Nice! I like Vorstag. His remarks often strike me as funny.

I agree. He's also not as annoying as Marcurio.

Lady Saga
So Vorstag, Mycharonna's human companion, already died! It happened in Morvunskar. She cleared out a lot of this fort (which is inhabited by evil mages) and while Vorstag stood bored outside. So she decided to try and include the guy! nono.gif But it didn't take long before he was toasted.

One of the mages happend to a 40-point fireball staff. Poor Vorstag didn't have a chance. I wonder if he's a lower-level follower or something, seemed like he kept getting pwned quite easily, even though this game is on Apprentice difficulty.

Grits
Oh no! That's too bad. Vorstag is still a beast in Rowan's level 50 something game. (Though she does keep him supplied with potions.) Damn those fireballs! kvleft.gif Poor Mycharonna, alone again!

Potions. Potions. That's something I've wondered about, do followers really use potions? Every time I give my follower a bunch of potions he or she doesn't seem to use them. I definitely have checked inventory in the past, too. Hmmm....

So with Vorstag, she didn't bother to give him any. mellow.gif Maybe I should start doing this, just in case I'm just not noticing whether they get used.
Grits
I've found that the the player-made potions don't get used, but the healing and magicka ones found in the game do.

That's what I've found too. Kharjo pretty much receives every healing potion Aravi finds. He hasn't needed them very often I am pleased to report. smile.gif

Ahhhh that makes sense. I'll try giving Mycharonn'as next peon follower standard generic potions. This is good to know too because my vamp (as well as LHM and others I've created) is usually in the habit of leaving some potions un-looted. They're already rich, and all those extra potions don't need to be picked for cash, so they often get left behind. Not anymore though.

Dang we learn something new everyday, right? Or at least every week.

Today we met a Breton called Erich who just happened to be near the border when a sweep of Imperial troops gathered him up along with some oaf called Ulfric Stormcloak...

Sadly, in the insuing fistycuffs he's lost his memory and hasn't got a clue about why he was in Skyrim in the first place...

Though, he does like shooting things with fire...A lot...

Having made his way down to a lovely village called Riverwood with a decent chap called Ralof, Erich had decided to earn his keep, earning a fair day's money for a fair day's work...If only he could find a damned woodsman's axe around the place...

The shopkeeper suggested there may be a free one up in that Bleak Falls Barrow place..."Oh, and while you're there, could you...You know...have a look for something that was stolen from us?...Huh?...Please?..."

.................................................................

As a break from every character that I've made being involved in my KOTN story, Erich has nothing to do with anything...and for once, the Skyrim that is, is the Skyrim that is...If you know what I mean...

I'm attempting to do a pure mage...Robes, wards, **-skin spells...Shooty fire spells...And a huge bunch of conjuration-ness...

I'm also going to try and avoid the conjour weapons spells, simply to keep the need for the uber-spells going, and not be able to rely on good old-fashioned killy-stab-stab metal type...

Not that I'm bored of the knighty-types, as such, it's just that Dragonborn (aside from its MQ which ended up urinate*-ing me off when I realised what the pay-off actually was) and Hearthfire really have made Skyrim far more enjoyable than it ever was, for me personally...So I just want to keep it going with some different type of roleplay thing-ish-ness...

I'm considering not doing a lot of the quests...Well, I've done them all before...Some I'll need to do, the Thane of Falkreath ones...Possibly the College ones...But maybe not...Certainly he'll have to enrol to get access to the mages and their monies...Hmmm...

Though one thing is certain...No dragons... biggrin.gif ...Or Companions...Or Thieves...Or Dark Brotherhoods... laugh.gif ...

EDIT...Erich does have a surname...It's just that I've forgotten what it is... laugh.gif ...Weeeelll, at just after half-five this morning, it asks for a name and then it was lost again...So, other than the Erich bit, I've no idea... laugh.gif ...
Grits
Good luck to Erich! smile.gif I love non-questing characters. They can poke their nose in anywhere without causing me to panic over triggering some bug or another.
Lady Saga
McB: I have noticed that my PS3 games did not feature a wood-cutting axe in Riverwood but on the Xbox there is one. All of this is pre-Dawnguard or any other DLC or updates, too.

I don't wanna post spoilers outright, so you'll have to hightlight this..try looking on a table located just behind the smith's place. It's by a fence near the river. I remember last summer being very surpised to find an axe here.

Granted, maybe there's always been an axe in my PS3/Riverwood games, but I just never found it. That's a possibility, but rather unlikely.
McBadgere
Oh cool!!...Got Erich some axe action, though I'll definately go look for that other one for future reference...It always seemed odd to me...

