I had a lot of fun with ESO, thanks mainly to the good people here in the Chorrol guild. I just got to a point in my life that I couldn’t devote enough time to it for it to be worthwhile. As for TES series in general, it’s just been so long between entries that I can definitely understand people moving on, but I am very curious to see how good the next game is. Will the backing of Micro$oft’s financial might make a huge difference? Time will tell.
I've been hearing mixed things about
Starfield, though time will tell if it eventually finds a place for itself in the pantheon (it's not uncommon these days for games to take time, patching, and DLC to really become good). Like a lot of big studios, Bethesda's a bit of a victim of its own success. Their last cultural hit was
Skyrim, and while subsequent games did well financially, they've received mixed receptions from the community. The problem might be that Bethesda's trying to duplicate what they think made
Skyrim successful, but struggling in figuring out exactly what those elements were.
I suspect TES VI will do pretty well, but won't achieve the same status as
Skyrim simply because it'll still be in the older game's shadow, and because the industry has changed a great deal since 2011.
