If this was the real thing it'd be an actual assault rifle, Uncle Sammy would be eyeballing me for sure lol laugh.gif.

Honestly I think this is a pleasing alternative to buying an actual AR-15, it feels like that one hybrid polymer/metal AR-15 and I don't have to argue with my family as to why I want to buy one, though IF the day does come to buy an actual AR-15 comes around at least I got plenty of ammo for it biggrin.gif.
mirocu
Only issue I have is when the CO2 cartridges are beginning to empty but I don't notice it and just end up thinking I'm suddenly a terrible shot. What I want on these things is a good CO2 gauge, same kind of thing that's on the fancy airguns with an air reservoir that you pump up with an external pump.
Dark Reaper
Speaking of which if I do find my old pump pellet gun, I might take the sights off of it and put it on the new gun. The sights on it are really hard to see though specially on black backgrounds.
Dark Reaper
Welp---It's ordered, just got to wait for a few days to get in.

I need more practice and maybe I'll get that this year if I FINALLY bring out my Beretta and give it a go.

Done and done!

Yes; I was at Chez Cottage this afternoon, did some bits and bobs when I suddenly got an urge to bring out my Beretta for some shooting. About time, think I bought it three years ago! tongue.gif

It was quite good fun! Heavy gun, heavy blowback and overall a very nice gun to shoot. It did shoot quite low but I knew that beforehand. Didn't stand too far from the target and I still had to bring it up over the center. It worked fine however and I got four and a half mag out of one CO2 which considering the heavy slide and blowback isn't too shabby. On a warmer day I may even get a full five mag out of it.

Fully field stripable and it locks back after the last shot; really nice gun. I do want a holster tailored for it but I have yet to find one. I may have to go with a generic one. Today I solved it by using one of my revolver holsters made for the 1858.

Also; I did use eye protection which was good as I could hear some rounds come back at me. Didn't hit but they could have. ALWAYS USE EYE PROTECTION.

Coming soon!

The P90!

And it's been ordered! And now we wait for it to ship happy.gif .
mirocu
Awesome!

As for me I just got notice that the holster has arrived. A small addendum to my shooting but a welcome one. I went with a generic holster as I couldn't find one specifically tailored for the Beretta M92.

Finally got my new shotgun! The store I got it at does have a layaway, but they can only hold it for 30 days and no extensions. I thought about getting an AK but that would be tricky, and I don't have ammo for it. I have thought about getting a .22 Cal. AR style rifle that looks like a H&K MP5. It's not that expensive and they had plenty of them...we'll see.

I got a Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol as a present this past September! I'll get a pic of it and post it in the guns thread (where this info belongs, lol).

Yes! Do it! biggrin.gif

I was planning to get the CO2 replica of the M&P 40 for years but when push came to shove I opted for a Beretta instead tongue.gif
Dark Reaper
Well my brother in law gave me two hunting rifles! Both are bolt action hunting rifles. One is 30-06 the other one is a HMR .17.
I'm still buying that .22 Cal. MP5 next paycheck if I can.
mirocu
I'm still amazed how you guys don't even need licenses tongue.gif

Depending on the state you need a licenses to carry one BUT there's states like Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas that went Constitutional Carry meaning you no longer need one but it is advisable to get some training and learn the local laws.

Then I know where to move if I ever find myself in the States! laugh.gif

I would definitely do that for sure! I'd be that guy who always asks questions and annoys everyone tongue.gif

Also, I have some (very) limited pistol shooting experience and I learned quickly that I need much practice in order to get good. I could do some now already though without wearing down on my original blackpowder guns as I have that Beretta.

Also also; you have pics of those hunting rifles?
Dark Reaper
I'll get photos of those rifles here in a little bit biggrin.gif .
Dark Reaper
Here's the rifles my Brother in Law gave us.
mirocu
Nice ones! I see the top one even has a fluted barrel biggrin.gif

I got one more gun that I'm going to get and that'll be it. Just 5 days to go!
mirocu
Cool! This is one I can sort of get myself if I get the 10/22 and an aftermarket 25 round mag biggrin.gif

Also; where's that gun pic, mALX?? laugh.gif
Dark Reaper
Saw a video that the showed off the Mauser M-16 22.LR and they describe it as being modeled after the SCAR and I like SCARS in Tom Clancy games, so it's settled. I'm getting the Mauser M-16 .22LR rifle next week. I might even pick up a box of Mini Mags to go with it.
mirocu
Minimags are the only thing I use in my .22 as well.

