Oh!
Get into it! Good show. Good quality. Many known actors, one of them starred in Troy, other in 300 and one even voiced Martin Septim in Oblivion. But the story is good, the action is good, the characters are amazing. Intrigue, comedy and of course, action!
If you like medieval fantasy, this is the show.

Haven't seen it, no.
It did have one hilarious moment with what I can only call the 'Floor-Conveyed Doom Wig', and the moster/ghost itself was kind of goofy looking.

Varying our video diet of American Cops'n'Crooks programs by watching a BBC offering... Hamish MacBeth.
While it has the obligatory "You really ought to come and see (insert region here)" scenery shots, it is also at turns funny and thoughtful. Robert Carlyle (probably known to the non-UK folk here from "The Full Monty") is quite good in the title role as a police constable in a tiny village in Scotland. Finished the first season and there are only 2 more, which gives me hope that it will not fall into the trap that dragged down "Monarch of the Glen." Without going into detail, let's just say that the writer/producers of "Monarch" seemed to have only studied triangles in their TV tropes course.

Yesterday I watched Oceans 11, and today I did Oceans 13. Partly to help get me in the mood to write the next chapter of the TF. Partly just because I adore those movies. I love the sense of family between the gang, especially in 13, where they are doing the entire thing for Reuben. I also just loved how at the very end of Oceans 13 they made it all up to the VUP (Very Unimportant Person). That right there was enough to make the movie for me.

Never got too interested in the new Spartascus seasons but I was still watching them.
Tonight they killed off my top favorite character. One of the main guys who's been in every single season! I knew he was going to die since that's what happened in real life history . . .but damn . . .talk about tear-jerking emotional scene.
The fact that he was stabbed in the back with a spear by some pompous kid adds insult to injury, but hey, war is war! Since he was one of the best fighters in the series, it made sense his death would come through a cheap-shot like that.
RIP CRIXUS!I do love the fact that he is avenged when Spartacus forces 100 captured roman soldiers to fight and kill each other for sport while the army of slaves watch. Somewhat of a bloody poetic justice here.
But damn . . .Crixus

Never felt so attatched to a television character.

Dude, I KNEW it was going to happen. The writer's of the show said they were going to follow history. So the moment Crixus split off from Spartacus, I was like this is it. He's going to die.
But his death is easily the best death in the series. The fact that they didn't dehumanize the way he died, though it was still decapitation. We don't see it clelarly, but they show it through his lover's eyes.

There was a big battle! Manu Bennet delivered!
It was tragic but I still liked how they handled it.
Gannicus is good, but we know who wins here if they faced off

Hehe, Caesar got the dropped soap treatement and had a visit from Tiberious. Easily one of the most shocking scenes.

Oh yeah, it was fun, but I saw the supposedly 'mind blowing' ending coming by the first quarter of the film and it was kind of grating to have Christopher Nolan basically yelling in my face "Isn't this deep and complex? Isn't your mind blown by how incredibly intelligent and mind blowing this is? It's so deep isn't it? Isn't it? Have your mind been blown yet? I've blown you, haven't I?"

I just watched
The Awakening. It is a wonderful little ghost story set in post WWI England. It is very low key, and has some nice twists and turns. A delightful movie all around. One thing I really loved was that it was shot at Pemberly! Well,
Lyme Park, but for all us fans of the 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries,
this house will always be Pemberly.Ah, the first glimpse of Pemberly through the trees. The horse's clopping feet slows to a stop...
And then minutes later: A (still young) Colin Firth climbs out of that lake in a wet shirt...

Did the thought of a young Colin Firth in a wet shirt break your concentration? ROFL !!! My favorite role for him will ALWAYS be "Valmont" - long hair in a pony tail, so smoothly manipulative with the ladies.

I’m having a hard time thinking about ANYTHING but the wet shirt!

QUOTE(Kiln @ Mar 26 2013, 03:01 PM)

Because?
So many scenes in
Olympus Has Fallen were identifiable from other TV shows and movies that it was distracting. I mean the screen was full of actors I like doing their job well, but it still seemed like a parody. As if someone had taken pages from screenplays and changed the names as a prank, but then someone else didn’t get the joke and actually made the movie.
The other big problem for me was that the plot hinged on every person in the movie except the hero and the kid being incompetent. That was the other part that I found insulting. The Secretary of Defense had one good line, but other than that it seemed that whoever wrote the movie had never met anyone who held a position of authority. I mean in scene after scene featuring supposed government leaders I kept thinking, the secretary of our PTA has bigger balls than that.
The last thing, and this is picky but it was bad enough to mention, the music was overdone. It was one of those scores that assumes the viewer can’t recognize a moment happening so they need intrusive music to tell them: This is a sad part. This is a tense part. This is a part where people are running.
Also they missed a real opportunity in the plot. There was one very obvious way for the bad guys to win quite early in the movie. They had all the information they needed, and the hero even seemed to anticipate that they might do it. But then they didn’t and it was never mentioned again. But I guess that falls under my Everyone But The Hero Is An Idiot complaint.
Anyway it was still entertaining. The actors were fun to watch, Gerard Butler is a hottie, and I could listen to Morgan Freeman all day. But I still would rather have watched something else.
