Kayla just met Gwilin in Ivarstead. His sunny personality cheered her right up! biggrin.gif

Benor Santori, my Dunmer merchant, is still trekking his way toward Solitude. He spent about an hour deciding whether to go by the salt marshes or risk it in the Karth rapids. He cleared out a bandit camp and cleaned up a tidy profit from it. Wish him luck on his journey to the legion!
Renee
Goood luck, Benor!

Xbox Skyrim Jerric and Darnand (Marcurio) are helping out some guys they met at Fort Dawnguard. They’re taking the long way around the mountains, of course.

Here’s something I hadn’t heard before: “Either I’m drunk or you’re naked. Possibly both.” Thanks for that, Jerric!

He hasn’t met Gwilin yet. They went back out of town the way they came in, planning to unload some junk in Riverwood. The Ivarstead stop resulted from Maven being a nasty bi— her usual self to him in Riften followed by an incident in the Meadery where NO ONE would sell him any mead. So he helped a guy out hoping to get a drop on delivery.

Good luck to Benor! The marsh can make for a pretty rough shortcut. blink.gif

Edit:

Oh! Also Jerric tried a crossbow. He hated it. Didn’t like having both hands busy and his feet planted. Might be a different story if the crossbow allowed a sprinting power attack. tongue.gif
Renee
I agree with ya about Maven!

I have a character who I've created by not gamed with yet. He's gonna be an archer and I have a feeling he will also like crossbows, but I'm not sure yet.
Rohirrim
So, Benor joined up with the legion, and he's now Tribune. I used the face Changer (I'm on console) to make some corrections and one important change. Benor and his sister, Estarael, are now the heirs to the Santori estate and title, as such, I gave them both the tattoo of their house, the sort of staggered bars in a snaking pattern across the cheeks. It's black for now, but when their father dies they'll wear it a different color. Benor's taken to putting on airs and wearing a circlet with his elven armor. We (Benor, Jenassa and Meeko) took a Stormcloak wagon, and that gold is the start of the Santori treasury biggrin.gif

Hulda called Kayla a little elf.

What.

Trey the Nord met this cute girl under... peculiar circumstances. If by "peculiar" one means- "imprisoned by her mother for hundreds of years because her father wants to use her blood to wreak major havoc."

OK so fine- she had "Daddy issues." What girl doesn't?

Of course when "Daddy" is Vampire Lord, and Trey is a member of the Lawn Dart sorry- Dawnguard...

Ah well- whoever said the course of young (in Trey's case- not so much the girl- what with the "imprisoned for centuries" thing) lust was smooth?

Ooooh, really? Have fun! I loved the DB questline in Skyrim smile.gif

As I plan on buying the Legendary edition of Skyrim next week I am debating whether or not to bring my character Evalin into that game. I know that she would have a field day exploring the ruins of Skyrim tongue.gif

Today in Skyrim Laria the female redguard mage and J'Zargo headed south from the college to Falkreath hold in search of Azura's Star only to get themselves stuck in a corridor and blown to pieces by a flame wielding master necromancer. Damn frost atronachs and follower AI!

Today Mielikki finished up exploring Solstheim. Or at least as much of it as she could. I used some console commands to avoid doing the Dragonborn MQ, but it turns out I missed a few things, that resulted in Neloth basically not working, and all of his quests along with him. I think I have all the kinks ironed out now, and I think I might just start her game over again in Solstheim.

Dawnguard Jerric got his armor today. Darnand (Marcurio) is still dressed in rather a motley assortment, but soon they’ll be able to pick up a matching hood and hopefully a summoning staff for him. They’re focused on the Dawnguard questline. With Jerric’s summoning and Darnand’s spells they’ve had no problem going after vampires right off the cart rather than waiting for level 10.

Oh, Jerric bought an armored troll. Thankfully they’re at too low a level for Marcurio’s Chain Lightning. I wonder if the troll will attack him or just run off when it gets hit. I guess we’ll find out!

Lildereth has arrived in Skyrim. She had to go through the opening sequence in Helgen since I haven't made alternate arrangements yet. She was my first character to outrun Hadvar and enter the keep through the closest door before Ralof had come anywhere near her. She is not going to hang around in the open waiting for a bunch of Nords, lol.

