BESTie - I need you

Title sums up what I feel about this group..

When you say "this group", do you mean BESTie or is here at Chorrol?

BESTie, but I guess the same can be said about my fellow lunatics...! laugh.gif

haute made me do it.

Wheels on Fire

Even older than the Fleetwood Mac one - that's genuine black and white!

Found myself in the mood for Haydn's "Gypsy Rondo" (also called Hungarian Rondo), the final movement of one of his piano trios. Listened to one (of the entire work) that did nothing for me. Then I found this filmed performance of the Rondo alone, which I like very very much.

I also found what is, as of now, my favorite interpretation of a work linked, as a different performance, not long ago, Liszt's "Dance of the Gnomes." This time it's a 1925 recording of Sergei Rachmaninoff, one of the acknowledged great composers and pianists.

An ole classic - AND I BLAME ACADIAN FOR THIS ONE!! laugh.gif

That was Maxical with Buffy!

Yes, we had another version with just Maxical and Buffy but it is no longer on You Tube. kvright.gif

Listened to a videoed concert performance of Rimsky-Korasakov's Schecherazade the other day that includes a rather "interesting" take on final movement. I'll set the link to begin with that movement, though the bit that causes me to single it out doesn't begin until partway into the piece. (It seems to be a well recorded performance to the limited extent my now decrepit hearing can determine such things.) This is one of those works that, if I'm in the right mood, can make my eyes mist, as happens here at isolated spots.

Favorite songs (in no particular order):
Cartouche
Circle

World of Stone
Way to Mandalay
Crystal Ball
Home Again
Shadow of the Moon
Fires at Midnight

They did a really good version of Greensleaves too

Meatloaf will always be the king for me.....however we in Melbourne still remember his horrible out of key performance at the AFL grand final a few years back. Oh dear it was bad....

verysad.gif I saw him do an interview recently, and he could barely even talk, his voice was really bad. He may have damaged his vocal chords at some point; or something. His neck in front looked like a very aged turkey's; and it really made me sad to think of him getting old = was not expecting that.

(Still in severe trauma after seeing Axl Rose's recent photo shots) verysad.gif

A while ago, Khajiit started liking this band that would come on sometimes while he listened to Nightwish Radio on Pandora. It’s kind of weird because their style has elements that this one doesn’t usually like, namely a somewhat “popish” sounding female lead vocalist and heavy synth use (generally prefer a more symphonic sound), but somehow this band manages to blend them with their music so well that the tunes are just cool. The band is called The Birthday Massacre. Here are a few tracks that this one likes to give you an idea of what they are like.

Blue

Red Stars

Pins and Needles

Kill the Lights

Shallow Grave

Promise Me

Sleepwalking

Mendelsshon's Piano Concerto No.1, a piece that provides a heck of a lot of virtuosic fun, heard here in a "take no prisoners" performance with young Yugi Wang as soloist.

And no, I wasn't there, sadly. I saw the documentary about her and she seems like such a sweet girl. Wish I could see her irl one day.

The HP Lovecraft Historical Society is offering up their latest episode of Dark Adventure Radio Theater for free. That's right, for free! So sign up and download The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar. It's even set in Detroit! Well sort of. You will see.

These radio shows a lot more fun than I ever imagined they would be, and this is a great way for someone who has never listened to them to give it a try.

Eluveitie- Catvrix
Caturix (they spelled it with a ‘v’ replacing the ‘u’ in the song title), was a war god of a tribe of Celts from Continental Europe. The song is appropriately warlike.

I was in a bit of an ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) mood last week, a very underrated band from back in the day. Some of the best ones:

It's Over
Mr. Blue Sky (one of their most well-known songs)
Don't Bring Me Down
Strange Magic
Turn To Stone
Evil Woman
Sweet Talkin' Woman

Also, Depeche Mode pops into my head every so often, but I only recently (as far as I remember) discovered I Feel You. Very catchy song.
