After watching Frozen a few days ago, I want a Conjure Olaf spell! biggrin.gif

Mmmm, take a Frost Atronach mesh, make him stouter and rounder, stick a carrot on him and you've got Olaf in Skyrim!

Isaac the White is in Vernim Wood, a mod-added village. I forget the name of this mod, but it adds all the villages found in TES1: Arena, and they're all pretty small little hamlets. Anyway, Isaac has just focused the crystal in the Oculory, and after a night's rest in the Vernim Wood Inn, he will walk back to Windhelm with Hugh Mann and Crystal Beth so they can all take a cart to Winterhold. smile.gif

I have decided also what's going to happen with Claire Voyance. I left her over a month ago, and she's headed toward Windhelm, a town she's never been, so she can confront Ulfric, and get in an epic battle with his forces, I assume. But her game is on hold right now. I can't decide who gets to win Civil War: Stormies or Impies? indifferent.gif So I'm going to create a warrior guy eventually who will probably be a Nord, and this guy will join the Stormcloaks. This guy's game will be dead-is-dead, and if he dies, then Claire's side wins. viking.gif Claire is not DiD, but if the Stormie's side ultimately wins (my warrior doesn't get killed at some point, and manages to defeat the Empire), then she'll have to find something else to do.

But now, my white wizard. bluewizardsmile.gif

SubRosa
That is a neat idea for what to do with the Civil War. Nordy-Boy will decide it.
Lopov
At first I read that it's called Vermin Wood. laugh.gif

That's an interesting approach with Claire and the Nord. Maybe that's the one who'll be named Bjorn To Be Wild. wink.gif
Renee

At first I read that it's called Vermin Wood. laugh.gif

Yeah, I know, ha ha. I mistyped Vernim for Vermin myself at first.

I don't think Bjorn will be the one. He's supposed to be a badass, and I see the unnamed Stormy guy being more of a meek person, of noble deeds and all that. I won't be able to start his game this season though. Cripes, it's already February, and I'm not even done with White Wizard! Isaac is literally going to occupy the rest of my Skyrim season this year, pretty much.

How in the world was I able to b34t the Mage's College quest in less than a month back in 2012? ... I must have been gaming like mad back in those days.
SubRosa
I always think Vermin Wood too.

If you want the strong silent type for your Stormcloak, I suggest someone based off Buliwf (Beowulf) from The Thirteenth Warrior. This mod makes Ulfric look like Vladimir Kulich. You could copy the face data to one of the male Nord presets, and use that for your player character.
Renee
Sweet, thanks SR! It'll be awhile before I roll my Stormie guy, so I might need a reminder about Ulfric played by Vladimir. I've been watching so much Xena lately I was expecting to see her sneaking up in that video you linked to as I watched it. viking.gif

I did some gaming today finally (it's been over a week, imagine that?) Isaac the White is off to Labyrinthian, which I'm pretty excited about. Skyrim is supposed to be this huge dumbed-down action game, but honestly I don't feel like his game has had much action in it lately. hehe.gif
Grits
Renee, what a great idea to let your future Stormie decide the outcome of the war! Good luck to Isaac in Labyrinthian. I haven’t been there in ages. I’m looking forward to his adventure.

SubRosa, now I know which movie I'm going to watch next. biggrin.gif
Renee
Yes, I went to Labyrinthian a long time ago, back in 2012. I remember there was some sort of giant dragon made of bones, I think, but other than that, the experience will be new again.

I put a mod in his game that adds white greybeard robes, but they're rather expensive, but he's really wanting to buy one of these robes from Farengar Secret-Fire. Pictures soon!

"Helgen. Destroyed by a dragon. Haad to believe, isn't it?"

"Would you look at that!"

"What happened here? So the rumors are true. Helgen was indeed destroyed by a dragon. But I haven't seen any dragons about, have you?"

Brelyna shrugs while Hugh Mann pouts. Hugh is the latest addition to their group; a warrior with typical warrior talents. Isaac and Brel had taken him into their little group after Sir Hugh insisted. We don't need another Isaac had argued, and Brel had not agreed. Just because Isaac could now summon basic draugrs did not mean he and Brel would now be one-hundred percent safe. There were all sorts of dangers out there, dangers which the pair had only begun to hear about a few days prior.