She took a looong time to walk to Riverwood. Ralof tagged along. He seemed to think they were pals after the dustup under Helgen. She arrived in Riverwood in full darkness!

Here's a picture of Lildereth contemplating the best route to Whiterun. She is not thrilled about the lack of trees.

In other news Jerric has also infiltrated my laptop. He had a few firsts as well. First character to fall out of the tower, I am not kidding. He had to run around outside until he figured out he should just go back in and then jump.

Also there was another spider right at the exit, and he accidentally woke up the bear. I have a feeling that his game will not be boring.

That does sound like it's going to be an interesting game, though, no doubt about that. There will be dragons. Dragons everywhere.

P.S. I also initially misread 'dustup under Helgen' as 'dubstep under Helgen'. I think I've been playing too much Saint's Row IV wink.gif

Lil will probably like my Animal Friend mod. It makes playing a woodsy Bosmer much easier when all the animals are not attacking you.

Aww, the poor 'Lofster is getting no love from the Bosmer! laugh.gif C'mon, give him a break Lil, at least he doesn't have rocks in his mouth like Haddie!

I have done the opening tutorial so many times that I have experimented with purposely missing the tavern next door, and jumped down on the ground instead to see what happens. Likewise, I have tried just not going into the tower to begin with and staying in the courtyard. You can even use Ralof and Hadvar as training dummies. They will never go hostile toward you no matter how many times you hit them during the tutorial. Eventually I just started doing the speed run like Lil did, before I downloaded Alternate Start - Live Another Life

It wasn’t exactly today, but Skyrim Lildereth made a big change. She accidentally stole a bottle of wine while attempting to talk to the bartender in Falkreath, and the guard nearly killed her before she could surrender. She’s been wearing an outfit like the one she wore in Oblivion which is technically armor but looks like clothing. The Skyrim version has been problematic. So after the swording (and resulting fine) she went back to the forge and picked out some barbarian looking gear with hide pants and a few plates. BIG change of heart. But at least she’s in Skyrim.
King Coin
I guess she's not dressing like Aravi any time soon.

I spent a few days with Skyrim Abiene, and while she’s not exactly busy she does have some non-killing things to do.

She lives at Breezehome in Whiterun (alternate start mod) while she’s in Skyrim working as a healer at the Temple of Kynareth.

On her first day she walked around town and met her neighbors, had dinner at the Bannered Mare, and got verbally abused by the guards on the way home in the dark. One guard followed her the whole way asking if she was a thief or a vampire and suggesting that only the wrong sort of people were out after dark. She doesn’t have any torches or the right spells, so it actually was very dark. She got plenty of sleep.

The next day she decided to mix a few potions and sell some of the junk that came with the house to supplement her income. Here she is outside the gate in questionable weather talking to Ri’saad. There was a lot of lightning so she chickened out and didn’t go very far picking flowers.

Then she started work at the Temple. Here she is ready for her first day on the job.
SubRosa
Poor Abbie, what an awful day! Those guards need a talking to! Maybe she ought to hire the Dark Brotherhood to sort them out? wink.gif

I like the picture of High Hrothgar wreathed in clouds.

Maybe adding a few flowers to her hair might cheer Abiene up?
King Coin
I like that blue robe. Aravi has one too!
Grits
Ooo, flowers! That’s so pretty! She’ll have to keep smacking Darnand’s hand away when he’s making potions. He would name that mod Auxiliary Alchemical Ingredient Storage: Hair. tongue.gif

I never would have thought to give her that robe, but it was in a dresser already and it’s perfect for her. smile.gif

Funnily enough Abiene is a blast to play as a non-combatant. Now that she has Darnand, of course. She was pretty stressed out all by herself.

Fleur tried to get herself an Azura's star, but the game crashes to desktop whenever she hits one of the dremora that are summoned inside the star. There isn't room to try and run past them to get at the mage, so I reloaded an earlier save and postponed that quest while I figure out the problem. She's building a home at Lakeside instead.

