20200430 Archeology Guild meeting & shopping
You could see the top of the spires of the Crementine Temple from the hill top just north of Sage Glen Hollow. Really wanted to visit the White Wing since we were so close but with Vilja and the wolf it might be best to travel straight to Skingrad.

So up the Yellow Road we go, taking the Ring Road west toward Skingrad. Crossing the great bridge we pause a moment to take in the view of the Imperial City. The mountains in the background are stunning.

At the end of the bridge near Fort Alessia is the excavation site. We stop for a moment to find out how Tumyr is doing. The fossil excavation is progressing at slow but steady pace.

It was nearing dinnertime when we reach the Archeology Guild Hall. During dinner Sova, Norlene, Aster Cei, Domitian Verus, and the apprentices were excited to hear about how we uncovered the Ayleid teleport system in Valenwood.

Later in a meeting of the ranking Archeology Guild members, it was decided that if I would map out the teleport system (advance team muscle was the reason I was allowed to join the Archeology Guild in the first place) the Guild would send an excavation team when one comes available. That might be awhile since the Guild’s limited resources are still busy with all the spires we uncovered. So there is no rush to get it done.

(I dream of making a Lost Spires patch to give the NPCs a daily schedule to eat, sleep, and tend their stations instead of them just standing around like Morrowind vendors.)

The next morning after the morning cleansing ritual we cast Teleport Home spell to travel to our house, Rosethorn Hall in Skingrad. Eyja is happy to see us and whips up something to eat.

Then it’s off to the shops. The Sage Glen Hollow/Zrenk haul included 11 Mage/Conjurer Robes, 3 Arch-Mage Robes, 1 Astral Lord Robe, 5 Daedric Robes, 4 Guardian of Oblivion Robes, 1 Plane Summoner Robe, 1 Lesser Chameleon Robe, 3 Master Conjurer Cloaks, 1 Mythic Dawn Assassin Robe, 2 Dwemer Cuirass, 1 Elven Cuirass, 2 Clannfear Claws, 3 Corprus Weepings, 3 Golem Hearts (Ebony, Gold, Water), 1 Ghoul Heart, and 1 Ghoul Tongue.

What a shopping day it was, we racked in over 17,000 septims. Well it’s back to Rosethorn Hall for a dinner and a good night’s rest.

A satisfying return and report to the Archeology Guild. Then a well-deserved trip home and a fun time turning the recent loot haul into gold. smile.gif

Though I never tried it, the Archeology Guild mod sounds fun.
macole
The Ayleid Steps is a very good quest mod. It's in my top ten mod list. Years ago I added The Lost Spires to my game just for the Archeology Guild Hall. Never really did anything with it, just enough to be accepted as guild member. I didn't know what to expect as Jandaga explored the different spires. Turns out it is more than just a dungeon dive. Many of the mysteries Jandaga uncovered blended into his story so easily it almost felt like the mod was made just for him.
Renee
Yes that does sound neat. Fossil excavations. Ayleid fast-travel to Valenwood. One of these days I'll try Lost Spires. I've been hearing about it for ages.

Shopping days are sometimes really fun, right? wub.gif I guess it depends on the character. Some of mine get grumpy about them, especially if one of them is trying to locate some items (like Fortify Speech potions) which are hard-to-find, but needed to finish some meager quest. Usually the sort of person who's not very good at persuading is the sort of person who'd rather not speak to some uppity, hard-to-convince NPC anyway. mad.gif

Ahem. Mostly though, shopping days are fun. Especially in Oblivion.

As we last saw, Kahreem (aka 'the Redguard') managed to steal a horse, after playing a child's game selecting one out of three steeds. He chose an Imperial Legion horse. At the time, it had been raining for about a half-hour, and this caused everyone, all the vineyard workers, even the guards, to go back into Skingrad. Everyone goes inside except poor Tilmo, the stablehand. sad.gif

"Somebody 'elp! Come quickly! We've got a burg-u-lar!!!"

The Redguard goes rigid. "Hey, this isn't your horse. What do you care?"

But it's no use arguing. Time to roam! The Redguard knows he's got only a few smidgeons before one of the guards burst from the gates of Skingrad! .. Tilmo himself puts up a good run. Chases the Redguard for as long as he can, suddenly devoted to what amounts to a soldier's task. But he quickly falls behind. By the time the Redguard slows and turns a one-eighty, he's passing by that odd area, where tomatoes of an actual vintage can be harvested. Tilmo the stablehand is nowhere to be seen.

Not that this is any sort of long-term consolation.

"STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM."

"Ahhh no." The horse-thief palms his face.

"Nobody breaks the law on MY watch!"

"Nobody does? Are you sure?"

"I'm taking your stolen goods. Now it's off ta jail with ya!"

"See, that all depends on logics, sister. Because if you do your maths, read, maths, you'd find it unlogical that all your comments so far have any ring of truth to them. We can't have hundreds of people hunting, you know."

The guard blinks.

"Your first claim: 'nobody breaks the law on my watch.' Well that's a fallacy, sir. An un-truth. For I am about to do so. Break the law on your watch, that is."

The guard glowers.

"Your second claim, that you'll 'take my stolen goods.' You've got a couple problems there, sir. Especially since Imperial provisions require you to dismount your horse, while I'll be able to scoot right away at full gallop."

That's the last straw, of course. Completely angered now, the guard roars: "They PAY with your blood, thief!"

Again, the Redguard accelerates his new horse, much faster than any guard bogged down with shiny armor can handle. Derelict Mine rushes by. His steed clops up the hill. Banks sharply left. White Gold Tower pops into view for a moment, but then is obscured by trees. An Ayleld well appears to his right.

But there's also a bear now, straight ahead.

Over the past few months, as the Oblivion Crisis continued, ghastly gates had been springing up everywhere. This had caused a lot of wildlife normally hidden by forests to expand out of their natural boundaries. Which had caused this wildlife to do a lot of strange, unnatural things; like stray far from their dens, and wind up blocking 'safe' areas like roads and pastures. Bottom line: The Redguard has a choice now, to continue toward the Great Forest, causing the bear to give chase, or turn around, luring the bear with him. Back toward the guard.

He lures the bear back to the guard! But not the same guard.

IPB Image

"STOP!" yells an Imperial Legion Soldier. A different man than initially seen.

The Redguard rides around in confusing circles, trying to get the soldier and bear to attack one another. But apparently, these two opponents had formed some sort of pact. Maybe the guard had fed the scruffy, oversized creature a piece of venison earlier that morning, befriending it. Maybe the guard had somehow raised this bear himself, somewhere behind the safety of Skingrad's walls.

Eventually, the Redguard's horse begins to tire. He finds a large boulder to jump it upon, where neither the guard nor the bear can reach. The horse's hooves scramble for traction at first, but eventually the Redguard finds a spot where it can safely climb.