Helgen lies deserted, while Isaac and his two comrades trek right through to Falkreath..

"In just a few hours, I can crawl under some furs."

"Don't mess anything up while you're here."

Grits
Oh my gosh, I can hear Brel and Sir Hugh giving their lines. I’m glad that the warrior insisted on coming along. I suspect fights will get lively. biggrin.gif
ghastley
I decided to check out the combination of a follower and a summoned housecarl, so Mignonette has rescued Illia from Darklight Tower. That gives us two-handed, archer, and mage styles in the group, as M herself is using an enchanted Ebony Battle-axe even though she's putting slightly more points in Magicka than Health or Stamina to keep her housecarl using a bow.

Illia is over-fond of Ice Storm, and frequently blows already dead foes out of reach before they can be looted. She also wears a Frost Cloak and obscures a lot of everyone's view with the bright cloud around her. I was getting that effect with Sudi the Archer's male housecarl using Fireballs and Flame Cloak, too.

However, if you give Illia a circlet to wear, she takes off her hooded cloak, so I may keep her just for the eye-candy. biggrin.gif

Heidi and Aranxa are also still running around with their housecarls, and checking out how they level. Each game is around 20-30 hours and about the same in levels.

Aranxa is a Dremora herself, and I've been trying out new hairstyles, that could possibly get merged into DHF later. The latest is a long ponytail (Koala from the KS Hairdos mod) and there's a HDT version with havok physics that lets it swing around as you run, so I tried that one. It has some nice features, like if you swing around quickly, the hair may end up over her shoulder. However, I can't call it much more realistic than the rigid hair. It may be possible to adjust the parameters to make it move better, but I have other work that's more important. I have to modify the hair mesh to clear the horns, and my attempt to do that broke the physics set-up, anyway. The static version works nicely, but trying to copy over the other blocks in NifSkope left it hovering a few inches over her head.
Renee
Whoa nelly, a dremora with a ponytail. Wicked!

Ah, the spoilers thread. I don't have to dance around occurances here. Bjorn Tubewyyld is returning to Riften from Whiterun. He was supposed to do a couple Thieves Guild quests, but only managed to get one done: the poisoning of one of Honningbrew's vats. The other quest involves good old-fashioned thievery: stealing some sort of statue from House Grey-Mane. Only problem is he sucks as a thief. Keeps getting caught. KD He also can't pick locks very well yet, and I'm pretty sure the statue lies behind the one locked door in Grey-Mane's house.

Yeah, Bjorn is worse than Kahreem. Kahreem may make a lot of blunders, but at least he ultimately gets jobs done.
Grits
ghastley, I’m late to the party, but I love that ponytail!

Renee, I’m in delicious anticipation of some of the TG quests with Bjorn. biggrin.gif

Bjorn Tubewyyld

Level: 11

Days Passed: 22
Days Jailed: 0

Location: Solitude
Current weapons[/u]: iron battleaxe, Bow of Soul Snaring

Bjorn Tubewyyld emerges from Radiant Raiments, looking good and feeling fine. He literally feels fine because he's wearing the fine clothes he'd just bought. They were an expensive buy, but he's going to need these clothes.

He'd managed to swim to Solitude the day before. Unsure of which road actually goes to this town, he'd merely swam to it, after seeing its spires and windmill from a distance. Being a Nord, he'd felt the cold after getting out of water, but hadn't been slowed or bothered by it much.

And now that he's here, and blew even more gold on a room at the Winking Skeever, he got lucky, and had managed to find the slimy Argonian the Thieves Guild had been cautioning him about. But this Argonian, whose name is Gulum-Ei, had been straight-up, and easy to approach. Bjorn's initial attempts to persuade Gulum had gone no where, but Golum-Ei had hinted that if Bjorn would break into the Blue Palace and steal a case of a special beverage, he would tell Bjorn what Bjorn wants to know.

.... still though, one can't trust a slimy, hookah-smoking liazard. Brynjolf and Mercer had both emphasized that Gulum-Ei cannot be trusted, and should be kept under watch, and Bjorn isn't disagreeing with this.

