Recently came across a nifty filmed concert performance of orchestral selections from the last of Richard Wagner's four Ring Cycle operas, "Gotterdammerung" (sometimes translated as Twilight of the Gods) played by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (Galicia (Symphony Orchestra?) led by Josep Pons. Good video work with proper section and player highlighting as needed. Quite decent sound too, to the limited extent I'm able to judge that these days. My one knock with this performance is that there's a section of music following Siegfried's Funeral Music where Brunhilde's important vocal line is left out, but no instruments substituted (as others have done in this situation) in its place. Those not overly familiar with Gotterdammerung possibly won't realize anything's missing, but it leaves me a bit frustrated. (I get over it.)

(For those interested in hearing what that section sounds like with the vocal line in place, here's a video clip from a documentary on the making of Solti's groundbreaking Ring Cycle recording from the long ago dawn of the stereo era, sung by a lady many consider one of the best, if not THE best, Brunhilde of all time, Birgit Nilsson. Sound isn't the best here, this being a TV network's recording rather than taken from the master tapes. But it's plenty good enough.)

Also heard, an audio-only rendition of Beethoven's seventh symphony by the Bavarian State Orchestra under Carlos Kleiber. The seventh was something of a signature work for Kleiber to conduct. I've long owned and liked his DG studio recording; first on LP, then CD. I like this live recording even better. Very fine work. I especially enjoy the woodwinds throughout.

And of course Rooster led me off to Atomic Rooster - an interesting band which seemed to change personnel almost weekly. David Gilmour, Ginger Baker, Carl Palmer, and Chris Farlowe were all friends of Vincent Crane and played as part of the band at various times. Ric Parnell (Spinal Tap) also played with them. All the original members are now dead, but it still exists.

They were almost another John Mayall's Bluesbreakers - in a different genre.

They've come to snuff the Khajiit Rooster...

I've been listening to a lot of Alice in Chains lately, but yesterday was the first time I had listened to Angry Chair. I was definitely missing out on that one. I'll have to give the whole Dirt album a listen, since every song I've heard from it has been good to excellent. Down in a Hole, Rooster, Angry Chair, Would?, and especially Them Bones.

My top 3 are A Looking in View, Hollow, and Them Bones. I Stay Away is somewhere right behind that, either 4 or 5. But yeah, plenty of good songs by them.

Because Khajiit adores the sound of the pipe organ, he has two pieces to share:

On one of my increasingly infrequent YouTube music listening sessions I chanced on something akin to a master class with Benjamin Zander instructing a string quarter on playing the opening movement of Beethoven's Quartet No.11 Op.95 ("Serioso") at B's designated tempo marking. The group first plays it at today's standard slower speed, then at B's. Boy does it come alive at the faster tempo!!!!!!! The difference is almost magical. (Zander is a rather exuberant instructor.)

Blackmore’s Night has a ton of great songs. The one you mentioned is definitely a favorite of Khajiit’s! goodjob.gif

Heard this song earlier on Pandora:
In This Moment- Forever
Ever since Khajiit first heard it some years ago, this one has thought it is a beautiful song.
