Believe it or not, this is actually an approved hunting rifle here now. I can even get a 30 round mag for it (training only) and suppressor. Like I said it IS approved by the proper agency and recognized by the police as a hunting rifle, but I still doubt it would be easy to get one. Especially for me as I already have filled my four gun quota. I can get more theoratically but then I have to convince authorities that the new gun fills a need my other guns can't. And I don't think home defense is such an argument; this is not Texas..

Now, this particular gun in 223/5.56 actually would fill a void for me as I don't have a class 2 hunting rifle. But yeah, I still very much doubt it would be easy for me to get one. But it is interesting that this AR style rifle is even approved for hunting in the first place as that would have been unthinkable not five years ago.
