I know something that's fun to strip down.

As an owner of a S&W M&P Shield 9, can confirm an M&P is fun to break down and reassemble.
Dark Reaper
My Dad had an M&P40 Shield and he loved it.
mirocu
I might finally get that CO2 version just so I can strip it down and reassemble it tongue.gif
Dark Reaper
Two more days till Gunday!!! I've decided to pass on the Kel-Tec 9MM BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT I've decided to get either an AR-15 OR an AK-47 and I'm leaning towards the AK happy.gif.
mirocu
Can't go wrong with an AK! Bought an airsoft version a couple years back with real wood and metal. Feels solid as the real thing almost biggrin.gif
Dark Reaper
And now we wait...!

The AK is out, the Hybrid AR-15 is a maybe and the Kel-Tec 2000 is back on the table. I'm getting a couple of MOTU figures and these are REALLY important to me so I'll have to figure which rifle to get that won't break the bank, I still have bills to pay.
Dark Reaper
Bad news. Won't be getting new gun this month, I had some other things to buy so new rifle will be delayed until the 1st of March. Sorry biggrin.gif .

Aw, well that’s ok! Maybe try to get that AK!

If they still have it the 1st of March I'll get it biggrin.gif . This month there was just some MOTU (Masters of the Universe) Classic figures I was wanting to get REALLY badly but they'll be worth it once they come in cause one of the figures I might have had a hand in making it, not that anything can come from it other then some gloating rights happy.gif.

Inspired by Reaper's gun purchases, I've got my eyes on a Remington spurr trigger pocket revolver. Looks very nice with very little scuffs and marks. Parts of it kinda looks brand new because of the nice finish!

Think I'm gonna mail the guy and ask if I can put down a part payment until next paycheck (layaway?). I can pay full price for it now but that means dipping a bit into my savings which I'm not too keen on. Might have to though if he wants full payment immediately.

And I do want this gun...
mirocu
Oh, man! My Remington is acting up on me! It locks up at halfcock when the cylinder should be rotating freely! It indexes fine though when fully cocked, but still.

Just emailed the guy I bought it from and hopefully I can open it up and replace the broken part myself. This happened when I had been shooting with it a couple years back too. A two-pronged spring broke and when I got the gun back from cleaning with the broken part in a bag, it all worked fine. Don't know why it happened now though seeing as it's just been laying there in the safe.
Dark Reaper
Sorry to hear that, hopefully you'll get it fixed.
mirocu
Thanks. It's just a minor thing but still annoying. If I can't fix it myself I have to send it to him and I hate sending expensive things through mail service these days.

Are there no local gunsmiths near you?
mirocu
No. Especially not one who deals with antiques kvleft.gif

Geh, Khajiit didn’t think about it being an antique. This one bets it is hard to find someone to work on it.

Not really, I just have the guy I bought it from doing it. Other than him though, yeah. Not many around who does that.

Also; I want another Remington when I can afford. Would be so cool to prance around my apartment with TWO .44's on my hips biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

UPDATE: My Remington now seems to work fine again. I had to make an adjustment to the two-pronged spring I mentioned. Seems sensitive but now I now what to do biggrin.gif
Dark Reaper
Say no to strange men in vans.
Dark Reaper
Now this is a funky looking gun. It sounds good on paper but the whole thing is made out of plastic which means the non metal parts could easily break, melt from the heat and the way this thing operates I wouldn't want to be issued this thing. Plus firing it in either burst or auto I bet this thing had a horrible recoil and not the ouch my arm type of recoil but the broadside of the barn gets to live for another day type of recoil. In all the G11 looks futuristic but I doubt this thing is reliable.
Dark Reaper
My new JTS-AK 12 Gauge semi-auto shotgun.

Although I'm pretty meh about polymer, that gun is very nice. I like how it resembles an AK-47 smile.gif

Only the stock, grip and handle are polymer the rest is metal...really heavy metal and not the music kind either. Academy also had one that looked like an AR-15 but that one was a bit to expensive but was lighter. Honestly I couldn't be anymore happy with it, it's a shotgun so no politician or anti-gun naysayer can say "that's an assault rifle!!!" but it also looks like an AK-47 so my rifle lovings is fulfilled...it's win-win biggrin.gif.

Seriously, the whole time I was slipping my head left and right like a boxer, trying to stay out of the line of fire.

Dad wanted to get himself a new Boomstick.

