Lol, sounds like a nightmare, although, once you clear out the Iberian Celts you have some good ports and what not.
It’s an economic nightmare alright. Makes me wonder if it’s possible to become a temporary ‘mercenary state’, help allies/“contractors” with their wars and intrigues in return for profit. Quite possibly possible, although since I’m on the iOS I’m gonna have to use cheats lol

In the newer Total War games you can ask a faction for gold to get involved in their war against another faction, which is a good thing to do if you are about to attack that faction anyway (might as well make a little bank for something you are going to do anyway right?). Can’t remember if Rome 1 had this though.