"Fokke!"

Despite all this, neither opponent attacks the other. They merely stand below. The guard, swinging his expensive silver sword, the bear, swatting its brown paws. Both are enraged. They can't reach the Redguard on his stolen horse! But they also ... do not attack each other.

"What'd you do? Feed it some venison? Venisons can be hard to catch in these woods, I understand." The Redguard calmly lights his torch.

"You'll PAY FOR THIS!" shouts the guard from below, completely enraged.

"You really think so? Are you quite, logically sure about that?"

The Redguard reaches into his nightsack, and uncorks a bottle of Cheap Wine. The rain? It continues to fall.

I just love this rollinglaugh.gif

A classic Kahreem episode! We have a stolen horse, some cheap wine and even an alliance between a guard and a bear! What more could you want?

Oh, yeah; rain biggrin.gif

What the Crow said. ^

The madcap misadventures of the Weet Bandit. Clever to lure the bear back to the Legion Rider. How could Kahreem possibly know that the bear was in league with the Legion? Well, we'll see if Kahreem and his cheap wine or the angry duo on the ground have more patience. Let's just hope the Legion Rider doesn't send the bear off to get archer reinforcements. ohmy.gif tongue.gif

Oh for a swig of cheap wine and a fast horse. Boonesfarm or Ripple, don't matter. Great fun reading.

20200503 Vilja-A Melting Heart, I-SL Mortals & Daedra
After the morning ritual and a good breakfast Vilja now that her shopping urge has been satisfied wants to find the Breton’s girlfriend.

We found Briscilla Baurard staying at Two Sisters Lodge. Briscilla, though saddened upon hearing the fate of Carleon Corneir it became evident that she wasn’t the girlfriend Carleon thought she was. Briscilla was indeed intending to return the ring to Carleon.

That made it easy for her to give us the ring when it was explained that the ring rightfully belonged to Terje. Now all we have to do is return Terje his wedding ring and pay for the wolf.

We packed our bags and left for Anvil.

As we approached Kvatch we remembered (actually Pym grabbed my arm and with a stern look pointed north) we needed to deliver a cure potion to Leshruzay, a Xivilai that suffered from Order Taint. Pym is right, Llendarion’s farmhouse located near Shetcombe Farm is not too far out of the way and we should deliver the potion as soon as possible.

Llendarion and Leshruzay were glad to see us arrive with a cure for Leshruzay’s affliction. I was expecting a lot of grief over taking so long but they seemed to be very understanding.

Finding Leshruzay downstairs we gave her the potion and instructed her to, “Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em all up.”

Lesh gave me a "Do what?" look but the big Xivilai drank the bitter brew in one big gulp. Then she listened intently as we read her the behavior modification instructions. Even though she didn’t understand why the need for the behavior modifications, she resolved to follow them to the letter.

To show her gratitude Leshrazay gave me a Void Amulet. Asking her if she’d consider joining the Stranded Light, Leshrazay declined the offer. She explained that she’d rather stay here with her Llendarion than get involved in some worldly cause.

That’s fine. We spent some time chatting about Leshrazay’s paintings before taking our leave. Wishing the two of them well we left for Anvil.

Llendarion and Leshruzay, there's one odd couple for you.

Now that that’s done it didn’t take Vilja long before she’s going on and on about going to Anvil to see Terje about the wolf.

Oh well, there’s still enough time in the day that we could reach Anvil by mid-night if we get a move on.
Acadian
Haha, I figured Vilja would let you know she was not happy dawdling for a side trip while doing one of her quests.

Wow, Leshruzay looks like she could rather put out some hurt.

And on to Anvil!

Love her or hate her, that's the way Vilja is.

If there is one detraction for Integration - The Stranded Light it would have to be the faces. They definitely are not pretty. OCOv2 does help but the faces were so bad to begin with it still takes some getting used to.

20200506 Vilja-A Melting Heart, Gweden, a lecture
It was late when we arrived at Benirus Manor. Elenya was more than a little angry at me for leaving her behind, while I skip-dee-doo-dahed my way through the Valenwood Islands, Valenwood, and Southern Elswyer. I spent the night at the Mages Guild where it was safe.

Early in the morning we went searching for Terje. Found him at the Flowing Bowl. Terje was so glad to get his wedding ring back he gave us the wolf for free. Of course Vilja now wants to go straight away to Bruma.

Since we’re so close let’s stop by and see how Gweden Farm is doing. Tsarrina wants more room, an addition to the basement. We head back to Anvil to make arrangements. We find Newheim the Portly to do the job.

The basement addition taken care of we walk along the wharf toward the lighthouse. A new inn has opened up at the end of the wharf, the Black Flag Tavern (BetterCities). Well, you know how it goes; stop in for a couple drinks and end up spending the night.

The tavern wrench, Melisar Casta strikes up a conversation which leads to her admitting her admiration of a rumored all-female gang operating in the area. When I told her that we took care of Signy and Faustina, Melisar jumped up off my lap shouting about lack of equal opportunities. She stormed off in a huff mumbling something about starting her own gang. Best of luck and don’t let me catch you, was all I could say.

It was a dreary morning when we left the Black Flag Tavern and began our journey to Bruma. The day didn’t get any better as we walked along in silence. Soon I was deep in thought over the success or lack thereof of my quest. Life as the Champion of Cyrodiil just wasn't what I expected. Everyone is still sending me on fetch quests. I was feeling a bit melancholy when our path took us within sight of Lord Drad’s Estate.

Reminded of Malacath’s quest I mumbled aloud to myself, “Why should I concern myself with freeing Ogres?”

“You are the JaanDaga, Life’s Dagger, the dagger who protects the life of the Kin”, Maeva lectured.

The formal pronunciation struck me like a slap in the face. “But Ogres are not my kin! My family is lost.”

“Tlaloc Hopopchaac, The Lighter of the Heavens shares his light with all who walk beneath the stars.” Maeva continued with her lecturing.

“But I’m not…”

“And never will be if you don’t get it together!” Kaleah put her foot down and that was that. Looking down at the talons protruding from her Blacksilverlight boots Kaleah finished with, “See what you made me do!”

Spent the rest of the night repairing arms and armor.

Good lord. If that's what she does when Jandaga leaves her behind, I'd hate to see what happens if he leaves the seat up. indifferent.gif Oh wait..

Nice, so your Gweden Farm is functional post-quest? Very nice.

Ha ha are you making fun of the Better Cities quest-railroading syndrome? Has happened to mine a few times...

