During lunch yesterday I listened to disc three of Ronald Brautigam's complete Beethoven piano sonata SACD set. It contains sonatas no.8-11 in chronological order. No.8 is the "Pathetique", the earliest of B's piano sonatas so popular (in classical music circles) that most pianist capable of doing so make it a repertoire staple, assuming they are at all interested in Beethoven that is.
Here's its lovely slow second movement.
The disc concludes with no.11, op.22, I work I knew not at all until acquiring the Brautigam set. It quickly became a favorite, especially its exhilarating opening movement.
Here's a fine audio-only interpretation of the piece by Maurizio Pollini.

The nice thing about having Decrepit here is that he brings plenty of class to the place.

The only classical music I listen to is the one and true master.
