She should be getting access to some pretty cool spells now right? I have a pretty low level Dunmer that carries a shield and throws firebolts. It's pretty fun to whack someone in the face and then burn it off.
Heather V
Today after much deliberation I decided to bring Jihl into Skyrim.
I decided to take a break from Oblivion but couldn't bear leaving Jihl, so I created her.
I wanted to follow the Skyrim timeline so I pretended that she was sent to the future by powerful magicks as there is an event that she alone can stop; although she is unsure of what that event is.
The journey to the future made her hair go blonde and her skin paler, and she looks very cute (I'll try and upload a pic later)
Lady Saga
That is good, Heather V. Glad you are with us. smile.gif

Morndas, 1:18 PM, 6th of Frostfall

Days Passed: 50

"I'm on a pilgramage to the Shrine of Azura, the goddess of Twilight. If you will excuse me".

This was said by a rather handsome Dunmer man Skankee Krahk-ho met just minutes after leaving Winterhold.

"Azura? You speak of the Daedric goddess?"

"The shrine is located just southwest of Winterhold on top of a mountain. Here, let me mark it on your map".

As the man walks, Miss Skank cannot help but follow him. She has spent the last 3 days in Winterhold, where she walked into the village with over 2,600 gold, and walked out with less than 100. She has emerged with four new spells in her spellbook, from the Destruction and Conjuration schools: Ice Storm, Frost Rune, Fire Rune, and a spell which lets her re-animate more powerful dead.

Skank had recently run into a couple of necromancers a few days earlier, travelling the road. It was dark and she could not recognize them from afar, so she wanted to see if they were from her lost group of Cyrodiilic travellers. Turns out they were not, and they were also hostile. sad.gif They would not let her join up with them. Instead, they both attacked her.

And they both died! Serves them right!

But as she walks behind this dark elf, this Dunmer who's on his way to worship Azura, Skank is happy to have somebody to travel with.

plus...I wanna see where this man will wind up. Is it really going to be the shrine of Azura? I am curious. What will he do once he gets there?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2:17 pm:
The duo are attacked by a giant snow bear. It goes for the Azura worshipper first, until he can barely stand, then it comes for Skank. It took her several tries, but she finally got a Fear spell properly aimed at the bear. ...And it bounced right off him! YIKES!

The bear got a couple swings upon Skank, and her health was not looking so good. Frantically, Skank had run up on top of a rock boulder, and cast a Fire Elemental downwards, while drinking a couple health potions. The potions she has been making have improved drastically over the past few weeks, so 2 potions is all it takes to heal most of the way up.

This part of the battle was really neat. I thought the worshipper dude ran away, but he pretty much did the same thing Skank did; merely found a better place to be, while he healed up and took a more defensive position. He also started throwing lightning bolts from afar!

2:47 pm
Finally the bear died, and the pair began walking together again. smile.gif

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3:21 pm:
It is snowing hard. Skankee thinks she sees some sort of structure in the distance, and as the two near, she can see it is a statue. A very LARGE statue.

"Oh. She is so beautiful. Why place her up here in this barren remote cold? "

4:43 pm
The man walks slowly, too slow for Skank. And he keeps reminding her that he's "on a pilgramage to the Shrine of Azura", as if she is dumb or something. She starts to get irked by the man, and decides to run ahead.

when she finally gets to the Shrine of Azura, she sees another figure present, already praying to her Goddess. A woman dark elf.

"So this is the Shrine to Azura?" Skank asks.

"Azura has seen your coming traveler. It is not curiousity but fate that has led you here".

"Azura has seen my coming? Of what do you speak, fair elf?"

"Azura has given me the gift of foresight. I had a vision of you walking up the steps to this altar, long before you were born...." the woman, her name being Aranea Lenith, explained. "You have beeen chosen to be her champion. I know it is unexpected, but do not worry. It will all unfold quickly, as she has predicted.

"Of what do you speak? Champion? Azura wants ME to be her champion?"

Normally, Skank has no interest in helping others, especially the Jarls of Skyrim. She has no interest in becoming a bounty hunter. But to do works for one of the Gods?

"You must go to a fortress endangered by water, yet untouched by it. Inside you will find an elven mage who can turn the brightest star into darkness..."

...she rambles on a few moments. As Skank listens intently, she learns she is to go back to the very place she just came from, and speak to an elven mage there.

"It is so cold, me lady. But I shall do as you bid".

Skankee Krahk-ho is really curious about Azura, and any masters of Oblivion for that matter. She needs to learn about them, being a budding Necromancer herself. So she stays with the worshippers a while, speaking to them and admiring their dedication. She learns a few things about Azura, how she can see into the future, and warn those who dwell in the present.

I am RPing it that Aranea teaches the gift of foresight, which can possibly save Skank's life in the future. Every time Skank goes to sleep in an actual bed, I am going to roll a die. Lol. There is a 1 in 6 chance she will have a detailed dream about a future calamity, and thus be able to avoid such a calamity. This is something I did with a couple past characters of mine. It is a possible "get out of death" card, basically. Skank is a DiD style game, otherwise, so if she never has one of these precognizant dreams, if she dies she is dead. sad.gif

As Skank leaves the worshippers (it really is cold up here!) she is undecided whether or not to go to Winterhold. She leaves Azura a few small gifts: a bottle of Magicka Reneration poison she made herself, a garnet stone, and a flower.
Heather V
Worry not, Lady Saga, I am more than willing to post a few updates here on Jihl's journey in Skyrim smile.gif

***

Jihl woke up in the Inn in Riverhold. After the previous day* she felt she deserved a good night's rest; sleeping for over 18 hours.