Thanks you all.... the Weet Bandit lives on. I promise I'll try to get him closer to the Waterfront next update. emot-ninja1.gif

I think my mod is in use here.
Acadian
Macole, I imagine that sometimes your Champion of Cyrodiil wishes that he adventured solo. wink.gif

Though I didn't use it, I remember that ghastley was quite active with his Gweden Farm mod. His character Clark told us quite a bit about it in his fanfic story.
macole
Renee & ghastly: Yep it’s Gweden Brothel. With the increased Imperial Legion traffic we’re going to have to repave the road soon.
Acadian: Sometimes I think of changing his name to Lackey; The Eternal Lackey, The Lackey of Daggerfall, The Lackeyvarine, Lackey of Cyrodill, and latest Lackeyborne.

A little background in case you haven’t figured it out yet.
A hint: the first line in my posts contains the date I filed it and a brief description of the featured mods that I think most important. Hopefully this will aid me in remembering my adventure years from now.

The adventure originally started in October 2017 was to be a simple play through of a few quest mods that I always load but have never completed has turned out to be a great adventure. The Jandaga has learnt a great deal about himself while I have learned I may not complete the task.

So the progress so far is;
1. Adense_Epic_Dungeon: complete - Daedra Princeses Vaermina and Malacath at war plus a great dungeon romp what more can you ask for. In the end Vaermina expresses her amazement that a mortal such as I was able to survive. A hint that Jandaga really is more than what he appears.
2. thelostspiresvv1.4: complete - A lost deity, a strange race of ethereal warlocks, and a murder mystery all rolled up in one. The Lost Spires takes us to the lost shrine of the goddess Luminai. Jandaga believes the shrine is older than the Ayleids. Could Luminai be an abandoned faerie goddess adopted by the Ayleids? The evil warlocks, could be a sylphim race of priests dedicated to serving Luminai. Without Luminai’s presence the warlocks became corrupted by the Twisted Evil. With the defeat of the twisted evil Jandaga takes Luminai as his Sylphim goddess, even though in her weakened state she fled from the final battle.
3. HentaiMania2: complete – Dungeon after dungeon of Eastern warrior women, giant monohorned orcs, bloody succubae, demon lords, beautiful winged fallen angels, and the White Wing a mysterious artifact of great power coveted by all. Is this fantasy heaven? Well almost, there are a few minor annoyances. In the end the Jandaga suspects that Lilia the White Wing is a child of the Sygriad. Could she really be one of the godlike faeries mentioned in the book The Faerie? Will she grow to command a host of Sylphim? To give her every opportunity to do so the Jandaga and his Ladies lay down their arms and pledge their service and protection.
4. Cave_of_Wishcraft: complete: - A fun little quest. This shorty is more in-line with what I think Sheo is all about rather than what the SI expansion is.
5. Vampire Hunting – Order of the Virtuous Blood – completed Kendrel’s quest. Recruited patrons. Gone to Morrowind. Cleared a couple vampire clans.
6. Rumple – deliver schnapps to Norasa, Claudia got her bear
7. GwedenBrothel: recruited Virgilia, Darwen, Selena, Maeva the Buxom; expanded farmhouse basement
8. The Ayleid Steps – discovered the hidden room, turned on the step grid
9. Kvatch_Rebuilt – stuck at getting workers from Skingrad
10. Midas_Magic_Spells_Of_Aurum:
11. Valenwood Islands: complete – Completed the Wild Side ending. Came home with a fantastic houseboat and a nasty vampire bug. There are multiple endings for replay value.
12. Valenwood Improved – explored NW shore, central road south, to Haven, Discovered an Ayleid transportation system
13. Elsweyr Anequina: explored the land, but there are things yet to do.

Hehe, It's like in RL; go to a bar have a drink have another start talking to everyone you know and don't know, karaoke starts so you have to sing, and then pretty soon you're left sitting there staring at the Arena poster (Posters Diversified mod). Might as well rent a room and call it a day

20200511 Lord Drad
In the morning with Kaleah prancing around in her repaired and freshly burnished Dark Silverlight solerets we went knocking on Lord Drad’s door.

Talking to Drad was a waste of time. The Dunmer refused our request to free the Ogres. As we were leaving we learned from Lady Drad that the Ogres were kept in Bleak Mine.

Entering Bleak Mine the guards gave us no choice but to fight. Bunch of fools, we would have filled their pockets with gold pieces each had they just agreed to walk away in peace. Instead they rushed us.

Strange though, as they attacked my Ladies the guards kept yelling at me “I’m on your side.”

Oh well, other than us having to carry around a ton of orcish armor what does the fate of few foolish the guards matter, the ogres are free.

As we‘re crossing the field heading to Malacath’s shrine we see the strangest sight. Ogres have taken over the estate. Ogre overseers are watching as Lord and Lady Drad work in the field.

Malacath, pleased that his ogres have turned the table on Lord Drad offers as a reward the Daedric artifact Volendrun. The gigantic powerful two-handed Dwemer warhammer is nice but not my style. I give it to Vilja to carry maybe she will use it.

Well everyone is happy now with the possible exception of Lord and Lady Drad, and the Bleak Mine guards.

Ever wonder why Malacath, one of the Dwemer's most bitter foes possess Dwemer artifacts? Hmmm, maybe Malacath has more to do with the Dwemer disappearance than we realize. No, if Malacath had pulled a fast one over the Dwemer I’m sure he’d be bragging about it.

“Mortals have no business trying to become gods. The Dwemer deserved their fate,” Kaleah answered.

Agreed. We turned our heads northeast and struck out for Chorrol.
Acadian
I remember that quest and quite enjoyed it. I like the ladies' observations.

Fond memories caused me to review Episode 37 of Buffy's Book 1. Perhaps others might enjoy Buffy's take on the same quest:

*

"Good job! No one owns ogres but ME! And I fixed that maggot! The ogres own Drad! Make Drad eat dirt!" The massive stone figure of Malacath paused to boom forth a mighty laugh that shook the nearby pines and forced my hands to my ears. "Now you get a present. Keep up the good work. And be nice to my little brothers!"

The handle of a warhammer materialized in my hands. Its massive weight immediately sought the ground, decisively taking me with it. I heard orcish laughter behind me.

"Ho! Look at that, Ghorub. Volendrung's bigger than she is."

"Yeah, look at the tiny tree elf. Got more than ya can handle there, twig?"

I blew a strand of hair from my face, glanced up at the towering shrine to Malacath and whispered, "Your little brothers are making it quite hard to be nice to them." Releasing the grounded warhammer, I rose to my feet and slowly turned to face the pair of orcs. Lifting my chin, I planted both hands on my hips. "I didn't exactly see your big green butts down at Drad's estate fighting his henchmen to free those poor enslaved ogres."

Oops.

Silence descended. The axe that was slung on one orc's hip found its way to his hand, while his comrade slid a heavy sword free of its scabbard.