They're fun rounds if you don't have a .22 Magnum and want to experience that little kick.
mirocu
Also I hear they're most reliable in autos and even though I have a lever I still want to feed it the best biggrin.gif

Mini-SCAR.

Such a nice one! Wouldn't mind if you sent it to me if you get bored of it. Just field strip it and send it in an xbox biggrin.gif

No smuggling! Sorry Han.

Okay, here are a couple pics of my gun:

I only shot it one time = target practice in the brother-in-law's back yard. It is LOUD, and has a powerful kick back, lol.

Acadian
Very nice, mALX. Good choice on not too big for your hands but still a decent caliber.
mirocu
Very nice, mALX! Just the gun I wanted to get in CO2 version but didn't. Is it .40?

I read something about stopping power not being a thing but as a hunter I reject that notion. A higher caliber makes more damage quicker so the nervous system shuts down faster, resulting in death. Having been in the military, what's your take, Acadian?

Thank you, Mirocu!

(It is a 9mm). It has two extra clips that I use with full metal jackets (for target practice). The clip on board is hollowpoints (talk about "stopping power!"). It has three extra grips; but the one that is on it is the one I like best. It also came with the lock and an invitation from Smith & Wesson to join the NRA; lol. It was a nice little package Smith & Wesson put out. It shoots straight enough with the right hand on it (in other words, not mine, lol).

mirocu
9 mill is good enough I suppose. Same caliber as the classic kpist we had in the military up to the '80s or so. Could be wrong. Shot that thing many years ago, quite good fun and no kick from it being basically a small rifle but man was it hard not to squeeze the trigger too much so it went *BRRRRP* and the mag was empty laugh.gif

It is plenty enough for me, I can't pick up a heavy gun or handle the kickback of a really powerful one. The 9mm with hollowpoints will stop anything coming at me if I am ever strong enough to cock the damn thing, lol.

Thanks Khajiit! I do like them. I used to have a 9mm Ruger, and loved it = actually liked it better than this S&W.

mirocu
Good thing about the S&W you got are those different grips to switch out. So whatever caliber you may choose you're likely to still get it to fit your hand. Wouldn't mind one myself.

So when you're tired of it, here's my address...

I think mALX made a great choice. Given the short barrel, the gun is obviously for short range and that is where stopping power is king. 9mm with hollowpoint will do the job without knocking mALX around disrupting her ability to fire again if needed.

Stopping power is different than killing power and critical at short range. An M-16 is only 5.56 caliber but it packs an OMG muzzle velocity. The small, slender bullet reaches target very quickly and ignores wind. With its pointed nose and super velocity, it not only has long range accuracy but can hit a foe in the hip, tumble several times inside the body (because the small bullet is so easily deflected) and exit out the shoulder - plenty of killing power. Low stopping power though in that, though it will kill really well, it may not instantly stop (the momentum) of a large foe charging at close range.
mirocu
Interesting points there, Acadian. I think what you said last was what I had in mind with regards to stopping power; can the caliber in question stop someone's momentum quick enough for the threat to be neutrilized at a close range. As a hunter I had a bear or wolf in mind. Or a xenomorph.

You did bring up the interesting thing about small calibers tumbling inside the body, I guess that's a characteristic of the .22LR as well? I've heard for and against that caliber for self defense with those against it talking about stopping power not being there and those for talking about killing power, what you said basically. The problem I see here is that while it can get rid if the threat it may take awhile and by then it can be too late. And then we can talk about shot placement and the sun's position relative to Jupiter and all the rest of it tongue.gif

You made me think here, that's no small feat. Thanks, Acadian biggrin.gif

Here in the southern US, alligator hunters use .22LR because they have just enough power to penetrate a ‘gator’s skull, but when it gets in there it tends to bounce around a bit. Scrambled gator brains anyone?
mirocu
.22LR on a gator sounds like Dundee level laugh.gif
