If the RocuMobile is still running okay. . . I mean if the engine is running it is producing heat so channeling it into the cabin may be a relatively simple/affordable fix. Have you checked to see what fixing would involve? One reason I say that is because newer cars sort of resemble Windows Eleven and if you prefer simplicity you may be disappointed.

Don’t get me started on new cars. Khajiit’s car is a 2009. Me ma’s car is 2018 or 19 and it has all of this crap in it that are apparently standard safety features these days, but I feel are extremely unnecessary and annoying. I guess you can’t just buy a basic car anymore.

That you can't and it is annoying for sure.
As for the heating issues; I've had it checked out by five garages, one of which was an Audi specialist. None of them could fix it. And as for the "specialist" I guess they just didn't really care because the car is too old. Those guys only cater to new cars.
Last guy that checked it (not the specialist) made sure all the gears and motors controlling the fans were ok, and he could find no errors with the computer so he was simply at a loss. I'm now at the point where I simply don't want to shill out more money and not get it fixed. It's also the matter of how long can the car go before a major gasket blows or the turbo tanks. Both would involve me getting another car anyway because those repairs would be too costly.
I'm currently looking into a Subaru XV around 2012-2014.

The two current trends I don't like are: putting all the controls on a touch screen that you have to look at to use, and the (legally mandated) lane/speed nagging software.
The VW Golf I rented, the last time I was in the UK, would beep at me for something every five minutes. I suspect it was complaining that I was out of my lane every time the white lines disappeared, but I wasn't taking my eyes off the road to read the text that came with the beep. I never did get the hang of the touch screen. There were too many menus, and a counter-intuitive user interface when you could find the right screen. Fortunately I used it during a mild time of year when I didn't need heating or cooling, so I could just leave that off (once I found out how to turn it off).
My next car will definitely be a used one, unless those two go away.
Actually, there's a third trend that is worrying. Car makers want to have remote control of the vehicle they sold you, so they can build one model, and enable feature via software updates. That means you never really own a car any more.

My biggest concern is obsolescence and durability.
My computer is lucky to make it 4 - 6 years (with a mid life upgrade). I'm used to buying a new car and keeping it till starts getting unreliable for me - historically 15+ years. Now, a computer with wheels (new car) hardly has the benefit of a climate controlled environment that doesn't go bouncing down the road that my pc has so why would I expect it to hold up very long?

Indeed. I’m sure the dealerships and mechanics love the fact that you will have to repair or replace these every 4 years. The game was rigged from the start.

Agree with ghastley, Acadian and Khajiit. Thing with my car is, as much as I'd like to keep it, it has started to show wear and tear (being a 2001) and I've also changed my approach so to speak. I want higher ground clearence whilst keeping the 4WD, and Subaru has a good reputation. The only model they have that I want however is the XV which means I have to go up to 2012 for the first model.
I will refuse any car that can have "upgrades" installed remotely and will quit working if those are forced upon me.

Well I had a rough night last night. Ever wonder why instruction manuals say make sure all the green gas/propane is emptied before storing? Well I found out the hard way when my new P90's magazine still had gas in it and I woke up to this nice aroma of a** and farts in my room. I took the magazine out and managed to release the remaining propane gas and that cleared up my room but still, that was the most horrible stench to wake up to! Hell I'll take the aroma of skunk over propane gas any day, at least skunk odder smells like new puppy breath.

Welp...another branch falls off my family tree. My "uncle removed" who is my father's half-brother passed away last night. I'm not really torn up as I never really considered him family as he and his first wife have some pretty bad history with mine but still, it's one less branch on my dying family tree...ugh. I wish I was 20 years younger and in better health then I am now to go on finding a wife but now...I'm just too old to be dating and don't have the patience to court anyone anymore.

It seems we have a second similarity. Not only do we share a birthday, but we now have an older-generation relative pass within a short time-span. In my case it's an aunt, the last of her generation in my clan. She went peacefully early this week, age 96. A difference between us is that she and her husband, my uncle, who lived to be 91, were some of the best people I've known. Real "salt of the earth" folk.
Although I don't see you as being too old to seek a mate should that be your desire, I stick steadfastly to my longheld tenet that

As someone who found their person fairly late in life, I think that one should never say “it’s too late”. I wasn’t even looking at the time I was led to meet the person who would become Mrs. Khajiit. You just gotta be open to it, and seize the opportunity when it arrives.
That being said, as a couple we have gone over the pros and cons of having children. We determined that, between our personal issues (my age, our finances, etc.), and the myriad issues beyond our control that seem to be sending the world careening towards a dark future, having children would be somewhat irresponsible. If it happens, so be it, but it would be an act of God and we don’t intend on making it easy for him.

You still have to be careful. If the authorities decide that while defending your home you went a little above and beyond, you may get charged with a crime.