With no idea where her day was going to take her she decided her best bet was to head toward the nearest city, which the innkeeper told her was Whiterun. He gave her directions and she set out on her journey.

Unfortunately the only clothes she had on her were rags and boots; not very protective against the cold, but hopefully somebody in Whiterun would take pity on her and offer her some more suitable clothing. But maybe not.

***

Jihl followed the path from Riverhold and saw a large city in the distance. She assumed this was Whiterun.

Excited, she continued to follow the path. She eventually came across a farm being attacked by some sort of giant. The giant was attacking three people who were fighting back. Jihl decided to offer help and took out her bow, firing three arrows into the Giant's back.

Once the giant was defeated Jihl found herself being approached by a woman. She had red hair and war paint on her face which looked like a bear scratch.

"You handled yourself well. You'd make for a fine shield-sister." She said.

"Shield sister?" Jihl asked, mildly confused.

The woman explained she was a Companion, giving a description which sounded like they were the Fighters Guild of Skyrim.

The woman told Jihl that should she decide to join the Companions, she should head to a place called Jorrvaskar in Whiterun.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Basically the opening tutorial. although for RP purposes I pretended that Jihl traversed through the cavern alone.

Jihl is in Skyrim! I'd love to see a picture. smile.gif

Renee, I love how you integrate die rolls into your RP.
Heather V
Yeah of course Grits! Here is a picture smile.gif

The course of her 'time travel' to Skyrim caused her skin to go paler and her hair to go blonde (she was what we would call cryogenically frozen Haha)

Her Skyrim adventure is basically an alternate timeline created just so I could play Skyrim with her in it. one of these days I may write a full fanfic about her time in Skyrim, but not until her current story reaches the point where the alternate timeline would take place smile.gif
Grits
Very nice! I like her post-cryogenic look. smile.gif

I did something similar with Jerric. He’s in Skyrim with Marcurio as Darnand, but no dragons. It’s just an adventure at the beginning of the Fourth Era, so no Nord popsicle was necessary.
Heather V
Ooh that sounds cool!

I don't know why but I just couldn't ignore the timeline. I think because I wasn't sure exactly what Jihl's purpose in Skyrim would be I didn't want to risk confusing anything. Haha.

I'm easily confused lol

SubRosa
One of my recent Oblivion characters is Astarte, the Ayleid Queen of Silorn. I explained her time travel from the era of Alessia to the Oblivion Crisis by a rift in space and time. One moment she was in Silorn, the next she was in the Imperial Prison being harangued by Valen Dreth. Keep in mind also that in ES, Akatosh created linear time and maintains it. We also know that Akatosh has a vested interest in seeing the home team win in the Oblivion Crisis... So in the case of Astarte, it was no accident.

Jihl could just as easily been swept up by such a rift and transported through time and space. Whether under the guidance by the clawed hand of a deity, or just by random chance, who is to say?

Ooh that makes sense. Currently all we know is that a mage in the guild had a vision of an event in Skyrim that only Jihl could stop. Jihl then decided to be magically frozen and awoken on the year the crisis was set to happen.

Yes, I did kinda the same thing with my Skank. smile.gif Ran thru the entire tutorial with the sound of my TV turned down until I got to a certain spot in Helgen Keep. Stopped the game, waited a few weeks (Earth weeks) and then started her game from Helgen Keep. It indeed felt as if she never went through the whole execution/dragon part. smile.gif
Darkness Eternal
Hehe, I am finally going back to getting my PS3 fixed next week! At long last! But I found some old RP posts of Kraven and his escapes in Skyrim, and before the whole Forsworn problem, he faced death in the cold wilderness near Winterhold, on a path to a Dwemer Ruin. This was an ingame life and death situation where his health was low and there were no potions! Yes, he’s stubborn as some of you may know, and he refused to use magicka. New adventures shall be posted once he’s back on his feet. I like to mix gameplay with roleplaying. Maybe to the extreme tongue.gif

Lifetimes ago he was a man. A human. Lifetimes ago he had friends, brothers-in-arms, an occupation; lifetimes ago he had things to hate, and people to cherish and a wife to love. These times, however, he has none of these. Instead, he has a purpose. It grew into him. It birthed within him. He is made to chase. His face is contorted with pain; decorated with snow and blood. Agony reflected in his animalistic eyes painted with liquid flame. But even under these circumstances, he could not afford to give up his purpose. He is made to hunt.

For days now, he didn’t eat, game was scarce in these areas, and he had no time to chase down goats. He could not sleep, he suffers from insomnia. His enhanced hearing prevents him from having a good night's rest. Additionally, everyone wants to kill him. Times have changed since the Third Era; they’re more perilous. More violent. And he knows his time to live is short. His wife had lost her life at the blades and arrows of the evil doers of the Vigilantes of Stendarr, thus he had nothing else to live for.

