Killer Frost / Caitlin Snow = are now face presets on the Nexus.
SubRosa
Brad Pitt Preset = is, well, the name says it all. It is pretty well done. Even if you are playing a female character, you can make your pre-war spouse Brad Pitt. Maybe it will make Baby Shaun look better? He is supposed to look like a combination of both parents.

It isn't a .json file, so it does not require LooksMenu. Instead it comes in an .esp. There is also a second .esp for his hairstyle, which has to load first.

So, uh, this is awesome: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/30147, and works well. It moves up the Brotherhood of Steel arrival to a few hours after you complete the ArcJet quest with Danse.

Not long after clearing ArcJet, the Prydwyn arrived. I returned to Cambridge and completed Semper Invicta first, but Shadow of Steel proceeded flawlessly, and Danse and I now stand poised to attack Fort Strong.

The Brotherhood of Steel has arrived, and Knight Isabella is on the move.

Ooh, does this eliminate the need for mainquest for BoS characters?!

It does, but I'm not sure how far. Will report back when I've played more. I'm assuming that the BoS main quests will stall until it's time to find the Institute, though.

But if one wants to simply join the BoS and not have it only be Danse and Co. at Cambridge, then this is the mod for you!

Yeah sounds like a definite must have mod for any character not planning on pursuing the main quest, since it will make the BoS start spawning in the world without having to bother with finding Kellog.

The only complaint I have thus far is how quickly it shows up. It would work better if a week or two passed in game before they arrived.

Does it still show the cinematic or does the airship just appear over the airport one day?

It prompts you too head to the police station and watch it come in. But I actually missed it. No issues, though - the BoS was at the station in force and had it cleaned up. Caught the Vertibird to the Airport with no issue.

@SubRosa, not sure if you have seen this, but I know that you use the regular Sirius.12 armor. I found this version of it that doesn't have the cone boobs.

I tried that one a few months ago. It makes Hecate look like a scorpion.
SubRosa
Scar-H = Adds a Scar. You can pick whether it is 5.56 or 7.62 at the workbench, which is nice. Likewise with whether it is semi or automatic. There are a lot of color schemes you can pick, but I stick with basic black. Otherwise there are not really a lot of options. There is a vertical foregrip, a couple of eotech-like reflex sights, and an acog. I am liking the latter a lot. The custom sound it comes with is awesome. It shoots a little fast in automatic for me, so I am going to reduce the rate of fire slightly (ammo burns up really fast). I am liking it. This will be Victoria's new gun.
SubRosa
I found another incompatibility. Same Sex Couples and Revamped Playable Ghoul Mod do not work together. If you have Same Sex Couples on, your ghoul character loses their ghoul textures.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Ooh! Found this nice little mod today:

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/32361

Adds the Service Rifle from New Vegas. Not only that, but you can turn it into an Assault Carbine and a Marksman Carbine from that game too!
Kane
Great mod. There are some seriously nice uniques of it hidden around the Commonwealth, too.

Yeah Khajiit had a test character buy one chambered for .38 and really like the way it handles. Lots of mod options for it too!
SubRosa
I tried it, but was not thrilled with the colors. They don't match up between the pieces, even when you go with something all black. So it can look weird, depending on how you build a rifle.

Khajiit likes it. It has that “at home in the wasteland” look to it, imo. It’s pretty new though so no doubt it’ll have some retex’s.
Kane
I'm usually a stickler for lore friendly mods, but there is no way I can't try this mod.
Kane
I have finally found it. The settlement attack mods to end all settlement attack mods.

No longer must we rely on RNG dice rolls for whether or not our settlements lined with rocket turrets will be useful.

No longer must we rush to defend settlements that we painstakingly try to build to defend themselves.

No longer must we fear the unknown, when some random MM guy interrupts my fiddle music.

For I present to you: BS Defence - a mod that eliminates the dice roll and bases settlement attack survival on how well defended it actually is.

Nice! Khajiit would definitely use that!
TheCheshireKhajiit
For Désirée, Khajiit downloaded Red Wave. It’s not a paddlewheel, but it’s a nice little mobile player home boat that allows you to fast travel to various points in the Commonwealth and Far Harbor. Hate that you have to go all the way to Far Harbor to find the thing, but this one supposes they did that because the boat lets you travel to places on the Far Harbor island.

Can someone please explain to me how to make mods in Fallout 4 work?