Just found out how to use soul gems for recharging. In Oblivion, it's select the gem, and then choose what to refill. In Skyrim, it's the other way round, and I wasted a lot of time assuming it worked the Oblivion way, looking for the key to open the item list for a gem.
Renee
Lord Haaf-Mersey is travelling back to Falkreath with Serana, and they've both just retrieved an important item from the Soul Cairn.

Yes, LHM still lives. I haven't played Skyrim since June, so the game feels fresh again. I forgot how curious Serana is; she's always moving around looking at stuff, playing with alchemy tables, swinging a mug along with tavern music, etc.

When LHM gets back to his manor-house, it's going to be a zoo. Lucia will be there, but also Mjoll the Lioness (LHM's wife, Motormouth Mjoll), and the Falkreath steward (I forget her name). Haaf-Mersey will be surrounded by three dangerous women, and harmless little Lucia.

Lord Haaf-Mersey
Level: 45

Days Passed: 385
Gold Found: 170,709

It's such a shame I'm not as inspired to write about Skyrim like I was a year ago. Back then if I didn't write up my gaming sessions, they felt rather 'empty', which is why I used to write a lot more.

Anyways, Lord Haaf-Mersey has returned to Lakeview Manor finally, and this time he's brought Serana with him. It's kinda hilarious because LHM is now surrounded by 4 females + a bunny rabbit. The house now consists of Serana, Mjoll the Lioness, Lucia, and Rayya the Redguard. I have nicknamed Rayya "Miss Overkill" because she simply pwns everything in her path, leaving little for LHM to do in her wake sometimes. rolleyes.gif I have thought of including her as LHM travels towards Fort Dawnguard, but seriously, she's way too good as a fighter, especially after the Lord improved her dual scimitars. I think they now do some ridiculous damage like 47 pts. per strike apiece

I wanted to write up some loony tale about Haaf-Mersey and his girl-gang, but like I said i'm not feeling very inspired. "Motormouth Mjoll" is still LHM's wife. She often glitches out for some reason, and starts walking in place throughout the house, while saying "It's good to see you my love!" She really wants to go adventuring again, but I (and Haaf-Mersey) simply cannot tolerate her constant motor-mouth; the constant comments she makes, many of which are repetitive.

I think LHM might actually take Serana with him to Riften/Dawnguard. She's the most tolerable, and her magic skills compliment LHM's lack of aggressive magic.
SubRosa
A few days ago in Skyrim Persephone entered Riften for the first time. She got the usual forced dialogue from Maul just inside the gate, and tried to ignore him. "You better walk away," he says. That was the absolute wrong response to an undead warrior. Persephone filled her hands with Malediction, and in a few moments the Black-Briars were looking for a new loudmouthed thug. Sapphire came running in from the bridge where she usually taunts Shadr and attacked. Scratch one member of the Thieves Guild. Then Brynjolf came running in, and the Thieves Guild was minus one more member.

Yes, I have modded the game to remove their essential statuses.

There was no bounty for any of the three killings, even though it was all in broad daylight, right in the middle of the street. Afterward a guard walked by, and said: "Welcome to Riften, home of the Thieves Guild. Or so they'd have you believe. It's all lies. They're just thugs... vermin, creeping around the Ratway." laugh.gif

The next day Persephone was exploring the area south east of Riften, and came across Black-Briar Manor. The guards outside immediately attacked her. So after finishing them off, Persephone went inside and killed everyone. Darryl's other brother Darryl was of great help too. Unfortunately, none of the Black-Briars themselves were present, just more thugs.

Abiene and Lildereth had the same item on their To-Do list today. Go get NPC Jerric.

I knew I put him in the Dragonsreach dungeon, but I was a little surprised to find him actually locked inside a cell. His friends were not surprised. He probably wasn’t either. Lil got him out in about two seconds. Abiene can’t open Adept locks yet (she uses spells), but she was not concerned. She just stood there and waited. Sure enough a minute or two later a guard came by and opened the door.