Tirdas, 1:33 AM
Bjorn finds the case of Firebrand Wine wanted by Gulum-Ei. This case was so easy to find, Bjorn had walked by it at least 4x. laugh.gif We assumed it'd be locked up somewhere, so he had been trying to pickpocket a key from somebody. No keys, but Bjorn had managed to pickpocket plenty of other useful items; mostly lockpicks. Why would almost the entire staff at the Blue Palace go around carrying lockpicks? *shrugs* Dunno. But now Bjorn's got a half-dozen new ones.

2:41 AM
Gulum-Ei is sufficiently pleased when Bjorn brings him the stolen case of alcohol, but Gulum only gives vague information about "a lady" who tried to negotiate the sale of Goldenglow Estate. So as his superiors had suggested, Bjorn now follows the lizard, to see where he goes.
Lopov
I enjoyed this quest, I still remember it as if I did it yesterday. Bjorn has advantage of being a Nord - if he doesn't know which road to take, he'll swim to his direction.
Acadian
Ghastley – When someone describes Aranxa as the naked Dremora with a bright red pony tail, there are probably very few responses of, “Which one?” tongue.gif

Renee –

Currently trying to recreate my Freija character from Oblivion, the immortal one who challenged the CoC for his Arena title. She's one of the few humans who would have survived, and is also a Nord, so she might want to come "home" to Skyrim.

She arrived at Gweden wearing a grey robe, and apparently unarmed, as she relies on conjuring a bound sword and skimpy armour (enchanted with a shield spell to make up for lack of coverage) with a single custom spell. So now I need the same spell for the Skyrim game.

It will probably have to be a mixture of "bound weapon" with a modified werewolf/vampire/hulk transformation script, so I can get it all to happen together. My first attempt left her unarmed, as there are problems with trying to use leveled lists for bound items. It looks like I'll have to code the weapon selection inside the script, but then the sheathing of the weapon won't dispel the rest.

Meanwhile, I'm playing her without the spell, and manually swapping her equipment, to make sure all the meshes etc. are good. Once the spell works, I'll probably publish the code as a resource, rather than make a mod of my character using it.

Edit: It's generally working, with progressive magical resist damage supplementing the fixed and minimal amount from the outfit, and a levelled Greatsword that self-equips on her back. The last thing I need to do is to allow the spell to toggle back to a robe on demand, instead of having to wait for it to time out. I decided not to attempt the dispel-on-sheath like the bound weapons, as she'd want to use the armour with a bow for times when she can't reach her foes. That should just need a global variable to track the state.

I took a couple of screenshots, but forgot to put them on the web server. kvleft.gif They're there now. In her robe, and in her armour.
Renee
Ha ha je, she conjures some skimpy armor, nice! I love the robes-to-skimpy armor transformation.

I had a character on Xbox who could do something similar. She could switch from foul-smelling necro-robes to ordinary town clothes. I didn't have mods 'cause this was on Xbox, but I could make the change happen in blink of an eye with voice commands.
ghastley
Freija, my immortal Nord from the Oblivion mod, has just reached that annoying level where she's meeting Draugr Deathlords that have the Disarm shout, and she's not yet at a level where it fails. Carrying a reserve weapon, and searching for the dropped ones is getting tiresome.

Then I remember that her weapon is part of her summoned outfit, and she can just dispel and re-cast it all. D'oh! laugh.gif

(Of course, she's really vulnerable in the period where she's reverted to her robe, so she's doing a lot of strategic withdrawals.)

This was all just as I was thinking her outfit was getting OP. The Disarm shout changes all that, and it's looking about right. She is at level 25 and has 240-ish of armour equivalent, no magic resist apart from her Nord racial one for frost. Her summoned weapon is now an Ebony Greatsword of Leeching, and her Two-Handed skill has reached 88.

I've taken her collecting Dragon Priest masks, although she can't complete the set without doing the CoW and Main quests. Those quests seem like the sort that a Nord would do. She won't take sides in the Civil War, as neither really appeal to her. She bought Proudspire, but leaves Jordis at home, and has also made herself a wagon, which she hasn't yet used (no horse). Delphine is still waiting for her to start the Embassy quest. Lydia is still at Dragonreach.