I'm merely trying to test some mod but every site on the Internet has different instructions how to do it - some say that you need to have a Fallout4Custom.ini file, which I don't have but even when I created it following the instructions online, the mod wouldn't work in the game. Some say that you have to edit Fallout4 and Fallout4Prefs but these instructions vary and no matter what I did, the mod wouldn't work.

Basically, I downloaded a mod with NMM and activated it, but it doesn't work in the game.

Yeah it’s weird how you have to alter one if the ini’s to get mods to work. Khajiit will try to remember where his altered ini is and screen shot it for you. What OS are you using on your PC?
Lopov
Okay, I managed to get it working but I had to manually download the mod and then activate it in NMM. I altered the original Fallout4.ini by editing bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 and making a blank space after the line sResourceDataDirsFinal=

I also altered Fallout4Prefs.ini by adding bEnableFileSelection=1.

Then I manually downloaded a mod and activated it in NMM, I got a warning that I don't have a Fallout4.ini but the mod at least works!

Now if there's some easier way to do it or if it's not necessary to make all the steps above, I'm open to suggestions
.

EDIT: I was wrong, it doesn't work.

Ok so it was in Documents>My Games>Fallout 4

Find the ini that has the “Archive” heading. Then right under the Archive heading type the following:

bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal= (Do not type this part as it’s a note that nothing comes after the “=“ )

Try that and see if it works.

Thanks, it works!

Now another issue...the game can get insanely bright at times, like this - is there any way to lower brightness?

I think that is just a weather type, of fog.
Lopov
Oh okay. At times it hurt my eyes because it persisted for a while so I thought it can be resolved somehow.
SubRosa
If it hurts your eyes it might be more than just fog. I cannot think of any bugs that make it too bright though.

I came upon the first annoying thing - you can equip a hotkeyed piece of apparel (like sunglasses) but you can't unequip it with the same hotkey, you have to open up the PipBoy and unequip it manually. wacko.gif

From what I've read online, this isn't a bug but an actual game feature. I didn't find any mod to make a hotkey equip & unequip the same item, does anyone have a solution?

This one noticed this yesterday when he was playing around with equipment. Usually it’s not a problem for this one as for weapons you just change to a different weapon. For outfits it can be annoying though. Sadly, Khajiit knows of no fix.
Lopov
For weapons it's not such a problem, I agree but since Fallout 3 I have a habit that my characters unequip certain headgear as they get indoors like sunglasses and since now I always achieved this simple act via hotkeys. Too bad they removed this feature.

Among others, I installed my first two mods:

1)Sleeping on couches

2)Smoking

Heh, Khajiit uses that smoking mod! Never thought about being able to sleep on a couch but it does make sense. You can still sit on them right?
Lopov
Yes, you can sit on them just fine.

Though I didn't intend to install any mods as early on, Logan was really longing for some bed in the Sanctuary, so I roleplayed that he slept on a couch while he actually "waited on a couch". The following morning I did find a place to sleep in the Sanctuary, but still.

I own a Steam copy of Fallout 4 but for gaming I use a downloaded version. My gaming version is 1.7.12 which means I can't use the Unofficial patch because it requires version 1.10.89 or greater. Now my question is - is the UOP a must or some of you don't use it and don't have any problems because of that?

Fallout4 is arguably the most stable BGS game ever. Khajiit played vanilla on PS4 for a long time without many serious issues, just an occasional crash. This one thinks you should be fine without it.
Kane
I second Khajiit. You won't have any problems until you stumble upon mods that require F4SE.

Well theoretically he should be fine if he can find the proper version of the Script Extender for his game version. He should never have to worry about the Creation Crap updates if his version doesn’t ever update. The only thing is he will need to find mod files that match his Script Extender version.
Lopov
Thank you both.

I found a bunch of different F4SE in the archive but I'll have to find the proper version for my game.

I put my new tugboat home - The USS Bunker Hill - here on Dropbox. I finished the navmeshing last night. That was a real pain, because it turns out I put the boat right on the point where four cells meet. So I had to navmesh each cell separately.

It is very bare bones. My intention was to use the workshop to decorate it in the game. But it does start with all the crafting stations, a bed, and storage. You can find it on the riverfront south of Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution. Its map marker will be instantly visible and able to be traveled to.

Normal. I never play on survival.

Gotcha. The only reason Khajiit asked is because Survival makes cells respawn waaay slower than usual. Désirée is currently running around in “very easy” mode so we should get similar results if everything is working like it should.