Abiene put her traveling outfit back on and they hit the road to Riverwood. It takes a long time to get anywhere with her because unless something is biting her Abiene always walks. Always. When they got to the Sleeping Giant, Darnand and Jerric wasted no time starting the celebration. (Jerric was one step inside the door.) Abiene was slightly appalled by the bard. Her Dibellan esthetic does not embrace Skyrim’s tavern singing.
SubRosa
Jerric in prison! How perfect! His cell looks pretty nice. It has a Nord-sized mead barrel in it!

I see you have learned how to mod clothing! Or did you just use the Help function to get the IDs of the Jarl Clothing for Abiene? Either, way, she looks good in it. That has always been one of my favorite Sky outfits, along with the Wedding Dress.
Grits
Jerric does look right at home in there. Only in Skyrim are there mead barrels in the drunk tank. I laughed when I saw him.

I think that’s the outfit Abiene made on a modded loom that gives you access to a bunch of the game’s robes and high-end clothing. I love it, too. It’s called something like Fur Trimmed Cloak so we thought it was something different, but with that fur cape it turned out to be perfect for her. At least until she meets Jarl Ravencrone. whistling.gif Abiene wears the pleated shoes that I gave her with the console so she would not be barefoot. She is very specific about her footwear. She is not going to clomp around in man boots. Thankfully that ranger armor she wears on the road (we now have three “ranger” sets in the Leather crafting menu, ugh) also comes with slender-ankled boots.

Oh! Also she now has flowers for her hair. wub.gif Awesome suggestion! And of course she liked the red ones best and there’s no dress that has that shade of red. So I had to find one for her. Actually several so she had a choice. Whose idea was it to give Abiene her own game? tongue.gif

She’s headed to Winterhold with the guys next. I’m sure that will result in some actual fur cloaks being added. I would love to play Frostfall, but I’m worried about melting my laptop. Abiene is cold even without the mod. That little cloth cape she wears around Riverwood isn’t going to cut it for long.
SubRosa
If you are worried about your laptop not being able to handle it, why not upgrade to a better desktop? You do not have to spend thousands of dollars for one that can play Skyrim. For $500 this guy would make a good start. But the integrated intel video card would not cut it. You would need to add something like this video card and you will have a more than adequate gaming machine for $600. Or go a little cheaper and get this humble fellow, and add the same video card. or spend a few hundred more and get this one, who is perfect straight out of the box.

Thank you for those suggestions! Space is my biggest issue in our crowded house. Plus I have to stand up at the computer since the spine issue, so I use a makeshift workstation on various tables and counters. But where there’s a will there’s often a way, so maybe by next year I’ll have a solution. (Also this year’s budget is long gone. Loooong gone, lol.) It’s encouraging to know a desktop is nearly within reach.

Abiene and the fellas took a side trip to Windhelm which kicked off a few small adventures. Abiene is as bad as Jerric for talking to people and offering to help.

The main purpose of the detour was to pick up some cold weather gear for her, which they did.

Now they’re sort of taking a shortcut back to the road. The first hundred yards or so were pretty dangerous. Here’s picture of Jerric’s and Darnand’s summonings after yet another tussle in the snow.

ETA: I should explain how unusual it is to see both summonings peacefully together. Most fights end with one of the guys battling the other one’s summoning. Usually it’s Jerric vs. flame atronach. rolleyes.gif

Aravi actually completed those in reverse order as Khan has. She didn't have any trouble with March of the Dead, however Kharjo took the brunt of the fight.

Something rather surprising today, Aravi (who usually wields a pair of swords) picked up a two handed weapon. With stronger enemies, she falls back on her one-handers, but she's been terrorizing the local bandit population around Aravi manor with a greatsword.

Something else you might want to consider is the Wyrd Way of computing. IIRC, his PC is hooked up to his tv, and he plays laying on a pile of pillows on the floor. Its like playing an X-Box, only with all the advantages of a PC.

Is Abbie's robe armored? In this latest shot it looks like it has mail links over the torso. Her new cloak/hat looks very warm. Too bad you cannot put Kyne's Peace on a item, you could say it makes the other animals think the wearer is one of them. If I was any better at scripting in Skyrim I could do that by adding and removing the player to an animal-friendly faction when you put it on or take it off. That is how I did the Animal Friend amulet in Oblivion. But this papyrus thing they do in Skyrim makes my eyes hurt.

