Not that I can remember how long the batteries in the old Gameboys lasted

If you like long, epic games you should definitely get Zelda: Link�s Awakening.
If you like Disney games, both DuckTales 2 and Darkwing Duck are pretty fun games and you can choose in what order to do the stages.
Home Alone is good enough and Super Mario Land 2 is awesome!
Best of all, these games should be easy to find and cheap to get on ebay and such

I'd second the recommendations of Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Super Mario Land 2.