Well, the non-metal killing utensils attempt failed...One Damage magica regen potion and Erich would have been dead if he hadn't had the steel war axe with him...*Shrug*...Bought the bound sword spell tome...Hey-ho...I tried in that way, it was either that or die... biggrin.gif ...

So, Erich took on two tribes of Bandits...I know there were two, as there were two chiefs...Plus a Sabre-Cat turned up from somewhere...

That was a busy time...Didn't die once though...*Applauds Erich*... biggrin.gif ...

This is fun again... biggrin.gif ...

ha ha there ya go.

Mycharonna just returned to Anise's Cabin, which may as well be Mycharonna's cabin since Anise is long gone. This cabin really is her home. I need to post some screenies at some point.

The upper level is totally plain, other than some torches laid upon its front lawn. It looks abandoned, otherwise. There are some cheap utensils, ingredients, and clothes lying about. The honey pot Mycharonna stole in Riften is the most interesting thing.

Have a look in her dresser, though, and it gets interesting. There's a layer of ordinary clothes, but under this layer are a few enchanted robes. And under these there are a series of notes and books, most of which are Dark Brotherhood assassination contracts with her name on them. laugh.gif There's a couple enchanted weapons, but what's really interesting is the 8,000 gold, tucked underneath all this mess. Mages and bandits (and other NPCs) occasionally wander though the area where the cabin is, they have no clue apparently about the hidden gold. (RP wise)

Now we go to the cellar, which is really cribbed out. Rubies, garnets, emeralds, and other jewels are laid on the cupboard and tables. Soul gems. And a series of enchanted clothes that enhance the potions and poisons she makes are stored down here, as well. A torch is in the middle of the floor, keeping the place well-lit at all times.

This is definitely her home, until she figures out a place to spend that 8,000 gold on a real house.
McBadgere
Cool... biggrin.gif ...

Well, Erich Krannt (yes, I know...It was 5.30am-ish...Leave me be!!... laugh.gif ) is definately a mage...And an Alteration/Conjouration one at that...I'm only level 15 and both are either at or near 50 already...With no training...

The wife's like "Why do you keep Male-Chicken*-ing about changing all the spells all the time?" then it increases Alteration/Sneak/Conjuration/Illusion one after the other in a row and I just simply point and say, "That's why."

The kids are sickened by my power levelling...*Smug*...It's about one and a half levels per hour played at the mo...Robert knows how to play the game these days... tongue.gif ...

Currently, Erich is taking care of a Bounty Hunting contract in Bilegulch mine...This coming after doing a favour for the Jarl of Falkreath (With a view to the whole house/Hearthfire thing kicking off)...I'll be doing the Thane quest there too...
Lady Saga
The Thane quests.. *sigh* I switched from Mycharonna to Lord Haaf-Mersey. I am doing another gaming marathon today. Anyways, LHM has been stuck on 1/3 for ever. Can't figure out what else will trigger Thane quests in Falkreath. And I've done it with other characters. I've become Thane in Falkreath with others, that is. It didn't take this long, either. I think LHM has done the werewolf one (where he takes the ring from the imprisoned dude) and that's it.

Actually *facepalms* I forgot about the talking Dog quest. I think LHM might have to do that one, too. He's going to be a very busy man these next few months.

Erich Krannt smile.gif

SubRosa
If you just want to buy Lakeview Manor, all you need to do is wait until you get the letter from the Jarl (I think at level 7 or so), and then go kill a bandit boss for him.

If you want the whole Thane title, then you have to do three favors for people in FallsChurchkreath. The Barbas quest is one. Picking wheat for the farmer is another. Getting the priest's journal back is a third. There are several others as well.
Lady Saga
Thanks, hon. LHM has spoken to every NPC in town, trying to see what else there is to do. I forgot all about the talking Barbas dog one, though.
Grits
There's a guy in leather armor who has a quick errand he needs doing. He's often chopping wood in the main part of town.

Darkness Eternal
Namira . . .oh that voice . . .hmmm . . . wub.gif

Renee
Lord Haaf-Mersey is trying to find the moth priest, who has been taken to Forebear's Holdout. I am being extra hardcore about this: No map and no HUD. This "holdout" place is hard to find!

But LHM found a cabin with a dead NPC inside. There's a dog named Meeko, and so now he's got a dog follower! I forgot that we can have one dog and one NPC follow us, so it's like a new addition to the family. smile.gif

I just have to remember to have LHM tell Meeko to "Sit..stay..." before going into dangerous areas.
McBadgere
Well, Erich Krannt is still going...He's currently level 26 or 27...Plus, I've finally realised how difficult it is being a pure mage...My God I keep getting killed...

His Illusion is 83, his Alteration is 72 but his Destruction is only 30...He prefers getting his Frosty-boy to do his smacking...God I love the atronachs...Nothing to do with Grits at all...Nope... wink.gif biggrin.gif ...

