What really, REALLY sucks is I'm an easy crier. Even if the acting isn't that good, if an emotional moment comes up in a movie, show, or even -sigh- a commercial, I get teary-eyed.

I hate it.

I'm also a sympathetic crier. If someone starts crying, I start to cry.

It is a mock up of those "Bachelor" shows. The bachelor is standing there waiting to meet the women, the first is pretty perfect. The second comes out and draws a blank on what she had "rehearsed" to say, so she walks away from him. One says the mansion looks beautiful and warm, so when he says it is heated she says "GOOD!" and walks away from him. One girl is blind, wants to "feel his face" to "see" what he looks like. As soon as her hand hits his face she says, "Yikes! You've got a huge nose!" One was a man dressed as a woman that tried to shove a hot dog in his mouth; one was an 84 year old woman.

He had to reject 5 women, one of them is driving away and says to the camera, "I don't want to die alone...turn around, driver! DRIVER! I guess this is it then..."

I have a very bad stomach ache and was choking laughing anyway, lol.

One woman yanked her skirt off (they blurred the film so you couldn't see anything). Another came in a panda costume and said she wanted him to pick her by her personality, not her looks. Another came nude except for a big board that said "Pick me" (you couldn't see anything). It was hilarious!

I never liked those bachelor shows, (well, unless someone was having a meltdown - like that old female gyno that said her biological timeclock was about to go belly up, and that her eggs were dried up, to dump the other 25 girls and pick her right now so they could get started). But the crap you have to wade through to see one hilarious scene like that - wasn't worth it.

I think one season they had a nut that made it pretty far in, I was beginning to wonder if she would start poisoning the other women by the time the bachelor finally started seeing something "amiss" about her, lol.

I'll admit that it doesn't take much to make me want to beat somebody with a pool ball in a sock, but it's the urge rises so quickly I'd almost be a little frightened by it if I weren't already a deranged sociopath. Try two balls in the sock, that eases the stress twice as quickly. I prefer quarters in a sock, so when I'm done beating I can stop by the store and pick up a soda.

I have been watching Space: Above and Beyond, and loving it.

It was hard to get into at first, because the characters are all members of the U.S. Marine Corps, and the show does a horrible job at portraying the military. The most glaring of which is that the characters are fighter pilots. No, they are infantry. No, they are... whatever the producers feel like at the moment. Or how an aircraft carrier is being commanded by a Marine with a rank of Commodore... It would be a lot easier to accept if they belonged to a fictional organization, like Starfleet in the Star Trek universe, or were Jedi Knights, etc... But by going out of there way to portray them as members of a RL military force, right down to the uniforms, it really sticks out when they make such basic foobars.

But if you can get beyond that, and just pretend that they are not really U.S. Marines, it really is a fantastic show. The first few episodes are your basic "lets get a feel for this show" types you always get with a new series. But where some really good shows take an entire season to get those out of their way, SAB gets it done in just a few. After that the storytelling is really outstanding. The characters are interesting and given depth. It is really excellent sci-fi.

I just watched The Awakening. It is a wonderful little ghost story set in post WWI England. It is very low key, and has some nice twists and turns. A delightful movie all around. One thing I really loved was that it was shot at Pemberly! Well, Lyme Park, but for all us fans of the 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries, this house will always be Pemberly.

Yesterday I watched Secrets of the Viking Sword. Very cool. I thought it was going to be about Viking Era swords in general. But instead it is about a special class of sword called the Ulfbherts, due to that name being inlaid upon their blades. Turns out the steel in these swords were remarkably free of impurities, especially when compared to other swords of the time. They were basically super-weapons, like a jet engine fighter in WWI. A modern swordsmith recreates one from scratch, how they were done a thousand years ago, and it is really cool to see him do it. Anyone interested in swords and how they are made will like this.

Well, I'm in the middle of Season 3 of my re-watch of the greatest political show of my younger self's time:

The West Wing. I would put Josiah Bartlet in charge of America, and the world, any day of the week (for a few more years, at least).

On the other hand, I can't help but think that eventually one of Jed's grandkids will eventually be the ancestor of some jerk-@$$ named Jack Harper 150 years from now. It'll be like an evil Jed Bartlet. But with aliens. And a shadow network secret-society-type thing.

Forgot to mention going to see that new Oz film...Oz The Great and Powerful was it?...Summat like that...It wasn't awful, but I did find myself wanting to watch the old one again...

Michelle Williams is very very pretty in it though... biggrin.gif ...Oh, and Mila Kunis pre-greening...*Sighs*... laugh.gif ...

And then on sunday we went to see Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters...It was excellent!!...So funny and such a brilliantly different take on the fantasy thing...It looks all middle-ages, middle european but most of the characters are American accented, except - of course - the main baddie, who's Famke Jansen with a brit accent...Which is ironic as Gretel, Gemma Arterton (very very pretty) is British...But hey-ho...

The weaponry was pretty funky too...*Applauds film*...I really enjoyed it anyways... biggrin.gif ...

Long weekend, yes it was... biggrin.gif ...

No one here watches Game of Thrones?

Me!! Really looking forward to it. smile.gif

I feel like I should watch it while it's relevant. I have the same feeling on lots of television shows, but I'm not much for TV.