I have similar problems with just one summons. I am always loath to summon Darryl around other folks because that greatsword or battle axe he carries is almost certain to clip a friendly, and then the fight is on!

Welcome to the two-hander club! I think they are my favorite weapons in Oblivion and Sky. The trick is to use your reach to stay out of the range of their weapons, but still inside the range of your own. And timing. Persephone goes troll-hunting with Malediction and usually they can never even hit her.

Yep, this what he does. smile.gif It's so unusual. I think gaming like this would give me some spine problems, but that's just me. I like gaming in bed. Usually I'll sit up if my char's at an important moment combat-wise or quest-wise, but if they're just walking from Point A to Point B (and the adventuring is kinda 'meh'), I'll lie in bed.

My biggest prob is getting the pillow propped under my head just right, so I can see the TV screen properly. And even then, after awhile I could possibly get a crick in my neck.

IIRC all the atronachs are immune to their own major attack, so two flame atronachs, for example, wouldn't care about fireballs from the other. Mixed types might be an issue. And it's much more likely that a melee follower will get up close to an enemy and get hit. A mage follower is going to be out of the line of fire most of the time.

Meanwhile, I started a new test character - Pala - to run through my Bear Rider quests without any DLC's in place. She joined the College of Winterhold so that she could get the Gauldur Amulet, but she's avoiding all the other "guilds" - except the Bear Riders, of course.

I'll probably have to start another test character soon, as I don't think I have saves at all the place I need one. Maybe a Khajiit, as they need different helmet meshes, and I need to make sure I specified the headbands and circlets correctly.

March of the Dead was tough for Mikke, and she was plowing through most fights by then. She was traveling with Torvar who took a knee as soon as the fun started. Good luck to Khan and Bran! I love Severin Manor.

Yes, that’s kind of a long mail vest with a tunic under it. I downloaded it for Lil to try, but Abiene grabbed it instead. It’s perfect for her. Abiene is surprisingly fun to play with followers. Surprising because she has no offense at all other than summoning. A sabre cat can pretty much bite her in half, so she needed something that at least looks a little protective. The sabre cats really go after her, too. Most things are distracted by the guys. Of course Abiene had an elegant solution to that problem. Now she can summon her own sabre cat thanks to your Nature Summoning mod! I love those fur cloaks. Jerric has a grey one now. Soon Darnand should have one, too.

Exactly this. Jerric gets right in the way of the fire-throwers. Of course Jerric as a player character has some spell absorption, so getting hit with friendly fire is a bonus for him. NPC Jerric does not have that advantage. (I gave him the Atronach perk, but it backfired on me since some other mods use spell effects to do non-magical things.) Anyway I often get to watch NPC Jerric chase down an atronach while uttering threats. I imagine NPC Darnand palming his face while this occurs. Abiene is always ready with a Calm spell in case things get out of hand, but so far the guys have not let grudges extend past killing each other’s summonings.

ghastley, is Pala a Nord?

Abiene visited the College of Winterhold and learned a new spell to open Adept locks. She can’t cast it yet and also couldn’t afford the Expert version, so a return trip will eventually be on the schedule.

Abiene really takes her time looking around and talking to people, so it’s been fun to see what her followers (Jerric and Darnand) do to pass the time waiting for her. Darnand decided to catch up on some reading while Abiene was listening to Mirabelle.

After they finished up at the College Abiene wanted to find the doom stone that would let her reliably open more difficult locks. She has come across one or two chests that she couldn’t open. This bothers her a lot. If she’s going to risk life and limb (not to mention getting cold and really dirty) going into some awful tomb or cave, she is for darn sure going to see everything that’s in there. First character of mine who has taken the blessing of the Tower Stone.

They made it to Dawnstar as the sun set and delivered their note. Of course Abiene had to look through the shops. Somewhat disappointing, but she agreed to help another Skyrim citizen. Also while they were there Jerric appeared to consider a career change. Darnand made potions the whole time. He still does not have a fur cloak, so I imagine they were Resist Frost potions. tongue.gif

@Grits: Yes, Pala's a Nord, named for her ancestor in my Oblivion version. She's currently collecting potential followers, so I can test the recruiting quest I'm making. Housecarls are the simple cases, so she's bought Breezehome (Lydia) and Honeyside (Iona), and found Mjoll in Riften while she was doing the latter. Trying to raise the cash for Proudspire Manor in Solitude, but can't sell things fast enough because of the merchant gold limits. She's done the Jarl's quest, but not yet done all the city-folk's favours.