Walking around unarmed in a grey robe without any followers is not attracting the bandits as much as you'd think, and she has more encounters with the Hired Thugs from the Khajiit Heathfires mod than anything else. She'd really like to meet a few Thalmor assassination squads, but they're always rare.
Acadian
Ghastley - Just noticed you edited in a couple shots of Freija. Heh, I didn't notice her face in her 'armor' shot, but the gray robe really showcases her pretty face. Every time a DrugLord shouts at Buffy, she's grateful for her mystic bow, which cannot be disarmed.
ghastley
Darwen and Enilwen are still (alternately) roaming around Skyrim, doing the Bosmer sneaky archer thing. Even though Darwen is taking every other level up in Stamina, she's still getting weighed down by her bear pelt collection, and is desperately in need of a larger home with some storage.

Enilwen isn't collecting pelts, but she's been making things (mainly Dwarven bows) to advance her smithing, as she really wants to make at least an ebony bow to use against dragons. So she has similar issues carrying those (or the materials to make them) from Shor's Stone where the smelter is, back to Riften, where she can sell them and buy smithing lessons. Her preference would be a home with its own forge and smelter. And the forge would need to built with bone in place of the wooden parts, please.

I need to find a nice semi-cave they can both use.
Renee
This one is apparently supposed to be a letter written by Hugh Mann, the warrior guy Isaac met while on the road. It aint much, and I think I was planning on making several of these sort of updates. Didn't happen though. The next update (Labyrinthian) should be more stellar.

I'm glad you two see the humor here. smile.gif That whole update began when I noticed Hugh had sat down and began using a feather pen to write. I suppose this is part of the Amazing Follower Tweaks mod... NPCs do stuff even if we don't tell them to. I saw him writing and that's how the whole thing began.

Renee, I love that Hugh really picked up a pen even though he doesn’t seem to be the correspondent type. Once he did that, you almost had to share his letter! Love it!

My latest character is using a (mod-added) Absorb health spell as her primary weapon, and wearing Dwarven armour (admittedly not a lot of it!) so she wants to collect dwarven scrap metal to smith it up. Imagine the fun, when she discovers that the automata are immune to her fave spell! ohmy.gif

It appears that the way I put the spell together makes it inapplicable to inanimate creatures.
Acadian
Urg. I know what you mean. I had to find a mod to change 'detect 'life' to 'detect any freaking thing of rabbit or larger size that can move!' laugh.gif

I'm cycling round several characters at the moment, looking for inspiration for the Orc Wise Woman quest. I still haven't even come up with a proper name for Munchkin.

She's shorter than Buffy, but probably twice as wide, being vertically challenged, rather than petite.

Censored full portrait.

Comparative height.

Any suggestions?

She's playing unarmed, and wears a pair of spiked Brawlers (added by the Unarmed Helper mod) and a pair of sandals. Of course nothing else fits her without clipping. Her knees and calves poke through most boots! Her reduced height makes it a lot easier to pick other people up and slam them into the ground, as she doesn't have to lift them very far.

The mod makes the mage armor spells add unarmed damage, as well as defense, so she's reasonably well-balanced. So far she hasn't enchanted anything with Fortify Unarmed, but she may need to do so soon, as she's running out of other options to increase her attack. Without an Unarmed perk tree, she doesn't get any increase from experience using the skill, so the mod provides other means.

I had her build the Wagon, but she's too short to drive. She sits embedded in the seat with just her shoulders showing. She's very low in the saddle when she just uses the horse, too, so mostly she walks.

Just for grins, I had her go and try mano-a-mano with the giant outside Largashbur, but she's not ready yet. A few more levels, and I may try again. Does a fist in the knee have the same effect?
Acadian
She's adorable! 'I used to be an adventurer like you; then I took a munchkin in the knee.'

