Yeah, it's a very cool looking rifle and I wouldn't mind getting it. It has been ok'd for hunting purposes here although some local police stations have made a practice of denying licenses on account they think it looks too military. Now, what they think is irrelevant as the rifle has been greenlit by the agency who decides these things, but courts do have a tendency to go along with what the police say, even if it's completely wrong and has no support by the law.

It would be the closest I could come to an AR-15 so yeah, wouldn't mind getting it at all if I wasn't maxed out.

I have four registered guns which is all I can have without the "specific reason" I mentioned earlier. As a hunter I can have up to six guns but the last two are a pain to acquire because of this wacko.gif

Ugggh, that sucks! So arbitrary. If safety is the concern, why does it matter if a person owns one gun or 10?
mirocu
Indeed.

As usual there is no logic involved here, only people in suits who haven't even seen a real gun much less know that they are not the issue. And as someone who is already been approved for any gun at all, why is there a limit to how many I can have other than the contents of my wallet?

Who knows, maybe I could get this rifle and use a species the .223 is designed for as that specific reason. But as it is it'll have to wait. I have another gun safe to purchase now, plus that S&W M&P40 CO2 replica.. tongue.gif

Well are you going to try to get it? Who knows, they might go ahead and let you.
mirocu
They might, but it's not on the table anytime soon anyway. Said contents in said wallet provides the first obstacle.. wink.gif

Plus, I really want that M&P 40 replica and I also need to test shoot the pepperbox I got earlier this year. And now that I have a job I probably can't escape from, my time to play around has been severely limited.

But yeah, if I were to get a nice lottery ticket I would probably go for the Benelli smile.gif

Lol, with a lottery ticket you could move over here and buy whatever gun you felt like!

I still haven't fired my AK...I NEED to fire it!!! You simply can't own an AK-47 without taking it to a gun range and shooting it. I wish I lived further out in the country with barely any neighbors around and had a yard like Hickok has or my Brother in law.
panic.gif
mirocu
You could just throw out a few tin cans from your balcony and have at them. I'm sure nobody would complain. Well, at least I doubt they would show up in person to complain... biggrin.gif

Edit: I have looked up more on the Benelli MR1 Argo and it turns out it uses a standard AR-15 mag, and I know where I can buy a 42-rounder! Now I really want to get this gun!!! panic.gif panic.gif

Problem 1: I'm maxed out at four guns

Problem 2: Even though this gun has been greenlit by the proper authority, every application on it will be turned down by the police who are the authority who issues licenses. At least for now, the debate is still going on. If the first authority also issued licenses I could have this gun within two months.

I don't have a balcony I live in a single-wide tongue.gif. I would get a steel plate to shoot at but of course my idol Hickok has made a video of what happens when high powered rounds (like AR-15 and AK-47) hit it: https://youtu.be/dx_SfG34Jpo .

I swear this guy has everything regarding firearms on his channel covered biggrin.gif.

I know he's done video on guns I've own like the Kriss Vector and S&W 500 with the latter being a regretful buy, sure it's the king of handguns but it shot and handled like a .44 Magnum Ruger Super Blackhawk and honestly I couldn't tell the difference and didn't know why people on YouTube where wining about its recoil, even my expensive rounds didn't hurt that bad, yes it was jarring and hurt after a couple of rounds but my least expensive rounds shot just like a .44 Mag.

In related news:
I've learned how to do a tactical reload on an AK biggrin.gif.

I took my AK to the range and scored scored several center shots with it at 20 yards. I love the new RAS-47 (Red Army Standard) I think it fired better then the WASR did.

Thanks although I had to use range ammo which I call lil' smokies cause boy do they cause huge plumes of smoke and they're corrosive and made my AK REALLY filthy. Thank the Divines the AK is so simple to strip and clean happy.gif.

Is the barrel chrome lined? Khajiit read that some of those old Soviet designs included chrome lined barrels for greater resistance against corrosive ammunition.

Not sure if it is chrome lined seeing it being an American made model, still the fun with these types of rifles is striping them and cleaning them happy.gif.

Just ordered a new gun safe but the model I want is sold out and they won't get new ones until two weeks from now. If I'm lucky, and that's a big if, I may get it on Friday the same week which is a day off smile.gif

Beretta Hunter .22 Cal.
Charles Daily 12 gage.
Savage 17 HMR.
RAS-47.
Taurus .357 Magnum.

*deleted* oops didn't read carefully enough (Khajiit blames beer!).

