Lopov: I believe that finely dressed lady was a vampire, and that was one of the Ayleid vampire ruins.

As Renee noted, the TFC2 command from that mod stops everything, like Fallout 3 and beyond do.

Renee: The Orrery is a neat idea. I just wish the powers it grants were better. I don't like taking a penalty in one thing to get a bonus in something else.

Acadian: I think it should be called the Ornery, rather than the Orrery...

I was thinking much the same thing when I looked at that picture of January sitting. Where is a chamber pot mod when you need one?

mirocu: The pirates pic is in the vanilla game. It is in Black Rock Caverns, a cave a little north west of Chorrol. There is a secret level beneath the regular dungeon, that is not easy to get to.

Dead drunk

Did I just step in something?

Lopov
I expected to see a dead goblin after reading the caption.

Does a ghost poop in the ruins?

That deer looks quite big compared to Jan.

It took me a while to figure out where is the troll's head.

January the Nun.

Sean likes Jan, judging by his smile.
Renee
Agreed about the Orrery; it's sort of useless without Construction Set intervention, I suppose. Joan of Arkay has visited this place a couple times in the past (vanilla game on Xbox), but both the spells she got weren't really useful to her, and are now cluttering her Magic book.

Ha ha it's the passed out drunken goblin! laugh.gif And people wonder why Oblivion got an M rating eventually....

Uh oh, hopefully she didn't just step in the A-bomb. mad.gif

Is that relaxing fire in Weye's inn (forget its name) where Nerussa wants more wine?

Aw, Jan looks cute in that robe. smile.gif (which is why she's so not wearing this, because she's already too cute).

Renee
Let's have a shot of Lothran from back in the day. smile.gif
mirocu
Lothran's been hijacked!! laugh.gif laugh.gif

SubRosa -

What do you do with a drunken goblin earrrrrly in the morning?

Haha! What a wonderfully clever title when Jan steps in ghostigoop.

Oh deer indeed!

Gee, then you fill a troll with lightning and toss it into the air, they somehow seem a lot less frightening.

Aww, the fire looks cozy.

Whew, nice to know there are others not impressed by the guild's green bags.

Well, Jan and Martin are great. The bald guy. . . not so much. I think Buffy never forgave his ungracious initial behavior. Of course, intentionally referring to him as Jeffery likely didn't help their cool relationship.

Renee/mirocu - Oh, I remember that picture too!
SubRosa
Lopov: The goblin is dead. He started out that way. Jan just found him.

It's actually a dead ghost, but it sure looks like something a dog or cat might leave for a present...

Renee: I think I have played Jan more hours than any other Oblivion character. So I might have to watch for the A-Bomb. Thankfully there are ways of fixing it now.

That is indeed the Wawnet Inn, ran by Nerussa. January did not get anywhere with her. She's just too shy.

Acadian: That was the first and last time Jan ever wore one of those green bags.

Wonderful shots, and I'm quite enjoying following January through Oblivion's Main Quest.

Aww, 5 candles and the Mistress of Twilight.

Those Bruma guards watching January about to grab a sigil stone look pretty nervous!

Weird. I could swear this is at Azura's shrine, but when Lothran is there it always snows. I'm beginning to wonder if fw 38eed 1 that I always use has something to do with it...? biggrin.gif
Renee
Judo Chop.... is that... Deadly Reflex?

She's got soldiers following her. Good thing, especially if she's shy.

SubRosa
Acadian: I have had fun playing Oblivion again with January. I have forgotten so much of the main quest, that it was practically all new to me again.

Thanks to the Oblivion Crisis, January is very leery of having any dealings with Daedric Princes. Azura and Meridia are the only ones she feels safe interacting with.

mirocu: It has been so long I cannot remember if I used the console to clear the weather on that Azura pic or not. I probably did so that I could see the sky.

Renee: Judo chop is Austin Powers! He used to say that out loud before every time he did a judo chop. I don't use any mods for fighting. Instead I made what amounts to an invisible mace, and called it martial arts. That way it does real damage, and can be enchanted.

Those soldiers are from the quest to close the Bruma Gate, you take the guard captain and some of his henchmen through the gate to teach them how its done.

Thanks to January and Martin is Tamriel safe again.

I always thought that Martin looks better in armor than in bland robes.

Great shot of Mehrunes vs Martin.

January likes to take selfies.
Acadian
A wonderful set of screenshots portraying the end of the 3rd Era!

I agree with your endorsement of only Azura and Meridia. In ESO, Azura remains the same (not evil) but Meridia actually rises significantly on the 'good Daedra Lord' scale.

