Man, I almost want those paintings in Lothran´s home. Or.... in my home laugh.gif
Acadian
More wonderful Oberon paintings! Gosh it's been so long since I've seen an open Oblivion Gate I'd forgotten how terrifying they look, both outside and inside. Whew, glad Oberon survived. smile.gif
SubRosa
Acadian is right. Blood and Fire looks awesome with the gate and flames around Obe. The gate definitely looks creepier when it is 'painted'.
Lopov
Thanks all!

I also find painted gates "better" than non-painted.

The trio

If Baurus was in the painting too, the most important people during the Oblivion Crisis would all be painted together. Nonetheless, the painting above presents Jauffre, Martin and Oberon on Brandy about to leave the Weynon Priory after the Amulet of Kings had been stolen.

The arrival

Above we see the trio's arrival to the Cloud Ruler Temple with Cyrus greeting them. Those with keen-eyes will notice a dead deer in front of Brandy, the original version didn't include one but Oberon insisted for the deer to be painted, since apparently in that moment some forester shot a deer and it fell dead in the same moment as Cyrus opened the great gate of the Cloud Ruler Temple

Hail Martin Septim!

The Blades greet the Dragonborn while Jauffre and Oberon stand at his side.

The Cloud Ruler Temple

One of rare Colla Gius' paintings without any living beings.

Oberon the Knight Blade

Considered by most the best portrait of the Champion of Cyrodiil, portraying him as he's sitting in front of the fireplace in the Great Hall of the Temple.
SubRosa
That first one really does look like a painting, with the trio on horseback and the priory in the background.

Acadian
Great shots again, as you capture some of the most powerful moments of the main quest. I agree that the last shot is a very good one of Oberon!
ghastley
Caught an odd happening during my vacation in Oblivion.

Vampirella had just escorted Martin to the temple of the one, when I noticed that the Imperial Messenger had followed us. He stayed in the doorway, apparently not noticing the events happening around him, including when Dagon arrived. and wrecked the place. He was still there at the end, when Ocato nearly knocked him down, rushing in to address Vampi.
Lopov
@SubRosa - I was lucky that Jauffre and Martin positioned themselves in such a way that the priory was behind them.

@Acadian - most of the time faces don't get painted good so this one surprised me, maybe because of light given by the fire.

Oblivion walker

Oberon inside the Oblivion, sweating heavily in his fur cuirass.

Sigillium Sanguis

Gate closed

This one was located east of Aleswell.

Back to the city

Below the city

Baurus and Oberon going to the meeting, encircled by Oberon's starlight spell.

The Sponsor arrives

Battle in the sewers

Dinner with Dynari

The following three paintings present Oberon waiting for the Sun to "touch" the White-Gold Tower, thus revealing the location of the Dagon's shrine.

Waiting and thirsty

Waiting and restless

The Path of the Dawn

The last painting from this series shows Oberon and Brandy in the Jerall Mountains, heading to Lake Arrius Caverns.
Acadian
What a wonderful pictorial of Oberon's travels as he closes gates, works with Baurus, eats with Dynari and watches the sun come up. That mythic dawn/sun map display is a nice effect. Yay for Brandy! tongue.gif

Edit: Ya know, I think the name Mythic Dawn threw me off. I looked up that quest and, sure enough, I was mistaken. Oberon was waiting for the midday sun to illuminate that map. A casualty the name Mythic Dawn and only having done the MQ one time. embarrased.gif laugh.gif
SubRosa
It is very neat how the sky looks in the 'paintings', especially the final one at twilight.
Lopov
@Acadian - the riddle in question is one of my favorites in the TES series. It's not difficult to find out but it's a nice change from the rest of the MQ which heavily focuses on battles.

@SubRosa - I do think that late afternoon / evening skies look great when painted, on the other hand snowing doesn't look as good, snowflakes look like some random dots instead of proper snowflakes. But then again, not every painter is good at everything.

--

New Initiate

Painted deep inside Lake Arrius Caverns, in the secret shrine to Mehrunes Dagon. Colla Gius and Oberon made a trip to the caverns years after the Crisis was over so the painter could picture the events in the best possible way.