It's taking ages for the Conjouration to go up though...Weird...

Aaaamywho...It's bloody hard work sticking to the magic...I've had to fall back on the sword/shield a lot as the baddies are levelling up...*Sigh*...Getting there though...

Currently, he's a bounty hunter and using the proceeds to buy either stuff for his house outside Falkreath or buying the next level spells and robes...

QFT. Terenna's like that; mages make great glass cannons, and while they're great for dishing out hurt they can't soak it up at all. You need a companion with you to take damage on your behalf, definitely, a heavy-armoured tank like Kharjo or Uthgerd the Unbroken.

Really? What difficulty are you playing on? Maybe it's because Mycharonna's game is Apprentice that I'm always able to avert death. I just bumped LHM's game to Adept, though. Apprentice was getting way too easy for him!

My strategy with my witch (and most of my magic-users) is to have a certain spell ready at all times (usually a summon). When an enemy shows up, the trick is to get as far away from the action as possible, and then just hit 'em with a variety of Destruction and/or Illusion spells. I like to try to get above the enemy if possible. Mycharonna also likes to summon, hide somewhere (in sneak mode) until the enemy hopefully thinks she's gone. smile.gif

I agree.

The problem I have is that, playing Terenna, I only use fire-based spells, and my magicka isn't yet high enough to conjure a Flame Atronach, so my options are rather limited. Otherwise I'd be stocking up on wards and Oakflesh and so forth and I'd be fine. And I refuse to play on Apprentice. That would mean I'd lose Man Points, and that would be unacceptable! tongue.gif

Also, what's the Flaming Familiar do, and where can I get that spell? That sounds like another summon Terenna could use, definitely.

Oooooh! Lord Haaf-Mersey found the tome that teaches this spell! I forget where he found it; it was in some lair I believe. Since he doesn't use conjuration he did not pick it up. Kinda sucks because if Mycharonna had found it, she would have learned that spell. In 2 seconds.

Trey the Nord had decided it was time to live in the province of his birth. He knew nothing about it- a few stories from his parents- a place on an old map.

He crossed he mountains and next he knew, he was on the ground, with an Imperial sword at his throat and an Imperial knee in his back. Welcome home, son.

All he had wanted was to find a little farm or town, buy a house, and settle down.

(No. Not going to think about Helgen.)

After. After he wasn't about to be murdered- oh right- when the EMPIRE does it, it is "execution."

A couple of people looked at his ragged self and decided it would be great fun to send him to Bleak Falls Barrow.

Nords. Undead Nords. ANGRY Undead Nords. Stendarr! But- there was also gold. Not enough to buy a house- but a start.

So now- Trey is taking on bounties and developing a desire to kill every draugr in Skyrim. He WILL own that house in Whiterun. If he lives long enough to buy it....
Renee
goodjob.gif Hope Trey the Nord makes it safely, then!

treydog
Five (or was it six?) bounties later, plus some smithing and a lucky find of a Transmute spell, Trey got the key to his very own house. He proudly asked Lydia to follow him. Having a Housecarl with no house had been... difficult.

But his step was light now- to the tune of 5000 gold. Still- a HOUSE. He turned the key and threw open the door to see... some crates and lots of dust and empty space.

Lydia tried to be sympathetic, "Perhaps some curtains will liven it up, my thane?"

Trey muttered, "Wait here," and headed to Dragonsreach with determination in his stride and mayhem in his heart. "I wonder what the penalty is for feeding the Jarl's advisor to a dragon?"

By the time he reached Proventus however, his temper had cooled- somewhat.

"The house is empty," Trey grated, keeping his hand away from his sword hilt with great effort.

Proventus raised a carefully plucked eyebrow, "Well, yes. Of course. Did I not give you the Decorating Guide? Oh- here it is."

Trey looked at the thin pamphlet suspiciously and felt his anger rise again at the prices for simple furnishings. But it wavered when when he saw that he could have an alchemy lab of his own. And- it was convenient to Warmaiden's too.

There was that treasure map he had been lugging around for a while- maybe it was time to see where it would take him.

"Probably into a troll's gullet," he thought.
treydog
Trey received a note from "A Friend" which sent him straight to where there was a DRAGON! "Friend" is it? Fortunately, this dragon was getting into it with a giant, so Trey, being a "shoot from the shadows" type decided- "I get next" and let them sort it out,

That name deserves an award! Did he actually sleep in any Khajiit's bedroll? I'm asking because Tamala was asking for some free bedrolls in Khajiit's tents near Riften but they were all OWNED.

--------------------------------------

Tamala Christophe, Redguard thief and newest recruit of the Riften guild of Thieves, left Riften and headed for Windhelm by foot. To reach Riften, she hired a carriage from Whiterun but she found herself capable enough to survive a walk from Riften to Windhelm. She soon came to regret her decision.

