Thanks. I've been trying to hold it together with little success. Mixing Rosie some dry and canned dog food even triggered me into breaking down cause when I did it for Loki he would bark in excitement and that's something I'm missing right now.

Aww, sorry, Reaper. Sounds like Loki had a good long life with you. Still sucks to lose a beloved pet though. sad.gif

Thanks. We've been through a lot of things both good and bad. Though I still have Molly and Rosie; Bubbie was very special to me.

Well I lost my Bubbie aka Loki of 14 years the other day, as you can imagine I'm an emotional wreak right now. My Dad and I decided to go ahead and have him put to sleep as his health was failing him and he simply got to a point where he stop eating and drinking. Though I have my Boston Terror Molly and German Shepard Rosie, Loki was by far my favorite as I had him since he was a puppy. RIP Bubbie we'll see other again someday T_T .

Oh Reaper, I am so very sorry! You have my deepest sympathy. verysad.gif

Well last little bit of update on my late Bubbie, apparently he wasn't to far from dying on his own. My dad talked to the vet who was going to euthanize him walked in while he was working and said that Loki (Bubbie's actual name) died on his own pretty much after we left. So even if we chose not to have him put to sleep he would died anyway from old age. I guess it was just his time to go; also she explained why his urine had such a pungent smell and it was like I thought his kidneys where shutting down. I don't regret taking him to the vet to be put to sleep but I do feel a little better that he died on his own accord and spared me the pain of seeing him pass away.

I know it doesn't ease your grief; but at least it should ease your mind that you most def did the right thing. I'm so sorry you lost your Loki. *Hug*

Freya died today.

She has been unwell for two years now, since her first bout with Fatty Liver Disease. She never really got over with it completely. It came back again a few weeks ago, and I could see that it was the end, no matter what I tried. Today the vet found something in her intestines that might be a tumor. In addition to a lump I found on her head. Even with hospitalization, she was only looking at a few more weeks of life. She already has trouble walking, could not jump, and just sat and stared. So I had them end it.

Goodbye Freya.

Gosh, I remember enjoying pictures of Freya and hearing of some her antics and 'catitudes' for many years. I'm sure you'll miss her.

I'm so sorry for your loss Subs---losing a beloved pet is the most devastating feelings in the world. Heck I still get teary eyed when I think of Bubbie sometimes though its gotten a little easier to talk about him.

I am very sorry to hear that, SubRosa. Saying goodbye when it's time is the most loving thing, but that doesn't make it any less crushing I think. I am so sorry for your loss.

Having been through this process so many times both as a pet owner and as a veterinarian, my heart weeps for you, SubRosa. Be sure Freya is waiting in Valhalla for you to join her (even though she may not share mead with you, but perhaps lutefisk?). She was blessed to have lived with you for so many years, as I'm sure you consider yourself blessed to have had her companionship for all that time.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you move through life without Freya.
treydog
Blessings upon you both- SubRosa and Freya- who was an extraordinary fur-person. And I know she appreciated you for allowing her to not hurt any longer. May she walk on warm sands.
SubRosa
Thank you everyone. These last few days have been difficult. The world feels empty. Your kind words make it less so.

This thread holds memories of Freya that you shared with all of us going back as far as 2010. We saw her doing so many funny and sweet things in pics this past decade that she literally felt like a part of our "family" here at Chorrol. I remember she used to like to sleep on one of those old CRT monitors that you kept for her long after it stopped working. I think I remember her watching the squirrels through the window and you calling the squirrel mALX; and I remember when your Father's cats came to stay with her; and I think I remember that you moved once and she had opinions on the new apartment We all have so many wonderful memories of Freya through your pictures; her personality was so vivid through your pictures of her. I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss.

Today I had to say goodbye to my Boo Boo puppy. Here is the last pic I had of my three dogs together. Jax died in 2015 (big Bubba on the Left). Dixie in the middle; and Boo Boo on the far Right:

So, a week ago Friday, I was in the parking lot at work, waiting to head out to install some equipment. Heard a vehicle start up over near the nail salon, but didn't think much of it... until I heard "mew, mew, MEW!" and saw something go wobbling under a parked car.

Meet Andy, 1.92 lbs. of purr, tiny kitten claws, and attitude. In the week we have had him he has- used my legs as climbing/scratching posts, unrolled and made a nest out of toilet paper, learned to knock his toy mice out from under the door of his quarantine room, eaten enough for 12 kitties..., and caused us a great deal of laughter. Example- this morning I went in to the kitten room. He has- a crate, with soft towel; a basket, with old t-shirt; a cardboard box, also with t-shirt padding; a rug; a chair with cushion. So naturally, he was sleeping... in his LITTER box.

Aww cute! My girlfriend just adopted a kitten and I must say, I had forgotten how much trouble they can be! laugh.gif

May I ask if there are any environmental stressers that you are aware of? It’s typically not a good sign that a cat feels they have to sleep where they poop and pee. It’s like it’s the only place they feel safe enough to sleep. My old cat that passed last year started sleeping in his litter box after we got a smallish dog. He eventually got accustomed to having the dog around and stopped sleeping in the litter box.
Acadian
Khajiit is right. Andy sure pegs the cute meter! tongue.gif