"I'd like my katana back, please." Though Colla Gius at first refused to paint Oberon sneaking behind one of the leading cultists, Oberon insisted that the moment when he pickpocketed Harrow and got his trusty katana back, was of major importance, because cultists confiscated his entire equipment.

Mehrunes Dagon, the Master and the Agent

The first painting in history to show Mankar Camoran, addressing his followers, albeit from quite a distance, so Mankar's face is indiscernible.

At Dagon's feet

Oberon about to "kill" Jeelius, the victim of the Mythic Dawn and complete his initiation into the guild. The hooded figure behind him is Ruma Camoran and we can see the Mysterium Xarxes on the altar to the left, where Mankar Camoran was standing during his speech.

Death of Ruma Camoran

In fact that was only her first death.

Statue collapsed

According to Oberon's story, it collapsed as soon as he took the Mysterium Xarxes.

And now to my personal winner from the Hot/Not contest which Renee hosted at Beth a few years ago:

She still wins for me.

Aww, Lil’s gone all pink in the face, and… why is Jerric sharpening his sword? laugh.gif It was fun to look through that selection of screenshots, Lopov. Thanks for the memories! happy.gif

The Gate paintings are fantastic! I love how the fire looks. Martin Septim’s portrait is a favorite. I know a Nord who would agree with Oberon about the title.

The Trio will be hard to beat as my favorite painting overall. It’s a beautiful work, plus it captures the beginning of the emotional journey to Cloud Ruler Temple. I agree with the majority that Oberon’s Knight Brother portrait is magnificent!

Gosh, those Oblivion and Cyrodiil landscapes are beautiful. They really make me imagine them in a frame on a wall. I love how Oberon looks with his bow in the first one.

New Initiate captures that ominous feeling of entering the shrine. I like how Oberon insisted that the critical but not very heroic looking moment of getting his katana back be recorded for history! smile.gif

ghastley, that Imperial messenger might have been frozen with fear! ohmy.gif
Acadian
What a great collection of paintings that so nicely showcase this exciting part of the MQ and Oberon's heroic part in it! Ya know, I've always liked those red robes. . . too bad they're so strongly associated with those losers in the Mythic Dawn,
Renee
Outta here! *

Under where?

Up on there

Gotta stare

If you dare

Pack coterie

* (RG3 and the Nord on the right are both nearly naked because this quest puts them in a maze which removes all their things. Renee's other two companions did not get affected by this though.

Yeah I know ... coterie doesn't rhyme. biggrin.gif That pic is RG3's latest clique of friends though.
SubRosa
Going to Endor to meet the Ewoks?

If I was under where, I don't think I would have the willpower to keep staring straight ahead! laugh.gif
Acadian
The DnD / Xena gang's all there! And looks like they've been practicing levitation upskirt magicks. tongue.gif
mirocu
I see Renee is starting to post pics similar to tmar´s tongue.gif
Lopov
Great shots, Renee, and love the rhymes. It's interesting that Renee didn't look up in the "Skirt" screenshot since our characters tend to turn their heads around to NPCs close to them. biggrin.gif

Thanks all for positive comments on Oberon's paintings.

More are featured bellow, still painted of course by Colla Gius, but unlike some others, these don't have a matching entry in Oberon's memoires. The most notable fact is perhaps that Oberon is wearing chainmail cuirass, not yet seen before and his encounter with one of the most dangerous Daedra creatures - the Spider Daedra.

Afternoon in Cheydinhal

Menace on the hill

Gate to Oblivion

Spider Daedra

Depths of Rielle
SubRosa
Nice Cheydihnal twilight.

Menace on the hill looks so idyllic. Except of course for the menace... on the hill.
Acadian
Nice that Oberon has the extra protection of his nifty new mail armor.

Oblivion Gates really lend themselves to your 'painting' treatment!

I agree about the spider daedra - formidable foes indeed! ohmy.gif
Renee
Wow. Okay, I just figured out what it is about these paintings. They look like comic book art! laugh.gif It's been bugging me for awhile now. They're like drawings we'd see in a comic book.

Can you ask Colla to paint a portrait of Oberon's face? Just his face and upper body, like a portrait painting?
Lopov
@SubRosa - now the hills looks much more idyllic. Because there's no longer the menace... on the hill.

@Acadian - chainmaill cuirass is not just Oberon's but my favorite piece of light armor, I think it looks perfect. At that point his greaves were still unenchanted but he later made them resistant to magic.