The supernatural reflexes, the speed of a wolf, the strength of a minotaur is all meaningless when the pain builds up. Lack of food and water, the absence of sleep or warmth had taken it’s toll and yet. . . he could not slow down. Not with the sad excuses for hunters pursuing him, not with the arrow lodged onto his side and his back.

His heart was beating faster now, his health dwindling away by the minutes. The freezing wind stinging his sun-kissed skin, taking icy bites from his body. He cursed himself a fool for not bringing warm clothes. Perhaps he could take it from the bodies of his pursuers, should he survive.

He must survive! Surely a man who has seen it all, been through it all, visited the planes of this realm and the next could live through a simple bandit attack? But could he? How far does the will to hunt go?

The pain increased, and he felt an arrow speed past him to imbed itself into the snow, he could hear the bold insults from the bandits behind him. He could go back and fight, yes, but that would be unwise. One more arrow into his flesh would surely be the death of him.

He slowed down, breathing heavily now as he reached the edge of a Cliffside, below him a Dwemer ruin that was constructed over a millennia ago. But the climb was deep, and the pass treacherous. Death was all around. And in this moment, besides the will to hunt and survive, his thoughts went to paradise beyond this realm.

It is common knowledge now that Nords go to Sovngarde upon death, but he knew better. He knew that the price for a blissful eternity in the afterlife came with a price—but he was no Nord. Not in the slightest nature. Neither was he a man. He resembled one. But that was it. A resemblance. A sham.

“Living as beasts draws our soul closer to the Daedric Lord Hircine,” he was told once. And knew this ever since he had been whisked away, to the Hunting Grounds, centuries ago before the Bloodmoon. The land he remembered as live as Tamriel! The largest forests he could ever lay eyes upon, the vast savannah, the bloody tributaries and deep canyons. But what would change if he ventured there for the last and final time?

Nords go to Sovngarde if they are valient in combat, and die a brave glorious death. But what about hin? Living as a Lycanthrope alone could not grant him a role of a hunter in the realm of hunters. Not if the final moments of his life in Nirn was fleeing for his life. He had to act, now.

He looked down at the edge of the cliff below, knowing that if he jumped, he would lose his life. And behind him the bandits were closing in, to rob him of all possessions, albeit insignificant, he had. Either case, he would die . . .unless he called upon the inner power of the wolf. It may not have been the full moon, but he could summon his true form. Ifhe dies, at least he will die a hunter. And once again, be reunited with his lost love.

He had to survive and to hunt. And that's all a werewolf could do.

Walking from Falkreath, Skankee Krahk-ho decided she'd like to stop at Pinewatch, a cottage off to the side of the road. She has been here before, the place would be full of bandits. Pinewatch is an elaborate bandit hideout.

She easily takes care of the first one (a bandit who stays up in the cottage itself, as a sort of guard), makes herself at home, and has some dinner, not caring at all that the bandit she just killed stares up at her with unseeing eyes. Serves him right.

As Miss Skank settles in for the night, she notices somebody else has been living here, apparently. She finds trinkets and jewels on the dresser upstairs, and a few unordinary weapons (better than an everyday bandit would carry). Whoever this person is, he apparently has some power.

One of my other characters, The Mighty Khahkhayre, has been staying more often at Pinewatch, while Skank prefers Embershard Mine. Khahkhayre has been decorating the place to some extent (for a man) and Skank is noticing this

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

9:06 pm

Hours later, and Miss Skank creeps deeper and deeper into Pinewatch's underground tunnels and rooms. When she first came to Skyrim, she was an unsophisticated practitioneer of magic and stealth; at the mercy of so many things. Now, she has been becoming a virtual death machine, very difficult for enemies to take notice of.

"Gonna start keeping a knife in my boot", says an orc, somewhere close. "Tired of gettin' disarmed".

Skank is in a room full of three dead bandits which just fell to her. She re-animates one of them, and sneaks closer forwards, trying to decide how she's going to take care of this orc. The zombie bandit would most-likely do the bulk of the work...and then she can probably handle things from there.

"UUUUUUUhhhuuuuhhhhh" says the zombie.

Skank is momentarily annoyed. She casts a spell that makes her feet move more quietly as she sneaks. If only she could somehow write a spell which would shut the zombie up! She throws a frost rune onto the ground.

"Go to the College he said, use your smarts.... what was that?"

Skank can now see the orc, which is brandishing a huge battleaxe or warhammer. She knows she's only got a few seconds before she is discovered.

"Time to end this little game!" the orc now spots her, and starts to make a rush.

She panics! Turns around, but the passageway is narrow, and the zombie blocks her path!

"NO!"

The orc gets a couple swings upon her back while she struggles to get paast her re-animated friend! And then FINALLY she does it! Squeezes by the zombie (who was squeezing in the opposite direction!). Runs down the passage, jumps over small wooden partition, and hunkers down in sneak-position.

9:39 PM
"HAA!" *clink!* "Yoou must diie!"

"I'll find you."

That last voice belongs to the orc. He apparently had killed his old bandit-friend. Skank sneaks back towards the far-end of the room she is in, waiting to see if the orc will make it in this far with his attempts at searching.