This one thinks you two should definitely invest in a gun safe.
Dark Reaper
My Dad and I decided to sell the Charles Daily 12 gage we had and will probably be looking for a single shot or a double barrel shotgun. The CD we had wasn't a good shotgun, it didn't feed the shells well. If we get a double barreled one there's one at my gun store that would make a great "Boomstick" biggrin.gif .

Never wrong with a doublebarrel!

Is the CD an auto?

No it was a pump but for some reason the feeder wouldn't grab the shell to eject it and load the next round. The next shotgun would probably be the single shot 12 gage we saw at Walmarts for $99.99 .
Dark Reaper
New handgun time, this was a gift from my dad, he got it for $31.00 dollars...Noice.

.357 Magnum 1 .

.357 Magnum 2 .

Also note, my first handgun I bought and own was a Taurus M66 .357 Mag, same as this only that one was black and had a longer barrel but both shot 7 rounds.
mirocu
Noice indeed biggrin.gif

If you're getting a doublebarrel, are you gonna get a side-by-side or an over/under?

I'm not sure which but there's a single shot that's only $99.99 at Walmart that I might get.
mirocu
That sounds cheap. What caliber is it?

12 gage.
mirocu
Oh, when you said it was a single shot I thought it was a .45-70 Elite Stalker or something laugh.gif

Although I reckon such a gun would cost more than $99.99.... biggrin.gif

Finally have my 12 gauge pump-action shotgun at the cottage and so I could at long last try some slugs. Never fired any before and man, they kick! Almost .30-06 level! Actually, wouldn't be surprised if they kick a little bit more tongue.gif

It was fun, though. Put some big holes in the old oil drum and absolutely obliterated the bricks smile.gif

Glad to hear it. I've fired my "new" .357 magnum and boy is having a bulkier gun make all the difference in recoil. I'll never buy another snub-nose .357 again; that kicked to hard to be an effective defensive weapon.

Yeah, that's something novice shooters often overlook. They want a light gun as a defensive weapon but don't consider the fact that lighter guns produce heavier recoil. I think the reason I experienced my pump-action having a recoil slightly below the .30-06 is because it has a 28" barrel. Someone just said a 1oz slug actually is worse than a .30-06.
Dark Reaper
Reminds me of people like Hickok saying how the S&W 500 was this powerful beast of a gun with unmanageable recoil, then I go buy one to find out my Rugar Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum had worse recoil then the 500 did, well as long as I used the inexpensive rounds. Now the more expensive Hornady rounds let you know you where shooting a 500 but those WHERE hunting rounds meant for wild boars and other tougher large game. I might try to buy a 500 again once my car is paid off, either that or buy another .44 Magnum both are pretty much on equal terms as far as I'm concern.
SubRosa
My M4 gives me a bruise on the shoulder after about a hundred shots or so.
Kane
Didn't get to shoot any clays at camp this year. There wasn't a lot of us there, so we just fished and did other things around the camp.
Dark Reaper
I was talking to my Dad one day thinking if I was to buy another powerful magnum to either re-buy the 500 or just get another .44 Mag and when you really think about the .44 Magnum is probably the better of the two cause like I've said, the 500 was only noticeable when I used the hunting rounds and the plain ones felt close to what a .44 would feel. So in conclusion IF I did decide to buy another powerful magnum I'll probably just buy the .44.
Dark Reaper
My dad and I spent the other day at the gun range and we fired his .22 Beretta and had a fun time...and no the gun ranges isn't where I bought the Hi-Point .45, I got that at Academy tongue.gif.

Think I would prefer not having the foregrip though.

I like using the foregrip for recoil reduction and control for better shots, but that's just me happy.gif.
mirocu
Maybe it is better, can't really say as I haven't tried it. I just think I prefer without it as that is what I'm so used to.

-------------------------------------

Just printed out instructions for inspection of gun safes here. The police can inspect weapon storage but they CANNOT inspect any guns or other storage one might have. That is viewed as illegal house search and is punishable by law.

I printed out one copy for me and one for my dad. We've never had an inspection before but knowing what to do is not a bad idea.
SubRosa
I thought about a foregrip too, but decided against it. What I have read is that it can be detrimental to your shooting form, because it is moving your hand farther away from the barrel. They came into use on modern AR-15s because people often have equipment mounted on their barrel, which prevent you putting your hand on the barrel. Or they have a light built into the foregrip. Or they have a backup sight mounted at a 45 degree angle. The foregrip helps with twisting the gun to use the second sight.

There seem to be a lot of people for and against it. A lot of it seems to boil down to what you personally find the most comfortable. So if the grip feels right for you, it is the thing to do.