She'll be looking for other followers, so I can check it all out with Light Armor users (Jenassa? as an archer, she'd be a good test), and at least one Mage (Brelyna Maryon?). Usually accompanied by Mjoll, as she's essential, and I don't have to worry about needing a replacement follower. I should probably post a picture of the two of them, now I've made Mjoll a suit of Plate.

If I can get Fleur to load up with the Bear Riders mod replacing her own custom equipment one, I'll revisit her to test recruiting Rayya, and Aranea Ienith from Azura's Shrine, both of whom are eligible in her game. It may mean remaking her outfit at the Riders Forge, but she has spare ingots etc. to do so.

Khan is back at Heli-who-ha Hall, having put March of the Dead on hold for now. I tend to ignore the in-game calendar and use the real-world one, so we're gathering our quite prodigious wheat harvest, grinding that into flour, and then storing away the resulting bread for winter. I've decided he (and his family, including the Dovahteam*) won't eat as much meat during winter, as it would become more scarce. I'll also try to not do as much expansion-building in one day, taking breaks to warm up, eat, sleep, etc. Sooooooooo....cabbage soup, anyone? biggrin.gif

*Khan, Bran, and whoever the follower is at the moment.

I've always wanted to find a good party in Elder Scrolls, and now I got one. smile.gif

No, not that kind of party! Lord Haaf-Mersey has recently started travelling with Rayya and Serana. It's the 'dream team' (the party) I've always wanted. The ladies do a lot of the work (trolls, wolves, that sort of thing), and if there happens to be multiple enemies, LHM can now engage one of these (or more than one) on his own terms.

LHM doesn't use a bow or any sort of Destruction magic, he's only limited to close melee attacks. Sword 'n' board! Rayya (whom I call "Miss Overkill") on the other hand carries a magical bow, and Serana of course knows lots of magic. Either of these ladies can also switch to hand-weapons if the situation calls for it.

This may seem like overkill, but I am ensuring that LHM will live to a ripe old age. santaclaus.gif

You have almost gotten to a Baldur's Gate sized adventuring party! Start playing on PC, and you can actually do that. Take a look over at Grits' latest posts in the Oblivion topic. She has an entire army of characters tromping around Cyrodiil!

SUBROSA I DID IT !!! SOrry for the all-caps but I DID IT!! My FIRST MODS!!! They are for Sims 3, but holy moses I totally get it! Modding is addicting! huh.gif Pretty soon I'll be modding ES games.

sorry that's way off-topic, I just had to share that with somebody, at least! ... I'll certainly have some sort of party for certain characters. smile.gif Some will be loners, others will have a party around them! Aww, this is gonna be so good for DiD! I'll be able to surround a weak low-level character with minions. As my character climbs in Level, he/she will become more confident!

Sorry. biggrin.gif

Yes, please! Or if you’ve already posted one I just haven’t found it yet. I am very behind these days. wacko.gif

Rohirrim, I love that calendar notion. I miss pumpkins in Skyrim. They’re all over the place right now in my Oblivion games.

Renee, CONGRATULATIONS!! I can’t wait to hear what you do with your TES games. happy.gif Your imagination has been inspiring for a long time, and now you can bring your ideas to life. Yay!

SubRosa, that same army is walking back and forth between Lakeview and Whiterun right now. NPC Abiene and NPC Lildereth have finally joined the gang (woo hoo!! biggrin.gif), and everyone has to go gather up everyone else. It’s quite a crowd trying to pass all of the deer on that road. Now some of them need to stay home!

Lord Haaf-Mersey and his women (Serana and Rayya) are on their way to Winterhold to finally get a book called The Wild Elves to Urab-gro-Shub.

I suppose I could have written a PhonAntiPhon and just said "somewhere south of Winterhold".