This set of screens is particularly interesting to me since I've recently completed the draft and have begun posting Buffy's Book 3 which also gets Tamriel to the end of the 3rd Era. smile.gif

My only question is what's next for January?
Renee
Cripes she's already DONE the Main Quest????? blink.gif

Well, it has been some weeks, I guess I can see the perspective there, as you (January) is quite motivated. Still, I don't know how you folks do it. I'm always thinking in terms of years when it comes to main quests or guild quests! laugh.gif

It's a Jan selfie. wub.gif

SubRosa
Lopov: Jan really liked teaming up with Martin. The Dragon and the Crow

January is a Millennial, so she is all about the selfies.

Acadian: It has been a long time since I played Oblivion, and even longer since I did the main quest. It was really nice going down memory lane again.

Maybe Buffy will bump into the Champion of Cyrodiil, whom rumor has it hails from a far off country known as Detroit? wink.gif laugh.gif

Renee: I actually finished out the main quest a few weeks ago. I have been really slow to post pics of late. I have a ton of them backed up on my drive.

There are plenty more Jan selfies on the way!

HOLY COW are your graphics ever good for Oblivion! Especially the wood and rock up close in that first shot looks amazing!

I am in awe to learn you finally did the main quest; what did you think of it? (What were your impressions throughout?)

SubRosa
Lopov: January will probably get to that Nordic spa up in Skryim sooner or later.

Acadian: I normally don't like it when people are calling a character of mine the champion. The accolades make me uncomfortable. But it is perfect for January, as she gets that a lot as a superhero.

Winterlands are much more wonderful when you are looking at them out the window or in pictures, rather than when you are standing in them and freezing your toes off.

mALX: Mot of my updated graphics are from Quarls texture pack 3. It is huge, and a real performance hit. I never could have run it on my computer from 2009. But the good thing about an old game, is now my PC hardware is good enough to run it!

I liked the Oblivion main quest a lot. I think it is probably my favorite Bethesda main quest. The oblivion gates can get tedious. But most of them only open when you come nearby. So what I did this time was travel around the map to all the cities first as part of the Mages Guild recommendation quests. Then I started the main quest after that, and fast traveled from city to city to keep the number of oblivion gates down. In the end I think only had to clear about a dozen gates. Aside from that, I thought it was a lot of fun, and a good story, and playing the game afterward did not feel like a letdown (and unlike Fallout 3 or New Vegas, they did not kill my character or just end the game right afterward).

100% agree with you on the Oblivion main questline being the best I've played through so far (I actually didn't play all the way through Morrowind's yet). Oblivion's felt like it came about naturally; it didn't feel forced or contrived to me like some of Bethesda's later games did.

And yeah; as much as I love the Fallout games - I really hated how they just ended the whole game when you finished the main questline. (and also how they tried to control your character from being OP by stopping any leveling at level 25 = I was playing on the console back then, and couldn't mod that out or use the tilde key to add in more Perks, etc).

Ooh, that is interesting about today's computers doing Oblivion better! I had to play my Oblivion game on Medium graphics back when I played it; makes me really wonder how good I could get my game looking now!

These shots are amazing! I don't remember ever seeing that dam in the game! Is it vanilla?

My favorite has to be the one showing off her new armor; how nostalgic that one is!

Acadian
I agree that the MQ in Oblivion is a pretty good one. It suited Buffy because she is more of a Gabriel than a Xena and, since Martin was The Chosen One, Buffy was able to fill the role she enjoy – being a helper.

Nice Champion Superheroine of Cyrodiil armor!

Reaching for the sky is a wonderful spellcasting shot.

I love Jan’s cross-legged relaxing pose.

I was able to find her perch (I think).
SubRosa
Lopov: I put the close ups of her first, so there would be some hints to where she was in the wide angle pictures.

The Ayleid ruins January was frolicking in were added by Unique Landscapes - Brena River Falls. It is my favorite of all the Unique Landscapes mods.

mALX: If you have bought a new computer in the last ten years or so, it will probably run Oblivion pretty good.

Those ruins are a mod, from Unique Landscapes - Brena River Falls. It is a really cool place.

Acadian: I liked Martin being the Chosen One too. I just wish the Faction questlines did not make you the leader of every faction at the end of them.

No, it doesn't seem so. It took a lot of mental gymnastics and roleplaying to work that into Buffy's view of 3rd Era Cyrodiil. tongue.gif

Buffy's hated Sheo ever since he managed to talk her into disrupting that nice little Khajiit village in Border Watch. She's never forgiven herself or Sheo for that. She was on a kick at the time to gather Daedric artifacts but learned the hard way that sometimes the price isn't worth it.

I suppose you could do the SI main quest up to a certain point with Jigglepuff had the upper hand, and then just stop and leave it there. It has been a really long time since I did it, so I don't know just where that would be.