I'm trying to think of a name better than Munchkin. What race is she?
ghastley
She's a Nord, rather at random. I made her just after an Altmer that went the other way, with extra-long legs, and a shortened torso to keep her from being too tall. Talwe (pronounced tall-way) is also in the rotation. I may have been thinking that Nord is the opposite of Altmer in Skyrim?
Acadian
A Nord, eh? Well you know my propensity for alliteration (aka Buffy the Bowgirl). . .

Sonja Skeever-Scourge
Malikah the Mouse
Svelga the Small

tongue.gif
ghastley
She almost became Mini the Moocher, but I thought better of it.

Munchkin can now manage Giants. She's killed both the ones in the Cursed Tribe quest, but there aren't any special animations for player/giant.

She hasn't been in to talk to Balgruuf yet, so no dragons to report on. Dragons need a ranged attack, and she's reluctant to use anything but her fists. She's recruited Illia, and is teaching her unarmed, too.
Acadian
Heh, I think Munchkin's her name then!

For a reluctant ranged attacker, your idea of simply using a ranged follower (like Illia) is a good one. Another possibility is staves. Because of their need for recharging, I find they tend to make the user reluctant to use them and it is easy to RP that they don't take much skill to use. Yet another possibility is learning how to summon a flame atronach to execute ranged attacks when needed.
ghastley
Illia may get dismissed soon. She was really an experiment to see how an unarmed follower works, and since there are none in the game, I just converted the nearest available. I do like the idea that Munchkin might use staves for ranged.

Acadian
Illia is one of those 'orphan' followers. If you don't take her with you, she just pines away in some old dungeon (like Galdir and Erandur). That's why I normally (via a follower management mod) assign Illia as assistant to the absent-minded Wylandriah in Riften.

Areana seems a bit lonely in vanilla as well, but the Azura's temple mod we use gives her plenty of company at Azura's Shrine.
ghastley
I played a bit more with Munchkin, to take a break from the Bosmers. She's starting to fall behind her enemies, as she has no primary attack skill to advance.

Unarmed gets a boost from Fists of Steel in the Heavy Armor tree, but that's a single effect that doesn't improve. The Unarmed Helper mod is adding higher-damage gauntlets, an ability that adds damage equal to player level, and a boost from Mage Armor spells. Since she doesn't fit into armour, the Mage Armour spells are needed anyway. Her Alteration is going up fairly well because of that. She has the Fortify Unarmed enchantment available, and is trying to raise that skill, too.

Because her gauntlets have to be Heavy to get the benefit, she gets some experience in HA from those.

That all means that she has an odd collection of skills - Alteration, Enchanting, Restoration, (needs to heal often), Heavy Armour, and a bit of One-handed to improve dual-wielding speed. None of those are directly advanced by using her fists.

Illia is matching her, rather than being her usual mage self, so I'm gimping them both at once.

Edit: Munchkin made the wagon early on, as the coin-toss gave her that as a base. She can't drive, she's so short she disappears into the driving seat.

She just had her first set of hired thugs, who met her just at the same time as a bunch of Thalmor. The two groups battled it out while she watched, and then she just had to finish off a very much weakened Justiciar.

Re-Edit: I added Dragonborn to her game after her trip to High Hrothgar, and she's started the main quest over there. General Falx Carius was very challenging for a party without a ranged attack of any significance.

I haven't been to Solstheim with any character that built the wagon, so I'm waiting to see if hired thugs will track her there, too.
ghastley
Started a new character to use my Vampirella outfit and spells, and also repeat the unarmed thing, trying NOT to use the brawler gauntlets this time. She's a big Orc, so that the unarmed seems feasible, and has my big Orc hair, rather than the Vampi 'do, but boring black, rather than bright anything.

I'm not sure yet whether she'll do unarmed, and fall back to spells, or use the drain spell until she runs out of magicka, and then fall back to fists. Either way, I need to choose a ranged option, and the former suggests bow, but the latter suggests a ranged spell. All the levels of Absorb Health are short-range concentration spells.

One issue I have with unarmed is that you can't hit a key to unequip a spell. A second press of the hotkey equips it to the other hand, instead of removing it, and they always equip to the left hand. I may look for a mod that changes that, if it's possible.

