And I guess thereīs people in Poundlands... But if you go to a Poundland in Norwich you might come across Ashen and if you do, remember to greet him with "bop-beep-bop-beep-beep-bop - Hello!"

I totally miss the 99p shop. Foodwise, Poundland is just boring mainstream stuff (though they do stock good tools), but the 99p had all sorts of interesting pickles and condiments and things like olives stuffed with anchovies. You're lucky to get just a plain jar of olives in Poundland. But we do have a local Lidl that opened recently, so at least I can console myself by feasting on kangaroo stew or reindeer steaks...

So Wednesday- we got 3 inches of snow, which meant I stayed home from work. Now it is important to understand the snow fell in my part of the state, but not in the state capital- so if I want to avoid death and dismemberment, I get to use my vacation. (I have the vacation days, and I am too old to think I am invincible anymore. And even if I am- my 17 year old truck isn't and I don't want to have a car payment).
It did not melt in time for me to feel safe going on the Thursday either- though I felt guilty about that.
So- today- with dire predictions being predicted, but not until late in the day- I roll out at 6:30 and do my hour and a quarter drive to work. Where I find the state capital has declared THEY will be going home at noon. Then- 15 minutes later, they decide, No, they will close down ALL state offices, because it is snowing THERE. Whereas here- where I live and work- we didn't see the first flakes of this storm for another 10 hours...
But hey- paid Friday off- without having to use my vacation.

We got almost 5' at our house, and the snow was still thick enough yesterday afternoon that my son got stuck on our drive and had to walk at least a quarter mile up to the house. So tonight he drove all the way to west Knoxville to work, and if they don't close early I'm going to be worried sick. I am hoping they send them home before the roads ice up.
Tennessee has been declared a state of emergency in advance for the ice about to cometh, urk.

Closing down because of snow?

I donīt think weīve ever done that, despite of how much snow thatīs come. And heavy wind. We just go to work, snow is no excuse here. The concept of closing down because of it boggles my brain. Just look ----->

But donīt feel bad, treyyie. Just enjoy your excuse to be home and enjoy your life

So far this morning I dont see any trees down. We still have power. We didnt get much snow, but we always get the ice. I hope that the other ice-bound Chorrolites are faring well.

My ten years old car ran out of battery today in the morning as we went shopping. At first my dad came with his car and we tried to run it (however this process is called in English) but it didn't work and I had to call assistance, fortunately he managed to do it with his battery so I could drive to a nearest gas station to buy a new battery.
It looks like my car knows that I bought a new car and am supposed to get in two months, that's why he decided to piss me off at least once per month, I had it at a mechanic store monthly since October.

No, we didn't get it that bad; but it is the same storm system that hit us. We were pretty lucky where I live, it did some severe damage in TN, but not where we are. I think the mountains protected us from getting the brunt of it.
