I'm not much for vampires, but I have been interested in trying out the original one. I know that some of you very much enjoy it, so I was wondering about it. Is it sort of similar to a TES game in the type of gameplay, etc.? I notice some similarities but I don't know if it is just because it is also on the Gamebryo/Creation Engine. Also, what are the kinds of things that you really enjoy about the game (e.g. characters, locations, etc.)?
Well, it’s similar to TES in some ways and very different in others. The world is very interesting to explore, imo, but it’s a hub style game world instead of open world. Your character will be from one of a bunch of different vampire “races”, and each one has its own look and feel when it comes to play style (one race is focused on being able to get what they want by talking, another uses blood magic to destroy enemies, so there’s a little something for everyone.). It’s set in modern times so you’ll be using a variety of firearms and melee weapons are similar to
Fallout (baseball bats, tire irons, combat knives, fire axe, even a sword), but melee combat is done in third person. Otherwise you can freely switch viewpoints just like in TES (ranged combat works best in first person, imo, but you can try it in third if you like). One area where V:TM-B shines is its dialogue. The language used can be foul at times but it suits the setting and there are so many choices when it comes to responding to npcs, some of which can carry dire consequences so you must choose your words carefully at times or be prepared for consequences. It’s a really good game that you can find on GOG for fairly cheap (cheaper if it’s on sale) and it includes the unofficial patch that allows it to run on modern machines. Hope you decide to check it out!
Word of warning if you do decide to get it: save playing as a Malkavian for a second play through. Their dialogue will make more sense after you’ve played through the game as a member of the other “races”.

I saw some teasers for it on Gog. It looks cool. I am sure I will buy it. I remember playing the original tabletop rpg Vampire: The Masquerade back in the day. It had some really cool lore, and worked very well as a role playing game.
Did you ever play the original PC game?

Still: Malks FTW!

Hopefully Khajiit will have some more Malk action for you soon! That said, she’s still in Hollywood :\ .

Going to install the first game now!
I am so excited. Never been more excited about any recent games than this to be honest. It’s about time we have a game devoted to vampire characters. Vampyr was decent but this game I’m sure will be tons of fun!
Ventrue’s my favorite.
I better get back to writing a vampire story lol.
Ventrue: the silver tongued devils! Khajiit’s first V:TM-B character was a Ventrue because their in game description reminded this one of Imperials from TES.
Please post your story if/when you get it finished!