"Can't hide from me!"

When Khakhayre discovered and raided Pinewatch, he was a nooby Level 2 or 3 weakling, I believe. Pinewatch was a cakewalk for him; the bandits weren't nearly as tough for his game as they are with Skank's. Skankee Krahk-ho faces Bandit Thugs and Marauders, while Khahkhayre faced mostly ordinary Bandits.

10:03 pm

"You can't hide from me!" the orc repeats

"Well, you are not doing so well finding me, are you?" Skank whispers.

"You won't get away", the orc promises. The orc is persistent, though, and keeps his promise. After a few more minutes, he comes running down the passageway, tripping the frost rune Miss Skank left for him. CRRRIIIISH!!! She is momentarily surprised, readies her Fear spell, but the orc stops just short of where she is. She is literally standing in the middle of the room, right in front of him, but he cannot see her.

Skank knows how to "play dead". This is how I see her, now that she's becoming a really good at sneaking
.

As the orc turns away, she now readies her Ice Storm spell. She is not sure how much health the orc has left, but it's worth a try. The orc seems as if he'll just walk away (as most bandits do after a few minutes of searching) but then changes his mind and steps right in front of Miss Skank. WOOOOSH!! she hits him in the face with an ice storm.

"Ha! Found you!"

He takes a swing and misses, her reflexes are just too fast.

"No one bests an orc!"

Skank runs into the far-end of the room again.

"But I am not 'no one', stupid orc!" Skank blasts him with FEAR , wondering if her spell is powerful enough. It is.

"Mercy!" the orc runs off.

Skank waits a few minutes, trying to decide which spell she should use next. She is about to re-animate one of the dead, but changes her mind when she hears the orc off in another room, speaking calmly to himself again. laugh.gif

"Mead mead mead..can't we get any beer in this stinking hole?"

Skank cannot believe her luck.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10:25 pm:

She sneaks up on the orc, preparing her daggar with some poison which will make the orc more susceptible to her magics. She hopes the orc is still weak, and that the dagger strike will go un-noticed. But if she is discovered, at least the poison will help her once she decides to throw some Destruction at him.

"...poison his meat. See how he likes that".

With a single movement, MIss Skank grabs the orc with one hand, slicing his neck with the other (Kill cam!) She smiles then, as the orc falls to the ground, finally taken.

"No more shall you ramble and roam, my friend".

As Skankee sneaks forward once more, she hopes to find someone more nubile and pliable than a big, stinking orc. Someone she can get close to. For a few hours.

Glad you’ll soon be playing again, DE! I look forward to more tales of Kraven.

That’s neat that Skank and Khakhayre inhabit the same Skyrim, Renee.

I spent some time checking in with my old PS3 characters. Here’s how I left them.

Allek the Breton is home in Riften with Marcurio. He is retired unless some new content comes to the PS3 that requires E-vil or at least amoral behavior.

Rowan Varrus and Vorstag are relaxing on the porch at Proudspire Manor. I expect they will still occasionally go on an adventure or two. Rowan is getting fed up with the abuse they get from roaming Stormcloak patrols. Rowan is an Imperial. She is the only character I have who has been chased out of Stormcloak encampments. She is pretty close to enlisting with the Legion. Dammit.

Denelle the archer/illusionist is still pining after her boon companion Erik, who would apparently not know an Amulet of Mara if you choked him with it. I think she should hang out more with Argis, but she keeps leaving him at home. I found Denelle and Erik on their way back to Markarth from some long-forgotten quest. When they got home Denelle did some shopping and organized her book collection. I think she’s happy staying clean and dry for the moment.

Jensa is frustrated. She’s supposed to find a very rare book. Here is a picture of Jensa and the brains of the operation, Stenvar. I guess I don’t need to say that they haven’t found it yet. So Jensa is about to go crack some skulls on behalf of a priest of Mara. She is much better with the skull-cracking than the library business.

Big D is still off on his fishing trip with Erik the Slayer. D and Sylgja recently got married and moved to Honeyside in Riften, so I guess it’s kind of a honeymoon trip. Big D is an orc who was raised in a stronghold. There’s a lot he doesn’t know about human customs, like who is supposed to go on the honeymoon. Apparently Rorikstead is behind on their etiquette as well, or maybe Erik just likes fishing.

I am most excited about Skyrim Jerric’s game. It was wrecked after one of the patches, but I kept a save. This time I was very patient and walked him around a bunch of places, even though it was very choppy. It got better. Yay! Skyrim Jerric lives! biggrin.gif

Rowan's getting the same treatment Aravi is. You've gotta piss Aravi off quite a bit for her to prefer seeing Thalmor over you. They haven't tried to kill her in a while and only sneer at her on the road instead of drawing weapons.

Aravi's heading home to Riften. She has a sinking feeling, her beloved city isn't just run by the incompetent now, but the criminal.

That's a good idea, Grits, think I'll join in. Here are all my PCs in Skyrim...so far....

