Apparently updates will no longer break the script extenders.

Well this is good news

Start Me Up is working well, but I just can't decide on where to start. It's not fun trying to drop into some of the outlying areas on Survival Mode.

I think I'll end up settling for the non-protagonist Vault start.

That could be interesting. As one of the neighbors of the family, you probably knew them well enough to perhaps want to find Sean (or not, the little brat! He peed on my shirt!) and would give Coddy an excuse to recognize you (albeit with his programming a bit confused).

The safest way is to start near Vault 111. I tried a regular difficulty game starting Hecate out around the center of the map, and it was brutal.

I found an old post I made from back then:

But wow, it has been really difficult being low level in the actual city limits of Boston! I thought the enemies would be scaled like in Skyrim. Not! I was in the Fens Sewer at 2nd Level, and had to take on a Glowing One! It took all 20 shots in Hecate's Mk14 to bring it down. The Raiders she faces are not the ordinary ones, but Raider Scum, Raider Psychos, and Legendary Raiders. Not to mention Super Mutants that take about 10 shots to kill each.

Yeah when Sam Baron made his way to Diamond City from his shipwreck start, he could tell that mortals would have trouble making the trip.

Burnt Magazines and Comics Retexture = an outstanding retexture of the burnt comics and magazines.
King Coin
IDK if anyone has mentioned this, but I have been using Sim Settlements.

Takes a lot of tedium out of building settlements and makes it kind of fun again.

Khajiit has been toying with trying this. You recommend it then?

Yep! It works great and I've had no issues with it.

Player Head Tracking = finally brings back headtracking. MCM is required, but you should have that anyway.
SubRosa
Technetronic Personal Defense Weapon = adds a new futuristic-looking gun that is very modular.

Build A Treehouse = adds a treehouse that you can build in your settlements. It can have issues with height that makes it not good for certain settlements with a low height set for the workable area.

Settlement Height Unlocked = is a good thing to use with the Treehouse mod, as it makes the vertical buildable area much higher.

Remove Scope Sway = does what it says. In case like me you don't like the mechanic of holding down the Alt key to keep scopes steady.

Pose It = has some good action/weapon poses for rifle, pistol, and melee characters. You have to use the console to activate/deactivate the poses though. It is the same as the FO3 and NV pose mods that way. But that is not really a big deal.

Double Action Revolvers = for those like me who hate having to cock the .44 before every shot.

King Coin
Durable Vertibirds for those of us that think the current vertibirds are laughably fragile.

Robot Home Defence so that you can make robots protect your settlements! biggrin.gif
SubRosa
I downloaded both those. I always thought the vertibirds got shot down way to easily. They were a lot tougher in Fallout 3.

Hecate's Face is now a Preset - All you need is LooksMenu, which you absolutely should have anyway. Plus few other mods, but those are not critical.

There's another mod referenced in this mod's description that is quite nice. A Fistful of Barrels.

I've no doubt that a modifier could make that dream come true!

I love the title! It would be cool for a western-themed character. There are some western outfits from Nuka World. So a gunslinger character would be doable.

Oooooh!!!
Kane
I might add all three of those into Elizabeth's load order. I've always wanted to have a character featured around the .44, but the ammo is so damn scarce.

Pop a .38 receiver in it, add in some cool barrel options, and fan that bizitch at some raider scum!
TheCheshireKhajiit
Well after reading about the “fan the hammer” mod, it sounds incomplete. The animation only works in first person, which isn’t really a problem if you only play in that perspective, but Khajiit is a little picky and wants something to work no matter how he chooses to play. Also, the creator says the accuracy is crap, which is probably realistic, but a gunslinger in the mold of The Man with No Name should be pretty accurate even while fanning. Dunno, just seems a bit janky.
SubRosa
Robo Leg Outfits = another Elianora creation. This adds a bunch of outfits that include a robotic leg.
SubRosa
Standalone NCR Ranger Sequoia .44 Mangum = This mod adds the Ranger Sequoia from New Vegas. It comes in two versions. One changes all the .44s to the Sequoia. The other adds 4 omods that you can add to any .44 to turn it into a Sequoia. I am using the latter. The textures are outstanding.

I started using Transfer Settlements a few days ago. With my last few characters I have been taking the time to build walls and some gun turrets around every settlement I help. But it gets tiresome. Since I had most of the settlements done in Annie's game, I used Transfer Settlements to make blueprints of them all. With my newest character I was able to take one and instantly set up Abernathy Farm. Very nice. It is a huge timesaver.
Kane
Found a new handy mod and it seems to be working well. It's called Settlement Attacks Improved, and it tweaks them nicely. They are turned into full quests instead of misc. objectives and only one will happen at a time.

The attack won't begin until you arrive at the settlement, and all the enemies will be marked.

If another one does come under attack, it won't start a quest until the current active one is complete.

Works perfectly so far!

I gave up on walls back when I still played on the PS4. It was virtually impossible to make a settlement wall without gaps.

Place Everywhere makes this much easier on the PC, but I still don't really wall them in. I usually try other creative defense methods first.