Buffy, when are you going to learn when to keep your mouth shut? I glanced at Superian some thirty or so paces away. Perhaps I could cast a spell to disappear, and make it to the speedy mare's back for a getaway.

"Stop!" The powerful command came from a third orc. I had briefly met the brown-robed leader of these followers when I accepted Malacath's task. His name was Shobob gro-Rugdush, and his voice carried authority. "Mug, Ghorub, stay your weapons. She may be small, but this elf possesses something you do not - the favor of our Lord."

Dark eyes glared and upper lips curled, but the axe and blade were lowered, as Mug and Ghorub stepped back.

Shobob approached me calmly. His hands were the size of dinner plates, but they were open and empty. I gulped, but did not reach for my bow. He spoke. "Now that you've completed Malacath's task, you are welcome here - despite the protests of my youthful companions. I must confess, I did not expect to see you return, Bosmer."

"Thank you for your timely intervention," I said looking up at the orc towering above me. This is a 'little' brother of Malacath?

Shobob curled his lip slightly, but judging from his kind brown eyes I assessed the expression to be a smile. "You have earned Volendrung," he continued. "May I help you lift it into your pack?"

"I'm afraid that would merely render the pack too heavy to carry." I thought about my magic bag. Buffy, what are you going to do with a hammer you can't even lift? I stared at the massive weapon for a moment, then lifted my face to meet the orc's eyes and smiled. "Shobob, I'm touched by your chivalry and kindness. I would be deeply honored if you would carry my mighty warhammer as your own, and wield it on my behalf."

His dark eyes opened wide as he stared at me questioningly.

I nodded.

Shobob slowly removed the two handed axe from behind his shoulders. After lowering it to the ground, he effortlessly hoisted Volendrung across his broad back. When he met my gaze again, I believed his eyes were shining with moisture - although it may have just been the angle of the westering sun as it sought the Abecean Sea.

"Shobob, you are truly an orc worthy of this weapon." I shot a smug glance at his dumbstruck companions.

"I don't believe you told me your name, Bosmer."

"I am called Buffy."

"Well, Buffy, I will proudly wield Volendrung, and remember your kindness with every skull it crushes."

I forced a crooked smile.

"Sit with me." Shobob led me to a bench under the shrine's shadow. "Every hopeful follower of Malacath strives to gain the favor of our Lord. I earned his blessing many years ago. My task was to help a young orc escape nearby Fort Crowhaven. She was a simple servant, and heavy with child at the time. Malacath did not take kindly to her being seduced by the Imperial noble that she worked for. Only some sort of foul magic could make a fine orcish woman lower herself to consort with a human."

He jerked a large thumb towards Mug and Ghorub. "These two lugs remain unblessed. They failed on more than one attempt to even locate where Drad kept the ogres. Tell me, Buffy, how did you do it?"

"Well," I began, "Lord Drad was pretty evasive, but the lady of the manor seemed quite anxious to sit and enjoy some girl talk over tea, strawberries and sweetrolls. Lady Drad told me of the hidden mine and even revealed where she and Lord Drad kept a key. Frankly, I don't think she liked the idea of enslaving ogres at all." I grinned slyly. "After dark, I slipped back into their estate and pinched the key."

Shobob glanced at the sulking Mug and Ghorub, and chuckled. "Well I guess that explains why those two didn't get very far. Perhaps Malacath realized this job called for a woman's touch." He then looked down at me appraisingly. "You're one third our size. Did you not encounter any of Drad's guards?"

"Not until I actually entered the mine," I replied. "Then, oh my yes! I know some illusion magic though, so I was able to convince them that they were the intruders, not me. See, one nice thing about being small is that I could cast my spell, then hide in a crevice between some rocks. I had to repeat that a couple times until only one wounded guard remained."

Shobob let both raised eyebrows ask his next question.

I glanced over my shoulder at Slayer in response.

The orc nodded his understanding, then a sparkle animated his eyes as he broke the brief silence. "Tell me about the ogres, Buffy."

"I used one of the guard's keys to open the holding cells and free them. Those were the first ogres I ever saw, Shobob, but I will never forget them. They're beautiful. Ogres are majestic, gray, gentle giants. I agree with Malacath - they should be free. Why, when I left, they were teaching the Drads how to farm."

@Acadian: That was a good read. Buffy has a way with words as she told the story on how she dealt with the guards. Knowing what impresses the audience nearly always works in the tellers favor.

But sometimes speaking before thinking can get you into big trouble in little china. The Jandaga also is prone to sticking his foot in his mouth at the most inopportune times. Fortunately the Ladies are there to lecture him on the errors of his ways. After saving his bacon of course.

Acadian Yah, I was gonna say. What's she gonna do with some gigantic weapon? Other than sell it down in Anvil. laugh.gif

That's really cool. So the ogres become guardians and workers of the Drads? Interesting. See, this is one of those side quests none of mine have ever done. Lady Saga for instance, has been renting one of their houses for years now, but has never done the official quest.

No, I've never tried any of the Sutch mods. Both ImpeREAL Empire - Unique Cities - Sutch and Arthmoor's Sutch Village with the Sutch Unification Patch sound interesting. Not sure why I didn't include Sutch. I remembered that I considered adding it to the game when I started. Not having ever used a Sutch mod I was concerned about conflicts but I can't remember what my concern was.

Not exactly. The worm has turn. The Ogres now hold the whip and the Drads now slave in the fields.

Sutch is really well done. You should get it built into your game. Its fort is incomplete at first, but over time... well I don't want to spoil. I also have the IMPEReal version too + the patch. I use this version + the base Sutch mod to simulate 20 years after the 4th Era.

Hopefully I can serve a little more Kahreem of Weet this weekend. I've been drinking on weekends, partially to deal with all the COVID [censored] that gets me down. Hence, my gaming has been pretty sporadic.

@Renee: Not to worry about spoilers, I've read the mod sheet many times; wink, wink.
I can get Vilja to whip up a potion for you if you'd like? A little spiced rum and Dr. Pepper guaranteed to cure what ails ya. If it don't turn your hair green first, that is.

Taken in moderation of course.

20200514 Fort Sutch Ruins
We got as far as the ruins of Fort Sutch when hearing some strange noises coming from the ruined fortress we decided to investigate.

Entering the ruins we could hear sounds of joyous celebration echoing from deep within the dark halls of the ruin. Cautiously we advanced until we were stopped by a lowered iron gate. A quick pull of a nearby lever opened the gate and we proceeded to cross over a bridge to where the noise was coming from. Wondering, what good is a gate when the opening lever is so easy to get to?

