Must have been subconscious for me, too. Just had to fight through mod issues first, lol.
Tell me about it, Kane. Every year when I start up Skyrim for the winter I have to go through some sort of modding / game issues first. Usually Steam-related.

I think this year of 2020 is the first in which everything went smoothly. No CTDs-on-launch, no missing MCM menu, and so on.
I've never had such a fight. My load order isn't that big and rarely changes, so I can usually get Skyrim installed and modded in 4 hours or less. Six months of time in between made a difference, though.
First I kept getting CTD before the main menu, and I sussed out that Carriage & Ferry Travel Overhaul and Immersive Citizens are no longer compatible and conflict.
Then I found out that a new hair mod I was trying is possibly the most incompatible mod
ever. Vanilla Hair Replacer is incompatible with
literally every other mod that touches an NPC, and gives half the population blackface.
Once I got that fixed and got my Elven overhaul mods installed, Idari's eyebrows got buried in her forehead. Luckily, that was easily fixed by telling Wrye Bash to install it last.
At this point I though I was golden! But by the time I got to Rorikstead, every Dog in the game seemed to hate me and would instantly attack. Then half of Riverwood, and the Vigilant of Stendarr did the same. It was at that point that I decided to remove AI Overhaul and restart.
Fingers crossed everything works now. I've been trying since Tuesday night.
