game or if you had to keep a log. I had written down a list of several I wanted to try, and my husband seems to have cleaned my desk and tossed it ; I'll have to go through the playbooks again.

I have not played through Broken Steel in a very long time either, since I usually do not bother with the main quest. It was really fun to do all the BS stuff again.

Oh, it is those tunnels from the Capital bldg! I had forgotten all about them till my last Fallout game when I stumbled on them and thought I'd found something I'd been missing - then recognized it and remembered it from doing Broken Steel a long time ago.

I did recognize it when I saw the deathclaw shot though, remember finding a ton of flamer fuel there and a big hanger or air craft carrier (or something of that sort) that you have to clear - and actually had some alien power cells in it - and one dorm room full of Enclave that I tried to kill in one shot using the Experimental MIRV - ended up blowing myself up 15 times before giving up, lol.

mALX: Those tunnels are the Presidential Metro. One links up to the capitol, but the door requires a key, and I could never find one. You can get to them from the utility tunnel underneath the White House. The one with the guy who tried to jump his motorcycle and got stuck in the ceiling.

Hecate has a Deathclaw Control Scrambler that she got from the Brotherhood. You get it in the Broken Steel questline, I think it was after returning from Rockland, and before heading out to Old Olney. You have to ask one of the scribes for it. It makes all the Deathclaws controlled by the Enclave (the ones with the funky headband thing) friendly to you, and follow you around. The wild Deathclaws are still hostile. That is why Hecate is using the Stealth Boy and sneaking in that one pic with the Deathclaw without the control headset.

Hecate didn't get the Deathclaw to follow her inside the crawler. She found another one inside. I just love turning Deathclaws against the Enclave.

I am not sure why they changed the name of Andrews. Raven Rock is a real place, and they didn't change the name for it. Though they did change a few other places names. The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum was changed to the Museum of Technology for example.

The last playthrough of FO3 I did earlier this year I found that door in the Capital building and was curious, so I think I used the "Unlock" on it to see what was in there. Once I got inside I recognized the tunnels from my Broken Steel playthrough; but didn't remember that door for some reason. Maybe I took the tunnel in my playthrough too, lol.

I must have missed that deathclaw scrambler the Brotherhood gives you, I don't think I ever had that. But as for turning loose any deathclaws I find and going invisible while they wreak havoc - YES! I LOVE doing that !!!

Lopov did this quest too, and until he explained it to me I didn't remember it - looks like I need to do a Vegas play through, I haven't played it on the PC yet, and bought the PC game last Thanksgiving!

I wanted to get a pic of Persephone fixing the radio, and that banging with the fist animation just struck me as so appropriate.


mALX: Sunny is wearing her default leather. Persephone's sword is European Greatsword, the same weapon she used in the Capital Wasteland.

I love Easy Pete, and his laconic answers. Like when you ask him about the Powder Gangers, and he just says: "Trouble."

This shot of her at the gambling machine is my favorite, I love the pose - and having someone in the next seat too makes the shot just that much better! Is it like the thrones in Skyrim where anyone sittin in them takes on the pose, or did you use the pose command thing?

It must be the dog days in Vegas right now in Vegas, all the Powder Ganger men have their shirts off!

Holy Cow, she got a Deathclaw with just a sword !!!! And so early in the game, how did she do it? AWESOME !!!! On a fight like that, feel free to make a vid of it, that is Awesome !!!!!

mALX: That is a throwing spear in that first pic. It came with one of the mini-dlcs, I think it is the Tribal Pack. I have the GOTY edition, which comes with all the addons.

That pose sitting at the slots is from the vanilla game. It does it automatically whenever you sit there.

That was the Blind Deathclaw in Primm Pass. I nearly used up all my stimpacks in that fight! Plus Persephone used up about 5 frag mines, and the same number of powder charges, and all those did was get the Deathclaw's dander up!

Ooh, the Mojave outpost! I love that place! I think it more than anything caused me to side with the NCR, lol.


Some of the other females on base had some unkind words to say about Ranger Starbuck behind her back, but I liked her real well!

Oh yeah, walking right in might not be the way to go, lol. I always sneaked around and entered under cover to assess the situation before alerting the Legion to my presence, lol.