Unfortunately the answer became very clear when the celebration noise had stopped. The racket of raising the rusty gate had alerted the revelers. We prepared ourselves for the worst so when the attack came we were ready.
Five mercenaries, four Orc females and one Nord male came charging from a dark hallway. They gave us a tough fight but I’m thinking that they were a little tuckered out from their orgy, err celebrating their latest heist that they fell quick enough to our blades.

Two more waylaid us in another hallway, another female Orc mercenary and an Altmer marauder the stunning Captain Cymbaginia Larethias. Woo wee, the infamous Cymbaginia’s Sword of Fracturing combined with her ebony and orcish armor is going to fetch us a hefty bag of septims, for sure.

(Is it OOO or MOO that puts names to NPCs? I’m not sure but I like it.)

“Feache better search that one thoroughly,” Kaleah teased. “Those Altmer skirts are known to hide their gemstones in the most insidious places.”

After looting the ruins of Fort Sutch we left thinking we’d head east a ways before turning north. Walking along enjoying the day; Vilja collecting ingredients and Pym chasing fireflies (until she caught one and burned her fingers), I was just about ready to turn north when Kaleah stopped.

Pointing to some nearby Ayleid ruins Kaleah hissed, “She is there.”

“Who?” Maeva asked.

“The Keeper of the Flame, a Collector, one of those who are sent to retrieve apostates.”

Kaleah, the one who laughs in the face of danger was visibly upset about something inside the Ayleid ruins of Trumbe. Nothing is taking Kaleah away against her will. Not now, not ever!

Pym was staring at me with those big vacant eyes it was like I could hear her thoughts, “There is only one thing to do. Go to Trumbe and send whatever is there back to wherever it came from.”

Rising up to my imposing near Bosmer male height and looking up into Kaleah’s beautiful heterochromia eyes I firmly said, “I ain’t afraid of no daedra!”

“My glorious little Feache, I know you’re not.” Kaleah beamed.

With that we marched off to Trumbe. May those who stand before us tremble at our approach.
Acadian
Some nice loot from Sutch, sounds like.

Trouble in Trumbe? A Kaleah hunter is it? Let the hunter become the hunted.

@Acadian: You know where I got the fireflies idea from? Hope you don't mind.

20200515 Trumbe - Nico’s Scimitars, The Alyeid Steps
Standing outside the gate of Trumbe Kaleah looked at me and said, “You got a little melodramatic there. Please, control yourself until later when it’s important.”

Trumbe proved to be a mid-sized Ayleid structure infected with undead creatures; lich, skeletal warriors and the like. No real problem for a seasoned team of dungeon crawlers.

One lich made a big mistake by turning his back to us as he summoned a zombie.

The awful sounds of a lich and the terrifying screams of a skeletal warrior reverberated off Trumbe’s marble walls as we approached a gated room. As soon as the gate was down a skeletal champion attacked us. Kaleah hung back providing ranged support while Maeva and Pym stepped up to meet the skeletal champion.

I managed to get past the battle with the skeletal champion to find the Keeper of the Flame. The Keeper of the Flame leaps into the fray.

Leaving Maeva to battle the skeletal champion, Pym and Wolfgang came to my aid. The fight was soon over after that.

The Keeper of the Flame has been sent back to the waters of Oblivion minus the two flaming scimitars, which are now mine.

(Nico’s Scimitars, not overpowered and darn good looking. Years ago when I first installed this the Keeper was found dead. Discovered that OOO spawns and the Keeper of the Flame are not compatible. So this time I was expecting a dead Keeper. Didn’t happen, why? Reloading and redoing Trumble a few times I saw a pattern. Sometime OOO spawns a spectral warrior, sometimes not. Whenever there’s a spectral warrior the Keeper is found already slain. No spectral warrior then the Keeper is found alive and full of fight. Being alive is definitely more fun.
Instead of trying to fix the faction issue if that is what it is, I decided to change the narration. Had the Keeper had been found dead as expected then Kaleah would not have felt the presence of an adversary. Instead it would have been an honor bound sister in dire straits catching her attention. We would have just been too late.)

Off in the corner we could see the shimmering tree markings of an Ayleid door. Trumble-Erfinsel opened with the ancient key. Stepping through the doorway we found ourselves standing in a fairly large step stone way point. An Ayleid plaque hung on the wall that I’m unable to translate. Better make note of this place.

Can you imagine using a step stone to transport here and then step through the door unprepared into the room we just came from? Lich, skeletal warriors, spectral warriors, and the possibility of an angry Keeper of the Flame; I don’t want to think about it.

We left Trumble feeling good with ourselves for having sent the Keeper back whence she came. With that we broke out in song as we traveled north to help the time go by faster.

“I'm a gonna dance with my princess
By the light of the magical moon
I love ev'ry dance with my baby
By the light of the magical moon
As I go along my way, I say hey-hey
As I go along my way, I say hey-hey.”
SubRosa
Those are some cool flaming scimitars.
Acadian
Sounds like some serious fighting to get through Trumbe - but, as you say, not so much for your team.

So the Keeper of the Flame is no longer keeping those nifty flaming blue swords and Kaleah has one less thing to worry about for now.

And Pym can go back to chasing fireflies. (Yup, I remember your 'Caption This' comment). tongue.gif Wait. . . is that a butterfly over there?
Renee
That sounds really scary. I agree, the sounds undead make in Oblivion used to terrify me. Still give me shivers to this day. emot-ninja1.gif Which is good. I have heard Daggerfall is even creepier.

I can't view your pictures on this ancient browser I'm using today, but love the poetry!

Last we saw, 'the Redguard' was headed back to the Waterfront, but having some problems.

---------------------------------------

Sun's Height 26, 3rd Era 434, 4:36 pm

Days Passed: 334

IPB Image

There was no question. The rain was not abating, it was time to move on. The Redguard had been standing 'his' horse on a large boulder above two vicious enemies, for the better part of an hour: an Imperial soldier and a black bear. Waiting for this pair to somehow turn on one another. Because they were supposed to be natural enemies! Why weren't they turning, then?!

Eventually, it was time to move on. The soldier somehow managed to climb the slippery rock. Took a swing with his expensive silver sword. Caught the Redguard right in the leg.

"HEY!"

Time to roam. The Redguard burst from the safety of his rock, and head off down the hill. Great Forest below. Full gallop of hooves. He accelerates 'his' horse through the forest. Initial enemies fall far behind. But ... there are always more enemies ahead. That is why they call it The Great Forest. Something flashes yellow to the Redguard's left, as he moves by at high speed. A giant, dopey minotaur stands up the road, too dumb to quickly comprehend, as a literal week's worth of food clops its way by.

And finally, another soldier. He dismounts his own legion horse ... *schwing* goes his sword as he readies it. Rain continues to fall. Good thing these horses are so sure-footed.

"STOP!"

