Turns out there is - a scientist called Pinkerton, known to help androids

SX4 agreed to the surgery and while he's lying sedated on Pinkerton's operating table, inside his head distorted memories from distant past emerge, when he wasn't an android but a soldier in the US Army named Nick Volodymyr, sent on a mission to Anchorage...

I use the OpenTeammateContainer 1 command to give the captives weapons and ammo. That way when they run into the next batch of mutants down the road they pull out an assault rifle or flamer and lay the smack down.

SX4 also met a hot scientist...

@SubRosa - Janice is hot indeed, even the android can feel it. Clever to give captives some weapon and ammo, I might do that as well, equip them with a FatMan for instance.

@Acadian - yes, their deathwish consists of attracting attention of every enemy in the area. To make Nick look younger, I changed his silvery blue eyes with normal blue eyes, made his skin tone slightly lighter and reduced intensity of eye sockets and eyeliner.

Nick has met the Snow Scorpions. I made a new - white - skin for them, but they always became cowardly and fled the player. So I had to revert to the original look.

The mini-nuke is all mine. Though I didn't think of it as a shrine. Originally I put a Fat Man there along with some mini nukes. But I later changed my mind and put the gauss rifle there instead. I wanted it to be available early in the mod, and the only other one is toward the end. I decided to leave one mini-nuke for dressing.

I am pretty sure that skeleton in the chair was all my idea. I wanted signs of the pre-war life all around.

I put my money on the microfusion cells to win!

Yes, the white texture worked fine on the Polar Yao Guai. There are two of them in Anchorage Aftermath, and they are always hostile. But the three different varieties of Snow Scorpions I created always turned cowardly. No matter how many times I deleted and re-created them.

If you are going to be using the gauss, I highly recommend Gauss DX. It fixes some of the bugs it has, and adds some really neat fx.

@SubRosa - Nick encountered one Yao Guai just before entering the trenches but haven't run into second one. He used the Gauss Rifle in Anchorage but back in the wasteland he sticks to his Atomic Pulverizer.

@Acadian - Nick didn't consider the fact that yellow snow might make Chinese invaders even harder to spot.

@Renee - he nipped to the loo, that's what he's doing. In fact the pose used in the last pic is meant to be a mourning one but seen from behind it can be interpreted as something else too.

I loved this place, SubRosa, especially because it was possible to see legs of hostile soldiers if crouched.

The Colonel was very tough and the battle didn't just consist of shooting but also of running around the Colonel's quarters to find some precious time for healing. When he managed to cripple her hand, though, things got a bit easier. And so...having relived the battle of Anchorage and finished what he couldn't finish two hundred years ago Nick Volodymyr could leave Alaska in peace.

Back to reality - SX4 waking up. Notice the subtle scar on the left part of his head, a souvenir of the surgery.

But was Anchorage really just a dream? Because if it was, how is it possible that SX4 found the Colonel's Venomblade in his trenchoat?

But maybe it's better if some questions remain unanswered.

A lot of beheading and disarming going on there! Very cool how, even though Nick originally failed so long ago, this time he finished the job and survived. To wonder whether it really happened or was just a dream seems like a natural question for NickSX4 to have, so it was another brilliant touch having him find a piece of evidence that he really was there! Yay Nick!

Looks like Nick has gotten ahead of the Commies! Except of course when he is giving them a hand..

I loved that area of the Chinese HQ with all the oil tanks. I was hoping for some hide and seek shootouts in there, where you could sneak up on commies, and be sneaked up on by them in turn.

I am glad the Colonel turned out to be a challenge. I wanted her to be a big, final boss after all. Have fun with her poison sword!

@Acadian - Nick's mission in the past is now complete but plenty more lie ahead. I'm glad you liked the fact that it's not clearly known whether it was just a sim or something more.

@SubRosa - the Colonel was indeed a challenge, even for enhanced Nick, her damage resistance was very high. She was way above every other enemy in the AA with Captain Flint being the 2nd toughest.

@ SubRosa & Renee - wait until Nick gets you in his hands.

Uh oh Cazadores! Hecate, watch out, they're difficult to bring down even at high levels. Not even Blondie who is both high-leveled and wields a powerful weapon, feels comfortable when they get too close though TBH that hasn't happened in a while.

SX4 decided to help another rogue android and the best thing he could do, was to "remove" his hunter.

The next thing he did, was to disarm the hunter's bodyguard which is in fact an android but an evil one.

But the bodyguard didn't give up - he attacked SX4 with his bare fists.

Nick said "Why not?" and returned the favor.

But when the hunter's bodyguard resorted to cheating...

...the match was over!

SubRosa - No skeeters and no flies here. The lack of skeeters makes complete sense in the desert. Not sure on the flies though. I spent lots of time in the deserts of the middle east and it is swarming with flies. Just lucky out here in the Mojave I guess. Well, we do have rattlesnakes (not the blue-eyed blonde kind), mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes and bark scorpions. The bark scorpions are small but among the most dangerous scorpions there are (not counting the megaradiated giant ones on FONV of course.)

