Does anyone remember that Christian Dior perfume Poison? I just found a bottle packed away with some college stuff. Now I smell like the 80s. Hmm, where did I put those thigh boots and shoulder pads?

Knock on wood, and I'm not out of the woods just yet, but it looks as if the worst is over weather wise in my immediate vicinity. What I hope was our last severe storm threat missed us circa five miles to the east, heading northeast. Bad snows were comfortably west. Devastating tornadoes either petered out south of us or move off to the east. Heavy rains, predicted to be our biggest risk, ended up being slightly less heavy than expected, Areas to the west, south and north weren't so lucky. I always worry over heavy rains as my decrepit home is very low to the ground and drainage isn't the best. Man am I glad I had the roof repaired and reshingled a few months ago! It should all be over by midday, though I might postpone my errand run until tomorrow. We shall see.

So, after reading Stephen King's On Writing, I kinda got grabbed by a pretty odd idea for a short story, so I've been working a little on that. Only two pages so far, but it's a side-project that I only started yesterday. *shrugs*

Tokyo's crazy in the sense that the fees here are too damn high, compared to my native Osaka. In the day, the people here are sooooo damn polite and courteous, they'll give you dry skin. Seriously. They're downright imperious in manner, at least IMO.
But when the day sets and the moon rises.... Hooooooo boy. I'll post later but rest assured, I have some tales to tell my Chorrol siblings.

In all honesty, Kabukichou's pretty rad and the nightlife there, while shady as mentioned before, hangs with the night life of Shibuya. Only, instead of the usual normal clubbers you get sexed up girls and their Peemps trying to hook you up. Seriously. They straight out walk to you and say, in surprisingly good English, "do you want sex? Sex with bootiful gyaru?"
Me and the boys were like, "Lolwhut."
One notable case was when were on our way home. I was walking behind a senior of mine when a guy walked up to him and actually greeted him in TAGALOG!!!!! OUR OWN DAMN LANGUAGE!!! Not English, not Japanese, but in Tagalog!!! Curious we stopped, hoping against hope that this guy would actually be different from the riffraff we had to contend with earlier.

Went for a walk in the woods today. Saw lots of deer tracks and what I first almost thought were bear tracks, but as it turned out it was moose. The tracks weren´t so clear and almost looked like paws first, and since those tracks followed the deer tracks I assumed bear first.

Wow, I remembered to figure out and mail in my state internet purchase tax-due for the month of December this morning!
If you don't mind me saying so, our state has a rather convoluted means of collecting said tax. Unlike some states it does not demand that online merchants automatically add such tax at the time of checkout. No merchant I deal with does so (for our state). Instead, we must print out a online form, look up state, county and city tax rates, fill out the form, do the math, and snail mail the results to the state. Making things more screwy, we are told to do so by amount owed. If over a certain amount, it should be submitted monthly. If over a lesser amount, quarterly. If under a small amount, yearly. How in the world is a private citizen supposed to keep track of all that, when, as in my case, I tend to make small online purchases at whim??? I just pay my due monthly regardless (assuming I make an online purchase). Better than forgetting, as I can too easily do. I've gotten no complaints so far. I sometimes suspect that when my meager checks arrive ($2.46 this month) the tax clerk prolly says, "Holy crap, someone actually pays this stuff!". LOL

Lining up repairs right now. I've got all the quotes in and contractors lined up except for the gutter repair/replace and the retaining wall - have no idea how much those will cost; but have the plans and am having several different companies quote how much they will charge for it. The first company meets me on Wednesday.
All repairs begin in 2-3 weeks depending on when the home equity loan closes, so hoping this good weather continues. I've picked out the refrigerator and going to pay for it tomorrow; but it won't be delivered till the repairs are done. It is very pretty, a black 26 cu. ft. Samsung side by side (didn't want the French door one).
I have been planning out the front landscaping changes - really wanting to get rid of all that fencing and rails in the front and make one deck entry without all the wood rails everywhere so there is a clean view of the house (would have to extend the deck several feet in two directions to do that).
Next: Don't like the lattice that is there, want to replace it with new framed lattice with the frame border a different color (as in something like this) :
And also want to cut out all that other framing there so it is just open other than the three section privacy lattice shown above. The lattice will give any privacy needed, but keeping it open will show more of the house.
Plus - I always planned to have the shutters and trim painted a better color, but truthfully - would also really like to paint the whole house about 3 shades lighter if at all possible; and go with more color on the trim. Most def changing the colors of those shingles on the roof when they replace them.
Lastly (when all repairs are done) - going to add flowering plants and bushes to the window boxes and in a few places around the front; add a small table and chairs on that front porch behind the lattice to enjoy the morning sun there.
I've made pictures of the house as it looked when we bought it (the ones I posted on here) - when it is done will post the changes, and hope I can get some of my ideas done for the money we will be getting in the equity loan.
Sounds like there are things left to do then. Better get to it...!

I just hope it doesn't cost more than we have to spend fixing it up.
