Like Hickok45 said; it´s not how big your property is but how it´s situated; the lay of the land if you will.
I have sort of the same problem having my neighbours too close. But in my case it´s more of a sound issue rather than safety.

I don't think it's the noise of my guns that the neighbors complain about (except for the time I had the WASR-10 aka the AK-47, I don't think my my neighbors liked that gun it was SO loud heh heh heh

). I'm just worried about scaring their kids and stuff. I would feel better if I had either .357 magnum shot shells but IDK if they come in that caliber, either that or buy a .45LC/410 barrel for my Derringer and shoot the 410s I think that would be a better choice.

Well there is a .45ACP barrel I could get but the .45LC/410 barrel is the only one that shoots the 410 shotgun shells and if I had that I'd feel better about shooting around my house.

Every time I hear about a Derringer I think about that Simpson episode where they did Huckleberry Finn and everyone was shooting at each other on that boat without anyone getting hurt because the bullets just bounced off

https://youtu.be/IFhqE9vZQ04Edit:
I think one thing I might do in January is buy a 4.25 inch barrel .357 Magnum for my gun. The one I have is a 3 inch barrel and though it still works and extra inch or so should improve the accuracy. Hickok 45 uses the 45 Colt and it seems to get the job done.
Speaking of Derringers it seems the Texas Bond Derringers are the best of the bunch in both for shooting and safety. I saw a YT video of a guy showing off the Cobra brand and I wouldn't buy one if I have to.

I recently sent in my blackpowder revolver for a cleanup. Good thing too, it was very dirty and needed a cylinder spring replacement. Didn´t cost too much all in all but I seriously will have to choose when next to shoot with it since I don´t wanna send it in and have it professionally cleaned constantly. And I do wanna take care of it; it is about 150 years old after all and deserves a great deal of respect and service!

I always wondered how black powder revolvers work, I know they come during the time of cartridge loaded smokeless rounds became introduced.
mirocu
Nov 27 2016, 09:28 PM
Well, basically you become a handloader. You fiil the chambers with black powder, then with some sort of wad to fill the gap between the powder and the ball, then the ball itself and then some grease to lube the bore.
They were still very common even after cartridge guns were introduced and this is one part because of price but also because of the patent that Colt held that prohibited others to make guns the same way. When that expired, others could start making cartridge guns too.
There were ways around it which is why you can convert your cap and ball into a cartridge gun. Still have to use black powder though, obviosuly.
Don't quote me on this though. What I know I've learned from Hickok45, I haven't studied the subject first hand.

It was a good thing indeed that I sent my revolver in for cleaning and checkup. As I hinted it was as dirty as seven sins plus the spring replacement it needed.
It just came back to me today and it´s right beside me as I type this

Weren't black powder revolvers really dangerous?
Yeah, if you stand on the receiving end

When black powder guns blow up it's usually because the shooter used modern smokeless powder, either by accident or by ignorance thinking it would work. Overloading is another issue as well as leaving space between the powder and the projectile, effectively making a pipe bomb out of the gun.
I admit, messing with gun powder is something I'm not used to and I do take whatever precautions I can when dealing with it.
But it's fairly safe. For instance, if I load the cylinder without putting the caps on it's almost as safe as not being loaded at all. I can even [censored] the hammer and hit any nipple and it won't go off, it needs the caps for that.

My .357 is loaded with hollowpoint semijackets so all energy goes to the first target. That is specifically to prevent the bullet from continuing through walls and into my neighbor's house. Hell of an impact for the first target though. . . .

My Derringer is a .357 with a 3.5 inch barrel, thanks to the rubber grip I bought for it-it's become my favorite conceal carry---although I can use my .44 Magnum as a conceal carry but I need some hollow points for it if I'm going to carry it out in public for protection.

Yeah, I would imagine they don´t sound too far apart from each other. In reality it´s very hard to distinguish one caliber from another even if they
are far apart. You´d probably have to be a sound expert in order to even have a chance to pull that off