Now that is one fine boomstick! Truly a nice one! What is it, Browning? Would love a semiauto shotgun too but I have bad experiences with them. One guy at the range always had reloading issues and that put me off them kvleft.gif

Cruiser ready home defense shotgun

This is how I store my pump action; ready but not always dangerous.
Dark Reaper
Thanks. It's a Hatfield 12 gauge semi auto Boomstick. Me and dad can't wait to go shoot it happy.gif. Only con with it is it can only load 3 rounds. Two in the magazine and one in the chamber. His is more for hunting and skeet shooting mine's more of trespass on my property, you'd best get the fudge off it!

Same as with my pump. It can do 3 inch magnum rounds btw, I bet the Hatfield can too?

Ooh this one bets that’d be a nice bird gun! When Khajiit used to do that sort of thing he used a semi auto Browning 12gauge.

I'd love having that thing. Or the MP5 as I keep saying tongue.gif

I had a MP5 Clone once but it was used and shot like crap as it kept jamming.

Was it full-auto?

No it had a switch to either shoot single fire/w manual reload or semi-auto. I think in my state you can own a fully automatic weapon but you need a class 3 gun license, federal stamp and be on a 2 year waiting period...oh and once you buy a fully automatic weapon you can't sell it.

I could live with this. As it is, I have to wait several months just to get a .22LR levergun! tongue.gif

This is why I love Oklahoma's gun laws, no waiting for either a standard pistol or rifle, go in do paperwork, buy the gun and leave all in the same day.

I went to the range this morning and tried something new. I rented an FN Scar-L (the version that fires 5.56). It is a full auto gun. So this was my first time trying full auto, as well as firing a Scar.

In the end I really did not like the Scar much. The muzzle flash was much brighter than my Sig Sauer M4. It was a really bright white light that blinded me for the instant that I fired. In contrast I never really noticed any flash with my Sig Sauer. At least it is nothing that bright and overpowering. Likewise, the Scar was a lot louder than my Sig, and the recoil was a lot worse. One thing I really did like about the Scar was the iron sights. I had a big circular front post, that was really easy to aim with.

I fired a magazine just semi so I could get a feel for the Scar. It is also different in that the charging handle is on the left side of the barrel, rather than behind it like on an AR-15. Because of that you cannot hold the barrel with your left hand. The charging handle will literally fly into your hand when you fire. So you have to use the vertical foregrip with it.

That was my first time using a foregrip as well. It was ok. But I think I prefer it with my hand on the barrel. I had to keep reminding myself to take my hand off the barrel and put it on the foregrip, because I am so used to always having it there. OTOH, one plus to the foregrip was that with my left arm lower down because of it, I was able to brace my elbow against my chest when I fired. I cannot do that with my hand higher up on the barrel.

Firing full auto was a lot different than semi as well. Much more recoil Here is what I shot, about 20 rounds semi and maybe 70 full auto. I never fired more than a 3-4 round burst. It shot exactly like I read it would. Your first round goes dead center, the next goes high and left, in the shoulder area, and the rest are off in the air up and left. After a while I got better at controlling it, but the first round was still the only accurate one. The rest were going off into what would have been the arm. That one shot all alone by itself up in the neck was literally my last bullet. I did that one on semi on purpose.

All in all I prefer semi-auto. I like every bullet going exactly where I want it to. Full Auto is just too wild, with too many bullets going off where I don't want. In the end it really made me appreciate my Sig Sauer a lot more. I vastly prefer it over the Scar.

My shoulder is now sore too. Usually I can fire about 100 rounds of 5.56 on semi and only have a little red dot of a bruise on my shoulder afterward. About half that of .308 semi will leave me aching, and my shoulder one big red bruise. The 5.56 on full auto left me with a big bruise, but not quite as big as the .308 would have done.
mirocu
Semi-auto here too. Full-auto always feels like it would be more fun but really it isn't. Well, maybe in short bursts but in the long run I always want to go back to semi. And foregrip, ehhhh... Like you SubRosa I think I'll keep my hand on the barrel, feels much more natural than using that.

Glad you had fun at the range!

TheCheshireKhajiit
Khajiit feels the same about full auto and the foregrip. Full auto would only be useful if you were mobbed by many enemies at once and you needed to put out a lot of lead in a very small amount of time. Foregrips just seem weird to this one.

For me Full Auto is a waste of ammo unless you're doing suppressive fire or crowd control. I either like burst or semi-auto.