Blade 'n' Bone (Nord fighter) was created on 11/11/11, but he died 2 days later (Earth days, not game days). I don't remember how, but back in those days I was obsessed with just exploring the Riverwood / Whiterun area, so he probably got killed by a group of bandits or an early sabercat

Thor a'Zaene: (Nord fighter #2) lasted about an Earth month. He also lived mostly in the Whiterun / Riverwood area, but was also starting to branch out into Forsworn territory. He was killed by a very tough draugr warlord....I forget where it happened.

Dyami the Scout (Redgaurd hunter) arrived in Riverwood. I never continued his game from there. sad.gif He was supposed to be based on an American indian who would be more of a pacifist, and my original plan was to explore Skyrim with him. Unfortunately, all my other characters have been managing this.

Claire Voyance: (Breton cleric) was my first non-DiD. She finished the College questline (I had no idea how short it would be!) even though I hadn't intended for this to happen. Although she never died, her partner Brelyna did. Brel and Claire were both married. smile.gif After Brel died, I just didn't have the heart to continue Claire's game alone.

I probably will make a Claire Voyance 2 at some point.

Crystal Beth (Altmer mage) also was involved with the College. She bought Proudspire Manor, and later retired there.

Gunter, Son of Talos (Nord fighter) "finished" the Companions questline, but was killed. He would have been my first character to buy property in the Falkreath area (Heartfire). I started a Gunter II, but he also died. sad.gif

The Mighty Khahkhayre (Dunmer spellsword) lives in Pinewatch. He was involved with the College, but never became Arch Mage, which is fine. He's got tons of gold, and not much to spend it on. After the dissolution of his marriage to Jenassa, Khahkhayre has lost interest in adventuring for the moment (he's also become somewhat of an "uber" character. I get bored quickly with ubers, but there's a chance Khahkhayre might return for some cameo appearances).

Skankee Krahk-ho: (Dunmer conjurer) lives in Embershard Mine, and (of course) is still actively exploring Skyrim. She's a weird one, in the sense that she has no desire to help anyone, or to have a follower/companion. I like to play my Skyrim games "passively". I would love it if Skank became a vampire, and somehow wound up meeting Serana, but so far neither of these things have happened.

That's all my PCs, I think smile.gif
SubRosa
Wow, where did I last leave most of my Skyrim characters?

Scylla is standing in Riften with Illia, trying to figure out which of the umpteen quests in her journal to do next.

Aradia was left in Whiterun, after rescuing Thorold Greymane from the diabolical clutches of the Thalmor

Primrose is still having dinner at the Dawnstar Inn

Hrafngoelir and Ralof are taking a well-deserved break after liberating Skyrim from the tyranny of the Empire.

Tanit is still admiring her new outfit in the Blue Palace.

Babd is reminding the Companions that they are wimps somewhere in the northern part of Skyrim

Kachina was last roaming the wilds of The Rift and Falkreath.

Hera is enjoying the peace and quiet of her new Riverwood home.

Ancasta is still not sure about all this college business...

Andraste was last seen roaming around in the very south east of Skyrim, behind Riften.

Eris is slitting throats in The Reach

Delves-The-Depths is still in Windhelm, trying to decide if she likes this new Ebony armor, or if she is going to stick with her Dwemer gear.

Bendis and Lydia are standing just outside of Shor's Stone, on some dragonly business for the Greybeards.

Shakti was last seen guarding the temple of Nocturnal

Hesperia is outside of Whiterun, wondering what happened to the farmer who previously owned this cow?

Ulfdis is staring at the birds in Dawnstar

Aretsaya is standing in the courtyard of the College of Winterhold.

Nice! I like looking at all those pictures! You've got a lot of characters, holy hamster.

So I have something to announce, my friends. One of our own has just passed. Skankee Krahk-ho has just been killed by the boss of Pinewatch: who goes by the name of Strong-Arm or something like that. sad.gif I'm a little too bummed to look up her name on UESP. Anyways, just wanted to mention this here. I should probably also look up Senior Cinco's DiD thread over at Bethsoft.

Was fun travellin' with ya, Miss Skank....

How fun to see all of your characters in one place, SubRosa!

Renee, I wondered what happened to the Khahkster.

I forgot to mention that Skyrim Jerric got into a drinking contest while he and Darnand were on their way to Winterhold. Jerric is dealing with the aftermath. He can't shake this uneasy feeling that he met that guy Sam somewhere before...

Edit: oh no, not Skank!! Sympathies, Renee!

It's okay, I'm okay. Usually when somebody dies I'll play Goddess, and evaluate whether or not that character died "fairly". If there's some glitch going on, for instance, and it doesn't allow my character to move, and she gets killed--that's an unfair death. But if I did everything I possibly could to defend my character, or flee, and/or fight, and the character dies, that's a fair death. sad.gif

I am starting somebody new tonight anyways, and I'm going to be doing a lot of adventuring with this new guy. Think I will start his game in the Spoilers section though.

Sorry to hear of Skank's demise. Some of those bandits are a lot stronger than you anticipate. sad.gif

Recently I've been playing a new character, Kendra.

Her game started in Riverwood. She is a mercenary for hire, looking for a purpose in life.

She heard from the innkeeper that the Jarl of Whiterun if offering bounty money to someone who can rid a camp of bandits north of the City.

Kendra decided to take them on, and succeeded.