@Renee - there's been a portrait of Oberon painted and published, I will re-post it here. That's the best possible portrait until now, there will be more in the future.

The following paintings represent Oberon's return to Bruma, a journey to Pale Pass and finding the Draconian Madstone in Fort Pale Pass.

As nice as these pics are, I can´t help but feel it would be nice to see them unaltered. At least the Bruma pic, that looked a bit non-vanilla... biggrin.gif
Lopov
Bruma is definitely non-vanilla since it's changed by Better Cities. I keep all "originals" in another folder so here they are:

Night Rider

Sorry for making you post the same pics twice, but thanks for doing it biggrin.gif
Renee
Don't apologize Crow. I think it's neat seeing them painted and original, side by side.
Acadian
The Pale Pass questings are great fun and very neat. Oberon looks great and I've been really enjoying following him. The paintings are super cool for novelty and effect, but I confess I liked the 'real' versions even better because of the clearer detail. It's all good though! biggrin.gif
Lopov
I decided to post screenshots as paintings until Oberon finishes the main quest, since they're supposed to represent a series of paintings. Afterwards I'll post regular screenshots. But if anyone'd like to see some painting as a real screenshot, feel free to ask and Lopov may grant your wish. tongue.gif

Original Colla Gius' titles of following paintings have been lost with years so only Oberon's unofficial titles remain.

"Cheers, Namira."

"Flyyyin'...flyyin' in the skyyyy...Brandy flys so high..."

"Don't just stand there, lizard!"

--

And here's one ordinary screenshot, taken when Oberon reached Level 10. It shows his non-painted face and some stats to go along.

SubRosa
Flyyinn So Hiiigh! biggrin.gif
Acadian
Brandy the flying horse!

Nasty Namira, meddlesome priests of Arkay, disgusting Namiric followers . . . what a crew of losers all around there. laugh.gif
Renee
Flyin so high ... yikes, what happened to that poor horse? sad.gif Hope Oberon doesn't make a habit of ravaging it.

I really love the last painting actually that one's my fave this time. It's a moment of action which looks completely staged, like they're all posing for some reason.

Acadian: I know right? laugh.gif

Grits
Just now catching up with the fun here, thanks to a snow day. This ‘historic storm’ will be all right as long as we have wifi! biggrin.gif

Renee, it was funny to see only half of the group had lost their clothing. Miss Gade looks too intent to notice, but the redheaded certainly did!

Did anyone else attempt to move the camera with their mouse for the upskirt picture? Sometimes I know I have a Nord looking over my shoulder! laugh.gif

Those calves are adorable. And acrobatic. So cute!

Was that tower picture the sun about to touch the whatsit for a quest?

I love the pictures with Renee’s whole group on the move. Gade looks heroic striding forth with all of her followers.

Lopov, Menace On the Hill is another painting that I can picture on my wall. Oberon’s horse’s markings lend themselves well to a painterly treatment.

My favorites in the Pale Pass Adventure series are The Old Path, Among the Undead, and The Great Find. The mist looks fantastic in Among the Undead, and the view of Oberon in the last is gorgeous. I love how he looks in his chainmail. The artist caught him at a great moment focused on the treasure.

Oh, how neat to see the originals as well! I’m still a fan of the paintings, but the view of Bruma and the scene with the Countess especially are lovely shots. And of course the last with Oberon looking down is a favorite in both versions. wub.gif

Ugh, that Namira quest. The grey, grainy look of the shrine painting suits the scene well.

Oh my goodness, levitation in Cyrodiil! It must be the horse’s spell. tongue.gif

The weird light and yellow-green colors in “Lizard” give a great sickening feel to Oberon’s moment with the repulsive and the idiot.

Dang, Oberon looks handsome with that mail and katana!
Lopov
Thanks all.

Because of interest in originals I decided to post them alongside Colla Gius' paintings in future posts. Sometimes paintings look better than originals, adding special feel to them but I agree that sometimes they're less detailed, even too blurred at times.
mirocu
I do like the paintings too but as many of them showed a version of Cyrodiil I haven´t seen much of before, I was interested to see the originals.

The paintings do add a level of grandness though biggrin.gif
Renee

Agreed.