Lately, I started using a combo of Craftable Turret Stands and PCDug's Build a Wall mods. The new junk wall options from the latter include pieces that are close to 3x the height of regular junk walls. I will put one of those up, attach a turret stand towards the top, and run a wire to it from the back via the Pass-through Power Conduits mod.
SubRosa
I don't have too much trouble with making walls without gaps. Place Everywhere helps, but is not perfect. What I do is fill in the small gaps with some small pieces I have found. The wooden wall set has a pair of pieces toward the back that look more like doors, which you can put almost anywhere. I slap those over gaps or holes in the bottoms.

Homemaker also has lots more wall options, including the Covenant style concrete walls. That set has a pair of really thin endcap pieces. When I have non-right angle, I use those to extend a piece of wall so that it runs into the one it abuts. That creates a surface with no gaps.
Kane
It was murder on the console. Those junk walls leave huge gaps in vanilla, and never look good.
SubRosa
I never use the Junk Fence. I go under Structure -> Wooden -> Walls, and use the first piece that comes up. This is it. The entire wall of them looks like this.

Toward the end of the same group is this piece and the one following it. They both are my band-aids, and they can be placed over almost anything. Great for little gaps or holes in other pieces, or even filling up windows in buildings.

Best of all, this is all vanilla.
Kane
I did that sometimes and usually went a step further and put down concrete foundations, too. I think the most successful and dedicated I ever got with it was when I made Fort Taffington.

Hard to believe that was almost two years ago!
SubRosa
Fort Taffington looks outstanding! I never go to that much work.
Kane
Thanks! smile.gif That video was actually before I finished it, now that I remember. As you can see it is sparsely decorated.
Kane
Watching that actually made me nostalgic for playing FO4 on the PS4. Next time I have a lazy day, I may boot it up for old time's sake.

Start Me Up has had a pretty big update. The new version has more starting locations. Here is a map of all the locations. It also has more options for starting gear (though I still don't really understand what class comes with what gear). Finally, it even gives you the option of starting at a higher level.

Ooh! Khajiit has been kicking around the idea of reinstalling the game and reselecting what mods to use. This will definitely be on the list!
TheCheshireKhajiit
Has anyone here tried any solar power mods?

I did not know there were any.

I did not know there were any.

Neither did Khajiit until recently. He was looking at the “January Featured Mods” article over at Beth.net and saw that there were a couple on there. This one then moseyed on over to Nexus and found one that that had good marks.

Here we go.

Might be an interesting option for some characters.
SubRosa
Playable Bugs - In case you wanted to play as a Bloodbug. Not kidding. The pic of a bloodbug with a laser pistol is priceless!

Outfield Retreat - Diamond City RV Player Home - is another of Elianora's creations. It adds a small trailer to the outfield in Diamond City. Outstandingly done. There is a power armor station outside, and all the crafting stations inside, and even though they are in different cells, they can still all share the same inventories (I have tried other mods where they did not share between cells).

I started a game with Same Sex Couples and LGBT Families for my new playthrough of Killer Frost. It worked in the intro pretty well. I was not thrilled with the face that was used for her spouse. But that was easily changed in character generation by using a Looksmenu preset. I actually used Annie Ley Oak's face! biggrin.gif

When playing the Female-Female version, your character has to be the second person in front of the mirror. Basically just like the vanilla game, you have to use the change sex option to go to your character.

What is a little odd that both wear the same outfit to start with. You can use the console to change the clothes of either (I never thought of that until later). But once the news announces the start of the war, your spouse magically changes clothes to jeans and white tee shirt. It would have been nice if they had just started that way.

I added some mods after my first night of playing. Then went back again a day later. I found that my character was now male! ohmy.gif As far as I can tell, none of the mods I added had anything to do with the original spouse's sex. It was stuff like crafting items. Just out of curiosity I tried disabling Same Sex Couples and again when restarting my character was male. Finally I activated the mod again and just moved it down the load order, and Frost was magically female again.

Edit to add:
I found an incompatibility between Remove Scope Sway and Same Sex Couples. I never would have imagined it, but each completely cancels the other out. Whatever loads last wins, and disables the other.

I looked at Remove Scope Sway in the CK, and I think I see why. It adds a perk that stabilizes your aim. Then it adds that perk directly to the Player record. I expect that Same Sex Couples also directly modifies the Player record. So there the the problem.

The upside is that deleting the Remove Scope Sway perk from the player record via FO4Edit and making it completely standalone should work. Then you could simply add the perk via the console. Or with a quest.

I found another incompatibility. Same Sex Couples and Revamped Playable Ghoul Mod do not work together. If you have Same Sex Couples on, your ghoul character loses their ghoul textures.

This should have been in the vanilla game, tbh. Shouldn’t have been too hard to pull off (betting that it was due to the voiced PC thing).

Couples sometimes do start dressing the same, whether they are same sex or different sexes. Something I've noticed during my 48 years. They do not magically change sex though due to load order issues, so good you figured that out! Your fix will probably get burned into Google's search hopefully, so others who have these probs can get past them. smile.gif

Who ever would have guessed that sex reassignment surgery is a simple as changing your load order... laugh.gif

Sister of Battle - adds a cool female Warhammer 40k inspired suit of armor.

Proto Vault Suit - A high res retexture of the vanilla vault suit. It looks outstanding, and has several alternate color schemes.

Aquila Laser Rifle - adds a cool-looking laser rifle to the game. I have not tried it yet, but it looks good.

Hey did they definitely fix that issue where the Creation Crap updates we’re screwing up the script extender?
Kane
I think so. At least, according to Cartogriffi it has.
