You know, I always took for granted that Bethesda and the Black Isles/Obsidian researched the effects of a nuclear war in making their games; that the wasteland would be an accurate prediction of what would take place.
So what you wrote here surprised me, so I looked it up. That is amazing! I mean, this was supposedly a nuclear war, which would not have had the long lasting radiation to begin with (verses a leak from a nuclear power plant like at Chernobyl; where the radiation remains in full strength for thousands of years)
So seeing the current pictures of Chernobyl was actually shocking to me! And it brings up imaginations of mutated genes in biology similar to that vault in New Vegas, lol.
Overly large plants; overly large worms or centipedes - mutantly overlarge - like horror movie stuff, lol.
Anyway; I live just a couple miles from Oak Ridge; and all of their secret nuclear farms are fenced off and you can't trespass on them. But they abut a lake and there are no fences; no signs along the shore saying "Keep Out," or at least I didn't see them.
So I was out fishing in a small Jon boat; saw some wild horses and had to stop. Pulled the boat up on the shore and scouted around, hiked over the whole area several times (on several different trips) to see the horses and other animals.
Then one day a uniformed man in a truck driving off road "caught me" there and informed me that it was government property and I was trespassing. I told him I didn't know, just stopped to see the wild horses. He shuffled me out of there very quickly.
But I did catch some VERY strange looking fish in the streams around that area; nothing that is known to be in ETN, that's sure.
If it looks weird, I don't eat it; so I threw them back. But my husband was pretty sure they looked mutated, and we both wondered if there had been leaks or testing in that area.
Anyway, it surprises me that as accurate as Bethesda is with the layouts of the land, that they wouldn't have realized that there would be vegatation 200 years after a nuclear war = especially since the majority of the radiation in a nuclear blast is used up in the blast, and the residual radiation dissipates rapidly after that, in just years it is safe to live in ground zero as opposed to a nuclear plant leak where thousands of years have to pass before the area is safe for habitation.
Very interesting, I def learned something today from you on this!

Urk, what is that food in the guy's plate? Bleah!
BWAAHAA! And an expensive bed at that price!

"Different from the vault" is my favorite shot, what a great pose and shot both! Looks like Hecate is 100 caps poorer today, lol.
Ah, good old Mr. Burke!
Is she really fixing the pipes? I've done that every time, but never seen my character actually doing it! (that I remember) Oh, or is that a pose?
Ah, the old Super-Duper Mart! Poor robot, but he sure does bring out the enemies so you can snipe them while they are looking at him, lol.
Great shots; and really glad you told me about that vegetation; I was just taking Bethesda's (and Black Isles's/Obsidian's) vision as an accurate depiction!