Renee
Wow, just the fact that you'd even consider going unarmed is interesting. I suppose she can do a bit more than the vanilla roundhouse punches, eh?
Grits
ghastley, if you use SkyUI you can set the favorites groups to unequip hands. You have set their outfit as a group and then when you hit that group button they end up wearing what they’re already wearing (re-equipped) but with empty fists.

I imagine that fight with General Carius was exciting! ohmy.gif

It is too bad Skryim does not have 'unarmed' weapons like Fisto and the Deathclaw gauntlet in the Fallout games. That would make it simpler to go unarmed, and would give you a means to increase your damage at higher levels, to keep up with the monsters. I wonder if something like that could be made with a mod?

Looks like there are several. Unarmed Combat seems pretty straightforward. It adds 'knuckle' weapons, and makes your unarmed attacks work off of the One-Handed skill and perks. It requires Script Dragon though.

New Unarmed Hand to Hand Skill looks pretty decent too. It also adds 'unarmed' weapons, and new unarmed skills.

Martial Arts also adds new animations. I think it would be compatible with any of the other unarmed mods out there, since it only replaces the animations.
ghastley
The one I'm using is Unarmed Helper.

It adds damage in a multitude of ways so you can choose to use any or all of them to adjust. There are higher-damage gauntlets, a boost from an ability (based on character level) and another along with the Mage armor spells. You can enchant more slots with Fortify Unarmed then the original two, and there's a pair of "boxing gloves" at Belethor's to learn it from, without going after the ones in the Ratway.

The combo effect with mage armor is a nice touch. Most of the other boosts come from gauntlets, which are an armor item that negates the perk, so it makes you choose between the extra damage of gauntlets and the extra defense of not wearing them.

I played a bit with an Orc wearing the Vampirella outfit and using only fists + flesh spells. It worked at low levels, at least.

Maybe create/design/add a gauntlet with spikes as a weapon instead of armor; when "equipped" it does X damage that is increased by a percentage (Y) of the Player's unarmed/H2H skill level?

Right now, I'm running Brelyna as a player character, so I can create some screenshots to illustrate Clark's story, but she's taking over, and having fun.

She was travelling with Lydia, so I could have her develop as a pure mage, but she's switched to Mjoll, now that she's got Grimsever back for her. I haven't had her join the College, and meet herself, so she's not doing their quests. I can give her some of the items via console, to match her Chronicles progress, such as the circlet Aren hands out. I lent her the Staff of Magnus to pose with, last time she was in Windhelm, but took it away again after the photo-shoot.

Once she's reached Solstheim levels, I'll have to decide about making an NPC Diablita, or just re-using Marcurio as Clark, as in Gilda's game. It may have to be both, with AFT to let me have a group of three. Vicuña isn't with them enough for me to need her as an NPC.

She's getting impatient for a change of hairstyle, which will have to wait a bit, but I've already found one or two that suit her. I also need her to advance Conjuration faster, so she can summon Frosties. Her Destruction and Alteration are further ahead right now.

I discovered that the guards at Black-briar lodge wear Steel Plate, even at lower levels than bandits do, so Mjoll has some, improved as much as Brelyna can manage. She still has iron boots (but enchanted ones) and Steel gauntlets.

How fun! I wondered right away if she had a new hairstyle. biggrin.gif

Brelyna has Clark (Marcurio) in tow on Solstheim, and we've hit a Catch-22 situation.

She needs higher conjuration skills to survive in Apocrypha, so she needs to train with Talvas, but she can't do that until after the Gardener of Men quest. Up to then, he's outside trying to summon an Ash Guardian, and doesn't have access to his merchant chest, so won't sell (or train). She's read the book Epistolary Acumen, but is stuck in Chapter two, as she can't defeat the lurker and two seekers without a better distraction than a flame atronach. I may have to adjust the difficulty slider.

I gave her a new hairstyle when she got to Adept level and changed to an Adept outfit. That was just before the trip to the island. She'll get another when she gets a bit further along with Neloth's quests and has her own Telvanni robes.

This was what she looked like when she was going around with Mjoll. She didn't do the quest to get the Staff, I just gave it to her for the photo-shoot. She'll end up like this, but I don't yet have a picture of the current style, although this one shows the outfit, with the old hair.