I see the problem right away with that other android. When SX4 disarmed him, he simply removed his weapon as opposed to the more literal Persephonic definition of ‘disarm’ that quite ably removes fistfighting as an option.

That sparkly blue ash pile of the other hunter makes me think of commercials for scrubbing bubbles and the like.

@Acadian - SX4 wouldn't mind taking some disarm-for-good lessons from Persephone. After all, she also died and was "reborn", so they have something in common. The labcoat lady is Madison Li but she's one of those women that are pretty from a distance.

@SubRosa - I think that Armitage took the Chinese Pistol from ashes of Dr. Zimmer, his default weapon was an energy pistol but Nick shot it useless.

Finally, my mod at work - first hunter B-MAX-Betty activated herself a few days after events of Anchorage and was walking in SX4's direction. Though I knew where I placed her, I couldn't foresee where will she catch up with him. It happened at Wilhelm's Wharf, a very appropriate location for the shootout which followed.

Lopov: For some reason 'Young' Lady Gibson has been staying indoors lately, leaving her distinctive chair for the dogs, and occasional passersby.

I hate cazadors. They move so fast, and so unpredictably, that they are a real pain in the rear to hit with a sniper rifle. I have had my best luck with Annie Ley Oak, using her Colt M4 on automatic.

Thanks to armor-piercing rounds, Hecate has learned to turn Deathclaws into Deadclaws.

Acadian: I always think of policing up the brass whenever I see spent cartridges flying in video games.

Lopov: Morning Sniper was on roof of one of the three big Fiend leaders. The girl with all the dogs. Violet. The Animal Friend perk made the dogs easy. At least until Hecate killed Violet. Then they all went hostile. But thankfully a Legion assassination team showed up then, and the dogs all went for the Legionaries.

That is none other than Motor Runner's helmet. You cannot see the .308 size hole in the back of it, where his brains flew out out.

Hecate has not gone into the Sarsparilla HQ yet. She is still working on collecting enough star bottlecaps. She have enough by now. I will have to check the next time I play.

I see that Hecate has a cleaning action of several vaults across the Mojave.

I don't recall what official Wiki says but the robot behind House always reminded me of Liberty Prime.

That's the legendary deathclaw, right? Congrats to Hecate to bring it down, that beast is capable of killing even high-leveled characters in or two strikes.

The promontory should be renamed to the Deathclaw Graveyard.

Acadian: Hecate prefers her enemies to far, far away. But well within the reach of her M110 Semi Automatic Sniper System of course!

You noticed the wisp stalk caps! Those are one of the only meshes/textures to make the transition from Oblivion to Fallout. They look a lot healthier in Cyrodiil though.


Renee: There are not too many people these days who know where "Feed Me! I'm Hungry!" is from!

Hecate's red outfit is her Space Suit, from the Repconn Test Site. It has healthy radiation resistance, so she wears it in the heavy rad zones. Plus it actually has a decent armor rating.

She doesn't have anything in her hands in the Iron Man pic. She just has one in the air is all.


Lopov: At this point I believe Hecate has explored every Vault in the Mojave. She has discovered every location except the Boomer's area, and the insides of two casinos.

That green Deathclaw was from Dead Wind Cavern. So I think that was the Legendary Deathclaw in that pic. It took a lot of satchel charges to take it down, plus a ton of bullets.

I love that area just outside Tops, where you can see the 38 sign. Hecate’s brass flying from the chamber is very cool, as is her nifty ‘chameleon’ suit. Oh, and palm trees.

Lucky 38 looks pretty good inside. Something tells me Hecate did not go inside to either get lucky or to get a pair of 38’s.

It wasn't Vulpes that Hecate shot on the Strip. She did kill him in Nipton. It was someone else, I forget his name.

Mr. House is definitely not the man he used to be. Now we know what Tony Stark will look like in 200 years.

Hecate did not go after Kimball. In fact, she meant to try to stop the assassination attempt against him. But the game wouldn't let me. It ended the quest to do so before she could even get to Hoover Dam. I have no idea why. She stopped off at El Dorado to sneak in an override chip into the power grid, and afterward the Kimball quest just vanished.


Acadian: I am sure you see The Lucky 38, The Tops, and Gomorrah all the time when you drive through town!

What a nice collection of screens documenting Hecate’s assault across the Hoover Dam!

If Hecate looks nice in a skirt, she looks downright delish in her swim suit as she rescues that B-29. I loved some of the ‘Legion go home’ type graffiti along the bridge. And air power helping to turn the tide. I also like the unicycle-bots and Hecate’s heavy-hitting helper. As you say, in the end there can be only one.

And so Hecate has come to the end of the road. Nice screenies and a fitting end for both Lanius and Oliver.

I thought that you can't bring companions to the final fight so it surprised me to see Veronica helping Hecate against Lanius.

With the Legion and NCR out of the way, now it's for Hecate to lead New Vegas on her own. Or leave it all behind and move on to another place...

