Hi folks, I'm Grits. I followed a trail of crumbs from another forum, and I am enjoying the stories in the Fan Fiction Forum over here. I am one of those people who has a hard time keeping quiet, so here I am!
Some things about me:
I am a female person.
I like to make things, but I seldom want to keep them. I have learned to confine my efforts to food and things that can be safely burned in the fireplace.
I studied biology in college, then I took a job as a marketing director. I left right before the last shred of my soul shriveled up and blew away.
There is a Mr. Grits and two Grits the Youngers. I took a break from work to raise the Youngers, and now they have reached the age where I am asking myself what do I want to be when I grow up part 2, for real this time.
The first video game I ever played was Doom on the PC. Yeah, that was a while ago. The second is Oblivion on the PS3. I tried to play Resident Evil in between somewhere, but I kept screaming and dropping the controller. Plus I got motion sick. It was a debacle.
I have never written fiction before a few weeks ago. I thought if I wrote down some things that were running through my head, they might go away. Or at least shut up and sit down. So far that's not happening.
I'm writing two Oblivion stories now. It's been fun to let the characters out of the game to run around a little. They keep adding stuff to the beginning, though, so it might be some time before anything approaches presentable.
Welcome Grits! I love your Bio, you have a tongue-in-cheek humor that tells me I will love your stories when you post them!
I had a problem with that motion sickness on larger screens too (with certain games). I have to be a certain distance from the screen and had to reformat my controller for less responsiveness on turning side to side to stop it. (I think it defaults at .75 on the axis, and I just kept dropping degrees till I no longer felt ill when I played.)
What I bolded above - QFT - a story bouncing around inside you will hinder your concentration on anything till you start putting it down and getting it out of your system! I can't wait to read it now, I know it will be Awesome!