Kind of like how you can prevent the Oblivion Crisis by simply never delivering the Amulet of Kings to Jeffrey Jauffree.

Wicked, macole! I can remember my second attempt at the Main Quest. At first I was like "let's get this over with" when it came to closing gates, but I soon became rather addicted to closing them. My Grey Wizard character would look forward to doing so. When the MQ was finally done, I remember I felt a little down about this. biggrin.gif

I thought it was getting anywhere near Kvatch that started the gates to begin opening; and that delivering the Amulet starts the Mythic Dawn attacks on the Player by those "sleeper" agents. It has been a few years since I've played though; I could be wrong.

I always played the main quest; but usually delayed it till about level 17 to get the more powerful Sigil stones, lol.

Morrowind was MUCH harder to mod than Oblivion; so if you ever decide to try modding again = you can do anything you ever dreamed of doing in Oblivion (and so easy to do that it is just plain fun!)

Morrowind had the complication of everything having to be done in conversations, which got recorded in the journal, and Oblivion freed you from that. But Oblivion added other complications such as voiced dialog, and dialog between NPC's, and NPC wandering away on their own AI schedules ...

Both of those games used scripts that ran continuously, so Skyrim event-driven module was an improvement over that, but added more things to consider, such as package interuption, lost or pre-empted event notifications and more.

I'm not sure which one of those I'd consider hardest to work with, but I've published more mods for Skyrim, then Oblivion next, and none got that far for Morrowind. It's probably the same order for unpublished ones.

Not to mention that in Morrowind even the file names were restrictive and could throw off your entire mod from working without even giving an error message as to why it wasn't showing up at all, lol.

Even Skyrim wasn't as bad (for me) as Morrowind was on modding. In Skyrim I really struggled with that darn Papyrus; and those (urgh) lists locking the most obscure items to cells and crashing the game if they were removed (or even just moved). Fallout 4 is even worse than Skyrim on that. But Oblivion = even I never had trouble scripting or manipulating the AI in Oblivion; and that is saying a lot; laugh.gif (if I can do it, I figure any ten year old could do it better, lol).

I've had 40-years experience with IBM JCL, Assembler, and COBOL and I still found the scripting to be confusing. The naming was a snap once I figured out the conventions e.g. character length, file pathing, etc. I made simple a race mod, placed suit of armor and a couple weapons in other places, and a note in the thieves cave near Seyda Neen describing where to find the artifacts. I had an excel spreadsheet pages and pages long just to keep track of it all. That was so much fun working on that I didn't play at all for months.

Don't tell Tod, I'm a flow chart and spreadsheetty guy.

I have no clue on Morrowind; but Oblivion was C++ and any "If, Then" setup would work to get anything you wanted out of anything in game. And YES, it was so much fun that making the mods was as much fun as playing the game sometimes!

Renee
Yeah, Oblivion is easier to work with but Skyrim runs more efficiently. Technically Skyrim makes more sense but dang, it is a b1tch to learn.

Lovely pics macole. I did some gaming with Joan of Arkay recently. Her game's on Xbox but I've got this capture device which lets me take better pictures than my cell camera.

Swimming

Strolling

Arriving -- (she lives in Battlehorn Castle).

I realized recently that Joan's peculiarly round face was probably inspired by actual painting from the Middle Ages, during which a lot of artists hadn't mastered the art of perspective, yet. A lot of faces from that era had this "flat" sort of look. I probably made her face while viewing the painting in the first link below.

I love to go swimming with bow-legged women,
and swim between their legs...

Sorry, that first picture gives me flashbacks of watching Jaws.

Joan looks sad. sad.gif

What a coincidence. I watched a YouTube today of two vampires trying to force a young vampire to drain her niece who was laying on the floor. To the rescue in strode walked St. Joan of Arkay. Haseldor fled as she mopped the floor with the other vampire.

Wow, Renee, that capture device thing you are using does a beautiful job!

It's great! It's a video capture device but one day I realized it also takes screenshots.

I do have to lower Joan's eyebrows, that's the only thing I'll change once her game is on PC.

Wow, you did an amazing job of making your character look almost exactly like the "model" that inspired you to make her! Amazing job, and great pics!

@Renee - wow, it almost looks like Joan's game is on PC.

There's something "holy" on her face, I wouldn't go changing anything about it. I can picture her in a nun outfit. wink.gif

Nice to see the Battlehorn Castle, I've never "seen" it in my games.

@mirocu - maybe that's a hint to play some Star Wars, if you haven't done so lately. bigsmile.gif

Clad in fur, the Nordic Dunmer feels no cold.