She is currently in Whiterun, taking on as many bounties come along; until they become tiresome for her, then she will move on.
SubRosa
Kendra is cute. Nice dark, piercing eyes.
Heather V
Thanks SubRosa!

Yeah when she came about I realized she had very hard features. Her eyes, like you said, are dark and piercing.

For me it says a lot about her character. She lived a difficult life and grew into a fairly cold, hard woman.

It's fun trying to discover more about her as we travel together.

Haha thank you smile.gif

Kendra had recently been up to her normal ways; collecting bounties by defeating bandits. She enjoys it, and it satisfies her enough.

However, recently she recruited a new friend, Uthgerd, to join her on the more dangerous missions. They are both very similar personality wise, but I worry that their thirst for battle with end up with the two of them clashing swords with each other!

I'll have to wait and see haha.

"Are you alright?"

"It's just these--"

"What was that?"

The night is freezing cold, as is typical of north Skyrim. The sky is clear, though. At least there's no snow storm.

"Musst be my imagination!"

The Dawnstarian guard swears he saw something, though. Someone!, not something, but someone. Someone horrible and threatening. But ... it was just a phantom? A snow drift, perhaps? Both of these are possibilities. It is also dark and hard to see.

Nothing there. Nobody there.

"Are you worried about this war?" a female voice (probably a Nord) asks.

"No! We must fight! We will lead us to victahry as we always have," says the male. Sounds like a guard.

"You at my side?" asks the woman.

"Of course! I would have it no other way!"

Standing in shadows behind a wood cabin, Mycharonna the Ice Witch casts another Muffle spell puuuuff!, and cautions several steps forward. Nobody is there. They are gone, they must have left.

Do I have a bounty upon my head? ... But I have never been here in Dawnstar.

A couple hours ago, Mycharonna had strolled casually into town, shape-shifing her dark, foul-smelling necromancer's robes into a pleasant, lavender-scented dress. She had done this many times before here in Skyrim, yet tonight there was a problem. Tonight, she was attacked! ... a volley of arrows had been sent her way, and a simple man brandishing a pickaxe had chased her for quite awhile, until he couldn't follow her anymore.

"I could have rid him, on the spot."

But she had not. It is not her intention to terrorize the villagers of Dawnstar into action against her. She's got a certain 'task' to accomplish while she's here, and Mycharonna the Ice Witch intends to blend in, as best she can.

At some point, she had looked to her skin, and could see why the attack took place. "They can see. They can see what I am", Mycharonna said in her usual monotone. "And I must feed to correct such."

... She had run out of Dawnstar, chased by a man with a pickaxe, but had also returned an hour later, sneaking invisibly into town, arriving behind this wooden cabin, where several villagers had been awake, even at this late hour.

But now they are gone .... or so she thought!

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

1:32 Am
The Ice Witch chances a bold move, and creeps over a series of rocks, arriving finally at some sort of thoroughfare. Everybody had left, she thought, so she begis creeping towards a nearby set of stairs, really craving the life force which would saturate her being. It'd been several days since she last fed, and now is the time!

"Did you hear something?"

A guard! ... stands right nearby! Mycharonna had not noticed him; he stood so quietly. A good watch guard, he certainly is, and at first she assumes she had been caught. But he merely glanced this way and that. And had not seen her immediately. He could certainly feel her, though. And she didn't have much time.

The ice witch panics! Runs at full vampiric speed behind the cabin, crouching down again and casting the Muffle spell. It takes the guards several minutes to figure out where she had gone, but they eventually find her.

"Over here!"

Again, Mycharonna bolts off, this time drinking a potion of invisibility. Her last one! ... The guards have no clue where the menace they had seen only a moment ago had vanished to, as Mycharonna starts to creep again.

"Guess it's all cleer now"....

She creeps into another cabin, picks its worn-out lock in one try, and sneaks inside. But no one. No one is here.

"How long must I wait before taking upon my succulency?"

Soon the sun will be up. And nobody fills the bed before her. Mycharonnna the Ice Witch scrambles for a plan as she hides in a corner by some aged barrels, and finally decides what to do.

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

4:00 AM

"Don't even think about it!"

"Too late for your complaints, old woman."

"You're not supposed to be in here!" the old woman whines, apparently unaware of the moments which had just passed. And also unaware of the two marks (the size of pin pricks) which shine red from her neck.

Mycharonna steps back, as the life force of rushes through her very being. She can't help but enjoy the feeling, just for a moment. She had managed to break into this final 2-story wooden home, using her very last lock pick to do so.

"I'm not warning you again! Get out or I'll call the guards!"

"I do not think such petty concerns are necessary, now?" Mycharonna replies before casting yet another spell.

FOOM!

...this one violently knocks plates and books and things all over this poor woman's room! But also calms the old woman down. Hypnotizing her, in a way.

"There. I think we have come to a ... better sort of arrangement, now have we not?"

Mycharonna the Ice Witch then strides out the old woman's door, fully confident in her self and her being, while the old woman stands dazed and confused, lost in pacified thoughts. She would not remember any of this tomorrow, Mycharonna thinks as the door closes softly behind her.