Lopov
Not all paintings by Colla Gius' series have a proper title, especially not those that portray various gates of Oblivion all across Cyrodiil.

A gate to Oblivion

A gate to Oblivion

The following ones, however, have a proper title.

Sunrise in the Jeralls

The Lady of Dawn and Dusk

Natural border

Apparently Oberon forbade the following pic to be presented to the public, calling it a monstrosity, but Gius ignored his order.

Knights of the Thorn, also called "The Ugly, the uglier and the ugliest" by Oberon

Arkved's Oasis

Arkved's Retreat

Originals:

SubRosa
Sunrise in the Jeralls is really neat, as is the Lady of Dawn and Dusk.

The Frown, the Frownier, and the Frowniest!
Acadian
The OB gates look very cool in the painting style!

Luv's Azura!

Natural border is a beautiful shot. happy.gif

Creepy tower, that Arkved one. Of course, that's what one would expect from Lady Vaermina.
Renee
This is off-topic, but some of those ads at the top of Shrani.si make me smile. smile.gif

Oblivion gates look rather scary when painted! Sunrise over Jeralls is pretty, and so is the Lady pic.

Ha ha ha he called that red painting a 'monstrosity!' rollinglaugh.gif Yeah, I can kinda see why!
mirocu
Sunrise over the Jeralls is awesome happy.gif
Lopov
Thanks all!

--

Colla Gius wanted to prove Oberon that he can make a decent facial portrait, because the so called Monstrosity from the previous series angered Oberon. So this time he painted the Hero of Kvatch calmly sitting in the Roxey Inn. Supposedly Oberon liked his appearance but wasn't satisfied because there wasn't any ale painted in his hands.

Bruma militia led by Captain Burd, about to enter the first Oblivion gate that opened outside Bruma.

Captain Burd - considered one of the most courageous watch captains during the Oblivion Crisis.

In the Jeralls - it features Oberon (not too quickly) traveling to Sancre Tor.

Sancre Tor - the most important part of this painting are Rune Stones, since Sancre Tor is the only known location where they can be found underground.

Underking's Magic - the shrine of Tiber Septim was protected by powerful magic, preventing anyone to venture further, until Oberon with help from undead Blades lifted the curse.

Armor of Tiber Septim - about to be taken by Oberon.

Chorrol in danger - according to Oberon, he didn't feel any particular sense of danger in Chorrol. The only thing that changed were its residents constantly blabbering about the gate outside but it didn't interrupt daily activities.

Ale Heaven for Ale Lover - dream come true.
Acadian
More very nice pix!

I agree that Captain Burd was one of the most courageous watch captains during the crisis. Second only to Savlian Matius. wub.gif

Love the shot of Oberon astride Brandy as they (slowly) make their way across that bridge.

And a great shot as Oberon is about to enter the tavern!
Renee
I love the alehouse one and Captain Burd! ... I wish I was as motivated as you and SubRosa are to post pics.
SubRosa
The painting of Burd is fantastic, with the blazing fire of the Oblivion gate framing his face.

In the Jeralls really showcases one of my favorite things about Oblivion: the bucolic scenery. It is just a pretty game to look at.

mirocu
Nice new set of paintings there, Lopov smile.gif

Some work better than others but those that work really work!

Quest? Which pic are you asking about?

Yikes, it’s taken me forever to get back here, sorry. I thought the Gotta Stare picture might be “When Tower touches midday sun.”

Lopov, Sunrise in the Jeralls is my favorite of this series. It looks so peaceful.

I have to agree with Oberon, I like his peaceful portrait better than his angry face in Monstrosity. Though I believe his angry face was an understandable response to what he had gone through with the two Knights of the Torn (in his side). tongue.gif

Great depiction of Captain Burd with the fire at his back and the details of his face and cuirass still visible.

The Underking’s magic looks beautiful and mysterious in the painting. I love how Oberon looks taking that armor.

Ale house, or welcome home! biggrin.gif

SubRosa
Joanie looks sad in her striding pic. Maybe because she hasn't met Chachi?

Joanie has neat glowy eyes!

Sunrise is probably my favorite pic though. It shows what I love about Oblivion most: the idyllic landscape.
Acadian
Renee, I continue to really like the 'Xena and Gabrielle' thing you have going! tongue.gif