The Redguard does not stop. The soldier takes a swing with his expensive silver sword, but he's too late. The Redguard rushes off, just a minute more, before finally slowing down. Looks over his shoulder. Nobody is on his trail.

Suddenyl, he remembers the mask.

"Ah. The mask. I have got the mask! How could I forget?"

Events had been so chaotic over the previous couple of days. The Redguard reaches into his nightsack, pushes aside the slab of salted beef, and there it is. Given to him by Corvus Umbranox, Count of Anvil, it's the mask of the Gray Fox. The long-mysterious Gray Cowl of Nocturnal. Over the past eight months or so, every time he'd met the Gray Fox, he'd been wearing this mask. This cowl.

"Finally, after all my taunts, all those months, he finally revealed himself."

Yes he did. Corvus Umbranox. Long-respected Count of Anvil. Was the Gray Fox! He'd been missing for years; presumed deceased. Yet all that time, he had been hiding all over Cyrodiil. An upper-class manor here, a lowlife shack amongst poor people there. The Redguard smiles at the thought. Corvus Umbranox, a man even more crafty than himself. A true master of disguise.

He reaches into his nightsack, and brushes some salt away. He'd have to take better care of this rare and very useful cowl. No more leaving it aside pieces of food, and bottles of wine.

"Oh, this is precious."

He places the mask upon his head, instantly gaining its spell of life-detection ability. He smiles. But then grumbles. To his dismay, he can now see there's something out there, rushing toward him. Drats! Another bear! Time to move on.

IPB Image

After another few minutes of rushing, finally he exits the forest. Lo! It's White Gold Tower and the Imperial City, straight ahead! Back to safety. He slows their pace. Trots the horse down the hill, and steadies on flatter ground. Eventually, he realizes he must come to a decision: continue on the road to Weye, or swim the horse across Lake Rumare. Riding through Weye could be a problem. To avoid having some confrontation with some Legion Guard, it would be better to swim the horse across to the Waterfront, where Armand Christophe would quickly take care of his bounty. Things can get back to normal.

"But I'll get wet if I do that."

Never mind that his clothes are already soaked from the rain. He opts for Weye. Walks slowly there, hoping nobody is outside. With his new cowl's life-detecting ability, he sees a purple shape moseying leisurely in front of one of Weye's cottages. The Redguard assumes it's just that Breton man, the one who's always lurking around his yard. The one who's always complaining about those damned fish. Good, nothing to worry about.

"Ah fokke."

But it's not that Breton man up ahead. In fact, the Breton is nowhere to be seen. Maybe he's had enough of the rain, too. Clearly, he's not so worried about those damned fish today. No, as the Redguard nears the life-detected blob of magical essence blocking the road, he then sees that there are actually two life-detected blobs of magical essence, blocking the road. And one of them is riding upon the other.

"You're wanted dead or alive, Gray Fox!" says the third Legion Soldier encountered for the day. "This will be easier if you're dead!" he glowers.

"Oh. Oh this? You are referring to this gray mask I'm wearing? Hey, this mask isn't mine! Some man gave it to me. In fact, the Count of Anvil gave it to me. Yes you heard right, sir. The Count of Anvil, gave this mask, to me. Hard to believe, but I swear it's true. Now, if this mask has anything to do with the so-called Gray Fox, I got nothing to do with any of that."

The guard continues to glower. Fingers the haft of his sword hungrily.

"So it's the mask, is what I'm saying. It looks just like that mask in all those Gray Fox posters, ha! So yes, I can see how a mistake of recognition could be made here. So you're saying you think I am the Gray Fox, all because I'm wearing this mask?"

"I'll make Captain for this!"

The Redguard curses his luck once again. "I highly doubt that, sir." Time to move on. "You can try to follow me I guess. Do you know how to swim?" Fortunately, the Waterfront is less than a mile away.

Yes, you could say I use some graphics overhaul. Using Bevilex' modlist for Oblivion as a guide I installed the suggested an ENB prest, Oblivion Reloaded, and some 147 texture, body, and face replacers. I have a total of 294 packages installed which includes 265 active mods; esm and esp. Game looks incredible, runs real smooth, and hardly ever crashes. That is unless everyone starts throwing fireballs.

@Renee - I think this is a better shot of the Keeper of the Flame. She is welcome to join my little party anytime but she is bound by honor and duty and is not likely to change allegiance.

What’s really neat about the swords is that they are scripted to both sheath at the hip or on the back (there’s an esp for each). Both swords are equipped or unequipped in a single action.

Daggerfall Style Skeletons screams are in my mod list.

The Redguard,,, the more I read it the more I’m laughing. This is really good. He’s quick on his feet but needs to work on his persuasion skill a bit.
Then there’s Kahreem floating above the horse. Nothing relieves saddle sores like a little levitation spell. And they say levitation is banned in Cyrodiil.

20200519 Rebuilding the Orrery
With the removal of the Keeper of the Flame Kaleah was feeling much less anxious about traveling the Highlands. Good thing too because even though it was late in the day and we were exhausted my Ladies didn’t feel up to the disorienting effect, slight as it is of teleportation. So we walked heading NNE until well past dark.

It was around 11:00PM when we spied the flickering yellow glow of a campfire. It wouldn’t hurt to ask if they’d be willing to share their campfire for the night. As we made our way to the camp site we nearly tripped over the body of a dead bandit. Searching the body of we found a Dwemer cog and an undelivered letter revealing the locations of more stolen Dwemer artifacts. This must be Camp Ales Bothiel had mentioned in the letter.

From out of the darkness came a lone legionnaire demanding to know what was going on.

After announcing ourselves and presenting Bothiel’s letter we told the legionnaire we were investigating the theft of Dwarven artifacts from Morrowind, destined for the Universitum Arcanorum. Anyone conspiring to sell stolen Dwemer artifacts for profit will suffer greatly.

For a moment I thought I heard the legionnaire mumble something about losing early retirement.

The legionnaire accepted our story and continued his patrol. Sometimes it pays to be the Champion of Cyrodiil.

A few hours sleep and we were up at dawn refreshed and ready to go. It was raining and the legionnaire was still hanging about. He said he was standing guard as we slept. Kaleah who sleeps with one eye open, whispered in my ear that the legionnaire just stood there all night starring at the Dwemer cog.

As a thank you for a job well done I gave the legionnaire a one-day pass to Gweden. He tucked it under his armor, gave a salute and with a “Glad to be of service” turned and headed south.

We on the other hand quickly packed up and took off. Continuing in a NNE direction we climbed higher into the Colovian Highlands.

“Sometimes I don’t think you know where you are going”, I heard Vilja complain. “You never ask me where we should go.”

Vilja is always complaining that I don’t ask her what we should do so I asked her. And what did she say?

