I'm listening to Modest Mouse as I'm posting this! The music is... kinda odd. You'd have to listen to it to see what style it is - sorta depressing and a mix of fast and slow. here's a few links to some of their songs that I'm pretty fond of:

On my quest to find more metal bands that are actually awesome, I decided to try motorhead. One of the best choices of my life, alongside trying bacon with pancakes. Gotta love classics like overkill, and of course there's the game (triple H's entrance music for you pro-wrestling fans).

I listen to these types of songs when I either workout or jog or go dance around. The mark at 3:00 was enough to push through a few extra painful reps(Insert jerk comment here). I'm young, so I like these types of songs.

Currently listening to TEARS, by the band Health, off the Max Payne 3 soundtrack; not only is it an excellent track in general (and an excellent soundtrack) but it's great for writing combat scenes to as well.