I wonder if Persephone has seen this scene play out before in her past?


In other parts of the country where you come across these crucifixions you have been able to rescue them and release them, so I was really surprised not to have that option here; and felt helpless not able to free them but not able or willing to kill them either. It left me with a desire to revenge the men's suffering when I met Caesar later, so I was really surprised when I found myself liking him and his people at that camp - found it hard to kill them all, but had to do it in the end - which is one of the things that was so great about New Vegas, the depth of feelings it can evoke and in the choices you have to make. Even their villains are gray, and can be likeable even when you know you have to end their reign.

Acadian: I have a new couple of new night sky mods, and could not resist showing them off in those pics.

Those are two statues shaking hands. They represent the NCR Rangers (New California Republic) unification with the Nevada Rangers. I love how they look, so was looking for an excuse to get some pictures. The white cowgirl Persephone is talking to is Lieutenant Kara Thrace "Starbuck" Ranger Ghost. She's a Ranger sniper, and has a quest mission for you.

Nipton is most people's first meeting with The Imperial Caesar's Legion. My characters tend to go all Teutoburg moments later...


mALX: I have modded the weather and lighting to get rid of the orange tint (just like I did with FO3 to get rid of the green tint), so it is nice to see actual blue skies in New Vegas.

I didn't realize people trash talked Ranger Starbuck. I guess I never got those dialogue prompts. I looked her up on the wikia, and found the quotes though.

I cannot say I ever felt any sort of warm or kind feelings for Caesar or his Legionaries with any characters. But then, I can be a pretty cold-hearted bitch too. Persephone has five feet of steel to give to every Legionary she comes across.

I found an Incendiary Grenade somewhere earlier in the game. I forget where. I was saving it for something special. Vulpes Inculata turned out to be quite special indeed! It killed half of the Legionaries, and left the others really weak. After tossing it, Persephone ran behind a building to get away from the gunfire, and just waited for them to come around the corner. She killed all of them with only one or two chops from her Zweihander. It was the easiest time I have ever hand in Nipton. She never broke a sweat, and barely took any damage at all.

I thought the sword came out looking really good in that sneaking pic too. That is one of my favoritest of all my Persephojave pics.

That invisibility is courtesy of a stealth boy, which make you invisible, but only temporarily.

Acadian: Persephone only drinks the souls of her victims.

No I'm joking! Being undead, she cannot eat or drink anything. Or sleep. I am finding this makes New Vegas very difficult, as stimpacks (the only other way to heal) are much more rare than they are in Fallout 3.

I think you have been stuck in TESland too much. You need to come out and play in the Wasteland for a bit. I promise it is blond sniper friendly.


mALX: Persephone does slug it out with Cazadors with nothing but her sword. She has a big advantage though. Being undead, she is immune to poison. Not that usually hit her much. I am getting pretty good using the reach of her sword to kill most critters before they can get close enough to attack themselves.

That is Persephone with the sword in that pic with the Securitron. Well, the robot did get it in the end. Or in the point...

Persephone is still in good standing with the NCR. She routed the power from Helios One evenly to the entire region, which does not get them mad, though you don't get NCR fame either.

mALX: Well, it's a pretty good sword. The original version was way overpowered. I reduced the stats so it is the same as The Blade of the East, but without the extra poison damage over 10 seconds the BOE does. By now Persephone also has the good melee perks, like Purifier, Piercing Strike, Unstoppable Force, the knockdown one, Stonewall, etc... So she is a beast in melee, especially against abominations.

Great shots! Hand-to-Hand with Bad Suit, eh? Persephone does a great job. I'm surprised she didn't disarm him like she does with most of her foes.

That fight was something else! I was always afraid that if you didn't kill Benny quick that his henchmen would join in the melee; but I've always wanted to give him a good pummeling instead of the poetic bullet to the brain.

I always loved that first step into NV, and think it was brilliant of them to make it hard to enter so you really felt the importance of getting past those barriers. Seeing Persephone walking past "The Kings" brought back that feeling, as did seeing the thug by the dumpsters remind me of my first Vegas mugging, lol.