“I don’t know, go kill something?”

“Yeah!” both Kaleah and Maeva enthusiastically voiced their opinion. Pym just smiled and pointed a nearby Ayleid ruin, Varondo.

Ok, into Varondo we go. Who knows maybe we’ll find some bedrolls where we can take a nap.
macole
20200523 Nico’s Scimitars prt2
Before we entered Varondo for the first time I warned my Ladies to be careful don’t fall prey to impulsive actions. Did they listen? No, we hadn’t gone ten steps when lessons learned were soon forgotten. We passed a locked gate behind which daedra were milling about. Kaleah, still obsessed by the Keeper of the Flame in Trumbe, led My Ladies in trying to get at the daedra on the other side.

Unable to unlock the gate or to get my Ladies to relinquish their attack, I continued on alone. It wasn’t long before I found myself in a most precarious situation. Those depraved daedra conjuring Guardians of Oblivion were everywhere and so were their summoned minions. I was afraid that this was the end when one by one my Ladies began to arrive.

Just in time too. Raeght and his brother Fhis had joined the battle. With his great sword Raeght laid low Kaleah and Pym as he cut his way toward me. His attack was relentless but the point of my blade found an opening. Then I ended him rightly.

His brother Fhis fared no better when we corned him in the next hallway. The beauty of an Arcane Shield he carried I gave to Maeva.

With the first level of Varondo now quiet, we entered Varondo-Beldastare. As in the first level we were nearly overwhelmed by the Guardians of Oblivion and their Daedra allies. To help even the odds I summoned Marky and the Sisters of Insanity. Take no prisoners, my beatuies.

Masters at the Universitum Arcanorum teach that spells have their own color it just happens so quickly you can hardly ever see it. Here with the heavy fighting kicking-up so much dust in the damp air, the color of magic hung suspended in the air like a cloud.

Surrounded, the Beldastare leader Vannyssa Copperwing looked around desperately but there were no more Daedra or Guardians left to come to her aid. My Ladies don’t take kindly to those that mistreat me. It’s either that or they are very possessive and don’t want to share.

With the fighting over, as we went about looting Varondo-Beldastare. We discover more Ayleid step stones. By the Goddess these steps put you in the most dangerous of places. There was something else, a set of Nico’s Ebony Scimitars (I forgot they were here).

A non-flaming version of the scimitars we found in Trumbe. Maeva says they’re more like a khopesh than a scimitar so I gave them to her to carry. Smarty-pants!

“Plus 20 inteligence,” Maeva retorted as she sashayed away. I feel dumber already.

Finding another Ayleid door we entered Varondo-Varlasel. The level of the fighting did not diminish one little bit. Aster Orontes gave us a good chase. Summoning Daedra to block our pursuit didn’t help him as we eventually took the Imago Storm Gauntlets from him.

A Dremora Valkynaz tried to stop us from entering the finale treasure room. A full set of Daedric armor minus the helm was looted from his body. Kaleah celebrates a victory.

In the finale treasure room, three very hard locked Ayleid reliquaries are defended briefly by a big Xivilai and ill-tempered clannfear. Having to strip down to the skivvies in order for my ‘unlock everything’ spell to work on very hard locks is… well, it’s a little embarrassing with all the snickering going on behind me.

We left the treasure room by a side hallway which eventually led to… well wouldn’t you know the now unlocked locked gate near Varondo’s entrance. Instead of rejoicing the ladies are complaining. Everyone is tired and their feet are sore. So, back into Varondo we go to a place where we saw beds and pallets, to take a long nap.
Acadian
Camping with a Legion guardian is always comforting. Looking at the ladies, I’m not surprised he stuck around. wink.gif

Into Varando. And plenty of tough fighting! I chuckled about the ladies snickering about the Jandanga showing plenty of skin while working. That is a bit like the kettles calling the pot black? tongue.gif
SubRosa
Jadanga reminds me of the crew of the Calypso. I have been watching the old Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau, and one thing those guys hate is wearing clothes! It is rare to see them in more than a pair of bermuda shorts at least 2 sizes too small for them, and their red diver's caps.
Lopov
What's that black being "sitting" next to the door in the first pic?

Is that the glass atronach?

That unlock spell better works else there might be some serious giggle. laugh.gif

Varondo is fun to explore! viking.gif bluewizardsmile.gif I like how at the end they go back to some place full of pallets so they can get some rest. sleep.gif That was a good read. How many hours has Jandaga's game accrued so far?

Last we saw, 'the Redguard' was headed back to the Imperial City, so he can make his grand return to all his friends who inhabit the Waterfront area. Halfway to the city, he remembered the mask given to him by Anvil's count. The Grey Cowl of Nocturnal. emot-ninja1.gif He put this cowl upon his head, but does not seem to understand the consequences of this.

"You're wanted dead or alive, Gray Fox. And this will be easier if you're dead!"

The Redguard thinks Hey, I'm no Gray Fox while looking longingly for a moment over to Wawnet Inn.

Wawnet Inn. A place which contains one of the best and most complete collection of wines ever assembled. Nerussa, its publican, seemed a little loony at times. In fact, there were rumors in the past about her being an alcoholic herself, as well as a cultist who was secretly running a brothel in her cellar. The Redguard never saw any of this as true. Sure, sleeping next to one's collection of wines seemed a little eccentric. In some peoples' eyes, perhaps. But certainly, he'd been guilty of that as well, hadn't he?

...The Redguard looks toward Wawnet Inn...

"This is the end for few" shrieks the Imperial impatiently, getting slowly off his horse.

... where plenty of wine is kept nice and cool...

"HUUUAHG!" the Imperial's sword swishes.

... but this is no time for thinking about wine. Instead, the Redguard ankles his stolen Legion horse, goading it forward. Then, he comes up with a plan. Jumps over the stone fence, straight onto the property owned by that 'damned fishes' man. The Imperial follows, taking time to open the cottage's gate. The Redguard rushes around fish-man's yard, slipping a bit around the corner, and then leaps the horse over the cottage's back wall. The horse lands into the ground. Lots of mud, everywhere! It's been raining all day, after all.

The Redguard keeps the horse moving, but suddenly realizes nobody is chasing.

"I'll get you, Gray Fox!!" calls the Imperial, who now seems to be stuck upon the fish-man's cottage's rear wall.

The Redguard smiles. Trots his horse more calmly away. The purple blob of magical essence (representing the Imperial soldier) falls further behind. Halfway across the gigantic bridge back to the Imperial City, he decides maybe it's best to put his new mask, his Gray Cowl of Nocturnal, back into his nightsack. He does so, while also grabbing the slab of salted beef. He immediately wolfs this down. Beef is gone, mask is safe. By performing this action, he doesn't realize his bounty is now cut in half.

