We need to cover some RP vs fanfic writing basics as a group, but today might not be the day. Yesterday afternoon I got back from watching my uncle’s apartment building burn to the ground (we were driving by and saw the flames, not a fun surprise) to find KC’s and my plans screwed up. I just moved on as best as I could in the situation. Frankly I had no interest in trying to fix a mess that I didn’t make, and it’s still not a top priority.

Folks, please at least read what’s going on in the RP before you post. If you don’t have time, then just put a quick note saying “move on” in the discussion thread. If you screw up, please fix it yourself. We all have drama. No one should have to apologize for being busy, but wasting other people’s time is not OK.

I hope I'll be back on tonight, maybe sooner. If not and in the meantime just carry on as if Abiene was getting tipsy at a party. (Which she is.)

I just want to add:

This may not seem like a big deal to the rest of you, but it was basically a slap in the face to both Grits and I to see that. The error was spotted when it would have been easily corrected, and the decision was made not to.

EDIT: I'm going to be out for a big chunk of the day as well so responses from Aravi are going to be slow.

@ Grits - Grits, I am so very sorry about your uncle's apartment building, and for my mistake. It was an honest mistake. That it caused upset feelings or stress on anyone makes me feel awful that the error was mine.

I am an inexperienced RP'er, as most of us on here are. We have all of us been guilty of not thoroughly reading the previous posts at times, and with a lot fewer characters and posts to keep up with.

Example: There were only three posters/characters to keep up with on the Poison thread, but several times workarounds had to be done or reminders of information posted on the discussion thread. It happens, people make mistakes; especially when they have stress, health issues, or busy lives.

I can't do anything more than ask your forgiveness, which I have done. I have deeply apologized on here and in PM's to you both. Grits, of all people on here you should understand that; you have been the recipient of all of our understanding when your RL and spreading yourself too thin has affected your own focus. We all love you, and sometimes that means compensating for another when they can't. I would never have caused you additional stress for anything in the world.


@ KC - It was already too late to fix by the time Liz PM'd me and told me about it; other posts were up notating her receiving the gift. There was really nothing I could do at that point.

I am so sorry my slip has affected your plans in the RP, but there really wasn't a mess to clean up and no one's time needed to be wasted. It could have been brushed off as a funny coincidence.

That was the only thing Kayla eyed with longing that Maxical would have seen to know what to get her, and Maxical would have had no way of knowing the others had bought it. In the real world these things happen.


RP's are supposed to be fun, it is the whole point of them. I think the level of anger over this is out of proportion to the mistake I made, you both know I would never do anything deliberately to hurt/anger/aggravate either one of you.

It would be a shame to let hard feelings spoil what has been a fun RP. I don’t have any hard feelings. I hope this situation doesn’t create them for others.

Nothing said from anger can ever be constructive. It is a poison and a fire. It destroys everything it touches. I say what is to follow as separated from mine as I can make myself. If it offends...well, that is not my intention. I wish I had the words to set things aright. Sadly, I do not.

There was a mistake made. Of that, there is no contest.

But another mistake was made. We'll call it Murphy's Law.

The original and accurate version goes like this: "If there are two or more choices that can be made the Human will inevitably choose the one that is wrong."

Choice One: Realize there was a mistake, offer solution. Solution is implemented, and the situation is resolved. Everyone is happy, and life and community goes forward in an Harmonious state.

Choice Two: Become angry. Choose to be upset over trying to resolve the problem.

An honest mistake is just that.

I understand that one may lose their temper over them, we all do this. No one is immune.

But consider the nature of what it is you devote so much energy to, before you act upon it. How bad can a mistake be, when compared to the intentional acts that are meant to be hurtful?

How much is there to gain by holding on to this? And how much more would we lose if we didn't let go?

In this, I see that forbearance and forgiveness, are not things to be earned, rather they are necessities. Without these traits, how would we have survived? Both as individuals, and as various communities.

When you find yourselves in this position in life; and you will, for the only guarantee in life is hardship, remember this. When you find yourself pleading for the forgiveness of others, because there is literally nothing else you can do, remember this moment and the fact you offered none.

The totality of a person is not worth condemning over one action.