Wow I really love this one. Not just 'cause she's in a bathing suit either. She looks like one of my Sims 3 characters in that outfit. I've got this fascination with combining Sims with something more 'adult', you see. *laughs*

Ha ha ha I love the Boomer things. That whole quest (or whatever it is) must be fun.

Acadian: I didn't get too many pics the one time I 'beat' New Vegas before, so I wanted to make sure I got plenty this time, especially of the Boomers bombing run.


Lopov Hecate was trying to be nice about kicking the NCR out of the Mojave without killing anyone. But General Oliver wasn't having any of it. So in the end she had to toss him off the dam. I wonder if that means the rest of the NCR were killed or not? They kind of leave that fuzzy. I did get a slide about how the misfits survived the battle at Camp Golf, and how one of them later got her promotion to sergeant. So obviously the NCR outside of Hoover Dam left Nevada alive.

I had Veronica with me all the way to the very end. Hecate only recruited her during the Side Bets quest, to make it easier getting in with the Brotherhood. Which turned out to be pointless since there is apparently no way to recruit them on the side of an Independent New Vegas.

Hecate will be moving on. Or moving back in time to be more precise...


Renee: That is Hecate's robot army. They are waiting shut down in a vault beneath the Legion's fort. If you go the Independant route you can activate them, upgrade them with better weapons, and unleash them upon the Wasteland as your Robotic Army of Doom! Muhahahhhaha!

The Boomers are neat. They live on Nellis Air Force base, and have plenty of artillery pieces. They use the later to blast anyone who tries to get near. So reaching them is not easy. Their quest line ends with raising the bomber that was sunk in Lake Meade for them. It is the same one they use to fly over Hoover Dam in the final battle and bomb the Imperial Caesar's Legion with.


I have decided to turn back the hands of time. Hecate must follow in her father's footsteps and escape from Vault 101.

Hecate is my first character to ever save Tom and Mary Holden from the guards at the atrium exit.

That Flora Overhaul looks really neat. The dry wasteland suits the George Miller idea of Mad Max but not really an urban setting like DC. Much more like a Chernobyl zone now!

If you like that theme, SubRosa, you will enjoy the Far Harbor DLC. It has heaps of that flora, combined with a cool Silent Hill fog that drifts eerily down into the lowlands. I downloaded it yesterday and it is really, really good.

Acadian: I gave her the hunting rifle to start with. I made a mod that adds all the base, entry-level weapons to the start of the tutorial area. I did the same with Oblivion. That way my characters can start off using the kind of weapon I intended for them, and I can practice with it and see if I really like it.

I think the big red moon got blown up by the atom bombs! Lousy Commie Moon...


Winter Wolf: So far I am liking Flora Overhaul - Forested Edition quite a bit. In all fairness to George Miller, the Max movies are set in Australia after all, and you folks have some seriously badass deserts over there, without the benefit of nuclear weapons. Here in the States we only have deserts in the South-West: the Mojave, Great Basin, Sonoran, and Chihuahan. The rest of the country is prairie or forest.

I am sure nuclear war would incinerate most of the plant life. But it only takes one seed to create a forest, and 200 years is a long time for nature to do its work. TBH, there would be no roads or wood frame buildings at all. They would have been completely reclaimed. Stone buildings would have collapsed and just be a pile of rocks overgrown with weeds and moss and shrubs. Chernobyl (and here in Detroit!) gives us a good example of how quickly human-made structures disintegrate without proper care and upkeep.

Far Harbor does sound neat. I liked the idea back from when it was first announced. Though it does sound a lot like Point Lookout part 2. But I loved Point Lookout, so that is not a bad thing, imho. I am still holding off on buying FO4 until they finish all the dlc and patches and come out with a GOTY/Atomic Edition.

A smoking mod would suit the sitting up in bed pic after the wild lovemaking there. Unless, of course, nothing happened there, of course.

Great to see the early part of the game again. So many super duper moments- Overlook, Springvale, Megaton, the local school, Super Duper Mart. Fallout 3 will always be my favorite game I have ever played, just because I had not seen such a cool start to any game, plus the whole RPG shooter thing. Oblivion is a close second though. Skyrim, yuck, and Fallout 4, drab.

Acadian: Everything looks like a pile of junk in Fallout. That is one of the things I love about these games. Junk is treasure! (seriously though, it is...)

Winter Wolf: For an innocent vault girl, meeting Nova would definitely be a world-changing experience. In more ways than one!

I heard an interview with Wes Johnson (who voices Mr. Burke), and he says that even he kills Burke all the time!


Lopov: Hecate did not kill the Overseer. He is Amata's dad after all. I think I have only had one or two characters actually kill him.

The sad thing is that the only thing different about my Megaton is the lighting. Otherwise it is completely vanilla. I don't know why Bethesda decided to screw up the game with all of the terrible green lighting effects they used on everything.

Actually the town sheriff was there when Burke got his just desserts. That is why Burke has his gun out. Hecate was quicker on the draw.