Note: Here is my method as she's feeding: Mycharonna feeds, and then immediately casts a vampiric drain, causing the old woman to wake up, and very freaked out, to boot. Mycharonna then waits a moment (the woman does not attack) before casting her next power: Voice of the Imperial. This is a calm spell basically, and I am considering it to be the equivalent of hypnotization

...I want some DRAMA as my character feeds, and by golly I'm gonna have it!
Grits
I like what you're doing with Mycharonna's feeding and vampiric abilities, Renee. Yay for imaginary mods! smile.gif
Lady Saga
That was a thrilling episode in Mycharonna's life happy.gif When she crept up and that guard almost caught her for instance, she was right by the Jarl's cabin (and neither she nor I knew this), so it would have been awful if she had managed to creep inside, where she would definitely been caught. And then she ran out of invisibility potions & spells, and was down to her last lockpick. If she hadn't managed to pick that final lock and feed on that woman...

...anyways, that had me on the edge! All of that. After she fed, Mycharonna stayed in Dawnstar for one day, paying a small bounty, but she realized there's nowhere to do trading (sooo weird that there's no place to trade in this village rolleyes.gif) She cast a Frenzy upon the person whom the Dark Brotherhood had contracted her to kill, but unfortunately somebody noticed her as she crept in the shadows, and EVERYBODY was chasing her out of Dawnstar once again! laugh.gif

As she passed through a fort she had previously been through before (I forget the name of it, it's the one that has the road going directly through it) she thought bandits had re-inhabited the place, and began taking care of these (she needed a place to safely sleep for the day...hours were getting late) but it turns out they weren't bandits they were Stormcloaks! blink.gif Mycharonna had no choice: she spent several hours tricking these soldiers into fighting one another, or re-animating dead soldiers, until she finally could make her way into the cabin with a free bed in it!

With a lack of Dawnguard, it's ironic that her game is actually more thrilling than it was, but there ya go! As she made her way slowly from that fort back to Whiterun, to Riverwood, and finally back to Anise's cabin, she's fed twice. It's always an episode of inconvenience and trickery, now that DG is not part of her game anymore.

Oh! I like Kendra! Her and Vera would get along just fine.

Today in Skyrim:

One of Kraven Desselius' adventures in Skyrim! Savage wilderness werewolf-man time! I sort of Rped this out in the game today. Fun times with the Forsworn tribes. Yes, he attacked their base. And yes, I did it with two different characters of mine in seperate profiles, haha.

Lycus Desselius is a former gladiator. He is now a free-lance mercenary and a warrior, and a loving husband. While a werewolf for sometime now, he is new to the ways of the beast and the most sacred of ritualistic traditions. His wife, however, is far more knowledgeable and experienced. And so she teaches him what it is to be a Hound of Hircine and a champion hunter.

Along the edge of the hill, in the misty valleys of the Reach, Lycus and his beloved lover watched their enemies gather. The savage warriors he and his woman faced had been armed with longbows and stone-tipped clubs and bone-edged swords. They were foes to be feared by the common man. But Lycus and his wife were far from ordinary.

Within the Karthspire Camp the primitives of the Forsworn gathered in numbers, surrounded by sacrificial victims, and mounted goat heads for their dark arts. They were attuned to the natural energies that surrounded Nirn, much like werewolves can tap into it. They make fine prey, indeed. Worthy prey.

Lycus looked to the sky and saw that night was almost coming upon them. But tonight they would face their foes in their human guise. The wind rustled against his flowing black hair and his woman's blonde one as they prepared themselves for the onslaught.

"Eyes on the prey, not the horizon." His woman said. "Do you remember what has been said about the hunt?"

"We are to taste flesh and drink blood. Never waste the spoils of a kill."

The two warriors of the wild wielded the same weaponry used by their foes. Primeval tools of slaughter made from mundane material not made by man. Wood, stones and bones. Lycus held in his hand a fearsome looking sword while his woman brandished a wicked axe bound by sticks and reed. He would not be using his scimitar today, nor would she be using her ebony gear.

The fresh-faced lass positioned herself with a disappearing smile. In rare moments did he see her smile and laugh in peaceful times, but her behavior—the set of her muscles, the feral tensing of her jaw, the animalistic yellow blaze in her widening eyes—offered anything but tranquility. She pounced from her hiding spot at his command and rushed down the hill into the camp.

She screamed out loud to catch their attention, and his own as well.

“You taught me how to fight with sword and shield, but now you get to learn from me. We will now test the limits of your agility, strength, and efficiency. Tap into your inner beast but refrain from unleashing it.” She said, as several of the fiercest, bravest, and most talented warriors—their bodies clothed with animal fur and bones and skin—began to shout threatening words to the couple. “This is beyond the act of assaulting them; it is a rite of passage, my love.”

To the two running werewolves, the Forsworn tribesmen prepared their swords and bows, raised a battle cry, and attacked. A nod from Lycus’ lover and the Lycanthropes sped down the hill and past a flight of stairs to meet them, descending upon them like wolves, evading arrows from archers, burning fireballs from a Hagraven, and swings from primitive weapons, going one against one, two versus three, and even four, but felling enemy after enemy with their own clothes and weapons, until among the tons of dead, bloody corpses one was left standing. He was beaten and bloodied, and ran across the field in terror.