While admiring tall mountain peaks just a few steps away from Riften guard tower she was ambushed by three giant frostbite spiders. I don't need to stress out that she got poisoned during the fight. Not long after she had to sneak through a fort inhabited by bandits, situated approximately a half way between Riften and Shor's Stone. Just before Shor's Stone she was attacked by a duo of hungry wolves. Tamala realized that guards don't perform their duties in the vicinity of Riften at all, instead they let travelers like herself deal with the dangers.

A trip from Shor's Stone was peaceful for some time but then the realy party started... after killing another pair of wolves she was attacked by an Argonian in black & red armor, obviously determined to slay her! Tamala calculated her chances and concluded that Argonian seems to tough to defeat and instead sprinted down the road. That was not very wise because a family of three frostbite spiders welcomed and surrounded her. She barely defeated one of them and noticed the Argonian approaching! She repeated her technique and continued sprinting down. That was not very wise either because farther down the road three starved wolves spotted her and obviously found her dark skin pleasant for a few bites.

The bad thing was that she was chased by two big frostbite spiders and three wolves who didn't let her go no matter what. The good thing was that Argonian in black & red armor obviously wasn't interested in killing her anymore and was running back up the road. Or perhaps he/she got afraid of too many creatures. Another good thing is that all of a sudden one of the frostbite spiders was set on fire. But hey, Tamala barely knows how to cast a fire! Was someone coming to her help? Exactly, a Dunmer girl in heavy armor was running up the road and joined the fight. Thanks to her fire and Tamala's orcish dagger they dealt with the creatures!

Tamala thanked the mercenary for help and then they parted ways. She made a short stop by the lake to eat some food, clean her face and wounds but at the same time she felt her fingers getting numb and realized that one of the wolves obviously infected her with some disease that made her much less efficient in combat. But this was not the end of the adventures. A little later she stumbled upon a giant and his mammoth pet. Mammoth was standing in a middle of the road and giant was walking in its direction. Afraid to get any closer, Tamala crouched and waited for the road to clear.

Well fortunately they eventually moved out of the way but it lasted a long time. The giant crossed a road and headed for the mountains while his pet went the other way, obviously heading to another giant that was standing next to a big fire a distance away. Tamala took advantage of the situations and quickly sneaked between a giant and his pet. The rest of the journey was more or less peaceful if we don't count a heavy snowstorm close to Windhelm that made her fingers even more numb.

With her last remaining strength she made it to Windhelm, found an alchemist, bought a potion of cure disease, rented a room at Candlehearth Hall, drank her potion and fell to the bed. She couldn't sleep for some time because of a bard singing war songs but at least she had a beautiful voice. She will probably have to spend a day or two in a bed for symptoms to fade away.

No, he actually stood around with the cat-people in real-time, while auroras lighted the sky and I surfed the forums. When the sun came up he went to Halted Stream Camp and took care of business there. When he got back to Whiterun, he had enough money to hire Jenassa (dark elf archer) and this has been going well so far.

Trey's barrow-clearing mania has hit an unexpected snag. He came across some indications of an age-old feud involving an ancient court mage. He found 2 pieces of the "MacGuffin", but the third piece is locked in the final barrow, which is posted with signs:

"DO NOT ENTER BY ORDER OF THE COLLEGE OF WINTERHOLD!"

"OR WELL- NOW THAT WE THINK ABOUT IT- APPLY FOR ENTRANCE BY APPLYING FOR ENTRANCE TO THE COLLEGE OF WINTERHOLD"

THANK YOU. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT HAS BEEN MADE ON BEHALF OF THE COLLEGE OF WINTERHOLD. PLEASE SEE THE COLLEGE OF WINTERHOLD FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Fine then. Trey grumbled in typical Nordish fashion about bloody mages, but he went. And was told he has to cast a Fear spell. Which he does not have. But not to worry, the "nice lady" refusing entry will sell him the spell for a mere 30 gold. 30 gold pieces later- the spell cost more magic than he has.

"I am an archer and undead slayer- not a mage! I have spent my time learning USEFUL things- like smithing and alchemy and how to KILL UNDEAD. I'm a crusader, dammit, not a.... Oh nevermind."

Exploring the world, Trey discovered a cave which apparently contained spiders large enough to prey on mammoths. So OF COURSE he went in... panic.gif

The sound of multi-jointed legs skittering across the cave floor will be with him for a long time.

Surviving that, he went to an abandoned fort and was attacked by homicidal elemental mages. The only GOOD thing about it was, he found the last ingredient needed for Elsweyr Fondue, which will give him enough of a boost to cast the stupid spell, to get into the idiot college, so he can be allowed to enter the blankity-blank barrow that was all he wanted to do in the first place.