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

9:34 pm
Back on the Waterfront it's now fully nighttime, and chaos ensues!

"Armand you must help me!"

The Redguard had encounterd yet another guard; in fact at least two of them discovered the most-wanted thief in all Cyrodiil is now back upon their territory. They rushed behind, swinging their expensive weapons. The Redguard quickly placed his Chameleon ring back upon one of his fingers, then called upon his Redguard ancestry to build upon his adrenaline. This caused him to run a little extra faster, jump a little extra higher. He managed to jump upon one of the Waterfront's roofs.

But there was no purpose to this. Even while hunkering down and trying to shush his movements, the guards both knew he was there. Did they also have some sort of life-detecting magic? Who cares. They began to ready their bows. There was no choice but to make his moves, scrambling all over the Waterfront (in an effort to confuse the guards) before finally sneaking around. Waiting for them to calm down. Once he realized he'd apparently lost them, he then rushed around while sneaking, finally safely into Armand's shack.

"Kahreem? Is that you?"

"Ahh, sorry," Kahreem, the Redguard, says. "Let me take this ring off. There. Now you can see me."

"You wear the shadows well, fallow thief."

"Not at the moment, I don't," Kahreem rolls his eyes. "Hey, can you keep all that 'fellow thief' talk down? The whole squadron is looking for me right now."

"You can pay your fines to the guards, serve your time, or pay me half, and I'll fix 'em all."

Kahreem, the Redguard, grumbles. "How much is it, this time?" And 375 gold are gone, just like that. "Good thing I've got several thousand on my person, Armand. You have no idea what I've been through."

"Consider it done," Armand Christophe, the Waterfront's Thief Guild doyen says with a smile. "I will get rid of all your criminal warrants."

"Hey, well that is entirely wonderful. Another successful run, back out of lawlessness."

"Absolutely, Kahreem. How goes it, my brother fellow thief?"

The Redguard palms his face. "So I have something to show you, Armand. You are really going to be surprised about this one!"

"What is it?"

Kahreem of Weet grins. Then he pulls his final bottle of Cheap Wine from his nightsack, and uncorks it with a *POP*.

SubRosa
More madcap adventures with the Wheet bandit. I thought that he was going to produce the Grey Cowl at the end. But instead it was cheap wine! laugh.gif Which is especially funny after his musing about Nerussa and her stock of fine vintages.

Yeah, it was good he had so much gold -hrrm- on his person, so he could get rid of that pesky fine. Like SubRosa I thought he was gonna show Armand the cowl at the end but I guess he wants to keep that thing to himself biggrin.gif

@Renee - Jandaga is now at 378 hours and the story has been running since August 2017. Your Redguard story is also a good read, most enjoyable. I'm getting the impression that there some sort story behind 'the Wheet Bandit' and 'cheap wine' comments.

@Lopov - The black thing is a mummified body. I have install a mod that place bodies randomly in the tombs. it adds some atmosphere but I wouldn't recommend it to most since many bodies get placed in areas I don't think they should be. In bandit sleeping quarters for example. I don't care how sleazy a bandit you are I'm certain you're going to remove that stinky mummy away from you bedroll.

- Yes and no, the big green one is a glass golem added by the mod Creature Diversity. Creature Diversity make a distinction between atronachs and golems

- With his Alteration skill at 102, the Unlock Everything spell nearly always works. Jandaga just has to take off all his armor for the very hard locks.
Lopov
@Renee - I liked Kahreem's dreamy thoughts of the Wawnet Inn as the guard close to him was getting ready for a battle. But then Kahreem made the guard stuck. laugh.gif

"You wear the shadows well, fellow thief" was probably the least appropriate comment in that moment. biggrin.gif

Time for some cheap wine! Well-deserved!
Acadian
What fun! I loved Kahreem's musing that a woman who sleeps with her wine must be okay. Pulling a bottle of cheap wine instead of the cowl at the end got me by surprise too . . . but it is just so very Kahreem! tongue.gif

20200529 a trip through the highlands
It’s a beautiful morning when we left Varondo. Everyone is feeling cheerful and full of hope that we’ll reach Chorrol by super time.

The trail took us higher up the mountain before turning eastward down into the valley below. Exiting the mountain trail we could see a small camp far off to the right. Two figures from the camp began to approach us. They got about half way to us when they suddenly drew their weapons and charged straight at us.

Bandits? What in Oblivion are they thinking?

I know what they were thinking. Four girls and a tree-hugger all dress in psychedelic costume armor, ripe for the picking. Well they thought wrong that’s for sure.

One of the bandits was carrying a Dwemer cog. It takes little time to investigate Brotch Camp. Nothing of real value was left in the camp.

The oddest thing happened while we were searching the pockets of the two bandits. A large group of Ogres walked right past us heading north. Not a word was said, no hostile movements by any of them. They just walked on by, so close I could have touched one. If that wasn’t odd enough, one stopped to investigate the dead bandits. (I don’t believe I’ve ever seen anything like that before.)

Up through the valley we walked. North of Wind Cave and we encountered two separate groups of hostile Orcs; three Wild Orcs in one, and three Orsinium Warriors in the other.

Trying to impress the dominate male of the Wild Orcs, an Orc female tried to bull rush Maeva. She didn’t succeed as the little Cute Elf, Maeva steadfastly held her ground and ran her through with her sword. Maeva recovered a warhammer belonging to Countess Millona Umbranox.

Kaleah makes an observation that Orcs in the Colovian Highlands either travel alone or in groups of one male and two females. We all agree that it seems that way but can’t come up with a reason why.

It was getting dark as we neared Lakeside Camp when we were attacked by a young dragon. Poor thing must have been starving to attempt attacking such a large party of travelers. Thinking a young dragon could mean an adult dragon nearby, we decided it best not rest here but to continue on a little further to Ave’s House of Earthly Delights for a little food and drink.

Hours later, Maeva pulls Jandaga’s ponytail to get his attention.

”Are you ready to go yet? Come on; let’s go before Vilja starts stomping on the tables!”

We stagger out of Ave’s and head toward Chorrol. It was just before dawn when we arrived at Arborwatch. Dead tired we just flop wherever.

Those ogres are like Sergeant Shultz. "I see nothing, I hear nothing, I know nothing..."

Maeva could not resist pulling that ponytail!

How odd about that ogre procession. Some sort of pilgrimage perhaps.

'Hours later, Maeva pulls Jandaga’s ponytail to get his attention.'
- - Haha! And I do see Vilja off to the right there.

And now you know the whole story about the night at Ave's House of Earthly Delights. Well almost.

Been thinking about the ogre procession. Could be that they're coming from Lord Drad's Estate? We followed them a little ways until they entered the near by Ayleid Ruin Nonungalo, I think it was.
