@Renee - the guy he's talking to, is Preston Garvey, the leader of Minutemen, one of the factions you can join. He's also a potential companion.

@SubRosa - I think Vinnie "helped" Minutemen because he wanted to experience fighting in the PA and wielding the minigun. He didn't have any reason to kill Minutemen, though.

@Winter Wolf - Minutemen weren't endangered to be killed by Vinnie. He's not evil like Rattler. I mean, Rattler was mad and he killed out of sheer joy and pleasure, while Vinnie is evil like some crime boss, he won't just mindlessly kill people he comes across, unless they stand in his way or he would benefit from their death.

@SubRosa - the bayonet is the most handy for slicing throats. I invested some perks in Weapons Bashing, so if some enemy gets too close, Vinnie deals with it immediately. He's not so good at shooting, and I intend to keep it this way.

@Renee - his shirt can get soaked with blood, if he's taking up lots of damage. In a fight with this raider he probably wasn't injured enough for blood to be visible. Today you'll have an opportunity to see lots of blood on Vinnie's white shirt.

@Renee - Colter was the current leader of Nuka-World, that's right. Vinnie killed him with help of Colter's second-in-command Porter Gage, who revealed to Vinnie a location of the water-squirt gun, which made Colter vulnerable, because his Power Armor was electrically charged.

My last doing Nuka World with Tsuruhime, she ignored Gage's help, and just beat Colter to death with her sword. She was high enough level that it only took about two hits for her to kill him. She was a Sci Fi Ninja Death Machine at that point.

I love Nuka World but clearing out Nuka Town is brutal on Survival Mode. Really gotta make use of the cover system and stealth.

Nuka World raiders look all space-age and stuff. Definitely not the scrap-wearing ones we got in Maryland / DC.

@SubRosa - I assume that Tsuruhime didn't stop at Colter and Porter Gage fell next.

@Kane - I imagine that clearing out the Galactic Zone must be brutal as well. Until one finds some star cores to shutdown some robots, that area is difficult even on easier difficulties.

@Renee - Vinnie thought his clothes would impress raiders, but realized that they lost a taste for good fashion. He'll switch to some raider outfit sooner or later as well.

@Winter Wolf - sure, I get it, I'd do the same if someone posted screenies of Far Harbor. I must say, however, that Nuka-World is for now exceeding my expectations. I read some reviews of it, maybe that was a mistake, and I approached it with mixed feelings. But I assume that most reviewers see Nuka-World as just another DLC which involves lots of shooting (which it does), but there are tons of hidden things / quests / locations to explore, which make this DLC a great one. The companion you can hire there, is good too, has lots of interesting stuff to say at various places / quest points.

Quite some funny stuff / coincidences happened while taking some of the above screenies. In the first screenie I didn't even see Porter Gage until I was uploading it to the Imgur. In the 2nd screenie I wanted to make a Lopov shot of Vinnie but noticed Gage and the skeleton in the background, so I decided that capturing them would be a better choice. In the mansion pic the little girl can be seen at one of the windows, again, I didn't notice her at that time. She appears inside the mansion at a few occasions. Last, but not the least, Vinnie didn't intend to kill Hubologists in the first place but they all opened fire on him as he logged into their computer. Their last mistake, attacking Vinnie like that.

Most of the reviews I have read have been mixed as well, very nice to hear that you are enjoying Nuka World. With most of the add-ons related to settlement building, that was sorely needed.


Yesterday I started using the Armstrong and Duke companion mod for FO4. Has anybody here used that mod? The accent on the Armstrong voice actor was quite good and the companions lay the smackdown like nobody else. Duke is a Super Mutant with a mini gun so you can imagine the results....

@Renee - you can see the girl in the 3rd window from the left above the Grandchester sign. You definitely need to enlarge the screenshot to see it.

The raider outfit he's wearing currently, isn't really upscale, but it fits Vinnie because it retains his fat body shape. Quite some other outfits I've tried, made him look thinner. You'll see it in a next batch of screenies.

@SubRosa - believe it or not, but Vinnie already agreed to help the Hubologists. He didn't intend to get hostile with them but as soon as he used their computer, which wasn't locked, and I think it wasn't owned either, they opened fire on him. I didn't reload, though.

He left the lone young guy that lives in the trailer right outside Nuka-World alive and he also left alive the family of three that lives on a homestead south of Nuka-World, but then crickets attacked the homestead and killed them all.

So it seems like she's doing the Unarmed thing, which fits the Stormcrow story. Ha! She'll even be able to fly! ... I bet there is even some scientific NPC in the game who can play the role of Gadget.

Now we got a party. Lopov, Kane, and Rosa toons characters.

Lopov: January is my current fiction character a.k.a. Stormcrow. If you ever played Shadowrun, she is a physical adept. If not, she's a magician who uses her magical ability to improve her physical abilities, rather than to cast spells. She's a superhero, with a great deal of martial arts skills. I put 10 points into Strength when I created her. I also took a trait with the Trait Mod I am using, that gives her additional unarmed damage, in return for her having penalties with ranged weapons.