"No more! I yield! I yield!"

This was when the huntress reached for a hunter’s bows strapped to her back and pulled an steel arrow from her quiver. She closed one eye, aimed, held her breath and fired. The steel projectile flew through the air, past flesh and into bone. Hurling the Forsworn warrior to the dirt.

"At once, the Huntsman is transported by the exquisite thrill and glory of her might and dominion over her helpless prey, and at the same time touched by the tragic, noble, and ultimately futile plight of the Quarry.“ She said in a whisper, paraphrasing her favorite book.

The two hunters of Hircine hadn’t bothered to investigate what the Forsworn’s thought about Lycanthropes—whether in their belief systems Hircine and Hagravens were compared to that of deities or demons—for their goals lie in something more political and feudal.

What was painfully obvious was their slow advancement of weapons and armor; how they attacked others and defended themselves with wooden war clubs and swords while their Nordic foes were encased in steel dresses. It was deliberate, however, for them to choose to use such exotic tools. Lycus wondered what his woman’s ancestor’s were like. More or less the same way. The past shamans and warriors of the wield who first had the beastblood adrift in their veins. He felt in touch with his past blood-related just by walking in the ways that they did.

His wife crouched down the corpse, used the axe to open the man’s chest cavity; then she reached a blood-stained hand in the corpse and extracted the beating heart not yet soiled by the briarseed. She inspected it and set it gentle above the cadaver’s chest.

“You fought well, my dear. If you are to unlock your dormant abilities you must first discover the key.” She smiled, and sat crosslegged near the body. “The blood of our foes can sustain us. You know this already. But by our bond to the Totems of Hircine and our direct connection to the natural energies, the hearts of our prey can be consumed to prolong our lives and empower us with abilities our predecessors could have never imagined.”

She stopped to take the foreworn’s heart back into her hands. She adopted a smile. “Something has shifted in the moons, my beloved. It is our time, now. But to survive we must live as beasts, in spirit and in body. Then Hircine's favor shall be upon us.” She said and took a bite from the savage’s heart. She then handed the blood-filled organ to Lycus. “Begin by devouring it in the form of man, and your wolf shall always seek nourishment."

Sweet update, DE. *claps* Yeah, those Forsworn are certainly primitive. I'm a lover of in-game dialogue, so I like the little quips of this here and there in the above tale.

I did play a bit of Skyrim yesterday with my vampire. I saw my first evidence of Dragonborn I think: a set of "Nordic" armor worn by a bandit boss. Never seen a set of armor like this before; it's gotta be 'cause of DB.

You have Morrowind as well? Dang!

I've wanted to own MW ever since seeing it at a party in the early New Millenium (2001 or 2-ish). But back in those days I had a Playstation, not an Xbox (which was still relatively new back then). Man I wish I had an Xbox instead sometimes. I would have spent much of the 2000s playing TES: III instead of various editions of Tomb Raider.

Solstheim was considered a seperate island for dispute in the Third Era. But it was revealed in the Elder Scrolls novel, Lord of Souls, that the Dunmer began to settle there after that ash-pit called Morrowind exploded. Skyrim's High King gave the island to them and it became officially known as a part of Morrowind wink.gif

Actually it's not hard to get into, IMO, at least if you can cope with not-so-good graphics and a different combat system. Much of everything else will simply suck you in and before you know, you'll be having a blast. Perhaps your first character won't be the best... at least in my case my most memorable characters were created after playing for some time.

As far as I know you, Lady Saga, you won't have problems geting into Morrowind at all, I think you'll have difficulties leaving it. wink.gif
Lady Saga
Thanks. smile.gif I don't know if that poetry is great or even good! I like writing it though, because it's what she likes to do. Even though it doesn't make much sense, it actually gets me into the roleplay just a little bit more, if ya know what I mean.

It's not getting into Morrowind that I'm concerned about, it's the fact that (in my opinion) to properly get into it, I'll need to devote years. I would want to learn all the little things about TES: III, just like those who played it during the 2000s. Problem is, I'm not even done with Oblivion, and nowhere near done with Skyrim.

So for me to add Morrowind to the roster, I'd have to lose my job or something! I would need all this extra free time, basically.

Vampires in fiction and lore often have human or semi-human companions. Louis and Lestat had safehouses they could stay at, where they were protected by humans, and in Stephen King's Salem's Lot, the master vampire (I forget his name) had a strange human-like creature keep their house affairs up. Barnabas Collins (Dark Shadows) also had "Willy" run his house during the day, at least in the early episodes.

Mycharonna saw somebody in Markath who had that sort of "look" to him, like he might be for hire. And he was! Vorstag is his name, and he's been accompanying the ice witch, while she educates him on what she's all about. He's a fighter, and gets overwhelmed at times, whereas Mycharonna is very skilled with combat. She rarely takes any hits nowadays, she's so good at summoning and raising dead (etc.)

Vorstag is doing okay so far, but the ice witch occasionally has to hold his mortal hand. The pair are off to Windhelm, where Mycharonna is to accomplish a certain task. huh.gif She is to kill another mortal.
Grits
Nice! I like Vorstag. His remarks often strike me as funny.