At present Weynon Village’s only entry is Thals Andus’ link (thank you for Thals, Black Hand!). Who said that about you, and why? Don't believe it, Blackie. You were totally awesome, there could not have been a more fun, inspiring, or compelling roleplay partner ever - I haven't seen them if there is.

Maybe I don't know anything about roleplay and how it is supposed to be done either, but I know what I experienced playing with you. It was challenging, tremendously inspiring, and amazingly and awesomely fun.

Don't let the words of someone else ever stifle what you have to offer in your roleplay, please. You offer more than anyone else I've seen on any RP before.

Honestly, i think everyone needs to hash things out, say what needs to be said, then get over it.

At the end of the day, this place is a haven for us nerds, but at the same time, it's the internet.

No. It doesn't work. I feel like if person A has a problem with person B, then person A should let person B know. And if person C happens to be caught in the crossfire of person A's issues, then it makes a big mess because person A didn't take responsibility for their feelings and discussed things like an adult.

I'm just going to say this - not just for mine and Blackie's sake, but for the sake of all the newb RP'ers that have been welcomed to this thread:

If you are on an RP with any of us new to RP'ing - instead of sniping newb RP'ers behind their backs, the experienced RP'ers should be giving us guidance and suggestions. We can't change something if we don't know it is wrong. I would have taken any suggestions very well if they had been given.

RE: Whatever was said about the Poison thread:

Blackie, me, and Grits were the only ones on that Poison RP; If anyone other than the three of us didn't like what we did on there, I don't care. I loved it. Technically, it was no one else's concern whether we knew what we were doing on there or not as long as we were happy.

I've never RP'd before, but to me it was the most fun I've had in a long time, loved it and loved the people and characters participating in the RP.

Coming back to the Wobbly Playground opened us up to trying to RP with more experienced RP'ers; so now others would have a say in what we do.

Everyone knows on my first post I made a crucial error, didn't know what to do or how to fix it. I'm a newb to this just like Blackie is. I apologized deeply, and one of the injured parties accepted my apology ( <3 ).

Whenever you are dealing with people in a new environment, there will be mistakes made. You all with experience can and should realize that; offer assistance, suggestions, advice, techniques - help, patience, and forgiveness for our gaffs. Like Liz suggested - communicate with your newb fellow RP'ers. We can't learn to do it right if we don't know we are doing something wrong.

Sniping behind people's backs is schoolroom stuff, lets mature it up a bit so the RP remains fun for all, please.

OH!! I think I begin to understand.

What went on in the poison thread does not reflect any standards but the ones of the three who were participating. Much of the character wrangling would be unforgivable to some RPers, which has no relevance whatsoever since other RPers were not involved. We three agreed to wing it, and so it was wung. Mayhem ensued and fun was had by all.

There might be concerns that we’re throwing protocol out the window in the main thread. We’re not.

But in the side threads you players make the rules. No one but you (and our esteemed Moderators, bless you who have to read through all of this!) get to judge.

So I’d say don’t panic until someone crosses the line. Then simply tell THEM about it.



Regarding current events:

Liz, maybe Kayla can find some drunk Nord to buy it for her. Oh no wait, he would have to have some coin.

I have something to say.

Even as I said it not too much earlier: Anger is a poison and a fire. It destroys everything it touches, and that as we *ALL* can screw up, and start pointing fingers rather than try to resolve situations, and that we *ALL* do this: Forbearance and Forgiveness are necessities. Not luxuries.

Not just here, but in each of our lives.

In spite of knowing this and in spite of having experienced it time and time again, I am all too weak in the place of irrational emotions and flare-ups. I can do naught but apologize, and thank the concerned PM's that I received. A little reminder that there are others besides myself I have to consider.

Not just here, but in my life as well.

Something went wrong somewhere. We've all been through some...well, frankly some crap lately. Stress and pressure is cooking at each of us in someway. The irony? We come here amongst those who can understand it and each other. And a misstep here, a misquote there, and I'm bouncing around like a shiny sphere in a game of pinball.

I too come here to escape and alleviate myself of the drama, and I suppose if I didn't feel something, that would mean I would not grudgingly admit that I luv the lot of ya's.