I did create two special weapons for her. The first is an invisible set of brass knuckles that I called Martial Arts. I made them weightless, and fully upgradable. Instead of needing Gun Nut or Blacksmith to upgrade it, it goes off your ranks in Iron Fist.

The second is a similar invisible weapon called Lightning Bolt. It works like the Tesla Rifle, but is invisible. The idea here is that she is calling down lightning, something which the fictional character will eventually be able to do. Her name is Stormcrow after all...


Renee: A Jetpack is on Jan's 'To Do' list. I modded the game to put one in Arc Jet Systems. That way it can be immersive for my appropriate characters to get one there.

@SubRosa - Vinnie realized that his pre-war clothes will no longer impress anyone, in contrast of how it was before the war. And since he teamed up with raiders, he decided to wear like one.

I might install the mod which turns Fizz Top into a proper settlement as well.

Super sledges are deadly, the only problem is that it takes a long time to swing them, so fast enemies often interrupt Vinnie's attacks, so he needs to resort to VATS.

According to Renee, Vinnie is just unapologetically ugly.

But that's how he must have looked in late 20s / early 30s. I fiddled with the creator and removed all textures that make him look old, I also removed rough and pocked face presets, all scars, eye shaders and last - I made his nose unbroken. I guess that in his youth Vinnie was quite a looker! Looks like that the harsh life he lives, portrays on his face through all the years.

@SubRosa - we've encountered the Mirelurk Deep King for the first time. It wasn't a pleasant encounter.

As soon as that deathclaw was dealt it, the matriarch attacked but I didn't take any screenies of the battle. She was far more dangerous than the regular deathclaw.

What a silly-looking place, Kiddie Kingdom.

I know I am rather obsessed with Vinnie in mobster clothes, but PLEASE take a shot of him wearing that top hat + his mobster outfit.

The sprayers in Kiddie Kingdom get really annoying. I notice Vinnie is wearing the hazmat suit to deal them. Otherwise it is fun to slug it out with ghouls in melee.

That is the first time I have ever seen one of those raider flags, since I have always killed the raiders.

Vinnie should keep the top hat. He should do the tux as well.

@Renee - clothes can get dirty if some enemy like a bloatfly peppers you with its excretions, they can also get bloody if receiving lots of damage.

@SubRosa - my favorite part in the KK was when Vinnie disabled sprayers in the tunnels, but as soon as he came out, Oswald turned them back on. When he came to the KK for the first time, we realized that he won't be able to deal with high radiation levels just with Rad-X and RadAway, so he returned to the Fizztop Grille and put on the hazmat suit, which he found in the Power Plant IIRC.

Vinnie liked the simplicity of "caveman" Cito, who was raised by ghoulrillas, so he took him along for a ride through the park. Once gatorclaws were dealt with, he explained to Cito that some of his friends are going to move to the park now (raiders). Vinnie passed a difficult speech check, so Cito agreed that new people to come to the park, and as a reward he gave Vinnie his slugger, which is supposedly the most powerful blunt melee weapon in the game. Looks like it's back to using the slugger for Vinnie.

The gatorclaws were fun.

I think the caveman looks a lot like Jason Momoa.

@SubRosa - the gatorclaws were fun indeed. I got a feeling that they were more tough to bring down than regular deathclaws, on the other hand they weren't as strong.

Cito was fun to have around. I'm thinking of hiring him as a companion with mods, because you can't recruit him anymore once the quest finishes.

Maybe the gatorclaw was hoping that its smile would make Vinnie change his mind and not hammer it.

I found a new outfit for Vinnie on the Nexus, but then he and Gage stepped into Dry Rock Gulch and Vinnie got the cowboy's outfit from Sheriff Eagle. I had some troubles deciding which outfit to stick to, in the end I went with the cowboy's one, because the one from the Nexus makes him look thinner, there's some clipping present and boots look a bit odd.

Vinnie liked several outfits in the Dry Rock Gulch, in fact he liked performing various tasks for protectrons that serve there. Compared to other places, especially the Kiddie Kingdom or the Safari Adventure, taking over Dry Rock Gulch was very easy, with bloodworms being much less dangerous than creatures from the other parks.

Gaming with Logan gave me an idea to recreate a character from FO3 in the Commonwealth, let's see if I can make it work.

I port characters from one game to another all the time, so I think it would be great to see Ally Gator in Boston, or Lucius Skyrimwalker.

Not even Logan knew what he was shooting at, but based on sounds he assumed it was a Super Mutant.

Surprisingly, water in that lake was not very irradiated. I'd think that being as close to the Glowing Sea would make it rad full, but in fact some water bodies far away from the Glowing Sea are way more irradiated.

@Renee - well, a man's gotta protect what's important, right? Better protected crotch than shoulders.
